We were looking forward to this, but we're left disappointed. The idea itself is great. Most clues are mostly well explained, although some aren't very clear. The problem was so many stages were not doable. One had been vandalised so wasn't there any more. This was explained in a message when we started the game, and the operator can't do anything about that to be fair to them. But for some other clues, whole roads were closed so you couldn't get down them, this was a rather large section, so we couldn't do it. Had to use the help section to get answers instead. Then further on more building work meant you couldn't follow the directions to get to the river. The whole set of steps was closed off. These look like long term building works too, so it really shouldn't be being sold while these are in place. We had to abandon it there, after 2 and half hours. We'd just had enough.
We booked the Open Air Escape Game in Villa Borghese in Rome. The description stated that the game would take around 2.5 hours, but after that amount of time we had not even completed half of it. The beginning was very enjoyable and promising. However, the experience quickly became frustrating. We spent more than 30 minutes waiting in line for a boat, which significantly interrupted the flow of the game. Several puzzles were not really playable due to issues on site. The biggest problem was a missing disc that was required to continue. We spent almost an hour searching for it. Even after receiving a hint and being directed to the supposed location, the disc was not there. This resulted in a lot of wasted time and frustration. In addition, clues for one of the later puzzles were blocked by an event taking place in the park. Temporary stalls and stands completely covered the hints, making the puzzle impossible to solve. Overall, the game showed great potential and started very well, but the lack of preparation and maintenance seriously affected the experience. We left feeling disappointed and unable to complete the adventure as intended.
It is scam, don’t believe on what you see
It was so much fun. We saw parts of the park we would never have seen on our own. The support clues were key because places where the clues led us to were under renovation. It look us longer than 2 hours- closer to 3+. Toilets (fee- 1.50€) next to the pond. You can pay €5 to add a person to the row boat.
The concept is great however it wasn't clear that there would be no guide on the ground at the meeting point so time was wasted here meaning it was dark in the park before we could complete, we had to abandon. Clearer information warning that the game starts at the meeting point should have been given. Also the paperwork was confusing premium and highlights envelopes so we were unsure which to use
My wife and I attempted this game whilst on a long weekend in Rome recently. The idea behind the game is a nice way to see more of the park, but several elements of the game were not available, not working or required a workaround due to buildings being closed. Buildings being closed for renovation is beyond the operators control, but they need to implement a proper workaround in the meantime. It felt like costs were being kept as low as possible rather than adjusting the game where original options were not available.
Totally off the tourist trail!!! It is neat to be among the locals and you try to follow the clues. Note-remember you can ask for help - several activities were blocked (construction and impromptu fashion show) but we were still able to finish Wild FOX
The escape room is an interesting way to explore the park, although it's overpriced for what it is. You get the same starting envelope with trail document whether you are 1 person or 10, but they charge full price for each person (even though only 2 get a boat ticket). It's completely self guided so I can't figure out how they justify charging so much per person, rather than just a single group fee. The phone number for the final clue is also inactive so it was a bit anticlimactic at the end.
We had a great time with my husband. Everything is very well prepared. It took us about 3 hours (there was a long queue for one activity) but we needed to start using the clues halfway through the game so as not to miss the plane ;)
The concept is very good and the puzzles are cleverly interwoven with the Villa Park well. For us, the game was too long and we ended up abandoning it before we finished. I wouldn't recommend this trip if you have any walking issues, it is A LOT of walking back and forth. Overall though was great and a cool different way to explore the environment.
It was very nice trip with amazing guides comfortable pick up in minivan and of course unforgettable views and experience in kayaking!
It does give you a perspective to enjoy the gardens and see so much of areas of Rome. It is mind taxing and creative but the one downside is there is no real solving of the mystery
It was a wonderful experience. We both enjoyed sightseeing in a different way with more interactive activities. By the way, I strongly recommend it to the couples. It’s a good chance to know each other better.
My family really enjoyed this initially. A fun adventure for my 11 and 13 year old boys who may have gotten bored in the park otherwise. It’s definitely a commitment so be prepared to spend up to 3 hours. We were disappointed by the end. 2 of the stations were no longer accessible and the last 2 took us far away from the Borghese Gardens to a random and unattractive part of town. There was no prize or finale which was a let down after all that time and challenge.
