She was so passionate about her city and enthusiastic. The kids stayed engaged the whole time. It was a great tour and the kids loved it :)

Our family had a wonderful educational experience with our tour guide who was knowledgeable and fun. Entry was fast and efficient with no waiting in long lines.
I have been meaning to write to Thankyou & Alessandra for the tour we booked. Alessandra’s knowledge & passion was infectious & our boys enjoyed the scavenger hunt so much..& I was so surprised at how much they learnt in such an engaging way around the sights of Rome. Bravo! We will share our thoughts on your company to all our friends who will be visiting Rome in the near future! Grazie Mille,
We had the most amazing Vatican tour with Mariaclaudia! She was absolutely fantastic — engaging, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. Despite the heat and the crowds, she managed to keep our almost 7-year-old fully engaged the entire time, which is no small feat. The tour was both fun and informative, with just the right mix of history, storytelling, and interactive moments to keep us all interested. We learned so much and truly appreciated her energy and enthusiasm. Will be back for other tours! Highly recommend!
This tour was awesome! It was fun and engaging for adults and children. Mariaclaudia Tours are the best for families! I highly recommend this company for all Rome tours.
I have learned over the years that having a good tour guide is essential if you really want to understand the history of a building/historical site/landmark. However, if kids are involved, that could be torturous! After a bit of research we found this tour and the Colosseum on. Veronica was our tour guide, she was brilliant! The group size was 12 in total and the kids ages ranged from 6 to 14. We covered the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona and lots of things in between. We had disposable ear pieces so we could hear as we walked easily from each area. Veronica pitched the information perfectly; there was something for everyone. All the children were included. Veronica used storytelling a quiz, and illustrations via books and electronic media to relay lots of interesting information, nobody was bored! Her enthusiasm for the subject, and love of children was evident, we were all learned loads. 10/10. Highly recommended.
We booked the Colosseum tour and the Percy Jackson tour in Rome. Both were fantastic! Both tour guides did a great job keeping my kids engaged and learning the whole time. I would definitely recommend and book again!
We did the Vatican Museum Tour with Simona, and she was amazing! She really made the museum interesting and fun for our kids. She is so knowledgeable, and knows how to tailor her information to her audience. She gave us nice breaks and had a little gift for the kids at the end as they won the game (kids vs grownups) that we played! MariaClaudia was very responsive from my first email about the tours, and emailed us right away with other options when she realized we couldn't do the Sistine Chapel because of the Conclave. I highly recommend this tour! I'm sure their other tour guides are great, but I would suggest to request Simona!
Castel St. Angelo and Colosseum😍We had a group of 8. 4 Parents and 4 kids ages 8-11. Alessandra (Alex) was INCREDIBLE. She kept the kids engaged, made sure the content was relevant and accurate and really made our trip to Rome come alive. We would definitely use Mariaclaudia Tours again!
Brilliant tour which took us to many sites in Rome. A great way to see the city in a child friendly way. Our guide was fab and really thought about what might be interesting for kids. Will definitely book again and would recommend to all families. The competition helped keep the kids entertained and engaged throughout.
Maria took my husband and I and our 6 year old grandson on a treasure hunt all around the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon area. She slowly but surely completely engaged him snd he had a wonderful time. Her games, stories, competitions and pictures kept him memorized. He is still talking about Maria and how he “won the contest.” So glad we did this.
We LOVED the tours we did with Maria Claudia. We did the Colesseum and the Percy Jackson tours with 4 adults and 5 kids ranging in age from 6-11 years old. Everybody had a GREAT time and Maria Claudia did amazing work engaging both kids and adults with all the history and the tours. HIGHLY recommend this company. They also did a great job communicating with us throughout the booking process and right before the tours started to ensure we were all on the same page with regards to meeting times.
