This was a fantastic half-day tour, that provided a good balance of the history of Frascati, touring the city, and enjoyable a fabulous lunch at the Minardi winery. The winery offered excellent wine for very reasonable prices, alongside high quality food and (if lucky) the herbs and fruits to try on the farm. Our tour guide Nicole was awesome. He was calm, gentle, and knowledgeable given he is a local. He explained all parts of the tour extremely well and made for a very warm and memorable experience. I highly recommend this to anyone interested to see this beautiful humble town!

Itinerary
Welcome in Frascati! We'll start our half day experience by discovering the charming town of Frascati, known to be "the City of the Roman Golden Wine" but also the City of the prestigious Renaissance Villas of the noble roman families. We will tour the town first, to discover why Frascati had a key role in the history and in the wine tradition of the Eternal City. We will enjoy the different areas of the historic center, and we will taste artisanal jug wine in a traditional Wine Tavern, a place attended by the local farmers to enjoy their free time with friends and colleagues. The wine will be matched with a local tasty snack! We will then drive you to our family's ancient Farmhouse, only a few minutes distant from the town.
We will enjoy our family's ancient Wine Farmhouse, located in the valleys of the Frascati Wine, only 7 minutes distant from the town of Frascati. Here our Minardi family has cultivated vineyards and olive trees for nine generations, and produced jug wine directly in the old cellar. Our farmhouse is now a sort of "Frascati Wine Museum" surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, where we spread the culture of local good wines and good food. We will have a guided visit and tasting of our 3 Boutique Wines and EVO Oil, along with a traditional LUNCH at the farmhouse! At the end of the experience, we will drive you back in town where you will take the return train from the city center to Rome! Get ready to relax and have fun! Instagram: minardiwinery

It was really enjoyable, both the guide on the tour around Frascati and the guide at the vineyard were excellent, definitely would recommend it
Very much fun nice group of people and CB our guide Michelle was top notch rest wine excellent good and great entertainment
We had a thunderstorm and down pouring rain. The team had vans umbrellas and ponchos. They were so nice warm and welcoming! Because of the storm we had an opportunity to have the winemaker come and speak with us and give additional information on the wine making process and history. They were informative and and had great senses of humor. I would definitely come back! Wine and olive oil and food were very tasty and filling. They also had vegetarian options. Truly a great experience!
I booked last minute after my other plans fell through. It was a fantastic end to my trip in Rome.
This was the highlight of our trip. Michelle was so fun, & knowledge and made the experience that much more amazing. Definitely a good value for the price with the amount of wine and food we got during the tour. Highly recommend.
This was one of the better tours of our trip. Enjoyed Michelle's tour and her knowledge of the area and wine. Would recommend this to friends. Minardi visit was fantastic - food and wine exceptional and the host amazing. Music, lunch, wine, vineyard tour - all wonderful.
Wonderful day enjoying time outside the city. Frascati was charming and Minardi was second to none. Train ride was easy. Highly recommend.
Michele is an awesome tour guide for this trip! We had a lovely walk in Frascati, arrived by train from Roma termini-easy and inexpensive. She walks your from train and guides you through the beautiful Frascati village with local history, to breathtaking views and to a lovely place for wine and cheese and history! Drink the wine of the gladiators! Then, they drive you to Minardi for delicious lunch, music, all the wine, views and a great time!! Finally, quiet wine time in Frascati village to enjoy a special place before train ride back to Roma! Thank you Michele and the Minardi winery
I've visited Rome several times, but I'd never been big on organized tours. I booked this one, thinking it would at least be an opportunity to escape the crowded city for a few hours. Well, it turned out to be a great choice! It was more like a party than a tour---a party with about a dozen attendees from various countries. We were met at the taxi stand outside the train station by our host, shown around the (very attractive) town, and given a sample of lightly chilled white wine in a local bar. Then we got into two vehicles, and were driven to the winery a few minutes away. It is a beautiful spot, with rows and rows of grapevines across rolling hills. There we were given more wine, plus samples of the winery's olive oil on bread. High quality olive oil tastes like springtime, and this one was excellent. We walked around the property and learned about winemaking, why the soil in this area is so good for wine (it has to do with volcanic minerals), even about edible herbs that can be found in the fields. Afterward, we had lunch and more wine. They certainly didn't skimp on that! Lots of good conversation with people from other countries; and then a short concert/singalong. We had the opportunity to buy wine and olive oil; then we were driven back to town, where we could either board the train or spend more time exploring on our own. We both agreed that the next time we travel to Italy we'd like to spend more time in Frascati, and repeat the wine tour. Definitely recommended!
