We had an incredible tour with Frederico! He is super knowledgeable and passionate about Roman history. He was very patient with our 82 year old mother who has mobility issues, and helped us get a wheelchair and navigate the tour easily.

Reviews
The tour was very interesting and our guide Simone did an excellent job showing us all the sites and explaining the history and significance of each one. The only disappointment was not being able to get into the Colosseum.
Rocco our guide was amazing. He was so good listening and explaining things to our 7&9 year old grandson’s. He also kept the pace slow for us older grandparents. We have done this tour for times. Rocco was the best.
Fantastic experience with this Tour. We had family from 25-85 and it was very hot but our tour guide kept us so engaged everyone loved the experience. He found shade for us when needed and was a wealth of information. We would definitely use this group again.
Our guide Gracelyn Monaco was simply amazing. The tour was perfect and our guide was very informative and fun. I have two younger kids whom she got involved and my older children said it was the most fun they had the whole trip! I strongly recommend her.
The organisation and detail and communication of information from start to finish was exceptional. Everything wotked like clockwork Denis our guide was very knowledgeable and communicated in English faultlessly and shared lots of information. We could not done as well by ourselves
Donatella was our guide for this tour and she was AMAZING! She had so many interesting facts to share and kept it interesting for my teen, tween and myself and my husband. She knew the areas that were less crowded as well as great spots to take beautiful photos. I can't recommend Donatella and this tour highly enough!
We had an excellent time with Antonio! He was very knowledgeable and shared tons of fascinating information! Made touring historical places far easier for us!
Excellent tour with an outstanding guide. Very knowledgeable. Recommended to all
We had the most amazing tour with Donatella who was passionate, knowledgeable and made customizations to the tour to perfectly fit our interests. She made our day and when we come back to Rome we will reach out to her again!
Excellent tour and brilliant guide, so knowledgeable. It was busy but the beat the queue system moves along quite quickly so not really an issue. Even though we had an early start - 8am there were still lots of people about but all very good humoured. Thank you
Our guide, Siriki, really knows his history, not just around Rome but, around Greece and Egypt and other far away places. Provided a planned potty stop and the pace was easy too.
Outstanding tour guide will definitely use this company again and would love to request the same guide. Perfect from start to finish
We were guided by Donatella who was a really great tour guide. She shared some wonderful history and had pictures/artist renditions of what the places we visited looked like during history. I highly recommend her and this private tour.
Our tour of the Forum and Coliseum with Marta were both fantastic. She connects well with her tour guests and has an incredible amount of knowledge. There is so much to learn about the history of Rome and Marta shared it with us verbally, in pictures on a tablet, and by pointing out specific things that we would have missed otherwise.
Simone was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and kept us on track without being pushy. I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to learn the true history of Rome.
This was my second tour with this company and I only have excellent things to say. The guides are professionals with tremendous knowledge of Rome, its history and art. And group sizes are small. I was one of three with a guide. Further, the company excels in making the experience as efficient as possible. I’ve done free tours (that aren’t free) with a group size of thirty. This is def worth the extra time!
This tour was great experience with local guide the really knew her way through the historic site. She was very thorough and was able to really put personal touch on the information given.
Eugenia, our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and easy-going. My wife & I were impressed with her knowledge of the Roman Forum, Colosseum, & especially Palatine Hill. Also, included was a visit to Augustine’s home on the hill side. This was very intriguing and spectacular, as the site is nearly 2000 years old but still has frescas in tact! She is a very wonderful person, and answers any questions you may have.
Donatella Mauceri was AMAZING!! She knew all the history and made the tour fun but knowledgeable. She is very family oriented and makes you feel like a great family friend. I would definitely recommend and do her tour again!
Our tour was good and would rate three stars just for the three sites we gained access to. Francisco was a very nice and friendly person and clearly knowledgeable about these ancient sties, their history and surroundings. When we asked questions he provided details and context but was not spontaneously verbose providing a running commentary as other tour guides we have had. I don’t want to say anything negative exactly, but we spend a few hours on this tour and from our experience with other tours we did not learn as much expected. I chose Through Eternity Tour based on the recommendation of a YouTube personality that I trust due to the extremely high quality of his channel. The quality of this particular tour I would rate good overall.
I’ve taken a lot of tours with different tour groups and have enjoyed your tour guides and the experiences with your tour guides the most. Thomas gave us a thorough tour of the Colosseum and surrounding area. We really felt we had a good glimpse back in time and were in awe of the entire experience. Highly recommend. A very enjoyable day with Thomas.