My husband and I did this during our anniversary trip while we were in Rome. We had a bit of a hiccup at the check in but called the number and got what we needed right away. The game is overall challenging but not too hard and the automated helpline was convenient if needed. It took us about 3.5 hours to complete but we took our time and rested. It was about 90F but fortunately there was a good strong breeze and plenty of shade to rest in. Got some beautiful pictures along the way! Only other hiccup was that someone didn’t leave the tool at one of the stations so it was a little tough to do the activity. Overall, if you like puzzle games and want some great scenes with hiking, then I recommend this 100% Note: We couldn’t figure out one of the stations even with the helpline hint/solution. We also utilized our phone GPS to help figure things out directionally so may want to keep that in mind if you won’t have access while abroad.
We visit as a family with two children 12 and 13 years old. The experience was excellent and we really enjoyed it, even though we didn't manage to complete it (after 3 hours) cause it was raining on and off the whole time.
Such a fun way to see the Villa Borghese! We moved to slow to finish the game, but had a ton of fun!
My husband and I had so much fun. Some of the puzzle were more hands on then we expected, but that was a huge part of the fun. Take your time and enjoy the gardens as you go. We took the opportunity to look up the history of the sights as we interacted with them. Not a game I would want to rush through. There is a lot of walking on uneven ground, and up and down hills. Highly recommend for those of us who like a little participation with our sightseeing. Thank you Foxtail!
I dont suggest this game its a waste of time………you go there and find an envelope in a drawer and than you have to find clues to solve the things…its just weird
This is a must do for anyone wanting to see more of Rome, off the beaten path! We had so much fun, ending up doing between 3-4 hrs & saw some amazing sights! Would definitely do any others put on by this company!
Literally one of the best things we did in Rome. Lovely way to see Villa Borghese and to explore the park and more of Rome. It was so well organised and we couldn’t believe just how good it was. The staff were on hand to help with clues, which was very much appreciated as we were a bit rubbish! We’re excited to see if there are any other fox trails around Europe. Thank you so much!
Lovely view off the balcony, nice to explore the gardens. You get a lot of steps in exploring which is great.
It is definitely an interesting way to explore, but there is definitely a lot to improve. When we came to the clue that was supposed to be found by boat, we asked the guy that was getting people in the boats what should we do, he told us to wait on the line in front the cashier, so we did for about 15-20 minutes, and after that the cashier showed us a green pipe and told us to fill it with water and see the animal and we did, and came back to him and he told us “ok bye”. Turns out that the boat ride is not nearly guaranteed when they are busy. So that was quite disappointing. There definitely should be some kind of compensation when people are not getting one of the reasons they booked this game with you and not someone else. Also the clues are not as clear as they should be, as the park is really big, and if you don’t quite get what you are looking for, you can spend a lot of time just wondering through.
Very well balanced for kids. We enjoyed the trail very much with our 8 and 11 years old. It was an enjoyable way to discover the park
This was a great way to go around the Villa Borghese and keep a couple of teenage boys entertained for a couple of hours. It's a ton of walking and took us about 3 hours, which was a little too long for us. Also some of the clues were not as specific as we would have liked. But all in all- would recommend.
The begin of the game was difficult: the informations were in the documentation, but not easily visible. And need to connect to a website by phone with registration number; by the term "meeting point" we thunk that a person will give us instructions in paper format.. So we waited before we've seen the mailbox (green on green).. THE PROCESS COULD BE SIMPLIER: an SMS with a clear message to enter the code (directly given in SMS !) on a digicode on a green mailbox at the meeting point.. With support we began 25 minutes after the hour, and in a bas mindset.. we cancel the game at 45 minutes. A man ask us moner for the boat; it's indicated but when you pay for 4 people, all must be included.. discussion, loss of time... not funny with a temperature of 36° in august in Roma..
Entertaining a group of teenagers in Rome is not simple. My daughter's 14th birthday was a success thanks to Foxtrail. Her idea was to have a treasure hunt organized by Mom. Even if there is no treasure at the end, the trail and resolving the riddles made the kids be engaged at all times and kept them active and excited to continue. Our guide was fantastic. There were 3 groups and he remained with one but was available always for the other groups to call and ask for guidance. He was great! Great experience, would do it again anytime. I would however, maybe choose the shorter version. It was the two adults that accompanied the other two groups that ended up exhausted, more than the kids. :)
It‘s a real fun way to explore the vast gardens of the Villa Borghese. The trail takes you to hidden spots, which we would not have seen otherwise. It covers a lot of highlights, which were breathtaking to see. We booked the trail at 2 pm, which made it perfect for a beautiful sunset view towards the end. The riddles are challenging and fun to solve. All in all it was a beautiful day out in the sunny park with fun entertainment which I can completely recommend to tourists, wanting to see a lovely part of the city.