We enjoyed a pleasant, informative tour of the lovely town of Frascati. Nico was a charming guide. The Minardi family winery is a beautiful spot with a warm and friendly staff. We were delighted to have a long visit with the vineyard’s owner, Umberto, with Nico translating very capably. Lunch was delicious and the entertainment provided by Tony and other staff members was quite enjoyable. Great value!
This was a great experience! The host was very responsive to questions, and gave very detailed, useful instructions to find the meeting place. Our guide, Nicolo was very knowledgeable and friendly, and the tavern staff and vineyard/farm staff were also knowledgeable and friendly. The wine and food were delicious, and the live music was lovely. We had delightful conversations throughout the day. I would definitely book again!
This day was the highlight of our trip so far!!! We had fantastic fall weather. The food and wine was great. Would definitely recommend this experience.
This was one of the highlights of our week long trip in Rome. Very quick and easy train ride from Roma Termini Train Station. We had a wonderful experience with the Minardi team on the half day wine and food tour. Michelle was an amazing guide and we loved getting to tour the town and learn the history of the Minardi family. The wine and food prepared was fantastic and location is absolutely stunning. Would highly encourage any of the activities with their team. They are also very accommodating to dietary restrictions to ensure that you do not miss out on the experience.
We had a wonderful day with Pierre walking through the streets of Frascati. The farmhouse tasting and luncheon were delicious.
A great experience and must do when in Rome! The host and guide were very genuine, informative and passionate. An authentic experience:)
This was 5/5, excellent experience, everyone so friendly. The staff were amazing and the food and wine was divine. The historical tour an added bonus.
Stefany, the guide, was amazing. Alfredo, the representative of the Minardi family, was nice and fun. I loved the experience overall, it’s a great extension to the visit of Roma.
Steph is amazing and the carrier of this business. She is very enthusiastic and loves her jobs which makes it even more interesting for us visitors! The best wine tour I’ve ever been on! Deffo would recommend this tour to anyone who will be visiting Rome.
This was an AMAZING break from the city (Roma)! Stephanie was an outstanding guide and host. If you want to get away from the city, enjoy a nearby small town, some delicious food and perfectly paired wine (I bought a case!) this is the experience for you. FYI, we did it with our 2 year old who napped in the vineyard house while we did the food and wine tasting :)
The first vineyard tour and wine tasting I’ve ever done, any others now have to live up to this.. Stefania is amazing, one of the best things I’ve gone along to. Thank you so very much
Stefania was amazing! The views and information shared was a game changer during our trip. We loved learning the history of the winery and eating the delicious food.
Very nice experience, so interesting with all the knowledge the guide provided during the tour and also very good wine. Would do it again!
Minardi Family Winery was such a great experience! Everyone was so friendly and our guide, Stephanie, was exceptionally nice and knowledgeable. Definitely would recommend this tour for anyone who is coming to Rome and wants to escape the heat in Frascati.
I enjoyed how welcoming the staff from the winery was. Nicole took us on a tour of the city and he was full of information. I must say, the "breakfast wine" was delicious. We stopped to have a glass as we were touring in the city. It was wine from the Minardi Winery. Frascati wine was once called the "Golden wine of the Romans." We were very lucky to have met Umberto one of the owners of the winery. He is a sincere man who took his time telling us about the region, the wine and winemaking. Our group was a great mix of people. People were from many different placed in the world. People in Rome really should take a half day out from touring and visit the winery. The Lunch was delicious. Hearing about the region was very interesting. It has a long history.
