The prebooked entry timed ticket was well worth having -;long queue but moved very quickly. Audioguide picked up at the desk was fun and informative. However both could have been booked direct from official website considerably cheaper than using Viator.

Itinerary
Make your way to the Pantheon to explore the best-preserved monument of Ancient Rome on a guided tour of the former pagan temple. The itinerary will narrate the history but above all the curiosities and lesser-known facts of the Basilica of Saint Maria ad Martyres, the Pantheon. This monument has represented the greatest expression of the glory of Rome for more than two thousand years. In 608, Pope Boniface IV had the remains of many martyrs removed from the Christian catacombs and placed in the Pantheon.

This review is not about the Pantheon, it is about TripAdvisor. We purchased 2 tickets in advance online through the app. We were provided with what were stated to be tickets to add to our Apple Wallet, which we did. There was a booking number and a confirmation number and a barcode. Upon arriving at the Pantheon, we were told that these tickets indeed were not tickets at all. The individuals at the Pantheon asked us to look for an email confirmation. This email took us through circuits of links to Viator new sign-ins, new downloads links to download PDF tickets that were not tickets and other links to the to download to the wallet. Our people at the Pantheon said that this is a common event with TripAdvisor and other similar entities. This was a massive waste of time, and, in the end of money. The manager at the Pantheon took us to the front of the line where we repurchased tickets. Pouring through the app later, we found an obscure "message" – that led to two different tickets - that by this time had absolutely no value if they were legitimate at all. In addition, there was no place to look for a refund - the help center wasn't much of a help center at all. The application is absolutely terrible. There is no method for communication. So based on this experience, we would suggest that you not use TripAdvisor for anything related to booking tickets. And we would suggest a trip advisor that they do something to prevent people from adding nonviable tickets to their Apple wallets. In addition, they need some type of functional refund mechanism. A massive disappointment
A must-see if you're in Rome. It’s pretty imposing from the outside, but the inside is even better. The acoustics and the dome are incredible. Plus, the piazza outside has a great vibe if you want to sit down and have a drink after your visit. Highly recommended!
I visited the Pantheon on August 12, 2026, and it was an incredible experience. The magnificent dome, oculus and beautifully preserved interior make it one of the most impressive historic places to experience in Rome.
The Pantheon is one of the most extraordinary places I visited in Rome. Its magnificent dome, elegant columns, and the famous oculus create an atmosphere that is both peaceful and awe-inspiring. The way natural light enters through the oculus makes the interior feel alive and unforgettable. As a writer and traveler, I was deeply moved by the history and architectural brilliance of this ancient monument. It is remarkable that a structure built nearly two thousand years ago remains so perfectly preserved. I recommend taking a few moments to sit quietly inside and appreciate its beauty and history. The Pantheon is not just a landmark—it is an experience that stays with you long after you leave. A must-visit destination in Rome.
Amazing experience! The Pantheon was incredible, and the fast-track entry made everything easy. Highly recommended!
My brother and I booked the Temple of Neptune + Pantheon tour, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of our visit to Rome. We visited on the 20th of April. The highlight of the tour was the exclusive access to the Pantheon's basement level, an area not typically open to regular visitors. We had the unique opportunity to see construction details, original building materials, ancient tiles, and various archaeological artifacts that help tell the story of this remarkable structure. Walking between the inner and outer walls of the Pantheon provided an entirely new perspective on the engineering genius behind one of the world's most iconic buildings. What made the experience even more special was that my brother and I were the only two visitors in our time slot. Our guide, an archaeologist from Budapest, was exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. She explained the history of the Pantheon in great detail, discussed its architectural evolution, and described the ongoing preservation efforts. Her insights transformed the visit from a simple tour into an engaging lesson in Roman history and engineering. We also visited a small chapel that houses the original wooden figurine of the Virgin Mary, a fascinating and unexpected part of the tour that added another layer of historical and religious significance to the experience. After exploring the underground areas, we were led into the Pantheon itself, where we could fully appreciate the grandeur of the structure with a deeper understanding of its construction and history. Seeing the famous dome and oculus after learning about the building techniques and materials used nearly two thousand years ago was truly awe-inspiring. For anyone visiting Rome, I highly recommend this tour. While the Pantheon is impressive on its own, the opportunity to explore areas normally closed to the public and learn from an expert archaeologist makes this experience exceptional. It was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our time in Rome.
