Outstanding tour guide. Trajan’s market and column The market is considered the oldest shopping mall in history. The upper level of Trajan’s Market was used for offices for the officials in charge of the entire market. The market itself allowed merchants from around the nation to sell their products. These shops were called “tabernae” and there were more than 150 in the entire complex. In the lower part of the market was the so-called Great Hall, 32 meters long and 8 meters high. The hall was possibly used for concerts, speeches or education. According to the book entitled: Description of Trajan’s Column, I have the following to add to this review. The author says Trajan was wise in council, farsighted in policy, sagacious in dealing with men, unsuspicious, generous, a strategist, brave, humane, patient, and tolerant of hunger and thirst. “The Column” was intended as the tomb of the emperor, where his ashes would be laid. The intricately detailed artwork on the column commemorates his main military accomplishment of victory over Decebalus and the inclusion of the Dacian lands in the Roman Empire. It remains debatable whether the column artwork with its intricate details could totally be seen. There were Roman and Greek libraries nearby, where standing on the top floors, one could possibly see some of the scenes of detailed artwork.

Itinerary
When we talk about the ancient city of Rome we think that the archeological site is composed only by the Colosseum, Palatine hill and Roman forum. In reality, there is more! The Imperial Forums were part of the complex of buildings of the ancient city, the central area of Rome. In the XX century the area was completely reorganized divinding the famous Roman Forum from the Imperial Forum. Well, we will discover this unknown part during this tour. The Museum shows us all the findings of the area of the Imperial Forum, giving us the opportunity to discuss and learn about this other area, its function and how it developed during the centuries.

This is the second time that we take a tour with Vincenzo while being in Rome, and again it was magnificent. This time we visited the museum of the Fori Imperiali and the Trajan's Market. Absolutely GREAT tour! Even though we were warned that this tour is “advanced level” with history folded over itself like a Roman lasagna, Vincenzo explained everything so clearly that we were actually delighted to realize we were following along—layer after layer! It is such a gift to get to know Rome with a professional like him. We aim to take a tour with him every time we come to Rome (if we are lucky and he is available) until we see it all! Thank you Vincenzo for guiding us so brilliantly! Fino alla prossima volta!
Excellent tour! We enjoyed every minute of it. Even the 4 kids in our party had fun! Vincenzo was professional, funny and had a tons of knowledge/ information that he communicated in a very entertaining way. My 14 years old son said:" I wish my next history teacher would be like him!" Thank you for everything!
FANTASTIC. VINCENZO WAS THE BEST GUIDE WE HAVE EVER HAD. KNOWLEDGEABLE, PLEASANT. A WONDERFUL STORY TELLER!!! Everything was perfect. The length was excellent. My granddaughter especially was very motivated. I wish all tours were his good.
Vincenzo really made this tour come alive! We had the best time with him and it’s an experience. We will never forget. I highly recommend this tour, especially for those who have been to Rome a few times and have seen most of the more famous sites.
Vincenzo was the best guide we have ever had. Super knowledgeable and engaging. His energy is definitely part of his charm. The Trajans Markets are an incredible place to visit and he brought it to life for us. Leah and Todd.
The guide was incredible. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent information. AND it's a remarkable museum.
Vincenzo delivered an amazing private tour of the Palatine Hill and Fori Imperiali. His knowledge is truly second to none; he kept us engaged for 3 hours, shared interesting facts about all the buildings on the hill and in the Forum and giving us a flawless chronology of Roman history. He tailored the tour to his audience and ended it with a beautiful homage to the history of Julius Ceasar who, even if not strictly relevant to the tour itself, is key to the history of Rome and was a personal interest of ours. We had a truly amazing time and will treasure this tour for a very long time. Thank you Vincenzo!!
