We had a wonderful time. Our driver was excellent and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating.
If you want a small group with more flexibility, this is a great option. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and very conversational.
I enjoyed Florence, the only thing was it was a fast tour. The ride was long and the Van was crowded. If the tour was set-up by train, we could of had more time to shop and tour Florence.
I should have paid more attention to previous reviews. The tour company cancelled the tour the day before without any explanation. When we tried to reach out as to why, there was no response. We were very disappointed. I would recommend taking the train yourself. I saw over 60 daily trains to Florence from Termani train station and hiring a guided tour when you get there, and then taking a train to Pisa, if you want. The main attraction in Pisa is the leaning tower which you can walk to from the train station, take a picture and hop back on the train, literally 15 minutes.
Chiara Antonelli is A M a ZI NG!! She was the most energetic, true historian, full of valuable information for the Vatican tour. Truly grateful for having her! Her Bostonians/Cretan Greeks were truly blessed to have her. Charlie & Cyndie
Elisa is an excellent tour guide, very friendly and very knowledgeable on the history. 5 star experience and we will be back.
Our guide, Mounir (hope I’m spelling that right!) was young, but very knowledgeable about all things Florentine. He was kind enough to stop or ho more slowly when some of us were a bit tired, as it was also a very hot day. (More difficult for us older folk!). Well worth it!
We had a wonderful driver and the guide in Florence was awesome! Our guide was knowledgeable and made the tour fun. Overall, good experience!
Save your money and just buy train tickets. I was picked up from my hotel as per the agreement. Vehicle was extremely dirty inside and out. Vehicle was poorly maintained and was very loud. Driver or "tour guide" Stephano drove extremely fast and provided very little information. When we arrived in Florence, the driver pointed in a direction for us to go, but the others on the tour and I had so little information that we didn't get to see everything we wanted to see. We were driven to Pisa, and were told that there's not much to see there so there's no need to spend more than 5 minutes there. The other tourists convinced the driver to wait for us to see the grounds and he agreed on an hour. On the way back, there were several places we could have stopped for sunset pictures of the Mediterranean sea and the driver didn't stop until he needed to get fuel. I tried to engage the driver several times to get more information about the area we were driving through and was told "I don't know, just some small insignificant town." Trust me on this one, skip this "tour" and just buy train tickets.
The driver very friendly and did his job Unfortunately the organization. Very bad very little time to visit the places and the explanation of the lousy guide regarding quality and price is not worth it
The driver could not speak a word of English and was most unprofessional in that he did not check our names to see if we were entitled to be on the tour. He did not at any stage introduce himself so I have no idea what his name was. His car broke down and limped into Florence. Our tour was booked for 1pm and this happened at 10.30am. He arranged for a tour guide to arrive at 12 noon which she did. On our 2 hr tour we saw the wonders of Florence, but our guide was less than professional and lacking in knowledge. I suspect she had been called in as an emergency and did her best, but was sadly lacking. Our driver had 3-4 hrs to find a solution and did not. There were many options available, a replacement car, a rental car, contacting another tour company and ask if they could pick us up after our tour, a taxi back to Florence and we could have caught a train back to Rome, none of which seem to have been considered by him and he assured us the car was right to return to Rome. We missed our tour of Pisa and fifteen minutes out of Florence his car broke down again. We stood on the side of the road for more than 2 hours and still he did not have a solution to the problem. Eventually the vehicle (with us still in it, which I am sure must be illegal) was towed on the back of a towtruck to a car park in the middle of nowhere. A taxi finally arrived at 5.45pm and took us back to Rome. We arrived at our pick up point at 8.45pm with no apology from the driver who clearly does not have a plan B if this should happen and his main priority was his vehicle. He was rude, arrogant and had no sense of responsibility for the passengers whose lives he put in danger on several levels. He refused to listen to us and could not speak English which further exasperated the already bad situation. He lied to us on several occasions when we asked what was happening, but generally ignored us entirely. When we said we would not leaved the vehicle so it could be towed away and be left on our own, he was furious and we were probably lucky we could not understand what he said. This is the worst experience I have encountered on many years of travel and will demand a full refund of our fee for the tour. I suggest he was contracted to be a driver and that he owned the vehicle and it seemed he spent an hour and a half arguing with either Romeatravel or Viator. He would not let us speak to them which was a further insult to our intelligence. I doubt he had national road insurance or perhaps even insurance to cover his vehicle or his passengers. He was also the first to be dropped off home on our return in the taxi, which further confirmed his total disregard as to whether we got back safely or not. The buck stops with Viatour as this tour is advertised under your banner and it was an absolute disgrace from start to finish. had a guided tour of Florand broke down and spend 3 hours waiting for him to get a two truck and tax
Demanding a full refund. Unsafe vehicle broke down twice. No Pisa. Stranded on hwy 2hours. Horrible.
wonderful driver. knowledge of all routes. very good explanations of places visited.. gave tips of how to spend the time wisely. given advised all the time
Such a great experience. I enjoyed this day trip. Kudos to our driver, Stephano for his patience and keeping us safe while we are on the road. Our local tour guide Ghergana was wonderful too. Highly recommended for this day trip.
