Our guide Paulo was awesome. He totally made the trip. His passion and knowledge about our experience was top notch.

Piazza del Popolo is a very well-known square in Rome. In Italian the name means ‘People's Square’, but the name is actually derived from the poplars that surrounded the oval square. The original function of the neo-classical square, which was designed between 1811 and 1822, was welcoming visitors and pilgrims who entered Rome from the north over the Via Flaminia. A must see in Rome
Via del Corso is a well-known historical street in the center of Rome that connects Piazza Venezia to Piazza del Popolo and measures approximately 1.6 kilometers. It is the central artery of the road complex known as the Trident.
The Spanish Steps (Italian: Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti) in Rome, Italy, climb a steep slope between the Piazza di Spagna at the base and Piazza Trinità dei Monti, dominated by the Trinità dei Monti church, at the top. The monumental stairway of 135 steps was built with French diplomat Étienne Gueffier's bequeathed funds of 20,000 scudi, in 1723–1725,[citation needed] linking the Trinità dei Monti church under the patronage of the Bourbon kings of France, at the top of the steps, and the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See in the Palazzo Monaldeschi at the bottom of the steps. The stairway was designed by architects Francesco de Sanctis and Alessandro Specchi.
The Trevi Fountain (Italian: Fontana di Trevi) is an 18th-century fountain in the Trevi district in Rome, Italy, designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi...
The Pantheon, Pantheum in classical Latin, is a building of ancient Rome located in the Pigna district in the historic center, built as a temple dedicated to all past, present and future divinities. It was founded in 27 BC. from the harpinate Marco Vipsanio Agrippa, son-in-law of Augustus.
Piazza Navona is one of the most famous monumental squares in Rome, built in monumental style by the Pamphili family at the behest of Pope Innocent X ...
The fountain was commissioned by Pope Innocent X to decorate Piazza Navona, on which the works for the construction of Palazzo Pamphilj were being carried out. In 1647 the pontiff had commissioned Francesco Borromini to design a pipeline that would bring the water from the Aqua Virgo to Piazza Navona and had announced a competition for the design of the fountain in the square. In addition, the pope expressed his desire to recover the obelisk, later called Agonale, which lay in ruins in the circus of Maxentius on the Appia Antica.
The name of the square derives from the original existence in this place of a temple built by Gneo Pompeo Magno and dedicated to Minerva Chalkidiki, whose cult statue is now in the Vatican. The basilica of Santa Maria sopra Minerva, center of gravity of the entire square, was already mentioned in the 8th century by the Anonymous of Einsiedeln with the name of (ecclesia) "S. Mariae in Minervio".
Your tour guide will drop you off at the pantheon at the end of the tour

The tour led by a wonderful young man, "Yisroel" was informative, fun very educational. I would highly recommend him if you are looking to learn and enjoy yourself at the same time
Gaia was an incredible guide. She really gave us a great overview of the city center and kept two teenagers engaged.
Our tour guide Fabio met us at the hotel, and we took a taxi to our first attraction. We saw about 9 different piazzas or squares around the city. Every piazza has a church/basilica within the square. Each piazza and basilica was more beautiful than the last. Fabio was knowledgeable and friendly, and thoroughly enjoyed his job.
This was my second tour with Max, and it's great to see Rome through the eyes of someone who loves this city! He's knowledgeable, fun and the time just flies by when you are with him in this wonderful place. I plan to do more....
I live in Rome, and a few weeks ago some relatives came to visit me and my family from the UK, they had booked a tour with Italyrometours with Max, since their eldest son wasn't feeling very well they asked meto join in, I must admit that I was a bit skeptical at first regarding private tour guides in rome but it was led me to a genuinely new experience though I've been living in this country for all my life, I visited Rome in a totally new perspective, the tour itself it was long walk so be sure to wear the right shoes among the squares of Rome. Max is a very nice and competent Tour guide and I fully recommend him.
We had a full day walking tour with Max and it was great! He focused the tour on what we thought was the most interesting…. the why and how rather than when. Rome is one big museum which came alive with Max.
Max was not only a fantastic tour guide, but he also helped plan my engagement at a gorgeous property outside of Rome. Our tour was magical - with express access to top-tourist spots like the Vatican and Colosseum. Max comes on time in a beautiful Mercedes SUV and walks you through the history of Rome. He is very knowledgeable about the city of Rome and Italy as a country. I will never forget when my fiance Pete proposed to me - all with the help of Max. Max took beautiful pictures of us from afar to capture the special moment. I highly recommend Max for your tours! Especially if you're planning something special ;)
We took a guided tour, may I say Perillo Tours. Our time was a beautiful experience. Perillo planned everything so perfect. From the plane reservations to the guided tours to the hotels to the food, oh the food. We had a guide, Paulo who has been with them for 30 plus years. He is the reason you should take the tour. We will take another Italy tour next year and yes Perillo once again.
Max Parini , Italy Rome Tours, turned our dreams of Italy into splendid reality. Italy Rome Tours exceeded our expectations in every way. Please do not trust your vacation to anyone else. Max and his team of professionals were always punctual, courteous, and catered to our every need. Max made sure that we had door-to door service in comfortable Mercedes mini-vans. The English speaking guides were extremely knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. The highlight of our trip, in late September, was a beautiful day spent in the San Gimignano region of Tuscan Wine Country. We had the best time getting to know the Torciano family, who have been making fine wines in the region for the past 300 years, while enjoying samples of great food and of course the wine...oh my... the best wines. We highly recommend this tour and Max Parini, Italy Rome Tours.