Amazing views & wine! We really loved our visit to the winery. The guide was very funny and kind. We got a detailed intro to the wine culture of Frascati!
We had a wonderful visit to this small family vineyard. It was a pleasant break from the bustle of Rome. The food and wine were delicious and the group atmosphere was great.
Great atmosphere, a lovely day for wine lovers and people addicted of Italian food.Tour is well organized, Minardi family and the team are always offering the best time in Frascati. It was my second time and I’ll not think twice to book a 3rd experience ! Thank you all 🤍
We had such a fun time visiting Frascati and the Minardi Winery! Our host, Paula, was full of personality and information about the town and wine we tasted. We learned a lot! We first visited a little restaurant in town to try a nice quality white wine, then we went to the winery to try two more wines made there and enjoy views in the vineyard. Next we had lunch with more wine, fun conversations and a musical sing along with the family and staff. The whole experience was friendly, personable and light hearted. We really enjoyed our time! After the tour while waiting for the train, we sat down for a cappuccino and people watching in town. Taking the train from Roma Termini to Frascati and back was a very easy and direct way to get there. After a couple days of sightseeing in busy Rome, an escape out to the countryside was so relaxing and a nice change of scenery and pace. We would definitely recommend this experience!
We got the train from Rome to Frascati which took 20 mins and only cost €2 each way. Our guide Nico collected us from the station and walked us through the centre of town. Our first stop was for bread and cheese and wine at a local restaurant. Then we took the van a short distance to the winery. The owner Umberto was lovely and explained the history of the vineyard and it's wines. We tasted more bread, olive oil and wines. We tasted their home made jam and honey and more wine! The lunch was delicious and the views are incredible. Nico was lovely and we even got to hear Umberto's son sing and play the piano (he plays beautifully!). It was an amazing experience and I would absolutely do it again and recommend it !!!
A wonderful experience! Nico was the perfect host and guide who looked after the group exceptionally well. Hunberto a fountain of knowledge in all things wine! And a great piano and sing along by Alberto! A must!!!!!
Great guide - Michelle. A beautiful day a short distance from the crowds in Rome. Fun, relaxing day with great group of people. Great wine, cheese, olive oil & lunch. Music, food and wine - what more do you need? Highly recommend.
Do not believe the times for this event. We read through the event and scheduled four hours for our tour. We had another excursion back in Rome later this evening that we would’ve not have scheduled this to Ron if we knew that they would not keep their time frames. Michelle spoke way too much and caused everything to be late. If you looked at their schedule, we should’ve been back at the train station by 2:30 and had enough time to be able to make our next excursion. Instead, we had to take a special ride and were charged for that ride an extra €20 because the tour guide failed to meet the time. The tour guides response was that everyone’s happy because we are longer than described. They should’ve been much more upfront that this runs long so don’t schedule anything afterwards. The excursion itself at the city restaurant and winery were great. The wine was good, the food was good, and if the guide had talked less, that would’ve been good. Unfortunately, due to the issues and being charged for the issues, this excursion is one of the worst that we have had with TripAdvisor/Viator.
My daughter and I recently went on the Minardi Wine and food tour in Frascati and, it was an awesome experience! The views were stunning, the food was delicious and the mix of history and wine made it really special. Our tour guide was super friendly and knew a lot about Frascati and the Minardi wines and the winemaking process which made it even more interesting.
Best experience of our trip to Rome . Our guide Nico was great ! Frascati is beautiful & the Winery was just lovely , very authentic . Delicious wine & lunch . Bravo
This was the most amazing tour. Our tour guide Pierre was fantastic, energetic, knowledgeable and fun. We lived learning about the town of Frascati, the food and if course the wine. At the end of the tour the Minardi family, the staff and our guide played music and sang. It wil be a lasting memory for me and my family for sure. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
This was a wonderful day trip from Rome. It was great to get out of the city where it is cooler and much less crowded. The town is very quaint and our Guide Michelle was fantastic. She is a trained sommelier, so her knowledge of the town and the history of Frascati ( the wine )was wonderful. The Minardi vineyard is beautiful and we had a lovely time tasting wine and enjoyed a delicious lunch inside the winery. Our group became instant friends and had a wonderful day, with an easy train ride back to Roma Termini. Highly recommend!!!
