Travelled to Rome for our 20th wedding anniversary and booked this private tour for our anniversary date , arrived at the meeting point at 10:10 am as the tour was booked for 11:00 , as I’m writing this it’s now currently 11:10 and no show for the tour guide , we have tried contacting and messaging and no reply , so very disappointed.

Too much walking before making it to The the big finish. For those that cannot walk it must be modified. Too much money not to see what was paid for. Also heard nothing about Circus Maximus or Palatine Hill. Lots of opinion but the facts got lost.
Nicola was an extremely knowledgeable guide who spoke passionately and informatively about all aspects of the Colosseum and Forum's history. He handled all questions well reinforcing his detailed knowledge. The Colosseum is a phenomenal piece of antiquity, a tragedy that so much of the original inside is no longer visible but the building is a testament to the ingenuity of Roman architects in 70AD. The view from the Colosseum down the valley to the Forum was magical, passing the Temple of Vesta and the site of Julius' funeral pyre as we approached the main site of the Senate. A wonderful tour.
Our guide, Vincenzo , really knows the history of Ancient Rome , the Palentine Hill and the Colosseum. As English speakers we found him easy to understand . He answered all our questions in a thoughtful way, so we could tell he knows the subject matter. His presentation was interesting and filled with facts. He is creative and draws verbal pictures of the people and events so we could “see” what it was like in Ancient Rome. Since my husband and I have Pompeii as our next stop we especially liked his knowledge of Pompeii because he is a guide there also. Be prepared to stand and walk for a full 2 hours, including uphill to the top of Palentine Hill and climbing the stairs in the Colosseum . We are near 70 years old and we didn’t have any trouble, but we are really active and fit.
Had a wonderful semi-private tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Roman Forums with Walks and our guide Olga - and she was absolutely wonderful! She was an encyclopedia of information and extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend!
As most Tourists I was in awe of The history. I was disappointed in the guide. This was quite an expense tour which was advertised as 3 hours. The guides appearing mostly occasionally bored and looking for shade. Contrary to the guide we had for the Vatican/Sistene Chapel the previous day, the guide for the Forum/Colleseum, This guide seemed to be more interested in finding shade, offered few Suggestions for photo opportunities and offered more in depth information only when prompted by my friend who had been o the Forum previously. What I learned was that the quality of the process is entirely dependent on the “assigned” guide.
We had an excellent private tour with Renata. There is a huge amount to see in the forum and colosseum, and yet she managed to keep everything relaxed, well paced, and interesting. We highly recommend this tour.
The experience never happened. We showed up at the designated meeting spot on time at 2pm on October 17. Our guide was nowhere to be found. We paced up and down the street and asked at least four other tour guides where we might be missing our guide, but to no avail. After searching for our guide for 45 minutes we decided to leave and find a place to eat lunch while we tried to figure out how to salvage our first afternoon in Rome. A complete disaster! Now I need to figure out how to get a refund since the operators made it clear no refunds are allowed. I wonder if that includes when the guide does not show?!?
A wonderful tour. Obviously it was great skipping the very long queue. More than that, however, it was an engaging and entertaining tour of this memorable site. Our tour guide Jaber was thoroughly knowledgeable, with a wonderful sense of humour. He put everyone at ease immediately and helped make this a superb experience. Thanks, Jaber!
Well we had some dumb people in group. Wandered off did not listen. 10 mins long time latter they turn up. Guide was frustrated and said 10 miss to look at floor of Colosseum...blazing sun...but yet people just wandered off. Had to wait for them. Grrrrrr. Poor guide. Honestly people in group Shut Up and listen and follow guide. Left before tour finished. Grrrrrrr what debacle
The tour was cancelled by the tour provider Anno Domini tours the morning of the tour. No explanation was given. We tried to contact them and got no response. Will not use again.
Worth every penny! The tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. Had tickets on phone ready to show at each entrance so we had no queuing. Showed us round colosseum, Palentine Hill and an overview of the forum. Such detailed knowledge and really engaging and funny. Can’t recommend this enough. I hope this company book her more in future, absolute asset to the company.
