My wife and I booked the Small Group Colosseum Tour with Arena Floor – MAX 12 People through GetYourGuide on 18 October 2026, paying approximately €380. Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience, especially considering the price paid and the standard of service we expected. The tour was advertised as lasting approximately 2.5 hours. We were instructed to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled 9:00 am start. Due to the Rome marathon, we had to take a lengthy route to the meeting point, but we made every effort to arrive on time. Enjoy Rome had given us a week’s notice of the marathon and should have been prepared for the disruption. The guide arrived at approximately 9:20 am. According to our photographs and timeline, we left the meeting point at 9:25 am, reached the Colosseum at approximately 10:00 am, and finished at 12:30 pm. Despite the overall time elapsed, the actual guided experience was rushed and fell well short of what we expected from a tour advertised as lasting 2.5 hours. The guide walked far too quickly, making it difficult to keep up, and was frequently too far away for us to hear properly. We paid for a small-group experience, including arena floor access and the convenience of a skip-the-line tour, but instead felt rushed through the experience and struggled to hear the explanations. This significantly affected our enjoyment of what should have been one of the highlights of our trip to Rome. However, what has disappointed me most is how our complaint has been handled. Enjoy Rome offered a 40% goodwill refund, which I considered a reasonable gesture. Had the company simply acknowledged our concerns, apologised for the experience and honoured that gesture, I would have been happy to move on. Instead, the company disputed our account and insisted the tour started on time, subsequently suggesting it was only 10 minutes late. This is particularly frustrating when I have provided photographs and a clear timeline to support my account of what happened. I feel my honesty has been unfairly questioned rather than my concerns being properly addressed. I want to be clear that my complaint is not simply about the money. It is about receiving the experience we paid for and being treated fairly when things go wrong. A goodwill gesture means very little if the customer is made to feel that they are being dishonest when raising a legitimate complaint. My wife and I have used tour services several times during our trip and spent a considerable amount of money. We expected a professional service and a professional response when we raised concerns. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Enjoy Rome based on this experience. The rushed tour was disappointing enough, but the way the complaint was handled has made matters considerably worse. A simple apology, an acknowledgement of the issues and the offered 40% goodwill refund would have gone a long way. Instead, this experience has left us very disappointed.

Such a fabulous tour. Started with Roman Forum, moved to Palatine Hill and then to the Colosseum via the Arena Floor. Enrica was exceptional with lots of history imparted in a detailed but interesting way. A Roman herself, it was nice to have some stories about her childhood growing up around these sites. Lots of chaos around the Colosseum but she managed to guide us through easily. Definitely recommend the added expense for the private tour.

Laura our guide knew everything and more about Roman life and the history of the Colosseum. The tour was fun and engaging for the whole family including teens and elementary school children. The tour company is Enjoy Rome and the office is the perfect place to meet before the tour. I am so happy we had a great guide. I can't imagine the experience without Laura.

Marco was our tour guide and was excellent. Was an extremely hot day and he made sure we kept in plenty of shade and stayed hydrated at the various fountains, while also being very informative and answering any questions.

Took the English tour - Marco was an amazing guide! He was so knowledgeable and caring for us because it was a 35 C degree day and a few people were struggling. Amazing views and so convenient to skip the queue.

Ilaria was an excellent guide - she was incredibly passionate about the locations and took the time to explain the background of everything we saw. Despite the heatwave, we had a great time. Bring a water bottle or spend the €2 on a bottle from a street vendor and refill at the fountains on the Via Sacra!

We were really looking forward to the tour. The places we saw were great but the English of our guide, her disjointed stories and the pace of the tour were sub par. Do not recommend this guide.

We booked this private tour months in advance and have been to the Colloseum before but never the floor. We got no communication about the last minute cancellation and when we showed we were told we were put into a tour group instead that didn’t go to the floor. The guide on the group had no knowledge of the colloseum or the history of Rome and instead talked about herself and other places. She didn’t even take us to the site of the Colossus or even mention it the entire tour. We did a lot of standing in the sun while she babbled on. It was really terrible and she wasn’t qualified to be a guide at all. I tried not to let it ruin my day but after being dragged through this nonsense we were pretty tired. Now I see they are trying to give the same private tour for a lot more. What an awful operation. Make sure you contact your credit card company for a full refund as they are not willing to provide the contracted service and perform a subpar switch at the last minute and they think they will decide how much partial refund to give. Really funny! I hope this review saves someone the horrible experience we had. Avoid!