If you want to explore Villa Borghese in different and very interesting way we higly recommend it. Very good concept and interesting clues. Also the stuff is very helpfull and kind.
I did the trail as part of a group of 5 adult tourists and we had a lot of fun exploring the Villa Borghese park. There are some very clever clues to solve (nothing too difficult though) and some nice surprises along the way. The gardens are really stunning and it is a great way to visit them. We took about 2.5 hours to complete the trail going at a leisurely pace. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to explore a beautiful part of Rome with friends and experience something new.
I did the trail in Villa Borghese last Sunday with a group of friends. Great way to catch up, spend some quality time together and enjoy a sunny day in Rome. The game is fun and it will bring you to discover beautiful hidden corners and some of the best views of the city. You can play the whole game in a couple of hours or (suggested!) slow it down to as much time as you'd like, make a pause to have a good Gelato, do some shopping while crossing the best shopping district in town. Either way it is going to be fun, very recommended for both kids and adults!
We did this experience as a group of 6, 3 moms and 3 daughters and... we had a blast! It was hilarious. We laughed for 2 hours straight, we started walking around the park like crazy people, bending over with laughter on the boat and not in the pond, to find the clues and in the end we solved everything like a real team. It was wonderful to be so involved and entertained, and to spend time together in a way different from usual. Villa Borghese is gorgeous and with this game you discover a lot of secret places that you don't know. Highly recommended for a mother-daughter experience! Thank you Foxtrail Italia!
A very fun and stimulating experience. Unfortunately, the excessive heat of that day, August 8th, was really detrimental. But we had fun anyway and would like to do it again, but this time in the cool weather.
complicated with no guidance and no participants
Avoid , no support and complicated to understand . No presence of the organization and light instructions,
Unfortunately we could not finish the route, too many in a short time considering, it had rained and it was not possible to ride the boat because the same were full of water and the manager told us we should wait at least an hour, also there was a demonstration of vintage cars and the road on which we had to read the numbers was full of people and parked cars. At Raphael's house, when we arrived there was a religious service in front of the entrance and we did not approach so as not to disturb. Experience certainly fun but not recommended on Sunday if you want to be able to finish the route.
I organized the escape for the birthday of my fifteen year old son and some of his friends, I found it very beautiful and well done as an adult but for kids of that age group perhaps it should be simplified or reduced a bit. They told me that they found the explanation not easy to understand, beyond the fact that the language must remain mysterious. Unfortunately, my group didn't finish it and, despite having asked for help several times, they ran aground. However, it was nice to meet up with friends in the enchanting setting of Villa Borghese. The parents will do the next one!!
Bellissima esperienza! Molto divertente ed è bello notare cose che magari passeggiando non vedresti. Peccato per un paio di enigmi rovinanti dai vandali. In ogni caso super consigliata!
Guaranteed fun from start to finish! We participated in the adventure with friends and colleagues and it was a wonderful opportunity to get to know the people I work with every day, even from a different perspective. The adventure is great fun and allows you to experience the park in an absolutely unexpected way. Great!
Wonderful experience in the company of colleagues. Definitely worth repeating by trying the Trastevere route. A format well done and with attention to detail which enthralled and involved the whole group. The location of Villa Borghese is enchanting and evocative where you are completely immersed in nature and the history of Rome. Time flew by as we were involved in finding solutions to complete the journey. Thank you very much to all the Staff! I highly recommend trying it
A fun treasure hunt not to be missed, spending a few hours in Villa Borghese seen from a decidedly different perspective. The puzzles, in addition to creating good team play and a fun quest, give the opportunity to revisit Villa Borghese more carefully, discovering new details. Highly recommended!
Super fun experience! made with colleagues and work friends. Very well organized route. It allows you to better explore and appreciate the fantastic park of Villa Borghese. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I will definitely be back!!
Beautiful experience, very well organized and very fun. It allows you to better explore and appreciate a wonderful park like that of Villa Borghese. Super recommended!
Fun, innovative, regenerating and with original and stimulating ideas in a fantastic place. To try