Our guide, Maria, was fantastic !!!!! She made The tour fun and connected with my two daughters. A wonderful memory.
Anna was an Amazing Guide! If you have her as your Guide you won’t be disappointed! She’s extremely knowledgeable and has a great personality!!! She made the experience truly worthwhile!
Loved loved loved everything about this. Our guide was super knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Loved spending time on Palatine Hill and Roman Forum as it gave us a better overview of the history.
Super friendly, very knowledgeable and made the history come alive. Paid great attention to the kids and made sure they picked up on the details. Found shadow and water during the hot day. Great guide.
This experience is fantastic. We were looking for a way to wrap up our visit to Rome and decided to splurge and book a private excursion. It was worth every penny. We met our guide Alla just outside the exit to the Forum and took the quick walk to the Colosseum. She stopped along the way to explain the history of Rome and update us on the metro expansion happening in front of the Colosseum. Once we arrived there was no wait as she had tickets already and we simply walked in. Despite the heat she catered to our pace, stopped in shady spots to explain things. She even got us the lift to the third floor to start the tour. She let me take as many pictures as I desired and kept us informed the entire hour and a half in the Colosseum. She had a book to show us different images of how things looked in the past. We then took in Palatine Hill and the views were amazing from the top. Once again we were able to go at our own pace and stop for water and washrooms along the way. The tour ended with time in the Forum with more excellent photo opportunities and insight. Alla even explained we could stay a wander on our own if we wished when the tour ended. Allia’s English was excellent and she engaged my wife in casual conversation whenever I took time to wander for pictures. Would definitely do this again as there is so much more to learn about these three sights.
This tour was the highlight of our Rome trip. Not only was Anna extremely personable and professional, she was just simply wonderful. While there are large groups being brought around and requiring headsets/microphones to hear everything. Anna rewards you with a 1on1 experience that feels like you’re the Emperor of Rome being toured around. It was extremely hot, she knows where to get water and shade and make you feel extremely comfortable at all times. Her knowledge of the history kept our ears glued to whatever she was saying and showing. We asked for a picture with her after because we are never going to forget this. You won’t regret it. Thank you Anna!!
We had a great tour with a really fun guide! He kept us entertained and shared fun facts. Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a no stress experience
The tour was very disappointing. We booked a private tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Forum. My 13 year old is studying Latin and ancient Roman history in school. I had hoped that this would bring the era to life for her. Instead, it was a dry tour where more time was spent on the various types of building material rather than the stories of intrigue, empire and culture that I had hoped for. I found myself wishing that we had been on a group tour or a self guided audio tour than this private tour. Not only did it seem (from overheating other tour guides around us) that it would have been more entertaining, we would have saved *hundreds* of dollars. One final point, our guide’s English was difficult to understand. She was not a native speaker and had a thick accent that made it difficult to understand. Rather than a tour that inspired my daughter to want to learn more about this fascinating chapter of human history, we all were waiting for the tour to be finished.
Elena was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable and fun. The tour was well paced and we got to see all the highlights with great historical context.
Our guide was very knowledgeable, but the experience was very exhausting due to our mobility issues impacted our tour. We had to change days so we could take advantage of the handicap entrance, but our guide took us around the entire colosseum, which, adding the heat of the day, just exhausted us. I believe she thought there was an entrance on the side of the colosseum that was closed. She did request entrance from a guard, which allowed us in. She was very informative and did a great job really painting a picture of all the history. Unfortunately, we just got so fatigued, we could not do any more of the tour and had to eliminate Palatine Hill and the Forums. Probably not the best tour option if there's mobility issues.
