Guided Tour Of St. Peter’s Basilica And The Vatican Grottoes

Our time was changed the night before and as a result we had to leave the tour a bit early. The meeting point was also changed and was difficult to find. Groups were combined and ours was too large. However, our group leader, Kelly was excellent. Great explanations and she valiantly kept the large group together. The area is very crowded and the reverence of the place is lost, sadly.

We explored the St Peter's basilica and the Grottos (the tombs of the patriarchs) this past weekend, and Eduardo was a great guide! He has a vast knowledge of history on the Roman Empiry, Christianity, Italy and of course, Vatican, and through important facts and funny anecdotes, he made our 2 hours seem like a walk in the park. The pace was great, we were able to see everything imortant

Bridget was an outstanding guide. The information and stories she provided were relevant while we waited for 45mins on the line and to go through security. She then gave info on many key works of art, design features, stories, popes and the grottos. She answered questions with ease. The tour was well paced and she took into account the needs of the group. One of the best tours ever and one of the best guides ever.

We did not get the tour that we signed up for. The starting time and location was switched at the last minute. I think it was a different company? The tour we actually got did not include the grottos, and the wait in line before it started was at least two hours. We did not have time to wait, so we left and did not see the Basilica.

This tour does not include skip the line tickets therefore you know you have a 60-90 minute wait in line. Our guide used every one of those minutes giving us nuggets of interesting facts and anecdotes. She made sure that everything that was supposed to be covered was covered. I didn't feel rushed or as if I missed anything. I cannot recommend this tour more highly.

Man, this tour was straight up awesome. We did the guided visit of St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Grottoes, and honestly, it hit way harder than I expected. Our guide, Edoardo, was the real deal super knowledgeable but also chill, like he knew how to keep it interesting without making it feel like a history lecture. Dude had stories for everything, and he broke it down in a way that just made sense. The Basilica itself? Absolutely unreal. Seeing Michelangelo’s Pietà up close was wild, and walking through that massive nave… yeah, no pictures do it justice. Then we went down into the Grottoes, and the whole vibe switched super and kinda humbling, you know? Best part is the tour wasn’t too long, about 90 minutes, so it never dragged. If you’re in Rome and thinking about checking out St. Peter’s, don’t sleep on this tour. Edoardo? My guy crushed it. Highly recommend

Overall we had a good experience and our tour guide was so incredibly knowledgeable. When I was booking I didn’t read close enough. This is NOT a skip the line tour. We waited in line for over an hour to get in. Keep in mind this was low season so the lines will get longer as it warms up in Italy. Our tour guide did a good job at giving information while we waited in line. After already walking many miles in the day before our scheduled tour and then waiting in line for over an hour we were exhausted. Once we got into St.Peters we ended up leaving the tour and exploring ourselves before leaving. It is a great tour if you want tons of information however I would recommend going as early as possible in the morning if you choose this tour because it ends up taking around 3-4 hours in total if you have to wait in line for over an hour. Overall I would not do this tour again and would get a skip the line tour if we come back in the future. KEEP IN MIND: the Vatican was the most beautiful part of our entire trip around Italy and would recommend everyone goes!!

The tour was excellent. There was a one hour and 10 minute line to get through security but our guide Eslam made the time fly. He gave detailed information of the history of St Peter’s and the popes involved. He included pictures. It was very informative and engaging. Inside the Basilica, he continued to respectfully provide information. The Basilica itself is indescribably beautiful. There were 7 people on our tour and all of us thought it was super.

Eduardo stepped in when the scheduled guide took ill and we were very grateful that he did so as St Peter’s was the top of my wish list to visit. Eduardo was an excellent guide and host. He moved through at just the right pace and just the right amount of information to absorb. Would highly recommend this tour.

We went on the basilica tour with edoardo as our guide and i couldnt have wished for a better guid. He made the tour exiting and made sure the line didnt feel as long as it was that day (we went during jubilee year) and he was super informative about the history and architecture. He had a great suprise reveal at the end that i wont spoil that left me mind blown about the basilica. Thank you edoardo for the amazing experience and when i visit italy again i hope to have a tour with you on it again.

Our guided tour of St. Peter’s Basilica was absolutly amazing! Andrea was super knowledgable and made the whole experiance both fun and interesting. She told great stories about the art and history, and realy brought the place to life. The pace was just right — we never felt rushed but also never bored. Standing under Michelangelo’s dome was totaly unforgetable. Highly recomended for anyone visiting Rome!

Eduardo took us on the most amazing tour of the Basilica and spent more than the allotted time with us. He is so knowledgeable and made the tour so interesting and captivating. We all knew a fair bit in advance of our tour and were pleasantly surprised to have the opportunity to learn so much more. He presents the information in a clear and interesting way, and this it the best tour we have taken. I recommend him without reservation and can't wait to hire him again the next time we come to Rome.

my guide changed the time at the last minute and didnt even show up to let me know since we were not in Rome as yet. unacceptable that we wasted 2 hours of our 2 days in Rome waiting and wondering

I’m giving this 4 stars instead of 5 just because it was a very long, chaotic wait to get into Vatican City and due to Basilica closures, our tour time changes. But our tour guide, Eduardo, was great and made it all very enjoyable. He was informative, entertaining and very respectful of those around us. He even helped us get to walk through the holy door which was amazing.
