Our tour guide was absolutely brilliant! She really did make the tour experience great by not just sitting on the coach seat and going through history, facts etc. She actually stood facing us,the tourists and telling us about everything we saw. She's knowledge and funny. What also surprised me is that on the way back to our pick up point she continued and even answered questions from tourists not relating to the current tour, but general questions about the city, places to visit, to eat and see. I'd give her 5*
The amazing day, this time on your Pompeii & Mt. Vesuvius Volcano Day Trip from Rome with Authentic Neapolitan Pizza Lunch with Veronica 🌟For me and my husband this day to 20 yaer day wedding. Thank you ❤️
Tour was great. Vesuvius is a tough climb and is not for the elderly
Great day trip from Rome. Marious was are guide who was extremely knowledgeable and ensured our trip was perfect. Would Highly recommend, thank you!
The Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius with pizza lunch was excellent. Our guide Francesca was fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed the pizza lunch. Limoncello Tasting was a lot of fun! Would highly recommend.
The guide Marius was very nice
The day started well despite the rain, with an informative 1.5-hour tour of Pompeii led by a knowledgeable guide. However, I expected some free time afterwards to explore independently. Instead, we were rushed through the museum and taken straight to lunch, which was disappointing: pizza, with fries and fried vegetables as an appetiser. I’d recommend bringing your own lunch and, if the tour allows it, skipping the organised meal to spend more time exploring Pompeii. Everything there felt far too rushed. Because of the rain, we were taken to Sorrento instead of Mount Vesuvius. On the way, we stopped at a limoncello place, but there was no explanation of its history or how it’s made. We were simply taken into the shop for around 20 minutes, which felt like a sales stop rather than an experience. Once in Sorrento, we received a brief introduction with very little history, then had 1.5 hours to wander independently. Although the weather was outside anyone’s control, the alternative itinerary was disappointing. Overall, it felt like we spent most of the day on the bus, with too little time to properly enjoy the places we visited.
Comfortable, chauffeured ride from Rome with a group of four fellow tourists. Lots of conversation and scenic countryside views on the drive to Pompeii. Met immediately by our guide on arrival. From the moment we entered the ancient area, we were all in awe of what we saw and heard. The historical details provided on the tour were fascinating, as was every inch of the ancient city. Our guide clearly loved his job, and shared his passion for Pompeii with every shared fact and insight. The lunchtime view atop Mount Vesuvius was beautiful, and the pizza was tasty. If you order a side salad ($15E), share it with 2-4 people. It’s huge! We all ordered side salads and were swimming in leftover greens.
Take good walking shoes and be prepared, even the geologist tour is not for you if you have knee issues, it was quite the climb! However, we had an amazing day. Our tour guide Chiara was full of interesting facts and presented it all with a smile on her face from 7.30am to 7.30pm. Our driver was excellent, great skills up on Vesuvius. Our geologist, Davide was interesting and knowledgeable, as was our tour guide for Pompeii, Willie, who was a real character! Food was plentiful and tasty for the lunch. I think it was a great value day trip.
Pari was a knowledgeable, amusing, helpful guide. Trips to Pompei and Vesuvius were terrific, but too short! We would have liked to hang out on Vesuvius but the nature of the tour did not allow it. Well managed tour.
The day is long but it’s a great value. Robert was our guide. He is fantastic. Smart, funny, knowledgeable about the geology and historical context of Vesuvius, considerate of his group. Pompeii is amazing but I loved the walk up to the crater at Vesuvius. After a big pizza lunch it felt healthy.
It served its purpose perfectly for a visit to Pompeii from Rome. Punctuality, comfort, and a professional guide. It was well worth it. I recommend it.
Worth every penny! The bus driver frenchie did an amazing job with the traffic on the highway to those hills on Vesuvius. Patricia was excellent and shared really interesting history with us. The tour guide in Pompeii was very knowledgeable and navigated us through the city with history perfectly. They made the whole trip very easy and you didn’t have to stress about transportation or timing since they took care of it all.
Excellent day trip to the beautiful city of Pompeii. Well organised and good value for money.
We loved this tour and were amazed at the monistaries built in the tops of the mountains.
What an amazing experience. Jonathan is a true expert and it was a pleasure to have him as our guide for the day. Also, Paulo the bus driver was a true professional and did an excellent job navigating the steep switchback roads to the top of Vesuvius.
Jonathan is a fantastic host and guide. Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We had a great trip! Also cheers to the bus driver who took us up Mount Vesuvius.
Very informative trip to pompeii and Mt Vesuvius with Jonathan
The day trip was really good, I did find the time at Pompeii was quite brief and felt rushed but it was still very enjoyable
It was really nice! But I’d recommend more free time in Pompei and in the Vesuvius!