This was one of the most pleasant of the tours we did in Rome. Easy to book, communication is fantastic and the tour was so enjoyable. Our guide, Renata, was everything you’d want from a guide. Passionate, fluent in multiple languages and in the topic. She was kind and knowledgeable, even had iPad/book with before and after photos of what we were looking at. We appreciate the company for partially reimbursing us after our tour didn’t end up being private. They joined us with another family after our original guide got ill. Either way, if you’re looking for a great Colosseum experience, book with them. Actually, any tour because Renata said she does others too!
It was wonderful to tour the with a small group. The guide was great and it was easy to interact. Highly recommend.
Our family travel group included two young children (8 and 5) and one grandma. The “skip the line” tickets alone were worth it. We could not have asked for a better guide. Our guide, Sev, kept our kids interested and engaged the entire time. That’s no small feat. He had deep expert knowledge on the history and architecture of the area. (He’s a member of the faculty at a local university.) We felt so lucky! We cannot recommend this enough!
Selenia of Anno Domini Tours did an incredible job of educating us throughout the Tour. She was smart, had a good sense of humor and was well organized. Highly recommended that you request her as your Tour Guide while in Rome.
Our group composed of my family of 5: husband, 2 children ages 12 & 10 and mother in law, enjoyed our tour very much. Our guide Alla, was very nice, courteous and knowledgeable. She even carried a big, heavy book that illustrated the way the special places we visited looked in the old times vs. now. She answered all our questions, didn’t rush our tour, yet kept a good pace. She provided with plenty of pertinent information that enriched our visit giving us a great glimpse into the history of these monuments. Highly recommended.
Sev our tour guide was a super star. He was incredible with the kids who followed every word he explained. We all learned so much. He was easy to meet and we had a lovely afternoon. Avoiding the lines was also so great.
Anna was wonderful - fun, very informative and knowledgeable, and great with our kids. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a private tour of Rome’s rich history.
We took a private tour and are so glad we did. Our guide, Gianluca Ferris was incredible. So incredibly knowledgeable about the structures, the history, the stories. His English was excellent and was excited to answer all of our questions.
Original reservations were cancelled due to special event at the Colosseum. Rescheduling on short notice not possible. Booked this guided tour to gain access and was very pleased with Anna the guide. Started on the Palatine, overlooked the Forum, then to the Colosseum. She read the three of us well and delivered a great and informative tour. I have lots of experience in Rome, my daughter-in-law does not. Both of us were satisfied and not overwhelmed. The sites, of course, are beyond compare and necessary visits for any traveler to Rome. Would highly recommend this, especially for visitors with high interest but minimal experience.
The name of our guide was Felicity. It was an interesting, interactive tour, largely due to her enthusiasm. The earphones and the station worked very well. Certainly if I would like to visit the Colosseum in a few years, I would choose Felicity again!
Fantastic tour. Sorry I don't remember the guides name but she was great. She is studying art history and was super informative.
This was a very enjoyable and informative tour during our stay in Rome. We had a private tour with our guide, which enabled us to determine our own pace and ask lots of questions. Our guide, Anna, was extremely knowledgable and very passionate about sharing the details and history of the sites. Despite the crowds, we felt very fortunate to have such a personalized and intimate tour. Anna even told us about her favorite local restaurant when we asked for recommendations. We couldn't have asked for a better guide!
Great tour with fast entry to beat the queues. Out tour guide Elizabeth was excellent. Well worth the expense.
Our tour guide, Maria, was super! We were very delayed getting out of the airport so we were late for the tour. Maria was very patient in meeting up with us and made sure we saw as much as possible in the time that we had. She was very knowledgeable, as well as funny, which is good with kids. She kept us moving and helped us take great pictures. We all enjoyed the tour.
We had the opportunity to have Amanda as a guide. With her guidance we successfully negotiated the crowds and bureaucracy of tickets and security to enter the Colosseum and the forum with ease and minimal trouble. Her explanations were comprehensive and well thought out. She could adjust her guidance to our level of understanding in areas we knew well, and other we did not.Outstanding.