Italyrometours was everything we had hoped for and more! We had the most wonderful tour guide in Catarina who took time to explain everything to us and made the best of friends with our daughter who was getting a little tired of walking in the Sistine Chapel.
Italy Rome Tours and specifically Max Parini was recommended to us by friends who had used his services earlier this year. By far he was the best tour guide we have every had. Both my husband and I as well as our 13 and 11 year old kids were truly impressed with with vast fund of knowledge and great insight not just into Roman history but also the ins and outs of touristing in Rome. This is not for the budget traveler but is is a perfect example of you get what you pay for and it was worth every dollar!
My new husband is a Roman history nerd, so I knew that a self-guided Tour of the Old City and the Colosseum for our honeymoon wouldn't do - so when an acquaintance recommended Max, I booked him immediately! The night before, I realized I'd booked the wrong tour, so I emailed Max and he responded immediately and was so friendly about making the change absolutely no problem. We spent about 3 hours with him touring the Old City and the Forum. He was a wonderful guide: he led us through a program, but was also able to respond to all questions we had and tailor the experience to us. He was lively, fun, friendly, and informative. Max offers many different tours, so I will 100% book him again for our next visit to Rome!
Touring Rome with Max was by far the best part of our trip to Italy. Max came HIGHLY recommended from friends who used him numerous times on previous trips. We spent a full day seeing all the sights and beauty of Rome through Max's eyes. My husband, teenage children and I fell in love with Rome because of Max and the unique way he was able to share his love and knowledge of his country with visitors like us. Max was able to appeal to my entire family and excite us all for the many hours we were together. He took a genuine interest in learning about our family and our heritage. Upon hearing our personal history, Max added another destination to our tour to share with us a beautiful arch that held religious meaning for my family. If not for Max we would never have known that this arch existed or learned about its rich history. Max was responsive and easy to work with from the very start. He answered all emails and questions thoroughly and quickly. Max also followed up with us after our tour to make sure we were satisfied with his services. It's impossible to fully express how happy we were with Max in every way! By the end of our day together we all felt as if we had made a new friend. Max is truly a special person and we look forward to seeing him again when we return to Italy. Our only regret was that he wasn't with us every day of our Italian vacation! Thank you Max! You made our trip to Italy truly memorable!
Lorenza and I had an unforgettable experience with Max Parini. It was on his tour that I proposed to Lorenza and it wouldn't have been as perfect if it wasn't for Max. He took care of all of the tickets to the Colliseum, Forum/Palatine, and the Vatican in advance and chauffeured us around in his large Mercedes. I would find it hard to believe that anyone is as knowledgeable and as colorful in his storytelling as Max. His level of knowedge - behind every piece of art, behind the architecture, the history of it all, is outstanding. However, what makes Max the best is his storytelling, his charisma, his ability to bring you back in time, he makes you feel like you lived it all. We had a remarkable experience with Max. Now back to the proposal. I had communicated with Max prior to our trip about doing the proposal while on his tour. I asked him to take us to a beautiful place while on lunch, and he certainly did that. Not only did he find a truly romantic venue, but he also made sure they played the song I wanted but he also played paparazzi while the proposal happened. He went out of his way and above his duty as a tour guide to make sure our day was truly special. If you are going to Rome and want to learn, to be captivated, and have an unforgettable experience, you must go through Max Parini! We will always hold Max close to our hearts.
Max outdid himself a second time. He was our tour guide two years ago and did an excellent job then. So this last trip in April we hired him again. When he picked us up at our ship it was like greeting an old friend! Max took us everywhere we wanted to go. And it's true, Max knew all the right people to help make our day go smoothly. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about Rome that every moment with him is filled with information. One wonderful tour he took us to was the Domus Romane di Palazzo Valentini. After reading about it on line, we bought tickets on Ticket One before out trip. Max made sure we were there for our scheduled tour time. This tour is of a large ancient home newly discovered under another building. Walking on clear floors, you are able to look down at the rooms to see what Roman life was like for the more well-to-do about 2000 years ago! I have to say, Max is the only tour guide I have ever invited to bring his family and stay at our home if they visit the USA. Max, you are a gem. Thank you. Enjoy your bambini!
The friend who recommended Max to us told us - once you see Italy through his eyes - you will never want to visit and do it any other way. While initially I was skeptical - I am not really a 'tour guide' kind of guy - my friend couldnt have been more right!!!! When you are with Max - you arent just learning the history or the area of Italy you are in - though his knowledge - of every area of this beautiful country - will leave you speechless. You get to understand the perspective of the locals and what the day to day for folks who live there looks like. He knows . . .everybody - for everything - the best restaurants. We were a group of 6 - all with different interests and wanting different things out of our experience. He managed to get us all the experience we wanted. He is not the pushy type to get you on an agenda you arent looking for - unless it is truly a once in a lifetime type of expereince - like the blue grotto - OMG! The oldest winery in the world! The Pompei Ruins - Mount Vesuvius! the list goes on and on. We can only wish max could come with us to our other european destinations!!! My wife and i are so grateful to Max for this amazing trip - it would not have been the same without him!!!!