Relaxing day trip out of Rome and wonderful guide Michelle. The experience and the wine was a highlight of our week in the area.
Nico was an excellent tour guide. The area was beautiful and the vineyard had amazing views. We tasted four different wines during the tour and had a delicious meal. We also were able to taste their outstanding olive oil, truffle honey, and wine jam. They we able to accommodate vegetarians too.
We were given an outstanding tour of Frascati by Piere and then had a wonderful time at the Minardi vineyard for lunch.
Great guide, great atmosfear! Amazing wine and food. Would recommend to everyone who loves wine and culture. Near Rome, easy to get there.
Went on this tour on last Sunday in April with My parents (78 years old). Good weather. Our guide was giving an interesting and funny tour in Frascati. The wine history in Frascati was interesting, and the wine stop in the city was cool. The 2 wines that was part of the tasting was good. Lunch was good in the old cellar. The music entertainment we got in the end was fantastic. It was really good to get out of from Rome to and meet the real Italy.
A lovely visit to family run vineyard. Everyone really loved what they do and they made sure we all had a great time. Pier was a great guide and really passionate about Frascati.
Really enjoyed the break out of Rome by doing this tour. The setting of the vinyard in Frascati is just superb, with excellent views back over the city of Rome. The tour is fun, informative and informal. Lots of snacks, cheese, wine and sweet wine(which was amazing). The meal at the end was really good and plenty of food and wine for all. We would recommend doing this tour. Great value for money.
Had a lovely day in the town and vineyards of frascati. Pierre was an amazing host The wine was beautiful and the food was amazing, way more than we expected. Would definitely recommend
Amazing time! Alfredo and Jo were amazing hosts and showed us the true Frascati culture (and delicious wine/olive oil)!
Jo and Alfredo were amazing hosts! Made you feel right at home. Intimate experience with lots of historical facts and history. Oh and the wine! And the food! Cannot recommend enough! A must do in Rome.
This was a really enjoyable experience. It was great to get out of the city to the beautiful village of Frascati. Paola, our guide, showed us around the town and pointed out interesting features. We stopped at an Osteria for wine and snacks then we were taken to the nearby winery and olive grove where the family explained the wine process and showed us around. We tasted the white and red varieties which were great. We then enjoyed a lovely lunch with an antipasto plate followed by pasta dish then a wine, almond gelato which was delicious. The wine was also plentiful. We even had a sing along with one of the hosts on the piano. Highly recommended.
Couldn’t recommend this wonderful experience anymore. We had a group of 15 that all loved the day and must say how funny and charming our guide Pier was. The vineyard food was amazing, the wine was fantastic and if you’re interested in a fun day out with food, history and wine then this is for you! 🥰🍷 Thank you so much for hosting us
Our family had a great time on this tour in Frascati. Initially, we missed our 9:54 train from Rome to Frascati. We called the tour guide and he promptly suggested an alternative train to a nearby town, Tor Vergata, and arranged a taxi to pick us up at the train station (with a taxi fee of 20 euro, which is reasonable). This meant that we only missed the beginning of the tour by 20 minutes. The wine tasting on the tour was amazing, and the homemade lunch was fantastic. The family vineyard is truly one-of-a-kind, featuring a cool cave that used to be used for refrigerating the wine. The hosts also entertained the guests with a repertoire of Italian and English songs after lunch. We enjoyed everything so much that my family ended up buying a few bottles of wine, olive oil, and wine jelly to bring back to the U.S. both for ourselves and for our friends. For future travelers who might take the train from Rome to Frascati, here's a word of advice: Platform 20B, which the train commonly uses, is not the same as platform 20. It's actually a five to ten-minute walk along platform 20 towards its far end. A number of other people missed the same train to Frascati, just as we did, by a couple of minutes while trying to locate platform 20B.
