The guide was Sara and she was very knowledgeable about the area & the various types of food. We had 5 separate food & drink stops and each place we had something different. Definitely enough food. A really enjoyable night.
This tour was a wonderful experience in the Trastavere neighborhood of Rome, which felt out of the tourist areas and made the experience feel more authentic. The neighborhood is vibrant and bustling, and the walking (which we did quite a lot of) played a huge part in the enjoyment. But the food-wow! We tried two different kinds of pizza, one with potatoes on it (yummy!). So, so good. We tried an unusual battered and fried spaghetti on a stick, which was a delicious appetizer. We had an interesting street food that was some sort of fried popover with cheese at the center. We stopped at a delicatessen with amazing roasted pork and prosciutto. We dined at a Trattoria that served us an amazing pasta dish with wine (most of our group doesn't drink but it was available). The final course- delicious gelato done authentically (not the poofy gelato with air pumped into it for tourists). Our guide was a young man with great enthusiasm for all the foods and made the evening so much fun. If you are going to Italy you must do at least one food tour like this. We did another food tour in Verona which was very different from this one but both incredibly informative and fun. Foods tours are a great change of pace from the history/museum/archaeological tours, and I highly recommend this one!
Luca took us on a food tour of the Trastevere. We walked around the beautiful Trastevere area and tried an excellent mix of traditional Italian food and adventurous, exquisite new dishes. It was fantastic and he had copious knowledge about Italian food and culture. The pork bread was phenomenal, the supri was superb, and the gelato at the end of the tour was fantastic. We are so grateful to him for an amazing experience.
My husband and I came to Italy for our thirty year anniversary. Luca was probably the best part of our time in Rome. He was very informative and personable. We especially enjoyed the pork (whole roasted pig).
Luca took my wife and myself on a wonderful food tour through Trastevere. The things we saw and ate and learned were excellent. The best part was Luca's friendly nature. By the end of the evening we felt that we had spent a nice time with a new friend.
My fiance and I capped off our first full day in Rome with this lovely food tour. Luca was friendly, excited, and knowledgeable. We got to try a ton of different food and even returned to one of the restaurants later in the week. The tour groups are kept small, so our group easily got to know each other throughout the tour. We were especially pleased with how accommodating it was: My fiance is a vegetarian and can be a bit of a picky eater, so he had low expectations going in and this ended up being his favorite activity all week! We actually had a couple of vegetarians in our group and there was always an equally hearty substitute whenever necessary. Super pleased with this experience and with Luca! Best part of our week!
This was without a doubt the highlight of my trip. A great evening with plenty of incredible local food and drink and a really good way to meet and get to know other travellers. The small group size made it much more personal and conversation flowed all evening! Sara (our guide) was absolutely amazing - so friendly and chatty, and so full of knowledge about the local food and Rome/Trastevere's history. She could not have been better. I'll be coming back to Rome and will definitely be booking this again. Thank you so much, Sara, for making my first trip to Rome that much better!
Our guide (Fredericka) made this tour special. Lots of extras that were so appreciated! We had fantastic food, learned about the area & never felt rushed. Loved it & well worth the price!
Luca Boccia was PHENOMENAL! His knowledge of Italian cuisine was exceptional, especially welcomed because it included more than just the well known dishes. He was funny and friendly, making our time together unforgettable. Most appreciated was his offer to remain a resource for the duration of our visit with DELICIOUS recommendations off the tourist path. Well done Luca!!!
Excellent night with Sara on her birthday! We drank wine, ate amazing food and capped it with gelato!!
Great experience and food in the Trastevere area where we stayed. Federica was great and very knowledgeable. If we know anyone headed that way we would highly recommend her!
Our guide, Luca, was amazing! We enjoyed tastes of Rome that we would never have experienced on our own including the best cannoli I have ever tasted! Our 11 year old was impressed with the pasta and the roasted pork. My husband and I enjoyed the very unique pizza. Luca was very informative and friendly and everything was so delicious. Go - and go hungry!