If you are looking to tour Italy the best way to do it is with Max and his team at Italy Rome Tours. The tours are personalized to your needs and allow you to get exactly what you are looking for during your vacation. When getting in touch with them they were timely in returning my emails and gave me a large amount of suggestions for tours to do. They have a large variation of tours to choose from. The tours are private which was great for us because we were honeymooning. It really allowed us to get an intimate feel. The tour guides were prompt when picking you up from your hotel (super convenient) knowledgeable about the Italian culture, food, and "must -sees", very friendly, very welcoming, English speaking and genuinely proud to tell you all about Italy. All the guides drove you to the sites as well as came in the museums to become your tour guide, which allows you to build a great rapport with each of them. We used the company during our stay in Florence and Rome. All the tours we did, the company purchased tickets for us to in advance which was super helpful because lines at major attractions can be very lengthy. Purchasing tickets allows you to bypass all the waiting and enjoy. The walking tours both in Florence and Rome were a great way to start our trip because we were able to really get a feel for the cities. We saw all the major sites (Accademia, Duomo, Ponte Vecchio bridge, Pitti Palace, Vatican City, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter Basilica, Palatine Hils, Circus Maximus, Colosseum). in Florence and Rome each one with a little different piece of history. We also did the cooking class with Paolo Magnanimi. The cooking class is a fun way to dive into the Italian culture. We learned how to cook different meals and desserts and were able to eat each meal. You will definitely not leave disappointed or hungry. The last tour we did was the day trip to Pompeii and Amalfi Coast. The scenery was beautiful. The tour of Pompeii was an excellent way to see the way civilization lived in those days. The preservation of the city is incredible. While traveling to Amalfi the tour guide stopped along the coast at the best picture spots so that we did not miss them. He also recommended an excellent restaurant for us that day, with an amazing view. All and all i wouldn't travel Italy any other way.
We signed up for 2 private tours; 1. Pisa/Lucca excursion Marco was a fantastic driver and tour guide for us during this trip. He was attentive, knowledgeable about the area and attended to all of our needs. It was our first time to Pisa and he took the time to ensure we were comfortable and properly prepared for our Pisa tour. We met up with him at our designated spot and we then drove off to Lucca where we spent time in this lovely city before driving back to Rome. 2. Supreme Tour of Rome We were fortunate enough to have Max drive and conduct our whole day Rome excursion the next day. He is such an incredible source of history and information about Rome. We began our private tour at the Vatican (museum, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's and St. Peter's Square), Catacombs tour, Coliseum, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain. For lunch, Max brought us to this lovely restaurant not far off from Appian Way. We started our tour around 7:30 am and didn't finish until about 5:30 pm. Despite the long day, Max was fantastic throughout the whole tour. He had as much energy at the start of the trip as he did on the end of the trip. We could not have had a better day! We highly recommend Max and his ItalyRome Tour company! We will definitely be back!
I would most certainly recommend Max Parini 's Italy Rome Tour if you want to experience the rich history Rome has to offer. Max has a thorough knowledge of this beautiful city steeped in culture and history and never tires of answering your questions. Infact he gives such sound information that you have no questions to ask! One of the most unforgettable holidays!
Touring Rome with Max Parini, Owner of Italy Rome Tour was truly amazing! In 2 days, we packed in visits to every major site in Rome - the Colosseum, Roman Forums, Vatican, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, Appian Way, Catacombs, Circus Maximus and so much more! Max is so knowledgable and engaging, sharing the history, mythology, and backstory of every location. Equal to his enthusiasm for his beautiful city, was his ability to navigate the traffic and find great parking spots. This may sound trivial, but if you haven't been to Rome before, this is essential! Also, NO waiting in line at any site and trust me, the lines were HUGE - no doubt others waited 4 hours to get into the Vatican, while we strolled right on in! Max made everything simple - he picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel, told us what to bring/wear as necessary, and was so willing to shift things around as required by my family. One of my kids was not feeling well in the middle of our first day and without batting an eye, Max dropped her off at our hotel before continuing on with the rest of us. We can't wait to return to Italy and when we do, guaranteed we will book another tour with Italy Rome Tour. Thanks Max for a wonderful and insightful visit!!!
This is an amazing tour company, they are very much different than all the rest. We had a private tour in Rome for 2 days with a driver. The tour guides are amazing and knowledgable, ours was an archaeologist and studied the history of Rome. Our tour guide for the Vatican was a direct employee of the Vatican and Vatican archaeologist. Our drivers were very knowledgable about all areas of Rome so we were able to see more Rome by evading the traffic. Our guide in Florence was a artist and art historian, so we received the most beautiful tour of Florentine art and history. Most impressive was care in the guides and drivers in Rome and Florence that we are allowed to ask questions and learn. The guides and drivers are friendly and kind to make the tour memorable. There is so much to see and do in Italy, I would repeat our tours again and try new tours with Italy Rome Tour Company!! Thank you!!!