The world's oldest monument in best conservation state, features the largest unarmed concrete dome in the world. Impressive for the dimensions, the decoration of its interior and the state of conservation of the entire architectural ensemble taking into account its construction age.
No line and the guide was incredibly knowledgeable and respectful.
A place to go if you are un Rome. Inside, the ceiling is amazing.
Wow, what a beautiful, serene place to visit. We had already purchased our tickets online, prior to our visit, but you can buy tickets on the day. There were large queues, but as a disabled person, we presented ourselves to the staff and we were taken straight through, so no queuing. To buy tickets on the day, just join the smaller queue to the left of the Pantheon, don’t engage with ticket touts outside. We sat down inside and were awestruck by the sheer size and beauty. Lovely coffee shops around the Pantheon too.
Amazing tour,it felt peaceful even though it was busy. Our time slot was changed and we were put with a guide Claudia, she was very witty and knowledgeable. It was around 11 euros.
Visited the Pantheon with a guided tour and it truly enhanced the experience. Skipping the long lines made everything smooth and stress-free, while the knowledgeable guide brought the monument’s rich history and stunning architecture to life. Seeing the magnificent dome and oculus in person was unforgettable, and the insightful commentary made the visit even more meaningful. A well-organized and worthwhile experience for anyone exploring Rome.
After buying the tickets, we received an email stating we had to pay more to keep the time slot we had chosen. We lost the tour and requested a refund as we had to buy our own tickets to enter the Pantheon.
Must see in Rome. Outside is very spectacular but the Oculus made our day. Amazing and łów prize. The line on the left is only to pay cash. There were’nt crowd and people.
Donatella was excellent and very knowledgeable. The guided tour was worthwhile and skipping the line alone is worth the cost.
Impossible to quote this experience with ZERO. Horrible experience. Desorder and crowdy place and guards hevavior is SHAME. People cutting queues.. And when I said to the guard people where cutting the queues he said "Not my business, I do not seen anything" (it happens in front of him) I forgot I was in the country of MAFIA. SHAME, SHAME ON YOU!
First aver Review of mine this was A breathtaking masterpiece of ancient Rome. The architecture, especially the massive dome and oculus, is truly unforgettable. Simple, powerful, and full of history—an absolute must-visit in Rome.
The queue to get in is huge but it moves at a good pace. While the place is impressive to see there are not many places to stop at, it is just a circular room with statues and carvings in the wall. The guided tour points out the history about several things which is interesting to learn. From start to finish it wont take long.
The Pantheon is probably the best-preserved building of Ancient Rome, and it remains a stunning structure with an interesting history, from its beginning as a temple to its conversion to a church in the middle ages. It also serves as the final resting place for two of the kings of Italy and other luminaries like Raphael. Reserving admission is a bit clunky. Before entering, you have to pick up your ticket at a little storefront a quarter-mile away. I opted for the guided tour, but had to wait well past my reserved time. The tour was fine, but the audio guide is probably just as good and more flexible. It was very crowded inside, and they don't seem to limit entry. While the experience was a little bumpy, this is still a must-visit site in Rome.
Our visit to the Pantheon with the audio-guided tour was absolutely wonderful! The fast access tickets made everything so smooth! The Pantheon oculus is a circular opening at the top of the Pantheon's dome in Rome that serves as the building's sole source of natural light. This 25-foot-wide aperture, meaning "eye" in Latin, is an architectural marvel that acts as a giant sundial, casting shifting beams of sunlight inside the rotunda. The oculus also allows for ventilation, lets rain in, and its design helps distribute the dome's weight.
