The candlelight setting made it very warm and intimate. Seem to be approximately 20 people attending.

⭐ 1/5 – A painful tribute to Freddie Mercury. Absolutely not worth the money. We attended this Freddie Mercury opera tribute in Rome with high expectations, especially given the positive reviews. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing performances we have ever attended. The setting was intimate and charming, and the pianist was genuinely good. Sadly, that’s where the compliments end. First of all, less than half of the advertised repertoire was actually performed. That alone is disappointing and misleading. The female singer has a beautiful voice, but repeatedly pushed it into unnecessarily high notes that felt completely out of place and disconnected from Freddie Mercury’s music. The male singer, meanwhile, had a voice that was far too nasal, raspy and lacking in range to do the songs justice. Essentially, we watched two singers attempting to recreate one of the most extraordinary voices in music history, and both failing spectacularly. What made it even worse was the complete lack of passion. Apart from the pianist, the performers seemed to be simply going through the motions. No emotion, no genuine connection with the music, no sense that Freddie Mercury’s legacy meant anything to them. At times, it was genuinely uncomfortable to watch. Almost an hour of second-hand embarrassment, and frankly, we were relieved that the performance lasted less than an hour. And then, suddenly, it was over. No encore, no attempt to engage the audience one last time. Just an abrupt ending to an already underwhelming evening. Freddie Mercury was all about passion, charisma, extraordinary vocals and an unforgettable connection with his audience. This performance delivered none of those qualities. We strongly suggest that the organisers take a serious look at the quality of this production and reconsider whether it does justice to the artist they claim to celebrate. Not worth a single euro. A beautiful setting cannot compensate for a performance so lacking in quality, passion and authenticity.
Absolutely ethereal experience. Beautiful tribute to an icon while adding an operatic twist Highly recommend!
Great show, really enjoyed this alternative to a traditional Opera or selection of Arias. Wonderful venue with beautiful feel and great acoustics, little glass of vino to sit and relax and enjoy. The performers were fabulous, I even had a few tears as their voices just filled the room and ran through your entire body. If you love Queen / Freddie this was an extra bonus. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Rome ......such a cool thing to do xx when in Roma xx
Underwhelming. Enjoyed pianist and the female soprano . I was disappointed that Bohemian rhapsody was just playing on the piano. I would not recommend it.
The two singers were very good. But the sound was in the past without amplification, everything was too dark and incredibly hot. A very high price for sitting at a simple table, it wasn't a theater, it was a room. It was not possible to see the singers' faces. I knew almost all the songs. But these versions seemed to be dress rehearsals. The experience wasn't great. You should invest more money in improving the scenography and sound reinforcement. The unplugged effect is nice, but here it was really minimal. Honestly, 50 euros is too much for such a poor performance.
For Freddie Mercury fans this a great show that takes his songs and combine's them with the beauty of Opera.
Super intimate setting. Maybe 25 people total! Wine and snacks were provided, which was lovely and unexpected! The only problem was got freakin’ hot it was in the space!
I thought this show was a perfect introduction to the opera for my 15 year old son. He is familiar with Freddie Mercury and I believe in exposing him to the culture of the region. The performers we amazing and kept our attention the entire time.
I attended the Freddie Mercury Opera with much hope. But it was a lost cause. When I arrived, there were no signs, no markings, no clue what room the show would be in. A three story building with stairs, and nothing to direct us to the right spot. I and three other couples were left to wonder around until about 10 minutes before show time the doors opened and let us in. It was a small room lit by candle light and a stage with a baby grand piano. There were two singers. One man and one woman. Both seemed capable at their craft. However, the piano was horrific, and I am being kind when I say that. It was severely out of tune. My best guess is that it had not been tuned in over 4 or 5 years. But they put on their show anyway. I cannot stress just how bad the show was. Where the money went to keep the piano in tune is a mystery. To question why they had not brought in another piano or electric keyboard is beyond me. Even doing the show without accompaniment would have been a major plus. But as it was, they should have refunded me my money and then paid me to sit there and listen to that crap. It was the longest hour of my life. If I could give them a zero, I would have. I was so looking forward to this show. What a disappointment.
The poster showed at least a half dozen singers. There were only two. The soprano could at least sing, the tenor no. They didn't even perform half the songs on the program. Just terrible. Don't waste your time! This was like a high school performance. The show lasted about 55 minutes.