Cannot praise Martina enough! She is so passionate and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend this. Not busy at all despite being so historically significant
Vincenzo was a passionate and knowledgeable guide for our family of four. It is no easy job engaging a 14 and 16 year old in the history of Ancient Rome for a FULL day, including the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Pantheon. Vincenzo provided so many amazing and memorable stories in such rich and vidid detail that set the context for the balance of our time in Rome - and kept us talking about the tour throughout our time there. Thank you for the gift of a memorable day in Rome!
Fantastic tour led by Martina! Morning, was Trajan Markets and Museum and in the afternoon we went to Rione Monti. Martina was absolutely tireless in providing in depth information about the art, history and social context while at the same time sprinkling in fun facts about the artists and the roman emperors! Additionally, Martina was extremely kind and patient in helping my father navigate the Italian online bureaucracy recover his Green Pass that he had forgotten at home.
A truly wonderful tour! The guide was simply excellent: knowledgeable, professional, engaging and always available. He knew how to convey his passion to us through interesting stories, curiosities and explanations that were never boring, making the experience pleasant and unforgettable. You can tell when a person truly loves what they do and manages to convey it to others. An experience that I absolutely recommend to everyone! Thank you from the heart for the wonderful day and for the passion you put into your work. Compliments! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
on May 1st with another couple of friends we had the pleasure of visiting the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum with our Super guide Vincenzo. He 'was very good, when he explained we were fascinated because he told it in a simple but detailed way and transmitted all his passion. Besides his great preparation is very nice. I would definitely recommend it. Thank you Vincenzo
We were lucky enough to visit the Colosseum and the Imperial Forums with Vincenzo, a truly exceptional guide. He did not just tell the story, but he was able to involve us with particular anecdotes and little-known curiosities, with an innovative and exciting style that is rarely found in other guides. His ability to capture attention and make the visit unique is extraordinary: each story seemed to come to life before our eyes. I absolutely recommend everyone to book a visit with him: he is a real phenomenon!!!
We stayed three days in Rome. Guide fantastic.Vincenzo very good. The children were amazed by his tales. Three hours together flew by. An enviable historical preparation
Every time I go to Rome I choose Rome Guides to carry out visits and tours and I must say that I am always impressed and happy. The tours with Martina and Vincenzo were enjoyed to the full, with their enthusiasm and excellent preparation they tell unique details, make you participate and make you discover Rome. I really recommend it to everyone!!!!
Very interesting and fun visit! The guide, Vincenzo, very nice, punctual and competent. I absolutely recommend
I have been to Rome 10 times but never had such a beautiful visit to the Colosseum and the imperial forums!!! Thanks Vincenzo!!!!!!
Vincenzo turned the visit into an exciting experience with knowledge and passion. Super!!!!
We gave a wonderful tour to our foreign colleagues and what about .. exceptional! Vincenzo and Martina were perfect, from start to finish, giving us a vision of Rome that went far beyond our basic knowledge. I absolutely recommend everyone to try an experience with Roma Guides!
Vincenzo and Martina are fantastic! We organized a Tour to offer to our foreign guests / colleagues and it was a success; starting from their ability to meet all our needs with Vincenzo to the actual visit with Martina who gave us her knowledge and her anecdotes on the way to the Forums. Absolutely recommend both to those who have never seen Rome and to those who would like to know more!!
Vincenzo knows how to immerse you in history with interpretation bordering on filmography. It captivates you with its stories and involves you making you feel part of the story itself. I had the honor of doing 3 days in his company... Surely when I return to Rome I will definitely do this experience again with other tours.
We did with Vincenzo a private tour of the Colosseum and the holes with two children aged 10 and 6 years ... what can I say! Vincenzo managed to capture our attention and the children as only an experienced and passionate guide can do. The three hours of the tour flew by and it was a fantastic experience! A great way to immerse yourself in the wonders of Rome. To be recommended absolutely!! Lorenza
I had a great time with Martina as a guide, exemplary professional, explains very well is you never get bored. THE BEST, congratulations!!!
Spectacular Tour of Rome with Martina! Brilliant tour guide who told us about Imperial Rome and the Vatican museum in an absolutely exciting way, under a historical, economic, political and religious interpretation that we had not had before!!! Really extraordinary experience. Fully recommended!!!