Avoid this tour at all costs! I paid $200 per person. Driver spoke no English, Van had no AC on a hot day and his driving was so erratic that I almost called police. He was texting while driving, kept getting lost & refused to stop for a toilet break on a 4 hour car ride. I had to urinate in the car. (No choice). He tried to drop 2 older ladies a mile from their hotel and only when they argued did he let them back in the van. It took him 45 mins to find their hotel. They couldn’t help him due to the language barrier. I’m not saying that drivers need to be fully bilingual but they should be able to understand some of the language of their customers. What if there was an emergency? We only had 50 minutes in Pisa due to “time” however that morning it took him over 1 hour to pick up 3 parties. We were picked up at 6:45 AM but the last person not until 8. Over an hour as he kept getting lost! So we were rushed due to his incompetentence! When I contacted company I was told that I’m unappreciative of “working people” and that “all of their drivers have licenses.” Is that supposed to give me confidence? They also said that texting and driving is “ok” in Italy I was very afraid for the safely of my husband and myself. Twice other drivers honked and flipped him off due to bad driving. There was a bad accident on the way home that made the drive an hour longer. While the traffic was not his fault he was unable to tell us what was going on! We were all hot, tired and had to use the restroom but he just kept saying he didn’t understand. Thus I had to relive myself in a pop bottle. This company really needs to be audited by the Italian Board of Tourism. I don’t know how they have a business license! I will say that our guide in Florence was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and took us all around. I highly recommend her. But she wasn’t enough to save this disaster of a day
This trip was very rushed. It is a long drive to Florence and Pisa and you don't get much time to explore/sight-see at either location. Plus the van we had was terrible, the drive was extremely bumpy and uncomfortable and on the way back there was no AC.
I do believe that our guide spoke maybe 5 sentences the entire day. From Rome to the gas station for snack, then to Florence and Pisa, back to Rome. I was truly hoping to get some local or history commentary. Seemed like we paid for hotel pickup and drop off NOT a tour!
Florence and Pisa are gorgeous places to go and see, would highly recommend going to visit the places. Only let down we have about this trip is the organisation and communication from the tour lead to us. Other than that, very kind driver and perfect day out.
A real scam. Booked an English speaking day tour to Florence & Pisa for my husband and I plus our grandson for $625 Come to find out the driver didn’t speak any English and dropped us off in Florence and gave us a time to meet to go to Pisa for a short visit. The info never said it was just a ride to Florence because we could have taken the train for $10 each and gotten there much faster with more time to see the sights. We were accompanied with another tourist that booked with the intention of paying for a real English speaking tour — so we were not the only ones deceived. What an EXPENSIVE ride for $825, especially when the train would have been only $80 round trip for us four tourists.
Driver was driving safely. How choice of vehicle was not good. Too cramped they tried to fit 8 people in yeh van for a 4 hr one way drive. In front side passenger sun shade was broken. It would have been more comfortable if there were 6 people in the car.
Bus broke down. Never made it to Florence or Pisa. Went to a different town that wasn’t worth the time or money.
old car and not comfortable , very short time to spend in pisa only 40 minutes after 4 hours travelling!!!! no guide. I didn't recommend
The driver tried so hard to cover the distances required, travelling over 160 km/h for large stretches so that we could be dropped outside the busy city centre of Florence. We had 3 hours to find anything that was not a very long, prebooked queue, push past the street vendors with scam tickets to the same venues and also get lunch. It was enough time to realise that summer is the wrong time and that a couple of days with pre booked tours would be great. Then on to Pisa, at high speed, left outside the square, with 1 hour to explore the expansive museums, chapel, baptistery and tower. Oh, no prebooked tickets… next entry is 3 hours away. The chapel is free, if you can wait for 2 hours for the next free entry time, otherwise euro 7 to go in now. Then 3 hours at high speed, dodging through traffic, to make it back to Rome. Lucky no one was car sick.