We had a great time in August with Maria Claudia. We booked 2 tours with her for us parents + a 10 year old. First the Rome scavenger hunt, which was semi private with another family. Amazing, and what a great way to learn about Rome’s history, famous sites, and neighborhoods! We saw so many of the major sites, but also avoided crowds. Maria Claudia deftly and safely walked us through the streets of Rome, explaining unique thing we wouldn’t have ever noticed! The kids loved identifying the things they’ve learned along the way, spotting “SPQR” and “Madonellas.” There was just enough talking for them to learn but not enough to be boring. It was hot, but MariaClaudia showed us the free cold fountains, kept us in the shade as much as possible, and kept our minds off the heat with fun facts and activities. My son thought it was so fun! The next day, we did a private Vatican tour, joined by grandma. Again, crowded (but she noted less so because of the holiday?) but she expertly maneuvered us through. My son is very much into mythology so she made sure to take us through some of the mythology related art. She was very knowledgeable and showed us things we never would have noticed. We thought it was the perfect amount of time for all of us - my husband has been and loves the Vatican, but even he thought it was a great experience. But best of all, we all had a great time. Overall - don’t hesitate. If you’re on a family trip, make sure to book with Maria Claudia! You won’t be disappointed! My only regret was not booking her for the Colosseum!
We had an excellent tour with Simona! She was so engaging (and patient!) with the kids in the group, who ranged in age from 3.5-8. The treasure hunt game kept the kids' attention the whole time and we all learned a lot about Rome and some of its key historical sites. Marie Claudia advised me in advance that the tour would not be geared towards the 3 year old but he was happy to ride along and the other kids were ages 5+ and all loved it. Definitely recommend this tour and guide!
Mariaclaudia had our 6 year old engaged from start to finish with her informative tour and treasure hunt around Rome. So much fun, and we all learnt so much. Even our “too cool” 10 year old couldn’t resist the final challenge and found herself running around piazza Navona with the other kids to beat the adults! Thank you for a lovely tour.
We had a fantastic time with Alessandra doing private tour of the Vatican Museum and a group tour of the Colosseum. Alessandra is kind, funny and very knowledgeable and kept our 11 daughter engaged all through. Thank you, we learnt so much! It was easy communicating with Mariaclaudia and making the reservations! Mariaclaudia has been responsive even though she is super busy!
Maria was simply wonderful from start to finish. My wife and I, along with our 3 children (ages 5, 8, 10) did a private tour with Maria which was super fun, engaging, and full of information. Even my 5 yo (who is typically very shy) was asking her questions. She set the tine early with her energy and kept the energy up the entire tour! The kids did not complain once and actually said they LOVED the full experience. There is so much to see that it could easily be overwhelming but with Maria time flew and it was a breeze!! We took other tours during our time in Rome and this was hands down our favorite. I simply cannot recommend it more !
We enjoyed two Maria Claudia Tours (Scavenger Hunt Rome and Colosseum) and we can see why they book out early 😀 The tours were superbly led by Veronica and Alessandra. A perfect blend of learning/history with lots of laughs and fun. The kids on each tour were engaged as we traipsed around the sites. In fact, one of my friends who travels without kids preferred these tours as they were so much fun. We were in Italy for one month and these were our favourite tours of the whole trip. Definitely recommend for families.
Veronica was great! She explained things in a way the kids could easily understand and kept them engaged with interesting stories and a points scoring game.
Visiting Rome is a once in a lifetime experiment for our family. Instead of parade my children from one historical site to another. We spent four magical day with Maria, whose knowledge of the city and ancient history plus her story telling skills. Make Rome and its history came to life for my children. Thanks to Maria my children have fond memories of one of the most amazing cities of the world. Thank you Maria
Mariaclaudia was great. We really enjoyed her tour a lot! We wish we did more with her. She engages the kids and makes the whole tour fun even for the adults. Highly recommend.
We did two tours with Mariaclaudia and they were both fantastic. Our three daughters (7, 9 and 11) were very engaged and even one month later remember what they learned. Would highly recommend.
Our tour with Veronica was a great way to begin our trip to Rome. Veronica was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Both adults and kids really enjoyed the scavenger hunt activity. It kept everyone engaged and having fun! Would highly recommend!