Antonino was an exceptional guide, very knowlegeable and personable. Marco was a great driver who should be in Formula One!
We went as a family, 2 adults and 3 kids. It was a long day but we had a great time. Our guide was Flavio, he kept us entertained with stories and informed about the days agenda. Our guide within Pompeii was also great. The pizza we had for lunch was delicious and the limoncello tasting was an unexpected bonus. I highly recommend this tour.
Our tour leader, Marius, was fantastic: friendly, warm, knowledgeable, interesting and funny. The entire experience was great. I was dreading the long bus rides from Rome to Pompeii and then back, but they were easy and comfortable. Special shoutout to Tiziano who kept us safe on the drive and maneuvered those winding roads expertly.
The guide at Pompeii talked way to fast and was difficult to understand.. he sped us through the ruins and just felt rushed
A great experience made easy by Laura’s great explanations and clinical knowledge of Italy. The tour was great from start to finish and granted access to amazing sites. Love the Lemonchello man too.
Fantastic experience. Pompeii was amazing. Lunch was delicious, I was pleasantly surprised to receive an entire pizza to myself. The view from Mt. Vesuvius blew me away, no pun intended. The trip was a bit pricey, but very much worth it. Our guide Veronica was great! She was knowledgeable, kind, patient, and very helpful. Thanks so much for the experience. I believe it was the highlight of my family’s trip to Italy.
The tour is amazing! So glad we did it! However, the head tour guide Rob Miller is the reason this tour was absolutely over the top and worth every penny! Yes, we learned about Pompeii but it was raining the whole tour with heavy downpour at times. We had about 30 people on our tour which made it difficult for us to keep up with and track of Elaina, the Pompeii tour guide. She would say things like "here to the right..." But we couldn't see her or where she was pointing. My husband and I are fairly tall people so it wasn't a height issue. Pompeii is very busy, it was raining and the crowds were all smushed together to try to deal with the weather. Not even going to mention the hassle of umbrellas! Anyway, not Elainia's fault. She was great! But back to Rob. He met us at the meeting point and right away began teaching us about the Italian ways of communicating. He continued to teach us about Italy's history and differences throughout the tour while on the bus. He gave us lessons in food and language along with history and fun facts. He even sent out food and restaurant recommendations in the CityWonders app. My husband and I had a great time touring Rome looking for the food places he recommened and the foods he recommended! What set Rob Miller apart, though, was his ability to adapt and overcome. Because of the storms, we were not able to climb to the rim of Mt Vesuvius. Rather than just shrug his shoulders, apologize and turn the bus around, he reached out to a volcanolgist friend of his to come take us on a short, easy hiking tour of Mt Vesuvius. Holy cow did we learn so much from that! He explained the different rocks we were seeing, the ages of the rocks, the different formations and how they came to be...just absolute wealth of knowledge crammed into a quick 30 minute "hike". We were so completely impressed! Thanks, Rob, for the best tour of Pompeii we could hope for! We'd gladly pay full price to do it again as long as he is our tour guide!
Great tour with a amazing guide. Veronica was very knowledgeable and helpful! Pompeii was amazing!
Patrizia was an absolute wealth of knowledge! I loved her knowledge of history and her willingness to share it with us. Great tour- i highly recommend
This was my second tour with City Wonders. Both were excellent. The meeting point was easy to find and registration was well organized. There were plenty of staff on hand. The tour guides were knowledgeable and engaging. The Vesuvius/Pompei trip was breathtaking in its history and views. Chiara, our guide, took good care of us. The meal at the Kona Restaurant was delicious. Highly recommend City Wonders and this tour, in particular.
This trip was great. The views we got to see were amazing. All the guides were brilliant and very knowlegable. We will use City Wonders for any trip going forward. The only negative was the amount of time we had for lunch, by the time everyone got their pizza we only had 15 min to eat.
Fantastic day trip to Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii! Both the climb with the volcanologist and the guided tour of Pompeii were brilliant experiences. A special mention must go to our guide, Anna, who was absolutely fantastic! She was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and kept us entertained throughout the day with fascinating facts and stories about Rome and Italy. She really added to the whole experience. Highly recommend!
One of the highlights of our weekend. All went to schedule and well worth the money. Chiara was our guide and she was very knowledgeable about the country and it's traditions and history whilst travelling to Pompeii. Mike (forgive me i didn't catch the Italian spelling) was our guide. Certainly knew his stuff and was very funny and engaging. Our coach driver Antonio was amazing, the way he handled the roads and the traffic especially the steep ascent and decent of Vesuvius. Totally deserved the cheers and claps at the end. Lunch was great and the summit of Vesuvius is a must if you get the chance. Very good value for money.