My husband I spent two weeks in Italy and our last stop was Rome. With so much to see, we booked a tour with Max and it was the best decision we could have made! Max picked us up at our apartment and we spent the day seeing the sights. He has so much knowledge to share and speaks perfect English. It seemed as if he knew everyone in the city and we never waited in line or had to walk far distances because Max had everything planned perfectly. We would highly recommend this tour if you are short on time and want to pack a lot of sightseeing in one day. Even if you're not short on time it would be a great way to see the city! Max is great company and fun to just be around! We loved every minute of our tour with him!
Went on a driving tour with Pam (tour guide) and Marco (driver) on Day 1 to see Colisseum/Ancient Rome and the Vatican and a walking tour on Day 2 with Pam to see lots of sights - everything from the Parthenon to the Trevi Fountain. Amazing team, amazing tour operator. Pam is wicked smart, super patient and has a great way about her. You could see how she keyed in on our interests and backgrounds and customized the tour to be just perfect for our two families. Can't say enough good things!
My wife and I spent the better part of the day with Linda as our guide on the Silver Walking tour of Vatican City and Colosseum and it was an excellent tour. Linda met us at the door to our apartment and from there started our history lesson. Her knowledge of history of Rome, the Vatican and the area was remarkable. She was prepared for everything from have prearranged all of the tickets so there was no standing in lines, to having pictures and books to explain what you were looking at, to knowing where to stand in the rooms to avoid the crowds and get the best view. We would highly recommend the Silver Walking tour of Vatican City and Linda as a guide if you are looking for an excellent tour in Rome.
Most tour guides spew facts as if giving a presentation at a local college. Not Max at Italy Rome Tour. He was infectious with passion from the moment we met him and made us just as excited to see all the wonderous sites we saw on the tour. For our honeymoon, my wife and I wanted to do a private tour of Rome. We expected a guide that would show us around, smile, tell a story or two and let the artwork and buildings speak for themselves. Not Max. He made us feel like we were family. He kept close to us, stopping and pointing small details out, whispering to us as if this discovery was something only him and us could know about. He made artwork seem alive, old buildings have new secrets to tell, that we were on the adventure of our lives and all before lunch. It was perfect. I cannot highly recommend Italy Rome Tour enough. They say "do as the Roman's do", and Max made us feel like we were Romans for a day experiencing the true city of Rome.
We had a great tour of these amazing landmarks in Rome. Max really knows his stuff and answered all of our random questions . He is many generations Roman ( if I recall correctly) and his enthusiasm for the city shows. While the Forum is rich in history and awe-inspiring, it would not have come to life as much without the detailed explanations Max provided . The Colosseum also is obviously fascinating to the eye, but there were several things one would not know to look for if Max had not informed us of it . His enthusiasm and warmth is charming. He would even put us in the best locations for photos of my husband and myself and happily take pictures. I highly recommend Max to anyone seeking that extra bit of knowledge and a personal touch.
Our tour with Max was easily the best part of our 10 day trip. We saw key landmarks over a 7 hour period. The pace was perfect, never rushed or lingering. Not only is Rome beautiful, but the history is truly amazing. Max clearly has a passion and excitement for his city which is contagious. We found Italy Rome Tour online and there is nothing but excellent reviews, and it's now clear why! I would highly recommend this group for anyone looking to see Rome and learn it's incredible history in a fun, interactive, and personal setting! Thank you, Max for sharing your love of Rome with us!!
This is our second tour with Max and once again, it was wonderful. Before I booked the tour, Max told us that he would take us to different places this time and also asked if we had any specific requests. He is always very prompt when answering emails (but do remember that there’s a time difference between Europe and the U.S.). We began our day visiting the completely empty Piazza Della Minerva which doesn’t look like much to the uninformed tourist eye, but which has a fascinating history that Max told us about in great detail. The very plain-looking Santa Maria Sopra Minerva church is just beautiful inside. Max gave us a detailed tour and showed us all of the rarities lying within. Before we left the area, we also stopped by the best coffee shop in Rome for a super-yummy cappuccino. From there, we headed to Fontana dell'Acqua Paola, which is a stunning fountain overlooking the city. Our next stop was the peaceful Non-Catholic Cemetery which was lovely; it’s a combination park and cemetery with a pyramid (yes, a pyramid) on one end. Lunch was at our friend, Paolo’s, new restaurant, Domus Magnanimi. We sat outside and enjoyed the perfect weather and even better food. We stopped by the Circus Maximus and Max told us all about Romulus and Remus and then about the crazy chariot races that occurred there. He also helped me to negotiate a deal with a local vendor who was selling merchandise (he got me a discount on a Roman gladiator dress-up costume for my son). Our final stop of the day was the Roman Aqueducts. Now a public park, this ancient invention is just amazing to see. Max told us all about the aqueducts and even showed us where one is still working. I cannot recommend my friend, Max, and his company enough. He is one of those people who loves what he does and it shows because you become engrossed and immersed in the wondrous city of Rome as he tells tales of long ago at ancient sites. Italy Rome Tour is just fantastic. Book your tour with Max and you will not be disappointed.
My husband and I took the "Rome in a day" tour, as we were in Rome for only a few days. Max was awesome. We visited all of the sites we really wanted to see and learn about, never stood in a line, and enjoyed spending time with Max and his love of Rome. He picked us up at our Air B&B, of which we couldn't even fully explain our address, but he still found us, visited many sites, he arranged a beautiful lunch for us, had water in car for us, etc. It was all of the little details that added up to a great private tour. It was totally worth the money for the private tour.