Mariaclaudia Tour of the Colosseum was the highlight of our stay in Rome for our family group of 8. Simona our guide was fantastic! She had our kids engaged with fun activities with educational content for the entire tour. Highly recommended Mariaclaudia Tours for a private experience for families or adult groups offering a variety of tour options in Rome all year round. Mariaclaudia and Simona provided professional personal service with communication on booking, ticketing, meeting place even recommended restaurants truly hospitable local service. Highly recommend you book with Mariaclaudia Tours.
We cannot recommend Mariaclaudia highly enough - just today, my daughter said ‘I wish I could just do school with her - she made learning about the Vatican so much fun’
We had a scavenger hunt with Simona. She was amazing! It was hands-down the best tour of our entire 3 week European vacation. We saw a lot, we learned a lot, and we had a lot of fun while doing it! Our kids (ages 12, 11, and 7) were so happy for this tour. The only downside is that we only booked this tour with Mariaclaudia. We wish we had booked more tours with her!
This is the most incredible experience. Mariaclaudia draw our kids in the whole time. My husband said he even learned more this way about the Sistine chapel and Vatican. Please don’t hesitate to spend your money. Trust me after gladiator training in the am followed by this tour in the evening, it was impressive the way my kids still paid attention.
We had such a wonderful experience with Mariaclaudia Tours. Mariaclaudia was helpful, friendly, and responsive during all of the e-mail communications, when we were making our travel and tour arrangements. My family (me, spouse, 10 yo, 8 yo) loved our morning Percy Jackson tour at the Capitolene Museums --- what a fun, engaging way to introduce Rome, its history, and such beautiful art to kids (and the whole family)! Our guide did a great job at navigating through other tour groups, while focusing on really interesting exhibits and displays. Then, in the afternoon, we rejoined our guide for a city center scavenger hunt, this time joined by another family with two kids of the same age. Our guide expertly handled the larger group and smoothly navigated us through really tricky, crowded areas, showing us the highlights AND also pointing out small, fun, memorable details of each destination. Then, a couple days later, our full group of 8 people rejoined our guide for a Roman Forum and Colosseum tour, which (again) was wonderful. It was hot and crowded, but our tour guide tactfully managed everything, knowing exactly what to show us (and where we could rest), while keeping the kids incredibly engaged with stories about life in ancient Rome. Highly recommended!!!
We absolutely loved the treasure hunt with Veronica! She turned my tired shy son's grumpy mood into an engaged, fun energy quickly with her animated personality, patience of only a mom, and great games. We were thankful to find new paths and locations that weren't crowded, in the shade and had nice breezes. We all learned a lot of history of Rome much of which we hadn't learned on previous tours with a different company.
Big thanks for the treasure hunt. Veronica was fantastic, and our kids loved her - they are still telling the story of Romulus and Remo at home.
Mariaclaudia was very responsive to my emails and explained everything in detail. Though she was not available during Christmas, she organised another guide, Simona, who was amazing in her ability to mobilise the attention of my 3 daughters (11, 16, 18). The tour in my case was for Colosseum and aimed for families with kids. Besides being able to get tickets, which otherwise is very difficult, the tour was very interactive and interesting. If I would have taken the kids by myself, it would have been another "boring historical" experience for them. This way, it made it memorable for kids and adults alike. I never take such guides in Europe, but this time was a great thing to do. Thank you Simona for the tour and thank you Mariaclaudia for arranging it and also recommending other things in Rome.
Martina was an excellent tour guide of the Uffizi. Since we were traveling with our 2 kids, ages 7 and 10, we were worried that the art and history on display at the Uffizi would be lost on them and they would be bored. But Martina was so captivating that 2 hours went by so fast, nobody even realized how! She made it incredibly engaging for the kids by making the whole tour a game, where she asked questions and gave points to the kids for spotting paintings, identifying subjects in the paintings, talking about the methods involved in the painting and the painters and their history and asking questions about that too! The kids were focused the whole time and learnt a lot about art, history, artists and the paintings and Florence/Medici too! We also learnt a lot in the process and it was enjoyable to go through a museum with kids and not feel like we are torturing them :). In fact, this was the highlight of the whole Italy trip for both kids! Highly recommend Martina for tours with kids!!