Our recent encounter with this company during our trip to rome left us utterly disappointed, frustrated, and empty-handed. My husband and i, eager to explore the rich history of rome, had meticulously planned our itinerary around a highly anticipated tour of the colosseum arena, roman forum, and palatine hill. However, what was meant to be a memorable experience turned into an absolute nightmare thanks to enjoy rome's sheer incompetence and complete disregard for their customers. The day before our scheduled tour, we received a terse and impersonal message from the company stating that they had overbooked and were unable to accommodate us. Can you imagine the shock and disappointment we felt after traveling all the way from australia, only to be informed at the eleventh hour that our plans were shattered? The lack of proper communication and the nonchalant manner in which enjoy rome handled this situation was nothing short of disrespectful. To add insult to injury, the best alternative they could offer was a rescheduled tour a whole week later. By that point, we had already moved on from rome, making their proposed solution utterly useless to us. Despite numerous attempts to contact them through emails and messages on whatsapp, enjoy rome has shown a complete disregard for our concerns, refusing to acknowledge our pleas for a refund or any form of compensation. This level of customer service is simply unacceptable. A reputable tour company should prioritize the satisfaction of its customers and take responsibility for their mistakes. Unfortunately, enjoy rome seems to lack both the professionalism and integrity required to provide a positive experience. Based on our harrowing encounter with enjoy rome tour company, i cannot emphasize strongly enough to avoid this company like the plague. This was our son’s first time in Rome so we booked this experience for him. It was a great introduction to the history of Rome. Our tour guide, Matias, did not disappoint. He was full of energy and took the time to engage our 14 year old. My other critique is that sometimes he was a little scattered in his organization. That was the only reason for the 4 stars.

I don't think I will book a tour with viator ever again. With less than 18 hours notice, I got a WhatsApp saying our tour had been overbooked and was canceled. Only option given was a week later. not so good for a three-day stop in Rome. After shopping 30 more tours at 11:00 p.m. I was able to book a tour on get your guide which came through for us. That is where I will start next time, not with Viator.

Sylvia's archaeology background was what probably made the tour so interesting. Brilliant visit and well worth the money.

During the tour Francesco provided an excellent description and historical context for the Forum and the Colosseum. He was extremely knowledgeable and entertained/answered all of our questions. There is so much to see and explain, yet Francesco was able to guide us through the sites in a way that we could appreciate key elements of the more than 2000 years of history!

Amazing!! Roman history is not something I thought I’d find myself interested in but our guide Laura Antonucci was so brilliant with their knowledge of each part of the areas vistited, it felt like going back in time!! The stories and facts were told clearly and detailed- I wonder if Laura had learnt how to do a good speech in school like the Romans too….. 10/10 would recommend this tour and guide to anybody interested in coming to Rome, excellent value for money and a very welcoming guide. Great tour of ancien Rome by Enjoy Rome starting by forum, then palatine hill and.finally the coliseum. Our guide, Rosalia, had a deep knowledge, historical and not only about monuments. She also has a book to show how was booking the monuments and locations at the time.of antique rome. Best guide for me.so car !

Did the colosseum tour as well a the Roman forum and palatine hill, our tour guide was Marcius, the best tour guide you could of asked for, so enthusiastic and loved his job, he taught me so much and knew his history and facts very well, I highly recommend Marcius and would love him to be my tour guide on every single tour I do!

Our guide was Barbara who made the tour fun and interesting with little nuggets of info you wouldn't get otherwise. The tour was 3 hours but seemed more like an hour as it was well paced and interesting. It amazing to stand on the arena floor and imagine what it was like in the day. There are quite a few steps so be prepared for aching legs. The Palatine Hill and Forum were a great surprise and almost as spectacular as the Colosseum itself. Could have easily spent more time in the Forum at the end of the tour but we were all very hungry and hot!!! Yes it was only February but the sun was shining and bright blue skies were above. I thoroughly recommend a Skip the Line tour as the other queue even at this time of year was very long.

Our tour guide Marcius was amazing! Passionate and enthusiastic character and has a great knowledge about the Roman Colosseum and the roman forums. By far the best tour I have done throughout all my travels. Highly recommend as this is definitely the tour which gives you more insight to the history and culture of Rome.

Marcius probably gave me the best tour I’ve ever had. He is so enthusiastic, knowledgeable and funny at times that it is hard not to listen to him and dream about the Roman Period. It was like being back in time, with more than just Wikipedia information but with his own insights and thoughts. He had 2 booklets with him, where he showed it pictures of back then and now.