We arrive to Civitavecchia by NCL Epic. I began planning back in October and found Italy Rome Tour on Trip Advisor. They were not the top rated tour company in Rome; however, they had over 400 reviews and ALL of them were rated excellent - the highest rating. From the start Ramona communicated with us promptly. Originally it was going to be 2 of us for €490 for the tour + €150 for the private guide for the Colloseum + tickets. Then when we added friends, the cost was €550 + €150 tour guide + tickets. Ramona worked with us to plan a personalized tour. We didn't want to go to the Vatican, but rather wanted to see the Catacombs. We met Max our driver right outside where the Epic was docked. He had a 6 passenger silver Mercedes van. We had such an amazing day yesterday in Naples that I woke up this morning knowing it just wouldn't be as great as yesterday as Carmine was just so awesome. Well, I was wrong. Max, who owns this company, was amazing. Huge recommendation if you're coming to this area. He was born and grew up in Rome on Via Ripetta in the Augustus Caesar Square area. He's been a tour guide for 16 years. He was actually a tennis player who trained in Boca Raton and then went to Boston to study art, literature and language. His English is excellent. He was extremely passionate about everything we saw today. Like Carmine, he knew people everywhere. For lunch, an amazing find where we had many courses and wine for €30 per person. Live music made it an even more memorable experience. Max also took us to the best place for cappuccino and pastries - €5 for 2 cappuccinos and a pastry. He was so lively and entertaining, but serious about sharing the history. We also learned a lot about Rome and the Vatican and previous governments on the hour ride to Rome and then back. Rome has a 70% income tax plus property taxes. It is crushing. They have free healthcare; however, it takes 10 months to get in with a doctor! So they end up paying to go to private doctors. Tourism is down 20% this year due to terrorism concerns. We saw a heavy presence of military with machine guns all over Rome especially near all of the most popular sites. Rome is hoping to get the 2024 Olympics. The catacombs were very cool. Tickets were €8 per person. This price puts you with a guide to show you through the areas and teach you about what you're seeing. The tour was about an hour. Our guide was Alberto and there were 12 people in our group. While it was warm outside, it did get cool underground. Tip - I would suggest bringing a sweater or light coat if you plan on going. One thing awesome about Max at the Colloseum was he brought his iPad. So as we walked around, he would open it and show us pictures of what it originally looked like, how it looked when his grandfather was alive in the late 1800's, small details with images to explain what we were seeing and more. He showed us so much today. We're exhausted but so happy after a great tour. Please check out Max and consider him for your tour. Wonderful guy!
Max and his tour company have our HIGHEST recommendation! Our family (parents and 3 teens) spent our first day in Rome with Max and he was wonderful! Incredibly knowledgeable, personable, smart, funny, patient with all my questions, and flexible according to our interests (we had a private tour). He has illustrations and detail right at his fingertips to add even more information -- just fabulous! He knows SO MUCH about the history of Rome and about each attraction, and he clearly LOVES introducing people to his city. The day was a joy -- and so interesting! And my teenagers thought Max was as great as the adults did! We spent the whole morning at Vatican City, then a visit to Roman catacombs and the Colosseum and Circus Maximus. All in ONE DAY. and I didn't feel rushed! Almost no waiting in lines, even with the recently heightened security measures at the Colosseum. (You will be stunned at the length of some of those lines, and thankful not to be standing in them!) Truly, if you are looking for a great, personal, pleasant, knowledgeable tour company, pick this one! We were on a moderate budget and this time with Max was worth EVERY penny. We saw so much MORE with the time we had and our experience at each attraction was so much richer because of Max's knowledge!!
Have you ever visited a friend in their home town and had them show you all the sites of their city? This was our experience with Max. Our first tour with Max was Florence to Rome. We stopped on the way at the stunning Orvieto, discovering the Etruscan caves. Max had pre-booked tour tickets which allowed time to wander through Orvieto and visit the Cathedral. Next we went to Civita di Bagnoregio. Max recommended 'La Cantina di Arianna' for lunch, which was a beautifully set restaurant with incredible Italian food. Max’s historical knowledge along with his enthusiasm made this one day to remember. We also did the 'Rome in 2 Days Tour'. Taking in sites like the Colosseum, Appian Way, Pantheon, Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, Peoples Square, Keyhole, Trevi Fountain, etc. We had a fantastic lunch at a restaurant on the Appian Way. There is no way we could have covered the many sites we saw in these two days on our own! We found he had an incredible knowledge of Rome, its history and could navigate well through a busy city. He would also suggest great restaurants near our hotel. Our last trip was to Pompeii and Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast. We cannot be more grateful to Max for this day. Unfortunately my wife and daughter were very ill, and we had to call 'Italy Rome Tour' 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time to cancel. Max thankfully was able to reschedule our tour for the next day as we were due to fly home the following day. I really did not expect Max to reschedule, he was also very understanding when speaking with my wife at the time of cancelling the tour. This tour was the one my daughter most wanted to see (Pompeii), and I'm sure there were considerable logistical changes required to reschedule. When my wife advised Max had rescheduled our tour, I said "You know not many people would offer to do that these days, what an incredibly kind thing to do". Max is very kind and attentive to the differing needs of people in your touring group. My wife is unable to climb stairs easily and Max was very helpful, as you can imagine, there are many stairs in Rome. Our family had a fantastic time, we saw and learned so much, we absolutely recommend 'Italy Rome Tour'. We cannot thank you enough for the final tour Max, Pompeii and Sorrento were AMAZING!!!! It would be hard to imagine anyone providing a better tour of Rome and Italy than Max. We plan to return in 2/3 years time and continue discovering Rome and Italy with Max.
