Our guide Vincenzo provided extensive background information about the Palazzo Pamphilj, its history and the masterpieces in the collection. Truly amazing to view the Caravaggios, Velasquez, Titian paintings up close and personal with Vincenzo providing the commentary and historical context,

Itinerary
The Doria-Pamphilj gallery is situated in the Palace with the same name, built between the middle of the fifteenth and the beginning of the eighteenth century. The disposition of the paintings in the Gallery is distributed over four wings and follows the indications provided in an eighteenth century document, where the exact location of each work is specified according to a criterion of symmetry and sometimes of typological and stylistic affinity. It includes paintings by: - Raphael (Portrait of Andrea Navagero) - Titian (Salome with the head of St. John the Baptist) - Domenichino (Susan and the old men) - Caravaggio (Rest during the flight to Egypt, St. John the Baptist, and Magdalene) - Annibale e Ludovico Carracci (Satyr and shepherd, Madonna with the Infant, St. Sebastian) - Mattia Preti (Magdalene repentant, St. John the Baptist, Christ conducted on the Scala Santa) - Guercino (Erminia finds Tancred wounded, Allegory of springtime, Return of the prodigal son, St. Joseph) - Guido Reni (Madonna adoring the Infant, St. Peter repentant, Sacred and profane love) - Velazquez (portrait of Innocent the Tenth)

Vincenzo was a fantastic guide. We had him twice in the Doria Pamphilj and the palazzo barbarini. He was very knowledgeable and could answer all our questions. He was a fun and interesting guide and would highly recommend him.
We had a wonderful tour of the Doria Pamphilj Gallery with Vincenzo. He clearly has a deep knowledge, but what really made the experience special was his genuine enthusiasm and care. You can feel how much he loves the place, the history, and the art, and how important it is to him that the group truly enjoys the tour. The explanations were rich and varied – from historical context, to art history, to small anecdotes that brought everything to life. I would absolutely recommend this tour.
Vincent was fab. I hope you know via a completely screwed up. Vincent didn’t get any order from you to meet us. We were lucky enough to be able to reach him on the phone and he rushed over. He was great! What what will you do about the problem of your inefficiency? I expect some kind of refund. Please contact me in person if you wish to discuss this further.
Vincenzo was an amazing tour guide! He was very passionate about the art and was incredibly engaging! We learned so much on the tour with him, our only regret was not being able to book him for our Vatican tour as well! A true pro who is art savvy and knowledgeable, would recommend!!
Vincenzo was the very best guide we had on all our tours with Viator this trip to Rome. He told such interesting stories about the most famous painting and sculptures in the Doria Pamphilij. He was warm and so animated with his explanations. The tour was well worth it because there are so many special works of art and such beautiful architecture in the centre of Rome. Bravo Vincenzo!
We had an absolutely amazing visit of Galleria Doria Pamphili, full of stories and anecdotes that hands the tour truly memorable. Rome is full of art and beauty, and it can be so overwhelming that it is often hard to retain it all. But with Vincenzo’s incredibile knowledge, his anecdotes and fun way of recounting the history of art, this visit will remain deeply impressed in our hearts and minds. Highly recommended
A tour like no other. Vincenzo is a storyteller that transports you right into the heart of the history of the moment. His deep understanding of Rome's history, art, and architecture is truly impressive. Over the two days our group spent with him, he effortlessly brought ancient ruins to life, weaving captivating stories and historical anecdotes that transported us back in time. It was like stepping into a time machine, with each site and landmark revealing its unique secrets under his expert guidance. When we visited St Paul’s outside the Walls, the next day. What struck us most was Vincenzo’s ability to taylor the experience to the groups interest. It has not been the 1st time we have sought the expertise of Vincenzo, and for my husband’s 50th birthday, he made the experience extraordinary! Overall, I cannot recommend this tour guide and his experience and enthusiasm enough . He went above and beyond, each time and this to ensure our experience in Rome was enjoyable and unforgettable!