We paid $840.22 for our trip from Rome to Florence and Pisa. It took about 3.5 hours to drive from Rome to Florence and we were only given 3 hours to see the city. The driver left us 0.5km away from the city and told us “I will see you in 3 hours at this spot.” We paid you for a tour of Florence, but what we received was just a taxi driver. We had no guidance whatsoever, no one to tell us where to go, what important sites to see, nothing. We were on our own. We had to walk very fast in a city we did not know for 3 hours, to try and find the important things to witness. We did not even have time to enjoy a meal because of all of this. The trip was very unpleasant. Already exhausted with the drive and hurriedly walking around the city, we had to to drive another hour and 20 minutes in this very small and tight van to go to Pisa. And once we arrived in Pisa, our “tour guide” told us we had 40 minutes to do whatever we wanted and had to respect the time given to us. We had no time to do anything there. The line to go into the Tower of Pisa alone was an hour wait. Obviously this is more time than what we were even given. The driver was a very nice man, but he was instructed to do what we had done. For what we did and the amount of time it took and especially for what we paid, I would strongly advise everyone to skip this tour. This tour would’ve been better just by watching a video on YouTube. Very disappointed by the whole experience.
Florence was beautiful and I fully recommend this tour. A small group tour was fine for this part of our trip. The driver was knowledgeable about the area and gave pointers on where to go while we visited the area.
It was worst Driver won’t turn on air conditioning We booked car for 8 people They send for 6 It was like tour in misery 2 people he made us sit in front Legs are still jammed
Seeing the tower in Pisa was fun but was very limited on time in Florence and in Pisa. The DaVinci museum was also nice but again the time was very limited.
Great service and excellent driver. Save alot of time then going independently. 👍 would do it again
Cost of trip versus what we got was not a good value. All the tour was the driver dropping us off. I think the cost was too high for the service.
The tour company called us the evening before to tell us that this tour was full and we could not go. I had a confirmation number and tickets and it had been charged to my account. They offered a trip to Pompeii, Positano and Amalfi coast so we figured let’s just do that since we had nothing else planned. That tour was a joke. It included nothing but a driver, no admission tickets no tour guide and they charged us the same amount as the other tour which included admissions and tour guides. When we tried to text the woman who originally texted us to cancel our other trip she never responded. Ver disappointed.
I wish we would have spent the same amount of time in each place, not 3/1. one hour was to little time in Pisa and way too much time in Florence. the driver was a very nice man but I know the family we traveled with were not very happy.
I booked this tour months in advance. I had booked many tours in advance so I had my schedule for our trip to Italy lined up with one tour each day and not much wiggle room in between. I used the drop down box when I booked the tour to pick the hotel I was staying at. When I received my voucher, it said to reach out to the company the day before to double check the time that I would be picked up at , further stating the time of pick up could alternate between 30 and 60 minutes. The pick up was to be at the hotel I was staying at. 5:30 the day before the tour I received an email not a text message, not a phone call, I received an email through the Viator app that I did not see until I double checked my voucher because no one picked us up at our hotel the morning of the tour. I reached out to the company the day before numerous times trying to verify the time of pick up with no one answering the phone. When no one showed up at our hotel the concierge at our hotel attempted to call the company numerous times throughout the day with no luck. I had to rebook the tour with another company, luckily I had one day with no tour in the 9 days we were in Italy, at a much higher price. I am still currently fighting to get my money back. I booked other tours that were a lot less expensive with whom I received phone calls and text messages with even the slightest change in either start time or pick up or meet place. This was one of the most expensive tours I booked and all I got was an email. Terrible company to deal with ! No customer service. No response. Do not book this tour with this company!
First, this was not a tour. It was transportation only. While the list of things not included was a tour guide, the description of the trip and the classification under "Tours" on the Viator page implies it is a tour. This is just a driver with a van taking a small group to Florence and Pisa. The van the company selected for this trip was too small for the 8 passengers. One passenger was expected to sit between the driver and the other passenger in the front seat! The air conditioning had no vents in the back, and the power was insufficient to cool 9 people on the road for 8 hours altogether. It was miserable! Because the van was not licensed to enter the central part of the city where all the landmarks were located, we had to park a considerable distance. No maps or instructions for getting tickets were provided. While the area was easy to find, it was a long way and it would have been nice to have a map showing each of the sights and perhaps instructions on how to get tickets (no skip-the-line tickets were included). We were all on our own. This company needs to re-write their ad and classify it under "Transportation". While nothing in the ad was incorrect, it was very misleading. So, if you are looking just for transportation and have done your research on locations of things and you are fine with a long walk, this one is for you. If you are looking for a tour, pass this one by.
This was the worst experience. The van that they used was dirty, old and the worst was NO air conditioning in the back of the van: we sat in the back for a total of 8 hours with no air. Plus I booked the tour for 4 adults and when they arrived there was seats for 3 adults the 4’th was a 1/2 seat next to driver and front passenger. My small child was forced to share a seat with a very large women that took up almost the seat and a 1/2. We only were given 3 hours in Florence no time to do any tours and 1 hour in Pisa. Don’t book this, it’s disguised as a tour but is just a transport service which was awful conditions. Take the train to Florence, faster has AC and no sharing seats!