My husband and I had 3 short days to spend in Rome, and knew right from the start that we had to make the most of our time. While planning our trip, I happened across Italy Rome Tours, here on TripAdvisor. With over 400 excellent reviews, and nothing less, it was an easy decision to choose this company as our way to see as much as possible, in our limited time in Rome. We decided on the Rome in a day tour, and made our reservation, very easily, online. The day of the tour arrived, and there was Max himself, right on time, in the Mercedes mini van, waiting to whisk us away through the beautiful, ancient city. The next eight hours were nothing less than amazing. The Vatican, the Catacombs, the Appian way, lunch in a quaint villa garden, the Colosseum, and so much more! All of this with Max giving us more information than we could have imagined. He has a real passion for his city and it's amazing and varied past. This was undoubtedly the best tour we could have taken. As all the other reviewers seem to state - "Worth every penny!" We'll use this company any chance we get!! I would highly recommend Italy Rome Tours to anyone who wants to do more than just see Rome.
Of all the tours I have been on in any country, this was the absolute best. We booked a private night tour of Rome where we saw many Roman landmarks lit up at dark including the Vatican, the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and our guide even took us to get Gelato! The next day we did the all day tour and our tour guide was Max Parini! Again this was a private tour. Have you ever been on a tour that was dry and boring and you really were looking forward to the end?? NOT the case with Max! With Max the whole day was entertaining, educational and exciting. His knowledge and passion for his country and it's amazing history was unsurpassed and his energy was contagious! We toured the Vatican Museums, St. Peter's Basilica, the Appian Way, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Catacombs and so much more! Yes it was a full day but well worth every minute! If you were to try to do this on your own, there is no way it could be done! Max had the ability to get us in places without standing in the long lines. Many stand in line at the Vatican for 1/2 day and that's about all that can be done in one day! Max Parini, if we could afford to hire you to take us on a tour of ALL of Italy we would! Thank you for two of the most memorable days of our lives!
On July 30,31and my family and I had the pleasure of being guided by Max Parini throughout Rome Italy. The tour itself consisted of a tour of the Colosseum,Palatine Hill,The Appian Way,Aventine Hill,Capitoline Hill,The Vatican Museum,Gianicolo Hill,People's Square,Navona Square,Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish steps... Whew.. It was a lot but well worth it. Max was absolutely amazing. You could tell he was very passionate about his job and loved it.He was extremely knowledgable and answered all of our questions and we learned so much in the two days we were in Rome. One of the friendliest people we have ever met... My father even invited him to come to dinner if he was in the upstate my area! Highly recommend his tours you won't regret it!
We were recommended by a friend to book Max prior to leaving Canada for a fun filled day in Rome. We were not disappointed. Max is a walking encyclopedia and his passion and knowledge for the historical sites he took us to became very evident as the day progressed. With his handy iPad he would sit us down, explain what we were about to see and the history behind it so we actually appreciated what we were experiencing. Max was charming, patient and so knowledgeable that we didn't feel like we were on a tour. Six ladies and Max strolling through Rome--what more could we ask for? He also gave us recommendations for "where the locals eat" and we ended our day with the best gelato in Rome!! Thanks to Max we had an unforgettable time in Rome!! Grazie Max!!
There is no better way to tour Rome than with Max! His knowledge of the city of Rome and Roman history and his professionalism is outstanding! With 5 other friends, our trip was topped with our time spent with Max. There was no time wasted in line-ups. His excellent English, (of course with his Italian accent!), made his overview of each of the Rome highlights very easy to follow. None of our questions went unanswered. We were promptly picked up and dropped off right at our hotel. He helped with all our luggage. Max also went out of his way to personally accommodate us when we needed transportation to Orvieto. There is not enough to say about Max! He's a must when you are in Rome. Mary, one of the "act like a group" girls! Ontario, Canada
We booked the deluxe Rome tour, an all day tour of Rome. Max picked the three of us up promptly from our hotel and from the get go Max's warm and friendly nature made us feel like we had been friends for years. We covered so much in the day and Max's passion and unbelievable knowledge blew us away! Our early start at the Vatican was a dream, no long queue and the luxury of being in the Sistine Chapel with only a few others! Max is allergic to queues and took care of pre purchasing our ticket so we did not have to wait anywhere. We had a delightful lunch in beautiful garden setting, the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We had plenty of time at each place we visited, it was really up to us. Max knew all the best spots for us to take the perfect photo and we took many! We would highly reccomend Max and Italy Rome tours, he is indeed a walking encyclopaedia and we were left in awe of his knowledge. Thank you foe a wonderful day Max.
