Sonia was an excellent guide. She is finishing her masters in archeology and was very thorough and knowledgeable!!
Great trip to see amazing ruins without the crowds. A guide is a must! Ours was wonderful. !!!!!!!!!
A magnificent day at Ostia Antica! Sonia is an exceptional guide whose knowledge is only matched by her passion for this historic site. She was so pleasant and engaging that she made the ancient city truly come alive for us. Thank you, Sonia, for an unforgettable experience! 🇮🇹
Ostia Antica is an amazing place! I highly recommend taking this half day tour. Sonia was a fun, knowledgeable guide. She had other recommendations for things to do in Rome and the surrounding area and was a wealth of information.
Amazing tour with Sonja. She’s super knowledgeable and I loved Ostia. It was a great window into the lives of the Romans.
Sonia was amazing! So friendly and knowledgeable. Ostia was perfect and was beautiful. Not busy and super friendly people.
Wonderful day trip outside of Rome. Amazing archeological site, as good as Pompeii. Flat walking, nice amenities like bathrooms and restaurant. Easy train ride from Rome.
Ostia Antica gives a fascinating look at daily life in a Roman city. Very fine museum as well. Our guide, Rebecca, was very knowledgeable, clear in her explanations, and enthusiastic. Time well spent.
Friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. Great Insights to what was being seen. Ostia Antica is an unsung visit when in Rome. Every bit as impressive as Pompeii but without the tourist mobs and just a quick ride away.
Ostia Antica was on our bucket list for our second trip to Rome, and we are very happy with our choice of agency. Everything went smoothly, from the train ride from Rome to the tour itself and the journey back. Our guide was full of information, yet gave us time to take it all in and left us plenty of time to take photos.
Great tour guide and very passionate about Ostia! She gave us the grande tour and Brought the place to life!
The tour was fantastic, we couldn’t have had a better tour guide in Sonia. The ruins were well preserved and there was no one around so we had lots of time to look around and ask questions.
Our tour to Ostia Antica was nothing short of incredible! Sonia was the most fantastic guide! She was personable, funny, and clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about Ostia Antica and Roman history in general. We enjoyed our time with her immensely! Compared to Herculaneum, which is fascinating in its own right, Ostia Antica is so enjoyable - zero crowds and much more expansive. We took our 4 kids and 1-year-old grandson. Sonia was absolutely great about touring with a toddler - she was very flexible. The family voted on their favorite activity during our week in Rome, and this tour was the hands-down winner over the Appian Way, Colosseum, the Forum, the Pantheon, Palatine Hill, St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museum, and Orvieto. And so close to Rome! Need I say more?
Ostia Antica is a hidden treasure. There are no long queues and the place has a peaceful and welcoming ambience. Sonia, our tour guide, was very mindful of us, being older visitors, and constantly ensured we were safe and comfortable. She answered all our questions and shared her knowledge and expertise willingly.
We had two aspects to our experience in Ostia Antica. First, the site itself is very well preserved, and you can get around it in about 3 hours. It is the seaport that fed ancient Rome, and you can see all the various occupations and businesses that were part of a 60,000-person city to accomplish such a feat. The Roman baths, the storefronts, the theatre, even the community toilets. Excellent. We were just in Pompei as well, and this side trip did not disappoint. The second aspect of the experience was our guide, Sarah. She was timely and friendly. Her knowledge of the site is utterly fantastic. She explained so many details and also showed us some cool hidden sites. Watch out for spiders! Just kidding. If you go, please ask for Sarah, who is also a local Rome visual artist. Magnifico!
Our tour guide, Sarah, was very knowledgeable and accommodating. She provided us an excellent and informative tour of Ostia Antica. We met outside of the Rome train station, and Sarah had a clearly marked sign indicating she was the Viator tour guide, making her easy to identify. Ostia Antica is an interesting and lightly traveled tourist destination. It was a very enjoyable get away from the city of Rome.
