An excellent experience from start to finish. We were a bit worried as this is a pop up studio below a restaurant. However the setting was perfect. Our own room for our group of four with another four people. Frank was very welcoming and informative with just the right pace. It was the perfect end to our four day trip to Rome and would recommend this to everyone whether you are new to wine tasting or an expert. Thank you Frank 😊

Itinerary
You will taste 5 locally-produced, low-intervention wines under the guidance of a professional certified sommelier and wine educator with decades of experience. After an initial refresher of the steps of wine tasting, we'll go on to taste very different styles of wines from all over the region. As you taste each new wine you'll be introduced to a new characteristic and the reasons behind it. You will learn about the effects different grape varieties, soil types, climate and winemaking techniques have on the end result, the glass of wine in front of you. You will also get a peek into the place wine has in Italian culture and history, general guidelines about how to pair wines with food, agricultural practices like organic, biodynamic and sustainable farming and how they affect the end result. Your interest and questions will definitely play a role in how deep and and in which direction the discussion goes - we meet each guest at exactly the level they are, be it novice, enthusiast or even sommelier or winemaker and take them a couple of steps further. Printed info & learning materials will be provided.

IF I were you I'd take 2 hours out of my vacation and attend / participate in this class It was a most and informative and memorable experience. Our teacher, Frank was friendly, passionate, knowledgeable, humorous, and a very effective educator in the nuances of wine and wine making. He also shattered the stereotype of being a wine snob. If anything he is an ambassador to wine. You'd be amiss if you don't go!!!
We did the My Lazio Wines. This was a great way to start off our Italian vacation! Our son (yes, 21 yo) had never done a wine tasting and it was very informative for him to learn about the different wine making processes and the grape varieties. We all enjoyed it!
We met Maurizio last year when he was our food tour guide in Rome. When I was returning with a group of 20 this year, I knew I wanted to share the experience of his wine studio. Maurizio and Frank hosted a beautiful wine tasting of Lazio wines. it was informative and fun for everyone whether you're a wine snob or a newbie to Italian wines. The atmosphere and presentation provided an intimate and unforgettable experience for all. Highly recommend for everyone!
Excellent. Frank knows a lot about wines and not just those from the Lazio and not just the obvious ones. You'll learn a lot with him!
Wonderful space, a delicious selection of local wines and the most lovely and knowledgeable host Fernanda. Will definitely visit again on my next trip to Rome.
If you’re looking for a pre-dinner experience at an ‘off the beaten path’, this is your place. Its quaint location tucked away provides a perfect setting for a wonderful wine tasting. Gracious and knowledgeable host make this a worth while experience while in Rome.
This tasting was superb. I appreciated the knowledge and uniqueness of the wines. I would highly recommend if you want to learn about Italian wines.
Really enjoyed this wine tasting, we were lucky to be the only ones there so we got a private experience and loved every second. 6 different local wines that you wont get anywhere else.
Super fun. Frank did a great job teaching us about the unknown side of Italian wines. Very friendly and informative....
I really enjoyed the tasting. I was introduced to 6 new wines and learned about new trends and techniques in winemaking, using the example of wines from the Lazio province. I recommend this tasting to anyone who wants to get to know and learn more about Italian wines than we can simply read on the labels of supermarket wines.
This was my first time doing wine tasting, I must say it was an incredible experience. Our host took us on a journey that transcended beyond the wine, we talked endlessly about our taste, feelings and what it reminded us of. I will do this all over again any chance I get.
Frank was amazing! We loved every second of the tasting - we learned so much, drank great wine and were able to ask lots of questions and had a great time! We highly recommend!
We had such a great time. The wine and the ambiente were very nice. They also have such a big knowledge and experience of the wines and explain everything very good an patient. Highly recommend it!
This tour was a highlight of the three trips we have taken to Rome. We learned fascinating history and facts about the wine producing regions in Lazio, tasted a wide variety of excellent wines and met the wonderful class leader Frank and other visitors to Rome. We highly recommend this wine tasting experience!
We got to sample a good variety of wines from Lazio that we would not have the opportunity to try back home (in Canada). The explanations were very good. Would recommend. We went back the next night when they offer wines by the glass (on Thursdays) and got to sample more great wines.
The Lazio wine tasting was amazing! We tried some unforgettable natural wines and learnt loads about wine in general. Franks was super knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend this to any wine lover.
Could not recommend the tasting enough! I went with a group of friends and had a blast! Delicious wine and great explanations!
It was a wonderful experience and a lovely birthday gift for my husband—but it turned out to be a gift for me as well. Maurizio Di Franco, the owner and an exceptional sommelier, was our instructor for the experience, and he was truly outstanding. He answered all of our questions with patience and inclusivity, offering an interactive and engaging approach. We are already looking forward to learning more with Vino Roma. During our session, we covered a wide range of Italian wine regions and explored various quality levels, including VDT, IGT, and DOC classifications. We will definitely return, and I believe we can arrange group-based or tailor-made lessons through good communication with Vino Roma for future occasions. Thank you for this delightful experience—not only for the technical knowledge but also for the cultural insights that were shared. We now have an even greater appreciation for Italian wines, though there is still so much more to learn. (Ela Gokalp-Aras)
You know you're in good hands when Maurizio shows you the chalkboard where he lists the wines you'll be tasting, and you've never heard of any of them but every one of them sounds divine. No wait -- actually, you know you're in good hands before that, from the moment you walk through the door, to a warm greeting and the soft sounds of an impeccably-chosen music playlist. Hold up -- even that's not true, because you knew you were in good hands from the start, when the communication before you even reached the club was friendly and knowledgeable and accommodating. The tasting was a great experience and a stellar value, but in our case we also bought several of the wines we'd tasted -- at a similarly-excellent price point -- which means we got to take the experience home with us and enjoy Maurizio's expertise even after we'd left. A lovely evening out, with a good and personable host, drinking excellent wine -- what more could you ask for? If you're in Rome, this is definitely something to check out.
Excellent tasting. We are not experienced wine connoisseurs and never once felt intimidated. Great time with my wife and son and learned a lot. Highly recommended.
We took the Two Hour Tasting of Overlooked Wines of Rome and Lazio class and had the best time. Maurizio was a fantastic host/instructor. The wines we tasted were small production and all were new to us. Maurizio provided a lot of information in a fun, interesting manner. We would highly recommend any class or tour with Maurizio, and if you get a chance to see his wine cellar during a class, don't miss it. Thank you for a great evening, Maurizio.
The entire experience was truly great, Maurizio is fantastic and the wines were truly great. Every wine was good and we got alot of new favourites.
We had a great walking food tour with Maurizio! We sampled delicious food and drink on our tour. Maurizio did a nice job customizing the tour to the group's interests. He was extremely knowledgeable of the food, beer, and especially the wine.
Had a great time!!! We went for the informal tasting on a Thursday evening. Beautiful tasting room, lovely informal relaxed atmosphere. Great wines and hugely knowledgeable staff. Wish we could have stayed longer but had a dinner reservation....you must go!!!