This was our first time to Rome and rather than spend 4 days just seeing a few of the attractions, we thought a private tour would be best suited. We found Italy Rome Tour on Trip Advisor and I emailed Max straight away with his availability for three of us on the two day tour of Rome. His reply was prompt including prices. Whilst some of you may feel it is expensive (this was our first reaction) having now been on the trip, it is well worth the money and we would not hesitate to use him again. There is no way that we could of seen everything we did with Max going it alone. We jumped the queues, passed security fast and Max made sure that any of the attractions/food we purchased we were not ripped off. There is nothing he does not know about Rome. We wondered if my 12 year old son would be bored, but Max made sure that he included him, and Max took great interest when we told him about the city we live in as this was once a Roman city (Lincoln). He took us to some lovely places to eat. But, we really enjoyed our lunch on the first day, I would describe it as a secret garden where perhaps most tourists are not aware of, simple food, nothing fancy, but homemade. He collected us from our hotel at 8.30am and dropped us off at 4.30pm each day. He knew all the hot spots for photos and made sure we found them amongst the crowds. In fact we could not stop laughing as us brits are quite reserved that we don't push in, wait in the queues. With Max we skipped the queues and he made sure we were at the front for everything.!!!!. By the end of the day we had banished our British etiquette. We enjoyed the two day tour that much that we asked if he could arrange for us to visit the Italian Countryside. Granted this was short notice, and as he was already fully booked, he arranged for another driver to pick us up and a guide to meet us at Tivoli, which was a 40 mins car journey from Rome. There we met the tour guide (lovely lady, sorry can't remember her name) she took us around Hadrian's Villa and the beautiful Villa d' Este. The place is wonderful with the gardens and fountains and we really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. Our driver (again very chatty with information on Rome) took us for lunch in a wonderful local restaurant, it was nice to get out of the fast pace of Rome for a day. Again we would of never of found those places on our own. The last trip did work out a little bit more expensive, which to be fair Max did point this out to us before we said yes, as we had to pay for the driver and the tour guide, rather than just a driver which is authorised to be the guide. As this was short notice it didn't bother us. Make sure you take a drink with you, as you are on the go from 8.30am till 1pm when you stop for lunch. You can refill your water with the drinking fountains. However, Max will tailor your package for you, but, we were happy to follow him. Thank you so such for sharing your historic wonderful city with us, we hope to return very soon.
This best thing we did in Italy was choose Italy Rome a Tour - we had an amazing day tour of Rome last year with Max. We were picked up promptly soon after we docked with Max waiting for us in front of the ship. A jam packed day to see as much as possible ... Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, Spanish steps, Parthenon, Vatican City and St. Peter's plus a stop for lunch and free time too! Considering the short amount of time we had, Max dos a great job. We also booked a tour to Florence and Pisa - our guide Helena was just brilliant and so knowledgeable! We will be back for longer visits and will definitely be booking longer tours as there's so much to do and see! Thank you so much!
Our Roman adventure began when Max picked us up at our hotel bright and early in the morning! We toured the city and stopped at each of the important landmarks so Max could share his incredible knowledge of his city with us. From the Catacombs to the Colosseum, we saw it all! Max is native to Rome and feels passionate about the history, art, and architecture and is able to teach you about it in a fun and informative manner. We were fascinated by the amount of history and information Max was able to share with us. Our tour of Rome with Max was truly one of the highlights of our trip and we are so thankful for this day with Italy Rome Tours. Thanks Max for making our tour such an awesome experience! You and Italy Rome Tours are the best!! We will recommend you to all of our friends as your tour far exceeded our expectations! We also booked the Pompeii, Amalfi coast, and Positano tour and we can not say enough wonderful things about our day! Daniele collected us from out hotel first thing in the morning and we enjoyed his engaging personality on our drive. We were glad that we hired a private guide at the ruins of Pompeii as we got to "skip the line" and learned more than we otherwise would have. Dalniele then drove us to Positano where we sat in the most idyllic location overlooking the beautiful Positano coastline while enjoying the best food of our trip. It was an absolutely magical day and having Daniele along made it even better? We are Daniele's biggest fans! Thanks again Italy Rome tours for making our time in your country so fabulous! We can't wait to return!
We had only 36 hours in Rome with out teenage son and daughter and wanted to get a good taste of all that Rome has to offer. We received a great recommendation from relatives to hire Max for a private tour of Rome. We did and we were thrilled! We started our day with a tour of the Vatican City. Max provides just the right amount of information to keep the teenagers engaged as we walked through the amazing art galleries. And although I had been to the Vatican museum and the Sistine Chapel in the past, I had new learnings from Max. We drove the Appian Way, visited catacombs, stopped for lunch at an old crematorium where we received stellar service and ate delicious pasta (the house wine was pretty good too after a hot morning in Rome ;) ). After lunch we visited the Colosseum - and again, after having been there before I was thoroughly engaged and learned more again! He shared great stories and history in a way that really engaged the teenagers (boy 15, girl 13) throughout the day. We highly recommend this tour for couples, groups, and families!