My family and I had a fantastic time exploring the port . The guide was very informative and shared little known facts about the history of the roman empire, taking time showing us around the site at our own pace. The overall experience was good, with the only issue being the slight lack of information relating to the start of the tour.
Celia shared so many amazing details about life in Ostia. I am a Latin teacher and I was impressed with her understanding of the ancient world. She was also charming and made our morning very enjoyable.
Celia was my host and provided lots of useful information to explain what we were seeing, in a friendly and relaxed manner. I actually was the only person book on this particular tour, I appreciated that they still ran it and didn't cancel for lack of numbers. Ostia Antica gives a great view of what everyday life was like compared to just seeing ad hoc sites/ruins in central Rome.
Sonija Perrera was our tour guide. She did a great job running the tour. We had a great time! The site reminded us of Pompeii, but was much closer to Rome and not crowded by tourists. The small, semi-private tour was a very good setting for us.
What an amazing morning spent in this historical Roman city. We couldn't believe how intact this city is and how few people know about it! Our guide, Sarah, was so passionate and informative; she went the extra mile on this informative and entertaining tour. We absolutely loved being in her company and learning so much about this hidden gem.
My teenaged son and I had a great tour with Sonia P. as our guide. Highly recommended. Sonia is very knowledgeable and took us throughout the expansive ruins, providing lots of insights about the daily lives of the ancient Romans. If you’re a history enthusiast, you will love this informative tour. It was also nice to get away from the crowded attractions of downtown Rome.
Really enjoyed walking around the ancient roads of Ostia and into the ruins of the buildings. Our guide (Sarah) really brought the port to life with her excellent knowledge and stories. Sarah was also very helpful about other Roman experiences on offer.
Great tour. We have had Sarah as a guide. Very knowledgeable. We appreciated it because it was only the two of us doing the tour and wasn’t cancelled. She was great at explaining all the places we went. Thank you!
Enlightening and interesting, would definitely recommend for ppl to check it out, perfect place to take some great pictures.
We did the tour in January this year. It was very good and we liked it a lot. Definitely worth trying out. I would recommend it.
You get a better idea of what Ancient Rome was like after visiting Ostia Antica than any other site in Rome! After chaotic and busy first day in the city center, Ostia Antica was a welcomed space of tranquility—few tourists and plenty of space to go your own way. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, personable, and completed the experience.
We had a fantastic time wandering around this place. The guide was absolutely brilliant and very informative. She gave us a very interesting insight. She her took time taking us around the site, explaining in amazing detail what things were and how things were done. Would highly recommend visiting this site and tour.
Picks different company! We were at the meeting place an hour early and waited almost 30 minutes after we were supposed to have left- and the GUIDE NEVER SHOWED UP! We went there on our own though, with zero help from the tour company or guide! 😤😠😡🤬 At least they did refund our payment, but never the less, we wanted to learn from the guide and didn’t get to. Very disappointing!!!
Ostia Antica was a pleasant day out of the city - quiet, green, and open. The theatre and mosaics are beautiful. Walking the streets of the ancient city brought the history to life. Sara, our guide, was excellent. She had many engaging stories to share. And we ended the day with a quick trip down to the beach, just a few stops further along.
Ostia Antica We took two trains to see the ancient port: Ostia Antica. We met our guide Upon the way, Claudia, born and taught In Chile, spoke about it on the ride. We walked the old port in the morning sun From end to end, three miles of history Three thousand years since first it was begun While Claudia revealed its mystery. The lives of Romans who lived there revealed The buildings echoed with their long lost voice And we were glad that we had made this choice. A lovely day, with sun and interest. A pleasant tour, a guide who did her best.
What a remarkable experience. Julio was a fabulous guide. We learned so much. A full day of wonder! A complete joy from start to finish!
This beautiful site is certainly worth a visit. Our guide was very professional and made it easy to visualize the every day life in the city. A relaxing little escape from Rome. I can highly recommend this tour.