Luca was outstanding as our guide for our foodie walking tour of Trestaverde. Very knowledgeable, fun and easy going. Explained every stop and why each stop was selected. Also provided interesting history of the area. We would highly recommend Luca to anyone.
Great Tour and a lot of interesting information from great guide Luca! Would book at anytime again..
My friend and I had a personal tour by Luca around Trastevere, and he was so informative and knowledgeable and kind. The choice of restaurants was thoughtful and well-rounded; and we enjoyed the food and the stories behind it. Overall we had a wonderful time…the choices were perfect, and our tour guide was amazing!!!
We had a fantastic time on our food tour. Our guide, Valeria, was super fun. Lots of energy, funny stories to tell, information about the neighborhood and life in Rome. She was so friendly. She really made the evening for us. The food stops were great too, of course. We tasted Italian cheeses, cured meats, wine and fried cod, pizza, pasta, and gelato. And I might be forgetting something! Definitely no need to go out to eat after this tour! (The cost for all the food and drinks was included in the tour price). Some of the stops were so tasty we revisited them before the end of our trip. My teenage son and I did four different tours with Walks Inside Rome on this trip and we enjoyed them all, but I think this was our favorite.
Sara was an excellent guide and we had a wonderful time during this tour. The food was delicious and it was so interesting to learn about the Roman culinary customs. Sara made us feel like we had known each others for years, it was very easy to get along with her. We also learned so much about the food! I highly recommend this tour if you are visiting Rome!
I would recommend you do this tour early in your vacation. The information shared will help you decide where to eat the rest of your trip to get the best authentic food. Our guide was Luca who was personable and knowledgeable and gave us the best customer service. We had a gluten free member of our group and Luca made sure each location had an option for her while we ate more traditional fare. You go to what feels like authentic restaurants and eat some of the best food we had while in Italy. Highly recommend and request Luca for a great time.
This was a wonderful introduction to Roman food and dining customs. Sara led us on a culinary adventure showing us how Romans shop, snack and eat. Along the way she was an entertaining one woman show. She loves food and loves sharing her knowledge with you and the food was excellent. Highly recommended!!
W wae are foodies, so when the opportunity arose for us to have a walking food tour, we didn't let jet lag get in the way. What a foodies delight! Our guide, Max is a chef by training, and a first class guide--knowledgeable, warm, friendly, attentive to all. We strolled through Rome nibbling on cheese and hard salamis here, 2 different kinds of pizza, then porchetta, and of course, gelato. There were a few more stops--6 or 8 in total; (all with wine, which is why I can't remember the specifics.) Max explained about the food--how it is made, and brought our attention to details that define the flavor. He put these gastrological delights into the context of the larger culture--simply ingredients, carefully prepared and presented with love. Here in Italy, food is love. P.S. Remember to pace yourself along the route. So much to enjoy!
We met our guide, Sarah, at the Plaza Navarro and commenced a culinary walk of Rome. From the first stop where we enjoyed a wine and cheese pairing in a wine cellar to the gelato at Gelateria Artigianale, the tour was a foodie’s delight. Sarah ordered dishes we may not have tried on our own. We actually went back to the restaurant in Testevere for dinner the following night. Sarah mixes things up so no two tours are the same. I’d recommend this tour for anyone who likes to experiment with good food.

Sarah was an outstanding guide and host. She was very informative about the food and culture. We probably would not have seen Trastevere had we not taken this tour and it ended up being our favorite part.

We absolutely loved this tour.. it had everything we needed..everything we were expecting.. and much much more! A nice walk in the heart of Rome with a great guide, Sara, which taught us a lot about the history and the curiosities of the ancient Rome. The food and the wine we had the chance to taste during the tour was the absolute highlight. Everything simply perfect and unique. Authenticity, beauty and fun! Totally recommend!