Amazing private collection of art in a Roman villa! Our tour guide, Marcelina, was very knowledgeable and gave an enthusiastic and complete tour of the art, art history and even the building. There were just 2 of us on this private tour. Doria Pamphilj is for art lovers and art museum connoisseurs- off the beaten path where no crowds seem to find it.
Martina is a pleasure to listen to. She is knowledgeable, graceful, very skilled as a story telling and she is able to have your full attention for the duration of the tour. She makes you feel you want to do more tours with RomeGuides and you truly look forward for the next tour. I would give her 10 stars if it was possible! Hands down one of the best tour guide in Rome!
Our guide was outstanding. Knowledgable, personable, humerous. She brought the gallery alive for us and we stepped back into past centuries
Vincenzo was a wonderful guide and we learned so much in our two hours together. We would highly recommend hiring him to get the most out of your visit to the wonderful Doria Pamphilj.
Probably the best of the ten or so tours we did during our five day’s in Rome! Fascinating insights into the place it’s history and the art and its setting. A guide is a must in this huge collection presented as it would have been displayed 2-300 Years ago. Vincenzo was a perfect guide. Well worth the money- absolutely recommend!
Velasquez's portrait of Innocent X alone is worth a visit. Wonderful place full of fabulous works. The art collection of the Pamphilj family is set up as it was customary in the 700s, this while penalizing a little the vision of the works placed on the walls above, makes the visit fascinating because it makes you take a step back in time by reliving the authentic atmosphere of a noble house unlike traditional museums that are sometimes a little aseptic.
I had already participated in a truly fantastic walking tour of the Colosseum and the Imperial Forums in 2021, and finding myself in Rome again, I did not hesitate to contact Vincenzo again to carry out another visit with him. I totally trusted his expert opinion and let myself be convinced to visit the palace and the Doria Pamphili gallery. I must say that this time too Vincenzo did not disappoint us. He showed us a little gem of Rome that few know about and which remains "apart" compared to much more well-known monuments or museums. Truly a gem to visit. Vincenzo, super engaging, held our attention from start to finish. I highly recommend it to everyone!
Vincenzo was very thorough and proved to be fully prepared. Furthermore, his kindness meant that the two hours we spent together flew by
Thanks to Vincenzo we appreciated every beam of light on Caravaggio's works catapulted into a fantastic seventeenth-century Rome. We recommend it to art lovers who wish to be enveloped by the magic of the splendid works in front of them. Thanks Vincenzo.
I had never been to the gallery despite being from Rome and I was pleased to discover this particular jewel in the heart of Rome: to be discovered with its surprises and valuable works especially if properly guided. Martina expertly accompanied us on these artistic tours with important historical anecdotes, friendliness and competence
The visit to the Doria Pamphili gallery with our guide Vincenzo was magnificent. It involves you, entertains you by telling the "GEMS" of history and art. I recommend it for anyone who wants the best! Because Vincenzo is the best guide!!
Wonderful morning on a private tour of the Dora Pamphilj gallery with our guide Vincenzo, who as always proved to be perfect in every explanation, exhaustive with every question, engaging Vincenzo is a monster of culture and history and spending two hours with him is too little for those who are thirsty for knowledge and understanding. Highly recommended for any guided tour. Seeing is believing
As in all tours with Rome Guides you are taken by the hand and accompanied with liveliness and knowledge on a journey into the history and lives of the artists and protagonists of that time. Beautiful experience in a private gallery full of wonders.