A private tour guide is the only way to really learn about the Colesseum and the surrounding ruins. Our guide was extremely knowledge. We enjoyed our tour very much.

We loved this private tour for 4 of us. Skipping the line is the way to go as the lines were very long. Our guide was extremely knowledge and added many fun facts which made the tour awesome. Highly recommend this tour!!
I'm not one to usually provide poor reviews, but we really were disappointed by our experience with Anno Domini tours. Our tour guide was 20 minutes late to our meet up spot, creating some anxiety amongst the tour attendees. Also, the phone number given by the company to call in situations like this, wasn't answered by anyone. Once our guide arrived, he seemed extremely distracted, anxious and rushed. He let us know that he was put on the tour last minute, which considering we had paid a significant price for high quality private tour, was a bit off putting. The guide realized he only had tickets for 5 entries, not 6, which was the number of people in our tour, which led to him sending part of the group inside without him and other party members to
My daughters and I had the pleasure of Sev as our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and engaging. It was the only way to tour ancient Rome. Each piece was presented to us in chronological order with much history behind it. You walked away with a very good understanding of the site. It was worth every penny. I noticed some folks walking around and not knowing what they were looking at and why it was relevant. I liked the fact that he accompanied it with a view of what it would have looked like in its day. It provided great context. Sev's knowledge and professionalism was very impressive. I highly recommend it - spend the $$ and do a private tour. ROI is well worth it!

Absolutely incredible experience with probably one of the most experienced guides we have had the pleasure to meet, a massive thank you to Ferdinando for sharing his amazing knowledge and ability to bring and visualise this breathtaking historic monument. We have as to date never have had a bad tour courtesy of viator and always recommend them.

Excellent experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable. She was very thorough and we really appreciated her descriptions and diagrams of what we were seeing today now looked like in the original form then. Nancy and Tom, San Francisco, CA

Our well informed and thoughtful guide Paulo was a master at opening spaces in the crowd for our group of 4 to see this magnificent structure. He knew the best vantage points, a lot of interesting facts and was an enjoyable narrator of the history of the people who lived at the time the Colosseum was used.

We thoroughly loved our private tour of the Colosseum and Ancient Rome. Our tour guide Michaela was informative and helpful. She had great info and was always willing to answer our questions. My wife and I felt fortunate to have a small, private tour when we saw so many large groups all around us. For us it was worth the extra money to have a one-on-one experience with a guide as opposed to the alternative.

Loved our tour. Individualized attention was really amazing at the Colosseum because of how crowded and loud it got in some spaces. Our guide was so passionate about the history and helped us to better understand life in Rome during the time of the Gladiators.

As the bells tolled the appointed hour, we met up with our guide to begin our journey through time at the Flavian Amphitheatre. Our guide's knowledge of and passion for the history of this site was evident as our guide took us back to roman times, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the sense of the site. As we wandered the Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum, we were made to feel the presence of those who lived centuries past.
My wife uses a travel scooter for mobility issues and she missed little, as she was well accommodated.
A must-do tour of Ancient Rome.

I wish i could rate this a 6 star. The tour was amazing. Saw lots of other tours with unto 30 people. Our guide Maria Rosaria arrived for a private tour with just the two of us. go early to avoid crowds on a sunday She was so Knowledgeable and she really did help us to skip the queue's , so didn't waste any time. Her respect for her countries history was humbling. She made the trip so interesting with lots of knowledge and could answer all our questions. We would not have enjoyed this trip if it wasn't for Maria. After the coliseum we walked to the roman forum and the pallatine hills... We truly made a journey through History thanks to her. Hope to return with my family to repeat very soon.

Very Informative tour with a great guide. The details she was able to give us made it a great historical lesson. Anna is awesome!

Extraordinary guide, it took us into a different century! She was really interesting, she gave more than the customer asked for!