Wow. Wow in so many aspects. The Vatican Musuem and its history is, well, very overwhelming. But this tour allowed for my husband, thirteen year old son, ten year old daughter and myself get a good understanding of the history and see the most important parts of the museum including the Sistine Chapel. We fortunately had Mariaclaudia as our guide and boy, did she bring it. From the moment we first met at the entrance to our final fairwells, she had so much energy. She brought excitement, especially for my kids, to make learning about the Vatican Museum exciting and motivating. She had such rich stories to share with lots of visuals to help us connect and understand. She definitely WOW-ed us. I couldn’t recommend any other way to visit the Vatican. (Unfortunately, we couldn’t go to the basilica because it was closed during our visit time. Since it was Easter week, there was a mass that was happening).
We did a Percy Jackson tour at the Capitoline Museum with MariaClaudia on Saturday. Maria was so engaging with kids and so knowledgable. They had so much fun racing around the rooms finding clues and deciphering ancient texts. I would highly recommend this tour if you have kids who are about 10-12 years of age and are into all things Ancient Greek and Roman
My 10 year old twins and myself loved our private tour of Pompeii. Danielle was knowledgeable and made the tour especially interesting for my children, and for myself! Danielle also showed us the nearby bus stop for Vesuvius. I highly recommend if you wish to see the best of Pompeii in a few hours and be fascinated by their life.
My family and I (myself, husband and two boys aged 8 & 10) spent a fantastic morning with Maria today touring some of the beautiful sites of Rome. From the moment we met her, Maria was so lovely, personable and friendly. She immediately formed a rapport with our two boys and had them engaged with her stories about the different sites we visited and excited about winning points for their team whether that was by finding hidden signs/ pictures or answering her trivia questions about places such as the Trevi Fountain or the Pantheon. Her breadth of knowledge and the level that she pitched the tour at was absolutely perfect for our two kids. And adding the competitive element between adults and children meant that the whole family was interested and entertained for the whole time of the tour. We barely noticed the time passing we were enjoying ourselves so much! We all came away from the tour talking about how much we had learnt about Rome and its history but in a lovely accessible way. I couldn’t recommend Maria more highly for any families who are wanting to see the sights in a way that works for both adults and children. We only wish that we had booked some other tours with her so we could enjoy hearing more about this beautiful city from her!
Maria might just be the greatest tour guide in Rome. If not Europe. We were a group of 3 adults and 2 children (aged 5 and 7) and we joined Maria for two separate activities. She has a novel approach to giving tours: a constant quiz and scavenger hunt (with points and prizes!) to keep kids and adults alike engaged. Even adults with a decent knowledge of Roman history will find new sights and learn new things. On our first morning in Rome she took us on a tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and the Forum. This tour lasted nearly three hours and she kept us all happy and engaged (even the 5 year old, in pouring rain) through the whole time. She knows all the best spots and actively rewards inquisitive children and all of their questions. She seems to adore children, and knows exactly how to pitch her tours to them, without boring or condescending the adults. On our second morning we met at the Trevi Fountain for a tour through the centre of Rome to Piazza Novana via the Pantheon and all sorts of other areas. I have visited Rome several times previously (although this was the first visit with our children) and thought I’d seen almost everything - how wrong was! Maria was able to surprise us constantly. Throughout the tours, Maria kept track of the scores for the quizzes and scavenger hunts on her iPad, and had prizes for the winners at the end of each day. Somehow (!) the children won against the grown ups on each day. The second day culminated in a mad dash around Piazza Novana trying to find all sorts of things. I cannot recommend these tours enough. They are not cheap - but nor should they be. This is a high quality tour with an expert who really keeps kids and families engaged. I have no doubt she’d also be great with groups of adults. This is a must-do activity in Rome and we could not be more grateful for Maria’s knowledge and enthusiasm.