This was a GREAT tour with Max. He picked us up at our ship and took us to many of the main sights in Rome: the Colosseum, The Vatican, St. Peter's Basilica, The Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and many other sights along the way and back. We even had time to stop for a wonderful lunch. And we arrived back at our ship in plenty of time to spare. It is obvious that Max is a lover of history and of Rome. He exudes information and delights in sharing his knowledge, which is extraordinary. He is a joy to be with. We didn't have to wait in lines with Max. He had all the tickets we needed. He even took us to a section of the Vatican where most tourists are not allowed. Everyone seems to know Max. He's just that kind of guy. He also went out of his way to take good care of me as I had difficulty walking too much and was in a wheelchair part of the time. We had several private tour guides on this cruise. Max Parini in Rome was one of the better ones. If I ever make it back to Rome I will be contacting Max! Thanks Max :)
Our group of six had a great tour with Max. He picked us up promptly at our hotel and we then spent a great 8 hours with him. We arrived at the Colisseum before the crowds arrived and we were able to spend quality time there. We then proceeded to the Appian Way, the Catacombs, Piazza de Popolo, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and St. Peter's Square. Max was a wealth of great information. Even though several of us had been to Rome before, we learned a great deal. He also took us to a reasonable and great tasting restaurant. All in all it was a great day.
By recommendation, my friends and I (group of 8) booked the two day tour of Rome. Was told to ask for Max, but Max was already booked. Our tour guide was Marco. Marco was fantastic! It's obvious that Max has the best guides on his team. Marco entertained us, taught us, made us laugh, got us from place to place quickly and safely in a nice Mercedes van, provided us with bottled water and walked us straight to the front of huge ticket lines... I just cannot say enough good things about him. When the tour was over I felt like a friend was leaving for good. If I ever come back to Italy I will definitely book another tour with Italy Rome Tour group! Well worth the investment.
Having seen all the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, Italy Rome Tour did not disappoint! It was a superb experience. Max met my friends and I at our hotel and drove us around Rome, where he provided a personalised tour of all the popular sites in the city. He ensured we got fast track tickets into the local attractions - and on Easter weekend! In 8 hours, we saw so much - the Colosseum, Catacombs, Palatine Hill, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza del Popolo! We even had lunch at a beautiful Roman Trattoria under some stunning orange trees. Max is funny, friendly and very knowledgeable and most importantly, didn't make us feel rushed at all. We took our time to look around, take pictures and just admire the wonders of this stunning city. He even recommended some wonderful places to eat dinner, which also didn't disappoint. If I could rate Italy Rome Tours higher than 5 stars, I would. Thank you so much for making our first time in Rome special!
We could never have covered it all in one day by ourselves, and Max made it all come alive.when we walked past the first never ending que we knew we booked the right tour.we learned far more then we ever expected to.Donal
My wife and I spent a couple nights in Rome in early October while on our babymoon. We booked two tours through Italy Rome Tour. The first was a 3 hour tour of the Vatican that we really enjoyed. The Vatican is insanely crowded and by the time we arrived in the afternoon the line was wrapped completely around the building. However, when you book a private guide you get to skip all the lines and head straight into the museum. Score! Fortunately and unfortunately our tour fell on the day The Festival of the Family began so St. Peter's Basilica was closed. We did, however, get to see Pope Francis speak to the crowds later that evening which was a surprise bonus. The real highlight of our time in Rome was our full day tour with Max. He picked us up at the St. Regis in the morning and drove us to all the sites on our itinerary. We began our day at the Colosseum. We are both engineers so we were particularly fascinated by the functional design of this ancient wonder. Max was incredibly knowledgeable and had so many interesting details and stories to share. I feel like we could have spent the entire day at the Colosseum alone. One of the things I particularly enjoyed about Max's tour was the information and photos he was able to reference on his iPad. The impact of seeing representations of historic places when they were operational was very helpful when trying to immerse oneself in the storied history of Rome. Other notable stops included the Catacombs, the Pantheon, The Appian Way, The Circus Maximus, and People Square. Unfortunately we didn't get to Trevi fountain since it was covered due to restoration. I want to specifically mention our lunch at Hostaria Antica Roma. This restaurant is located near our stop at the Appian Way. Max kept mentioning that he had a special lunch prepared for us. I was somewhat dismissive wondering how special it could really be. Wow, was I wrong. From the moment we walked into this very historic building we were treated like royalty by Paolo. We dined well on homemade cheese, white lasagna, and chicken that was to die for. Despite the decadent meal we couldn't resist trying both the peach and traditional tiramisu for dessert. What a treat! My wife and I have taken many private tours in various cities around the world. We had four on this trip alone, in fact. It's hard to put into words precisely what made our day with Max so special. Sure he has a great personality, is passionate about sharing knowledge with his clients, and goes above and beyond to meet and exceed expectations. But I feel like there was something truly special about our time in Rome that we can attribute to the fact that we took this specific tour with Max. Go ahead and book yours too! I promise you won't be disappointed.
We were met by Max at our ship and then driven into Roma, learning all about the area enroute, along the Aurelian way! (Still remembered!). Max took us the St Peters Square, then onto the Circus Maximus, into the Colosseum and down into the Forum. Having Max was fantastic as having been before without 2 teenagers we found we learned so much from him. He was happy to answer loads of questions and really knows his stuff. The tour was tailored to exactly what we wanted to do. We included a stop for lunch, with Max taking us to a lovely locals eatery. We finished with a lovely Gelato that Max knew of. What flavours! Max safely returned us to the Queen Elizabeth in plenty of time before sailing. It was a warm day and the Aircon in the Mercedes was a god send. We researched going on planned tours, but opted for this personal tour and boy did we make the right decision. If we are back in Italy, we will be calling on Max again. Book him, he was terrific. Well Done Max.