Visiting the Pantheon in Rome felt like stepping into a space where time refuses to move forward. I had seen countless photographs of the building before arriving, but nothing compared to standing in front of it on a warm afternoon with the noise of the city swirling around its ancient columns. The moment I walked through the massive bronze doors, the sound softened and the atmosphere changed. Light poured through the oculus at the top of the dome, forming a bright circle on the marble floor that slowly shifted as the sun moved. Watching that gentle movement made the entire structure feel alive. The interior felt both vast and intimate. Even with other visitors standing around me, the space had a quiet presence that encouraged you to slow down and absorb every detail. The marble walls, the intricate chapels, and the perfect symmetry of the dome created a sense of balance that is hard to describe until you are inside it. I found myself looking up repeatedly, drawn to the way the light shaped the dome’s coffers and how the sky seemed close enough to reach. At one point a bird flew across the opening, and its silhouette against the sunlight became one of those unexpected moments that stay with you long after you leave. What struck me the most was how the Pantheon is still used as a living building. It is not just an ancient monument but also a church, so the quiet hum of devotion mixes with the curious energy of travelers. I liked lingering near the tombs of Italian kings and listening to a local guide explain how the structure has remained standing for nearly two thousand years without losing its harmony. There was something reassuring in that longevity, as if the building itself were asserting that beauty and purpose can endure through centuries of change. Stepping back outside felt like emerging from another world. The plaza was lively, filled with people taking photos or sitting on the edge of the fountain while musicians played nearby. The contrast between the calm of the interior and the buzz of the square made me appreciate the experience even more. The Pantheon left me with a sense of awe that was both peaceful and energizing, and it became one of those rare places where history feels immediate and personal.
Rome remains the moral capital of the Western world as we know it. The Pantheon—with its grandeur and resistance to change—is probably the building that best reflects this historical memory.
The ancient Pantheon is one of the most significant buildings of its age, the self supporting domed roof has stood in place for millennia and yet continues to amaze. While free to visit the queue’s can be extensive so I would recommend visiting early in the day and I understand that seeing rain through the oculus in the dome is also something to experience.
The Pantheon in Rome is a magnificent building that makes a strong impression. The architecture is beautiful and shows how skilled the Romans were at building. Inside, the light shines through the large dome, creating a calm and special atmosphere. However, there are some less pleasant parts. There is often a long queue, and the admission process can take a while. Although the fee is small, it may feel unnecessary to some visitors. It is also a busy place, so being considerate of others is important. Still, I truly recommend visiting this masterpiece full of history and beauty.
Very well put together. Excellent tour guide. Learned a lot about its history. Would recommend the guided tour over a listening device.
The guide for this particular tour is very knowledgeable. She gave us the important aspects of the architectural style and the beauty of the Dome with no support at the centre open to the sky, which is a Marvel. Took a time to explain and answer questions. And subsequently allowed us to walk around on our own. A magnificent structure.
They said that tickets would be issued 24 hours in advance, and we still did not receive tickets an hour AFTER our timed entrance. This is a scam!
Once you stand infront of this well preserved and magnificent building you cannot help but be mesmerized by the incredible beauty and perfection of the temple. It was worth every penny and I suggest that you give it an hour for it's a sight to behold.
We visited the Pantheon with an 11am guided tour with Crown Tours. This is one of the best-preserved Roman temples in all of Italy, today it is a basilica that houses the remains of 2 Italian Kings and 1 Italian Queen. It also houses the remains of the famous renaissance painter Raphael. The Oculus of the concrete dome is the main attraction of this ancient building. Once inside, you can sit down on the prayer benches to marvel at the ceiling and the beautiful interiors, while resting your feet from all the walking that you had to do. Without a guided tour, visitors have to queue up to purchase a 5Euros admission ticket to get in. It is definitely worth visiting for first-time visitors to Rome! IMPORTANT NOTE: Please beware of pickpockets & scammers who are prowling around the square in front of the Pantheon, especially around the fountain opposite the main entrance of the Pantheon! Tourists are easy targets for those scumbags!
