Private Colosseum Tour

Franchesca was amazing! On time.

We loved our private tour of the coliseum with Francesca! She met us early, very communicative and extremely knowledgeable! She was a gem and made the tour so enjoyable! Highly recommend her and experience through Viator!

Originally the trip was booked for 10 am, the agency messaged and requested an 11:30 (I believe - my times may be messed up), but in any event, a later time was requested. No big deal. The pick up location our phones GPS brought us to was at a park, however the actual pick up location was a block down the road which started the tour off poorly but we were hoping to bounce back. Unfortunately, our tour guide very clearly did not want to be there. He was ducking and bobbing through the crowd, we almost lost him twice and I ended up trampling some poor people just to keep up. Our guide had no idea because his head was forward focused on getting to where he was going he didn’t look back. The entire time we were walking, he was talking…which I am sure had some interesting details, however, with him walking so fast and being behind him, there was no way to make out what he was saying. At the Colosseum he spent 30 minutes with us, chugging through his script before finally leaving. The guide was rude. The tour was short. It was not worth 25% of what we paid. It was so bad, in fact, that I am reimbursing my boyfriend for my ticket because he shouldn’t be out money for this. Really, REALLY disappointed. Don’t waste your money.

Roberto was a great guide. He accommodated the fact that we were early and also took notice of any requests.

Our Colosseum tour with Roberto was outstanding! He had a fantastic sense of humor and an incredible depth of knowledge that made the history come alive. He did an amazing job tailoring the tour to everyone in our group, including our sons (ages 16 and 18). They were completely engaged from start to finish. I honestly can't remember ever seeing them so interested during a historical tour. Roberto made the experience both educational and entertaining. I highly recommend this agency, and especially Roberto, to anyone visiting the Colosseum. You won't be disappointed!

Some things everyone should understand. There are always lines. There are always a lot of people. When you book with a travel site you don't know who the actually tour guide company is. 7 Hills shares an office with another tour guide. The other tour guide was not helpful, and they were rude to us. We were not allowed to wait in their waiting room or use the restroom while waiting on our personal guide from 7 Hills. Our start time was changed at the last minute and this caused confusion. Our start was quite sketchy. The guide was a bit of a goof ball but was knowledgeable.

Our family really enjoyed the tour with Roberto! He was excellent at engaging the kids and making the educational tour fun and interesting! We learned a lot!

We were so glad to have booked a private tour. Scott quickly guided us past the vast crowds and inside. Really knew his history and it was just the right amount of time. At the end we asked for a lunch restaurant recommendation and he walked with us to a favorite nearby restaurant where we had a lovely meal.

Our tour guide met us promptly and proceeded to begin the tour of the coliseum. He was extremely knowledgeable about the areas’ history, people and was very open to questions and made the walk entertaining as well as interactive. We would gladly take this tour again.

We were only in Rome for a day, which, of course is not enough. My only advice is to focus on one main tour at one main site. The Colosseum is fantastic. Purchasing online was easy. When doing a tour you will meet close to the Colosseum, (at a point they designate) organize with the guide, obtain your entry ticket, and start. It is not quick to get into any site due to the fact that you will have to go through security and bags must be checked. So relax and enjoy the day. I must thank Theresa who went to some extra trouble for us due to our rushing around. The entire area around (outside) the Colosseum is fantastic and worth taking time to walk around. Enjoy!

We took a short, 1-hr tour with Roberto to see the Colloseum. It was just the right amount of info and he was entertaining. It was great skipping lines, and he provided us with tickets for the forum after the tour.

We really enjoyed this tour. Roberto was very knowledgeable about the Colosseum and had a great sense of humor. He answered all of our (many) questions and showed us so many cool aspects of the Colosseum we never would have noticed on our own. We learned so much and so enjoyed Roberto’s company that for the rest of our time in Rome, we joked that we wished Roberto was there to tell us about everything! Highly recommend seeing the Colosseum with Roberto.

Roberto did an excellent job showing our group around the colosseum and giving us a accurate history. He also managed to add some humor into the tour and kept us entertained the whole time. I would recommend the tour and the tour guide.

Our private guide Roberto was sensational. We hardly had to queue at all and he was a mine of information. Extremely interesting and not just a list of boring facts. Roberto obviously loves his job and his subject and he has a unique way of communicating which we really enjoyed.

We did a private tour for 6 people with Cristina through the Colosseum, Roman and Palatine forum and it was a fantastic experience. A super prepared guide and also attentive to us at all times. A woman's charm! He was very attentive to help us in any way he could both in sight and before and after it, resolving any questions that arose. When we return to Rome, we hope to be able to meet her and continue to discover her corners together.

Another beautiful day among the wonders of Rome with Cristina, super guide very prepared and very nice. Despite the rain the spirits held high and we were not discouraged. We had met Cristina on a visit to the Vatican Museums and we could only choose her as a guide among these wonders. We'll arrange another tour, always with her. To be redone.