Graceland was a wonderful guide. She made sure we say everything and she was very helpful at giving us history updates. I would live to do more tours with her.
Gracelyn was a fabulous guide! She is one of those teachers who can really make history fun and interesting! We thoroughly enjoyed our time with her and we appreciate her patience and personal touch. She had indepth notes and graphics prepared and took every question the group threw at her. She was even patient and attentive with our five-year-old little daughter, who loved the attention. We highly recommend Gracelyn as a tour guide, and we hope to have more tours like hers. She is a true gem. Thank you Through Eternity Tours!!
There is so much history and information that it’s incredible that our guide, Inga, could answer any question and knew so much. She tailored the walking to our capabilities and expertly arranged the tour to avoid the long lines. This was a great tour to do after the Vatican as there is quite the connection between the two.
I've gone on many tours over the years and traveled fairly extensively. This is definitely one of the BEST tours I have ever been on and the rest of my group of eight agreed. This was my 3rd visit to the colosseum, 3rd to Forum but 1st to Palatine Hill. Ricardo brought everything into perspective & helped us understand not only what we were seeing but why & how these things fit politically, economically & socially into the history of Rome. He answered our many questions & was sensitive to one member of our group who was needing to go a little slower. I cannot recommend Ricardo & Through Eternity enough!!! You will not go wrong booking with this company! I also recommend if you are interested in history, then pay that little extra for the Super Sites. They are truly worth it! We saw newly opened House of Tiberius, House of Augustus & Livia. The murals were stunning and rivaled those we have seen in Herculaneum. It gave provided wonderful insight into the lives of the rulers of Rome.
Guide was funny, extremely informative, and allowed time for questions and exploration. He was professional and kept the group together in a very crowded day.
Another great tour by Through Eternity Tours. Brandon was our fantastic tour guide, and we so appreciated his storytelling, deep knowledge, and ability to relate to us. Our teen daughter has a tendency to get a bit squeamish about "gory topics" and Brandon was able to modulate some of the "gory details" of what went on at the Colosseum. We all learned so much about Ancient Rome and how some of what happened then still plays out today. Thank you for an incredible experience!!!
Thomas Robinson was our excellent, knowledgeable private tour guide for 2 days for us and our 2 friends. Our tour with him on the second day was to the Colosseum. His education and background in archeology, ancient history, theology and culture was educational and entertaining. His personality and enthusiasm for what he shared made our experience unforgettable. We felt like we made a friend for life and wish he could have accompanied us to Greece.
We had an amazing tour with Thomas! He was passionate about the history of Ancient Rome, incredibly knowledgeable, and explained everything we were seeing in an informative and entertaining way-like the best sort of college professor. We felt like he was the perfect guide for our family, and he even offered recommendations for lunch for after our tour. On a more practical note-having someone to guide you through the entry process at the Colosseum is such a time saver! Thank you Thomas for a wonderful morning!
Thomas brought humor and depth to our tour of the top ancient sites for our class of US university students. We had spent a semester studying this city of Rome and it was a perfect way to start our visit to the city. Looking out over the forum with the sun hitting the huge vaults of the temple still standing in the Forum is a site I will long remember. He encouraged and answered questions with enthusiasm and brought real texture to our understanding of the places so many people have walked before us.
Through Eternity was great to work with even when we got lost getting to meeting point. Their response was prompt and assured us we would still make starting. Tonia was our guide and she was amazing. Brought the past to the present, full of interesting tidbits, very knowledgeable and it was quite evident that she loved the history and what she did. We only wished we could have spent the whole day with her.
Serena was just awesome!!! She was so patient as I had a brace on my leg! She was knowledgeable and fun to chat with!
I would recommend a private tour. We had 4 in our group. Very educational and fascinating tour. Quality of information relative to the history of the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill was excellent. Guido answered our questions as we went along on the tour.
We had a wonderful tour of ancient Rome and our guide Dennis was magnificent! Not only did he know his Roman history, he catered to both the adults and children in our family group. He was so good with our two 5-year old, jet-lagged sons. We highly recommend Dennis and Through Eternity tours.
Brandon was an amazing tour guide, giving us lots of history and details about the different sites. His comprehensive knowledge of the time periods, their influence upon each other and patience with all our questions made this one of, if not the best, tours we’ve had while traveling. Thank you for providing an amazing young man who took all the time we needed to gain many perspectives on the cultural history of Rome. The extra perks were greatly appreciated too.