Vincenzo and Martina are out of competition. The great passion they have for art and history leads them to deepen their studies more and more, which then pour us into our meetings. In particular. Martina, in our last tour focused on the figure of Caesar, delighted us with 2 hours of history and art, providing us with an insight into Roman life, politics, everyday life, relationships with defeated peoples. He showed us the remains and ruins of the hole, telling us what had happened right there. So we closed our eyes for a moment and we thought we heard the voices of the crowd, the Latin forbito of the senators, Caesar's low-pitched gasp at the moment of the passage, the "Tu quoque Brute, fili mi" but perhaps "fili mi" was added later. The modernity of Caesar's figure is crazy, as is his shrewdness in pushing the crowd to worship him, the soldiers to see him fight like a lion with them on the front lines, the women (and men) to love him, the pirates to have to bitterly regret having kidnapped the wrong person. On all his enormous ambition, but supported by formidable strategic skills, almost empathetic interpersonal skills, and full immersion in political and non-political issues of the city. Thank you Martina!
I was really satisfied with the visit as a whole: punctuality, friendliness and precision.
The guided tour of the Imperial Forum Museum with Martina is the top! Wonderful and unforgettable day, immersed in the charm of ancient Rome and delighted by the simple and, at the same time, rich in details of the beautiful Martina. Very willing to deepen every request, Martina has managed to revive the ancient Roman civilization in full. We couldn't ask for anything better. We will definitely be back very soon! Thank you 😘😘😘
Roman weekend in 11 (including 3 teenagers), we spent an afternoon with Martina between the Roman forums and the Colosseum and it was immediately evident that it would be difficult to be without her the next day. She is not a classical guide, she is in love with her craft, art, Rome and this passion has made us passionate listeners. Which is why we asked you to meet us again the next day for a mini tour to the center of Rome. Anecdotes, curiosities and history made our weekend pleasant and as we wanted it.... full of culture. Words are not enough to describe the experience, to try absolutely. Highly recommended
I am happy to have been able to visit the Museum of the Imperial Forums in the markets of Trajan, together with my family, being able to make use of a trained, professional and experienced guide, such as Martina Sorrenti. It 'was a beautiful afternoon thanks Martina.
Thank you Helena for this very complete visit of the colysee, you knew how to give us bcp of information on the mount palatine and the colysee.
Praise to Martina for delighting us with her skills. Unforgettable day. I highly recommend Filiberto
Place of absolute charm, masterfully told by Martina. Uncommon driving for competence and sympathy. Always ready to give answers to every question, demonstrating a great mastery of the subject. Recommended!!!!
We were about ten for a private tour in imperial Rome, Vincenzo as a guide with his charisma and his genuine professionalism teleported us with body and mind in the past making us 100% participants ... 2 hours and a half of driving for nothing accused, it was always pleasant to listen to Vincenzo from beginning to end, thanks to his passion and love with which he dedicates himself to his job.
Engaging experience: preparation, irony and enthusiasm combine perfectly. The tour was very rich in artistic and historical details: despite the complexity related to the long journey and the large amount of information that was disclosed, the attention of the participants and enthusiasm were always kept to the maximum.
Very good and experienced guide, can involve you and make you passionate thanks to excellent explanations
Two fantastic days spent in the company of an excellent guide. Vincenzo Spina was able to involve, but above all he was able to fascinate and teach with an elegance and passion that we will not forget.
Martina is always a guarantee. We spent two and a half hours, gone without realizing it, immersed in the poignant beauty of Trajan's Markets, Trajan's Forum and Caesar's Forum, often stimulated by anecdotes, riddles, games, inserted in the rigorous and exhaustive explanations of the history of this pearl of ancient Rome.
Rome without the siege of tourists was an opportunity to see the Colosseum with Vincio as a guide. Very prepared and compelling even for the little ones, it gave great depth and interest to a visit that is basically very flat. Beautiful experience recommended