We are a family of four (boys 15 & 10 years old) and had a total of 5 private tours with Mariaclaudia back in early November/early December 2023 and all were wonderful! The private tours we did were :- 1) Uffizi Museum Tour, Florence 2) Pompeii tour, Pompeii 3) Vatican & Sistine Chapel Tour, Rome 4) 1.5hr Colosseum Tour, Rome 5) Percy Jackson @ Capitoline Museum, Rome It was easy communicating with Mariaclaudia via email/whatsapp to sort out the tour schedules. The tours started right on time and the tour activities conducted were very engaging for my 2 boys. We certainly had a lot of fun with the scavenger hunts and our boys surprised us with their quick reactions and knowledge. Mariaclaudia and her team of guides were simply warm, friendly and wonderful! We had the honor to meet Mariaclaudia herself for the Colosseum tour!
We joined Mariaclaudia after a long morning at the Colosseum with another tour. Kids had been walking a good deal by then and yet most never complained once during the tour because they were preoccupied with the competition and information. It was nice to see the big sites (like the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona) and learn some history along the way which kept us adults happy as well.
Mariaclaudia was a fantastic guide and made our tour so entertaining for my 10 year old twins. They loved the treasure hunt (even with jetlag) and we learnt a lot about the history of Rome along the way. It was such a great tour that we booked in for a tour at the Colosseum too.
It was a very nice experience. We got to learn a great deal about Rome. My 8 year old was very happy
Our family (kids 13, 11 and 8) really enjoyed the Colloseum tour with Mariaclaudia. She was fantastic with the kids and made it a fun but also very educational learning experience. It was a good sized group, not too big and it was just the right amount of time. Highly recommended, thanks so much Mariaclaudia! We would definitely book again.
Our Tour with Simona from Mariaclaudia Tours was an absolute highlight of our trip. It was informative, engaging and fun for our teens and younger son, and for my husband and I. We couldn't recommend Mariaclaudia and the tour more highly!
Mariaclaudia and her team were recommended to us by a friend. It was superb!!! She was clear, prompt and professional in the pre-booking and booking process, clearly explaining what the kids would experience. We had Alessandra from her team as our guide for 2 mornings - she was very knowledgeable, friendly, great with the kids and highly professional. We all learned a lot in a fun and friendly way and i would recommend them to anyone - book early!!!
What an incredible experience. We did the Percy Jackson tour with our 5 and 9 year old and they were engaged for 2 hours straight. Maríaclaudia is so knowledgeable and relates so well to the kids.
This tour was amazing and our kids just loved it. We did this tour the day after we arrived from Australia and as it was so much fun, the kids didn’t complain of jet lag once. Super interesting for us parents too. Highly recommend.
Wow, what a great tour for families with kids! I've read the very good reviews Mariaclaudia has before booking this activity, but discovering ourself her huge energy was amazing! She is so passionate and enthusiastic about what she's doing that even if you're tired you will be interested and captivated about the things she tells. The kids absolutely loved the games and what was more important for me is that they learned many historical things by playing. She encouraged the kids to ask questions and to discover different things from the areas and the monuments we saw by rewarding them with points. I found it very clever to put kids against the adults rather than kids against themselves. She knows many, many things about Rome and the roman empire so the adults can also find answers to the questions they have. For me, the best sign that I made a very good choice with this tour it was when my kids told me at the end that we should book another tour with her. So, for our next visit în Rome Mariaclaudia will be the first on my list when I'll make my plans for visiting this beautiful city.
Mariaclaudia was very helpful and accomodating arranging our booking and the guide Roberta was friendly and very patient and experienced mum in handling young children. Also the price was more reasonable compare to some other guides. Excellent experience working with Mariaclaudia, highly recommend!
We had such a great time on a treasure hunt with Mariaclaudia. We had two children who had so much fun, they learned a lot of it was a perfect thing to do the last night in Rome.
Absolutely fantastic tour of thr Colloseum. Mariacaludia really made the experience come alive and kept the children engaged and interested throughout. We all learnt a lot and had great fun.