Private/small group tours are the way to go! Beat the crowds early in the am and were able to navigate through easily. Inge was great.
Brandon is a Princeton Ph.D. student; you get a top-notch tour from him. He is knowledgeable and makes the tour interesting by adding information about the architecture, archeology, and of course history. It was a super hot day in the middle of a heat wave, and Brandon made sure that we covered as many things as possible comfortably. It was very creative to go over a lot of Roman Forum details from the Aerial view of the forum from Palatine Hill, which allowed us to breeze through the forum at the ground level. You won't get this from a cookie-cutter tour, for sure. Thank you, Brandon, for taking our pictures with an excellent camera. They are so much better than the ones on our smart phones.
Ricardo Schappi is a fabulous tour guide! Truly, one of the best guides you will ever meet. A knowledgeable historian with a sincere passion for ancient Rome - I came away from our tour wanting to learn more about Roman history and to return soon to Italy. Our tour with Ricardo was the highlight of our two weeks in Italy!
I loved the experience and the reason for the three stars is because I thought I paid for a more detailed tour, when I bought the tickets it showed pictures of going through the path ways where gladiators went but it was just a regular tour only with a guide explaining the history of the place, the guide was amazing but the description of the tour should be different
I loved the private aspect of the tour. It allowed for a bit more flexibility in taking time to focus on certain areas along the tour. We were also able to navigate around larger groups with much ease. Guia was such a great guide. Very knowledgeable of everything we saw! Truly a great tour.
Our tour guide John Tinto was very knowledgeable and interesting. Flawless English. Cared a lot about the subject and was able to answer any question thrown at him. Great experience!
I don't believe we booked the "Private Tour" part here, but we booked the same tour but the small group tour. I couldn't find that tour on Trip Advisor so I will leave my review here. There were 7 in our party and only 2 others on this tour so it felt very much like a private tour! Our guide was Thomas and he was fantastic. Thomas is a historian and incredibly knowledgeable. He was a great storyteller and kept my two teenage kids interested with his engaging tour. This tour started at the Palatine Hill, trekked down to the Roman Forum, and then over to the Colosseum. Only the Colosseum was busy but Thomas navigated us through the crowds with ease. I highly recommend this tour and when you book, ask for Thomas if he is available.
We really enjoyed our tour with Cinzia Cutrone - she showed us the sights - and also showed us some interesting nearby things that my son enjoyed (like the ruins that have a cat sanctuary). We learned about ancient Rome, and even though it rained, we had a great time. Going with an expert guide really helps one appreciate these historical treasures so much more. I went with my 12-year old son and we both learned so much. The private tours are customizable for your interests as well. If you want to spend more time in one place, less in another, or skip something to add something else nearby - Through Eternity is very accommodating. We did two tours and the guides and office coordinated to customize the second tour around our interests expressed in the first day. First class experience.
I can’t say enough good things about our tour guide, Enrica. She is full of knowledge and energetic, personable, and everything you could wish for in a guide. Our time with her flew by and we learned so much about the history of Rome. There were six adults in our group and we had a great time. We would all highly recommend requesting Enrica, she’s absolutely amazing.
To preface, we were not told whether our tour included the "VIP experience," but it was private and our tour guide, Guia, made us feel very important. From start to end, Guia was courteous, informative, and open to our questions. There was not a question she could not answer. Turns out she is an art historian and also studied archaeology, which made her a wonderful resource. She provided visuals of what Ancient Rome may have looked like and described, in detail, what we could have expected to happen at each location. We wore an earpiece so that we could all hear what Guia was saying even if we weren't next to her. This helped in that we had three young children (4-8 years old) with us who were having some difficulty focusing on the excursion and their parents were still able to hear all the details. In their defense, we were on the 2:45pm tour, it was a hot, sunny day, the tour is 3-4 hours long, and the kids had just come from walking around St. Peter's Square. Guia remained professional and spoke to the kids in a way to pique their interests. We learned so much from our tour and there was absolutely no wait at the Colosseum. I highly recommend Guia and this tour with her. If possible, I'd recommend either an early morning or late afternoon time slot if you want to avoid the summer heat.
Our guide, Enrica, is very well educated and skilled at sharing information according to the interest of the group. Even those who had been to Rome learned a lot, especially since she could compare aspects to modern life. She also led us to a great lunch spot and kept us in the shade as much as possible. Great tour, excellent company.