This morning I had the pleasure of visiting the Doria Pamphili gallery with Vincenzo, who revealed to us the wonders of the halls of the magnificent palace: works of art by artists of the caliber of Bernini and Caravaggio, accompanied by many anecdotes that made the visit engaging and unique ! Thank you
Very interesting visit in a beautiful place, taken by the hand by Vincenzo, today our master guide, who accompanied us through the history, anecdotes, works of art that make up this beautiful collection. With Vincenzo, the art and fabulous places of Rome become an unforgettable experience!!!!! Highly recommended visits by #romeguides
What an experience! How wonderful! Our adventure began on Saturday afternoon with a visit to Klimt together with Vincenzo. I had chills during his explanations and I felt involved, sucked into an all-round experience with this wonderful and so much psychologically dark artist! I came out absolutely and completely enthusiastic, in love with his works and the historical period! A guided tour of more than two hours but that you wanted to continue forever! On Sunday we continued with Martina, in the Pamphilj gallery. Also here, in addition to the uniqueness of the place, the visit completely thrilled me! Martina is a living encyclopedia, an interactive art book that can explain each individual subject with the enthusiasm of discovery! Here too my love for history but especially for art history has increased! A complete recharge of the senses! Definitely will participate in their other tours! I will definitely try to recommend anyone to participate in this experience! Surely I will carry these two days in my heart and memory! Other than recommended! It is a moral obligation and an obligation for themselves to participate in their tours! Give yourself a big and welcome gift!
When we met, Vincenzo began by warning us that we would see something unique and so it was. We live in Rome and we have seen museums but this is something completely unexpected. You walk through a door of the chaotic Via del Corso, crowded with tourists and shops, and you find yourself in the silence of majestic rooms that literally overflow with paintings and works that we are used to seeing only in books. The atmosphere is still 4 centuries ago, the lights, floors, mirrors and damask walls. Then everything comes to life when Vincenzo begins to tell about characters, events, intrigues and curiosities related to each work. Rarely have I enjoyed a gallery tour so much. The place is really unique, but it was above all Vincenzo who made the difference. He was able to tell us a long and beautiful story that accompanied us throughout the visit and, as soon as it was over, we were already thinking about the next one!
Vincenzo Spina...a guarantee! Dispenser of culture and joy! Engaging guided tour, rich in history and curious anecdotes. A wonderful opportunity to discover Rome and its history in a fun, and definitely professional way! Highly recommended!
Yesterday's visit to the gallery was exceptional. The low turnout of visitors made us feel almost privileged. The environments, rooms and works on display are truly valuable and everything was more enjoyable thanks to Vincenzo who guided us with explanations, stories and anecdotes. Not to be missed. Thank you Vincenzo
I could not have asked for a better restart after three months of hunger for culture. The Doria Pamphilj Gallery is a treasure chest, and its somewhat foggy splendor makes it the ideal setting to savor the masterpieces of Bernini, Caravaggio, Titian, Raphael, Bruegel, Guido Reni, Guercino ... it deserves to be visited by even the most hasty tourists, and I hope that it will soon return to fill up in the way that I have always found annoying and that now I hope to see return. In the meantime, however, it was a wonderful gift to be able to enjoy it almost in solitude, accompanied by Vincenzo who masterfully managed to condense in an incredibly tasty 70-minute visit the tour of the Gallery that usually takes him a couple of hours, and managed as always and more than ever to satisfy my desire for art and culture with his never trivial, never poor, never school narration. Impossible to detach the ears and heart from his voice, while the eyes fill with beauty. With the hope that he and Martina will have less and less time for us, but with the intention of squeezing them to the max while they have: thank you guys, it is a privilege to learn from you.
Vincenzo guides you through the halls of the Gallery with competence and passion. It makes you love art and makes you want to deepen more and more, among other things it tells you about the unpublished details of the artists and their works that make the visit lively and unique. We know the Rome Guides association, but from now on they will be our "art companions" for all our next visits! Nicoletta with Paolo
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the Rome Guides Association who, at such a difficult time in our lives, found a way to make us live such a strongly emotional day with this "almost private" visit to the Doria Pamphilj gallery. VINCENZO communicated to us all his vivacity and his knowledge in visiting this splendid palace of our wonderful city. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
Excellent resumption of tourist activities in Rome, with this tour led by the tireless Vincenzo, always at the TOP! Thanks, see you next time! Paola