Not a tour. This is a transportation service, that drops you off and tells you to meet back at a certain time. No maps, no direction. Our driver never spoke in the 13 hours we were with him, unless it was the time we needed to meet up. We have no idea what history we missed as nothing was pointed out. We were completely lost in Florence, opting to have lunch at the pick up point because we didn't know were anything was located and if we would have enough time.
This trip never happened. The tour company asked me on Sunday afternoon if I could switch from Tuesday to Monday. We had another tour scheduled for Monday, but moved it to Tuesday to accommodate their request. In the middle of the night on Sunday they notified me that the tour was full and they could not honor the reschedule. But they could book me on Tuesday, which was the day of the original booking. I will make sure to never use this company again. After all this, they would not originate the request for the refund. I had to fill out the form.
I had signed up for a Florence & Pisa trip on May 23rd. Driver came to pick us up at the hotel and he also had to pick up 4 other passengers from different hotels. After everyone was in the car his car wouldn't start. Driver had to call for the cab to take us back to the hotel and I had to pay for the taxi fare. It was a very disappointing experience .I'm still waiting for someone to reach out to let me know when I will be getting my money back.
Don’t listen to the negative reviews This was an amazing Full day trip yes it far in the taxi transfer but engage with your driver we had a wonderful driver called Savero he was very knowledgable we were asking him questions along the way he was pointing out key sites along the way, the trip itself we had enough FREETIME to explore Florence which was beautiful great tip go on the horse and carriage it’s only €50 for 4 people and u get a guided tour out of it great way to the sites it’s 25 mins well worth it. Pisa is very small town but all u need is an hour or so here go get your ticket to go up the leaning tower straight away though it’s not for the faint hearted a lot of steps but take it slow. Overall very impressed with the day trip, enjoyable journey, a few drink stops along the way, hotel pick up and drop off made for an easy no hassle day trip.
Tour operator very courtesies, driver was very nice guy, prompt in time, we enjoyed drive and our day tour.
The driver was fantastic. He was very nice, experienced and caring. However, the van was very cramped and it was very uncomfortable. Loved Pisa and Florence.
It was just a taxi service for 2 dop points in Florence and Pisa. It's not a guided tour on what to visit in Florence for museums and squares as mentioned in description. You will be on your own to figure out things.
I felt like I paid only for transfers Driver going to drive and leave you at Florence And ask you to come back in 2.5 hrs Excuse me … how Could anyone cover Florence in 2.5 hours it’s very difficult Then rush to Pisa Only 20 minutes… how’s that possible I will definitely not recommend this trip to anyone Please go by train instead running behind this trip All travellers were oldies with me 😕
The richest city in history in the world. Well organized tour and friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful places, beautiful weather and beautiful people. We recommend it to everyone!
Seeing Florence and Pisa was amazing! 10/10 would recommend doing so if you just want to see what they’re about. My only flaw with this trip is that the van was very old and a little unsafe, meaning the door didn’t shut all the way and rain was falling inside the van…me and a guy from a different family were pretty scared and just hoping the door would not fly open. I did other tours, not with this company, and the vans were more safe and updated. Also the driver was on the phone the whole time coming back, while driving in the rain going really fast. So just make sure you hold on tight!
This was totally mis-sold. This was nothing more that a taxi to Florence and Pisa. We arrived in Florence at 1055 was pointed in the direction of the centre and told to be back by 13.20 - allowing only 2.5 hours in Florence - there was no guided tour, no maps - absolutely nothing. In Pisa we were were given 40 minutes. The family with me in the Mini bus wanted more time but the driver said he had to leave at that time as he had had a long day the previous day, this particular day and the following day. I could have got a return to Pisa via Florence for £75, departing later, allowing more time in Florence and returning later. I require compensation with a refund between the train fare and what I paid which will be £50.
Worse experience. The driver was driving like crazy fast, careless, and no words entire time. he took us to downtown Florence and said: OK 2 hours and be back here. Go. Then he drove us 1 hour to Pisa. same thing. There is it. 40 min to 1 hour. He drove us back for 4 hours. People got carsick and it was the worse... Do NOT take this tour!!!!!
Florence was a very beautiful city, Pisa tower was worth the travel. Our driver, Stefano was fun and helpful. We recommend.
We did not receive an English speaking driver. He could only try to communicate with us through google translate. What To Expect information is wrong. You do not stop or pass by the listed places. We only stopped twice at nearby parking lots. The driver pointed down street to indicate where to go. Due to him not speaking English he used google translate to try to tell us when to return.
It’s a free day with transportation between cities and back to rome but our driver was amazing, Florence and Pisa were so beautiful! You can ask the driver any questions and he’ll be happy to answer if he can, but all and all it was amazing and worth the price!