Was really looking forward to ending our trip with this, however as the instructions to the venue were not very clear we ended up at the wrong location as there are 2 venues with the same name next to a church , feel this should be made clearer for people that are unfamiliar to the area as we just put the name in google maps and followed the directions, no part of full refund offered or even an offer to attend a different date from the organisers so was a disappointing end to our lovely weekend, 😢
It was ok, the two singers were good, as was the pianist, the atmosphere was constantly interrupted by the doormen opening the door to let in late arrivals which would have been better if they had waited for the end of the song since the doors were very squeaky! We booked a late trip to Rome and wanted to see some form of opera and thought this would be a light introduction, but I would look around for others as this didn’t feel very legitimate and more of a money making venture for a few people, there was wine but it was pre poured, we were told we could bring our own drinks but didn’t have time by the time we got there, it was quite a short show, around 45minutes.
This was an outstanding experience on our first night in Rome! The pianist and the vocalists were incredible and the performance lasted for almost one hour. The venue was delightful with small cabaret style tables arranged for the 20 or so guests. Each table was set with a half-carafe of red and a half-carafe of white wine, plus generous portions of tomatoes, olives and nibbles. We like to do advance reconnaissance on venues in unfamiliar cities before finding a restaurant and when we arrived 2 hours before the show, there was no signage on the building which housed the Oceania Hotel and apartments. The receptionist in the hotel kindly informed us that the performance would be on the ground floor on the left-side and even recommended that we try "Target" an excellent restaurant which was a 2 minute walk from the venue. Highly recommended!
This was such a fun experience! We all loved it! Great job!!! It was so enjoyable and enlightening!!
We agreed that this was the highlight of our trip to Rome. The whole experience was amazing. Their voices were outstanding and the pianist excellent. It was fantastic value too as we had wine and nibbles included. It is an hour long but it was packed with quality entertainment. We loved it and recommend to others for a great evening out. You will not be disappointed.
I wouldn't recommend this. The pianist and soprano were nice, but the man was screaming. sometimes even false
What a secret to discover. Talk about hair on the back of your neck.... Fantastic
This was the highlight of our Rome trip. Exceeded expectations. Beautiful atmosphere and just the right length of time (not too long). You choose your wine & have nibbles at the table whilst watching the amazing singers and piano player. Highly recommend !
A very short, unengaging event. Expected a lot more. Overpriced. Venue extremely difficult to find… so much so that our first attempt of attending was ruined as Uber driver could not find the place and took us to different venue. We missed the show. Explained situation to organizers. Rebooked for the following night. Organizers refused to give us any type of refund for a problem we did not cause. Paid twice for a show that wasn’t really worth it. Performers couldn’t even make Queen songs sound enthralling! Boring! Just a money grab. Better opera shows available.
Doesn't meet the minimum expectations very low performance short and very disappointing Don't waste your time in this low quality show
The soprano was okay, but the tenor was as sub mediocre as he was frenetic and distracting when he sang. It was almost like he wanted to be a pop star. The pianist that accompanied them was just dull with arrangements with no creativity or flair at all especially when I think of jazz pianists who could have done wonders with this material. I guess this was a church and the acoustics are very live. But that's the problem. They are so live that it's pretty muddled, and I was wishing for a good clean sound system in speakers where at least the piano was miced. If you're expecting that this is all songs by Queen you will be disappointed. Half of it was not And only the last songs were really fun.In that way with a little bit more of a Queen vibe. It seemed like the audience, applause was just being polite and not real enthusiasm.
Could not understand what this was about. There was a language barrier. Was uncomfortable in tbe seat they gave me with a table of three people that I did not know. It was very uncomfortable
Being big fans we were looking forward the show but found it underwhelming. The female soprano was the only good thing. Apparently there was supposed to be a male one as well but was a no show.
Very intimate setting, and the singers and pianist are incredible. Freddy Mercury solo songs are the focus, with a couple of Queen tunes on the piano. Classical music of Handel is also included.
The place was beautiful the service and amenities were excellent the Opera singers the best and the pianist superb great performances in general we are very very happy
Fun experience, something different to do, but an enjoyable night! Dont be afraid to sing and get involved when invited to do so.
Felt thrown together. Honestly not worth the €100 in VIP for a short performance. They give you wine and bar snack at your small table for two which we thought was just for us. After the show started they sat another couple at our small table after we drank most of the wine thinking it was just for us.
Opera rendition is cool. Location rather gloomy. Performers give it their all and we really liked their interaction with us. Loved singing along to the best work of Freddie ❤️
The location was a little difficult to find. It was hot inside the building. They had fans set up, but it was really warm. They do have wine on the table and some olives, tomatoes and crackers. No water or other drinks. So bring your own water. We had to run to the store down the street and get some beforehand. The singers were amazing. I’m glad I decided to go. I won’t do it again.