Barbara was great! Her pictures were very helpful in describing the past. She answered additional questions we had. It was a very hot day- recommend bringing extra bottled water.
Visiting the Pantheon in Rome with my family was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Italy. Walking through the cobbled streets of the Eternal City, we knew we were approaching something special—but nothing prepared us for the moment we stepped into the Piazza della Rotonda and saw the Pantheon in all its grandeur. First Impressions The Pantheon is absolutely breathtaking from the outside. Its massive Corinthian columns and imposing facade are instantly awe-inspiring. Even my kids, who can usually only be impressed by gelato and gladiators, stopped in their tracks. The sense of history was palpable—you can feel the centuries in the worn stone and the quiet reverence of the place. Stepping Inside As we walked through the enormous bronze doors into the rotunda, a collective “wow” escaped from all of us. The interior is a perfect circle, with marble floors, statues of saints, and beautiful niches lining the walls. But the true highlight? The oculus—a circular opening in the center of the dome that lets sunlight pour in. It was around midday, and the sunbeam shining through the oculus felt almost spiritual. The light moved across the walls like a sundial, and it was mesmerizing to watch. Even our youngest was intrigued by the idea that this hole in the ceiling has been open to the sky for nearly 2,000 years—and that it’s the only source of natural light in the building. A Living Monument What struck me most was how alive the Pantheon still feels. It's not just a relic—it's a working church, known as the Basilica of St. Mary and the Martyrs. There were people praying, lighting candles, and taking in the moment in silence. We explained to our kids that we were standing in a building that had been a Roman temple before becoming a Christian church, and that it has been continuously used since around 126 AD. That timeline was mind-blowing. Family-Friendly Experience The visit was surprisingly family-friendly. There’s no entrance fee (which is great for a family group), and the site isn’t overwhelmingly large, so you can take your time without feeling rushed or exhausted. There are benches where you can sit and take it all in, and just outside are plenty of cafes and gelaterias where we grabbed a treat afterwards. We also appreciated the subtle educational opportunity—history, architecture, and art all in one spot, without it feeling like a museum. Final Thoughts The Pantheon is more than just a must-see site—it's a powerful experience that bridges the ancient and modern world. Whether you’re a history buff or just want to feel a deeper connection to human civilization, it delivers in a quiet, awe-inspiring way. Our family left feeling humbled, inspired, and surprisingly peaceful. If you're in Rome with your loved ones, don’t miss it—it’s not just a monument, it's a moment you’ll remember together.
This is a must see monument in Rome. We lucked out by going on a day, which had a bit of rain, and then the sun came out, so we could see the interior with the open oculus in all its glory. The architectural details and scale are mind boggling, and it is perfectly preserved despite being over 2000 years old. Our tour guide was superb and enthusiastic, and her passion for the building and content was obvious.
Before we visited, we were sat in a bar in the piazza next to the Pantheon just admiring the building and having a drink and people watching. When we left and as we approached the building, we were approached by a gent who was with a party of 6 and asked whether we'd like to join him as his wife for a guided tour. It cost 20 Euros including the entrance fee- best decision we made. We jumped all the queues to enter. which was great as we had not prebooked tickets on this occasion. This building is just magnificent inside and out, and so interesting. Whether it's the building material, the method of construction or the logistics involved in it's construction, it was all mind boggling. Once inside it’s an amazing structure, the construction of the perfect geometric Dome, the Oculus, the natural light, the convex floor. Definitely my favourite building in Rome. Its a must visit whenever you decide to visit Rome.
I loved Rome and Italians until I met the staff at the Pantheon in Rome. They shout at tourists in an uncivilized manner. Choose people to work with better. Best regards, Anna
Super cool! Definitely check out the hole in the ceiling, the window, and get to know the rich history of this fascinating piece of architecture! Guide was very good, explained all and interactive, even took us to two churches as an extra action, so super nice.
