Through City Rome Tours, we bought three tickets for €165 to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel with fast-track access. In the end, we waited 65 minutes for the representative who was supposed to give us the tickets, so we entered the museum 35 minutes later than our scheduled time. It was an absolute tragedy. If we had stood in line, we would have waited a maximum of 20 minutes, and the price would have been €60. It was a complete waste of money. I do not recommend it at all. We did not receive the services we paid for, and after 65 minutes, they gave us tickets worth €20 each. I definitely do not recommend City Rome Tours. Buy your tickets directly from the seller. Entrance to museums is faster and cheaper.

A private tour is the only way to go. Stephania was very knowledgeable and actively showed and discussed the incredible amount of history and art we saw. Without her guidance, I would have walked past the truly remarkable pieces we saw.

Stephania was the perfect guide. She mixed history with modern teachings and gave us the complete package. She was very attentive to our wants and had a thorough knowledge of many subjects. I had twin 17 year old boys that are tough to keep focused and that was not an issue at all with Stephania. I could not imagine doing this tour any other way. Book a private tour with Stephania if you want to guarantee a memorable experience for life.

Stephanie had a great job as a Tour Guide. She really brought to life a lot of the paintings in the sculptures and set a canvas of understanding for us to work on. We had a private tour and I would highly recommend it. There was four family and her but she was awesome. The crowds were circumvented best we could but 30,000 people a day come through the Vatican so it’s hard to be not in a crowd, but she did a good job of sequestering us into certain areas for discussions. The headset worked great and it was a good way to communicate .

First thing- the rating is based on the tour guide and company. Vatican City, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s are amazing and anyone who goes to Rome should visit. The issue was with our tour. Our tour guide spoke some English but had trouble communicating with us and explaining what we were seeing. During a busy time of the year she needed to be able to communicate better and get us to the key things in each area. We basically were part of a herd of humanity following each other. Finding out interesting facts about certain things we saw after the fact by googling them isn’t what we paid a lot of money for a private tour. The tour company should vet/train their tour guides when they charge what they do. The tour guide seemed surprised she was given an English speaking group and did say she didn’t speak the best English but would try her best. So the tour company should have known this. Additionally, as we were told on our reservation confirmation we arrived one half hour early then were told that our reservation was for a half hour later than on the email confirmation but had never been notified of this. So we spent a hour waiting to start the tour. Bottom line- go see Vatican City but choose your tour as best as you can and hope it works out.

Our family appreciated the guide's deep knowledge of the Roman Catholic tradition (even though we are not Catholic) and his level of engagement to help us understand the importance of what we were seeing.

Visting the Vatican and all it entails is a wonderful experience. The Guide was well informed but difficult to understand and very soft spoken. Even though we used Whispers, if you weren't standing next to him it was difficult to hear what he said.

I'm quite disappointed. The guided tour was supposed to last 3h, it lasted only 2h ! The guide left us outside of St Peter's Basilica after giving us a few explainations. It was up to us to do the visit by ourselves. Looks like a rip off to me.

Anna was a great tour guide - very knowledgeable and flexible on where we wanted to spend more time. Highly recommend this tour agency. We had difficulties getting to the Vatican that morning and the agency spoke to our Uber driver and coordinated a new meeting point to make it easier on us. They always went above and beyond in working with us on our trip to Rome.

Meeting point not marked at all…difficult to find. Even though we arrived 10 minutes prior to our meeting time of 8 am, Viator employee never showed up until 8:15. we didn’t know if we were even at the right place. Guide was just ok, waste a lot of time explaining irrelevant things when we could’ve been exploring other areas.

Although it was crowded the tour we booked mad entry easy and relatively quick. Our guide was very informative and answered any questions we had.

Our guide was personable, knowledgeable and engaging. She answered all of our questions. She understood our background and tailored her explanations accordingly to our knowledge level. We very much enjoyed our tour and guide. Unfortunately, I’ve forgotten her name. Otherwise, I would definitely have included it here.

I can not just pick one moment. It all is breathtaking. Dr Peter‘s Basilica is overwhelming and beautiful.

The Vatican and the Sistine Chapel were breathtaking. The tour was wonderful, but the transportation to-and-from our ship cost twice as much (€400) as Viator told us it would.

What a wonderful experience we had on our private tour. Even though my significant other had studied Roman History in University, both he and I learned an immense amount of fascinating facts on this tour. At first I was a bit skeptical because they promote their tour in front of the Vatican waiting line. Turn out that they are legit business. Our group is small which is a plus. The tour guy, Federico is amazing. Federico is very professional, passionate and knowledgeable about everything :) Definitely will recommend to join their tour with great tour guide!

Unfortunately, this was not a good tour. Our guide David was more occupied on his cell phone then giving us an informative tour. I would not book here again for the cost we paid for a private tour.

Chiara is extremely witty, knowledgeable, and energetic. My wife and I have done many tours in numerous places over the years and Chiara is hands down the best guide we’ve ever had.

Francesco was a fantastic guide, and his excitement and passion for all the aspects of the museums and the works they house was evident. Learned so much while having an enjoyable time--he also was able to show us some of his favorite pieces that he usually doesn't get to do with larger groups. Definitely recommend!

Very informative and educational tour with local Italian guide Gabriel. Learnt a lot with my family.

We did not book any ticket before the arrival and were approached by the sales guys on the street. After various questions we opted for the guided tour of the Vatican museums, the Sistine chapel and then we're able to walk around the st peters church without a guide at the end as long as we want. I've seen a bit more competitive prices to be honest but am glad we did the tour with Fred (Federico) in English who gave us great insights about the statues and the history. Therefore I would definitely recommend the tour with Federico!!