Very short and not as many popular Queen songs covered as hoped. The industrial fan at the back of the room drowned out the performers when talking. We had a half carafe of red wine split between 4 people however if you're lucky enough to not be sat with strangers, you get the carafe to yourself. Unable to eat snacks as the staff had ran out of toothpicks and we weren't comfortable digging in with our fingers when seated with strangers. Talented singers and lovely setting but not really worth the money.
A very good event delivered by excellent singers and a fantastic piano player. The responsible persons for making this event, had made a romantic set ut with multiple candle lights (electric) and nice tables for the audience all with red wine, water and various snacks. They all made this a wonderful evening for my wife and myself.
Great little event for Freddie Mercury fans. The pianist and singers were very good and gave it their all. Bit concerned at the start that the audience was expected to join in, which wasn't really what we were coming for! The lighting made it a bit difficult to see the performers properly. We and some others had children with us but there was nothing for them to drink as you just get red and white wine, so it would have been good to provide water or soft drinks when bookings for children have been made. The snacks were a bit odd - olives, biscuit/bread things and whole tomatoes, but thank you to the singers and pianist as you were all fab.
Overall- it was a good performance. Bohemian Rhapsody wasn't sung, just a piano solo. The show lasted about an hour, we had dinner beforehand next door at a Georgian Restaurant, highly recommend that too. We were burnt out on pizza & pasta for 3 weeks.
Pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended it. Romantic and intimate. Take your wife for a treat and enjoy the ride. Well done, worth every penny Drinks included......
Fantastic singers! Excellent song choices! Very entertaining! Piano man was excellent and entertaining too! Left snacks with wine on the table, candle lit and intermit atmosphere. Was genuinely surprised how good it was, I would highly recommend this experience!!
It was an amazing concert. Very intimate space and that made it very special. We got a table with wine and snacks on it, all delicious and the performers we're very enthusiastic!! Would definitely recommend for a fun activity in Rome.
This was such a cool show, and definitely a highlight of our trip! The singers were fantastic, and the pianist/announcer was very engaging. It was an intimate venue, so it really felt like a personalized show. Snacks and drinks included, it could not have been a better experience! The only thing I’d say could have been improved slightly was the lighting, as the singers’ faces were somewhat shadowed much of the time. Definitely would recommend!
The show was amazing! Both magnificent opera singers and the gifted pianist and host gave us a wonderful experience of a true opera in Rome.
Very unique and fun experience in Rome. Singers were great and the pianist was also very talented. Very fun date night out in Rome.
It was an enjoyful evening. The singers and the pianoist were excellent. They provided unusual performance of Queen songs.
A great show for family or a couple. Enjoyable for everyone who wants a friedly taste of an opera with queens songs. Wine and snacks included. A cozy and inspiring location.
My wife and I ended a cruise in Rome on Apr10 2025 and wanted to celebrate with an opera. Providentially, Opera Da Camera Di Roma was performing a tribute to Freddie Mercury - it was absolutely brilliant! The setting was a little strange - a repurposed church on a back street in the Opera district. It was late at night and we wondered if we were in the right place, but that just added to the magical ambience! Table had been set with red&white wines, Roma tomatoes, cheese crackers and olives. The staff were very pleased to see a small crowd of a dozen or so, and kept us well supplied. But the music was not small scale at all. Wonderful tenor, Talented Soprano and Gifted Pianist treated to Freddie's songs in opera style, plus other traditional arias. Thank you so very much for a thoroughly enjoyable evening !! Great show! Very good performance, reasonable price. Grazie! The singers and the pianist were excellent. Great outfits!
We had a small crowd which only intensified the meaning and characteristics of the show as a whole but also that of the performers. I really was pleased with such an intimate setting and it makes me look forward to my next opera experience
A different but fun show. Hearing a good singer interpret the music together with a good pianist didn’t go wrong. Good mood
The concert is interactive: you will be asked to clap your hands and sing if you can! The pianist and host is friendly. You can enjoy an aperitif offered before and during the concert.
Very expensive for the service... Barely an hour of show! Very disappointed by the place also ... Few titles known to Queen.
You have a table, being polite guided there, white and red in the glass (carapace), olive, snacks, candles, just Perfec. The music, the song, famous classics performed in fabulous version.
Singer especially man not at the concert level. By attacking Freddy Mercury we expect to have singers at his level which is not the case for man. And the best music is not necessarily sung. And not even 1 hour of service!! On the other hand the organization (tables, drinks, very good setting)