My favorite place in Rome! Pantheon has a special place in my heart! The energy of this place is just unreal. it is just spectacular and mesmerising. Spend an hour to explore this beauty.
an incredible place. Love coming back again and again- and always with a tour I learn something new, or remember something. Wonderful
The Walker tours is a rip off they take your money and then they don't show up there's nobody here with a sign that says Walker I've called their WhatsApp numbers and left messages on both their website email WhatsApp they do not respond watch out beware the Walker tours are bogus
SCAM Alert : The Walker Tours - Booked a ticket for a 10am session only arrive and not have received a ticket as indicated on the booking. Entry is 5euro and they charge 15euro…. On arrival it say wait and they will issue ticket. I received the notification after 10am. The Pantheon attendants indicated that they did not know this company and perhaps it was a scam. I contacted my bank and put a stop on my card. Be careful… I should’ve know better!
There was a self service ticket machine that had a huge lineup. People were getting confused trying to buy tickets. There was no attendants to help. We asked an attendant at one of the other spots at the pantheon. She suggested I go to one of the two other ticket offices. I went to the cash ticket office and there was no lineup at all. Kind of weird why everyone would line up at the ticket machine, while the other two ticket offices were wide-open. We got into the exhibit in no time at all. I suggested to the attendant at the door that someone should help at the self-serve ticket machine or have someone tell the huge lineup that there other ticket offices.
Excellent tour. Good audio on the phone. Marvellous place to visit. It is steeped in history and a marvel of Roman architecture. A must visit.
We were walking around Rome and happened upon the Pantheon. There were nice walls to sit on to the left of the front entrance. The next day, we went inside with our tour group. The size of the building was stunning, but the most interesting part was the ceiling. It had an oculus (a deliberate hole built into the ceiling). I've been to Europe before, but to be in a building that was constructed in 126 A.D. blew my mind! Almost 2,000 years old! It's been a Catholic church since 609. You should dress appropriately. There are many different sections, statues and a good amount of signage.
We recommend to book a tour to any one that visit this place for the first time. The information provide it made everything more interesting and we appreciated even better.
Skip the line is very helpful. The audio tour at one’s own pace was extremely informative and enjoyable.
Head out Pantheon skip the line with English guide booked for 11:25. We booked this because we are not able to stand in line for long periods of time due to mobility issues. However we still had to, we paid a premium even though 1st Sunday of the month is free admission we wanted the skip the line and guide. We got the guide but had to wait until 12:10 to enter!!! So not sure the advantage of paying $52.50 each. We had to leave the tour early because there is a limit to standing in one place. So not worth it at all, we would have gotten in at the same time on our own and could have gotten the info provided from google, the guide even said that!!!!!
The Pantheon is an ancient Roman building that was a temple, and it is one of the world's most ancient, civilized sites. The Pantheon is in the center of the city of Rome, it's a good place to take a tour. The temple dates initially from 27 to 25 BC, and was upgraded by the Emperor Hadrian in 125 AD. The Pantheon is a favorite destination for visitors to Rome.
This tour was great!!!! Our guide, Dianna, was so knowledgeable!!!! She gave us so much background information and was able to answer every question that was asked regarding the Vatican and its history. I also very much appreciate how kind and thoughtful she was.
This is just to skip the long line. The guide just lets you into pantheon with a special ticket. The guide also was informative about pantheon and other places in Rome. If you want to skip the line, this is worth it. We had time to visit at 5pm. The pantheon closes at 6:30pm. So, to skip, we booked at 3pm online and were able to make it. We downloaded the pantheon app for 2 euros. Which is a must. Or audited for 10 euros inside.
Viator Stole my money and didn’t give a ticket!! I’m in rome, booked pantheon, it gave a ticket number which ‘disappeared’, the nice man at the pantheon ticket collection said it is a voucher not a ticket, a huge family from Canada (I’m from England myself) had exact same issue, money was taken , queues forever - was supposed to be skip the queue- yet NO ticket at all. They still all our money and NO CUSTOMER SERVICE to help!!!! Scammers, thrives, I will not rest until this company is banned from any agency site