Marius and our driver were excellent hosts on this tour of Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. We always knew exactly where to go and how to meet up after each excursion. Marius also have extra tips on places to eat in Rome. Both of these sites are essential to see in Italy.
We had an amazing experience on this tour! We originally booked the Pompeii tour with the Mt. Vesuvius hike up to the crater of the volcano. The weather was terrible, though, so we ended up doing the geologist walk instead. It worked out perfectly because the geologist was knowledgeable and lively! We learned so much about the volcano, and we still ended up doing a hike up the cone. We also met some pretty wonderful people along the way! Lastly, Michael was our tour guide, and he was informative and pleasant.
Paula was fantastic!!! Shes got so much personality and so much passion for what she does!! Pompeii was fantastic and the hike was strenuous but 100% worth it!!
Paula was wonderful. So informative and personable. What a wonderful guide. It is a very long day, but well worth the experience.
This trip was well organised wit all the information about meeting points and pick ups clearly communicated before the day. Our bus driver Ramel gave us interesting commentary and was very helpful. Once at Pompeii we were meet by staff of the tour who took us to our guide Roberto. He was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. We didn’t do the Vesuvius hike or the lunch. There is time allowed at the end for you to wander around independently after the tour. The time on the site was three hours which felt like it was enough.
We had a wonderful day at Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. Everything was great from start to finish. City Wonders is very professional company and you are in very good hands for a day out from Rome. Viviana is an exceptional guide! She has a very warm personality and plenty of knowledge that she loves to share. Marco kept us safe behind the wheel - not an easy task on those winding roads!
Super well run tour, efficient but not rushed. Took needs into consideration but even if you didn’t need the bathroom at the service station, it didn’t hardly add anything to the day and you could buy delicious looking sandwiches, snacks, drinks, or dessert. The Pompeii guides were very knowledgeable and personable.
Thanks Eduardo for being our guide and making this an amazing day. The tour was tightly scheduled, the pizza lunch was good, the sights amazing and with a nice surprise at the end. During the bus ride there is a lot going on, and Eduardo passionately told us about history, geology, Rome traffic and Italian customs. But there was also time for more light hearted subjects (who knew people from Milan have short arms ;) ?) The group was good (even though the bus was filled), the driver (Roberto?) got us through crazy traffic safely (even with a Vespa brake checker 5 minutes away from our return). Vesuvius was a bit of a steep climb, but there is plenty of time to reach the top, so having a "good physical condition" is not quite necessary, as we took our sweet time. If I must give a point of improvement: during the Pompei visit, it would have been nice to see a bit more away from the tour path (with maybe some more volcanic ash remnants). That would certainly make the experience even more memorable. But overall: this trip was the best experience we had during our 4 day stay in Rome.
We just did this tour with Kiara and it was so much fun. She was a great tour guide and it's very coordinated. I guess the day we visited was typically a very busy day for them and after so many people they shut the gates at Pompeii, so they made sure to get us in before that happened which I thought was great. The guides at Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii were both so knowledgeable and it was a really pleasant day.
I had a great day on this tour. Our guide, Micaela was friendly and knowledgeable. She made the trip amazing. Our guide Bernadette at Pompeii was also great. Lunch was fabulous. Bus driver had mad skills too.
Enjoyed our trip to Pompeii it was wonderful want to go back.
Our day trip was an unforgettable experience. The sites were amazing. Our guide Marius was extremely knowledgeable with the area, he kept things light and entertaining.
That was a fantastic day visiting Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. The whole tour was very well organized, and the communication via chat was excellent. We always knew where and when we had to be, which made the entire day completely stress-free. Our guide in Pompeii, Frederico, did a great job and provided us with lots of interesting information about the history and the site. The lunch was delicious and more than enough – a really nice break during a busy day. A special mention goes to our tour guide Eduardo, who was absolutely fantastic. He took great care of everyone, was a wonderful entertainer, and kept us engaged throughout the entire tour. He shared lots of interesting information along the way and made the whole experience even more enjoyable with his friendly and fun personality. Overall, it was a perfectly organized and enjoyable day, and I would definitely do this tour again. Highly recommended!
It was well planned and organized day trip. Everything was always on schedule, guides and driver were excellent. Fantantistic experience!
Excellent tour, well organized, and our guide Eduardo was super friendly and knowledgable, made the experience very informative and fun! Would recommend.
Viviana was a warm and engaging guide; she was highly professional, calm and knowledgeable. Cesare was an excellent driver, negotiating the narrow switchbacks up and down Vesuvius. Elena was a knowledgeable and engaging Pompeii guide. Great day tour!
