Devour Rome Food & Wine Tour Of Trastevere

Fantastic evening spent with Eileen, our guide, who took us to a wonderful range of eateries in Trastevere district. We visited 6 places in total and were treated to 4 course dinner with drinks based on traditional food. Our group was a mixture of people from the UK and USA and together we enjoyed the evening, sharing food and travel stories. This tour was made to help you explore places you wouldn’t usually go to and provide you with an authentic experience.

Do not book the 6.15 Trastevre Food Tour. What a total disappointment. The 1st time we have booked a food tour and we were really looking forward to it. The suppli and gelato were good. A small plastic cup of spritz. Then the biggest disappointment, dinner. A tiny glass of white wine and a tiny glass of red wine. No real explanation of what they were or why they were paired with what we were to eat. Pasta was bland. We were then given some chicory and what was no more than 2 bites of chicken on a bone. It was tasty but we were still hungry! Over £160! Go book a nice table somewhere and have a nice meal and a bottle of wine. We felt robbed.

Absolutely wonderful. The focus is on local experience and great food from long time establishments and owners who care. The contrast with tourist dollar extraction restaurants was obvious to me. Before our tour I walked across the piazza and listened to part of a neighborhood rally about what has happened as Trastevere gentrifies. No one was “fired up” yet were passionate about their neighborhood. Supporting a tour such as this helps, and aids in understanding where you are visiting and how it impacts residents.

Excellent tour and even better guide! Silvia was so fun and made the entire experience so much more enjoyable. The servings were large and very filling. My only complaint is that there was too much food, and it was so hard to enjoy the gelato! Well, not that hard! Definitely worth the time and money, so far the highlight of our trip!

John Paul was amazing and since it was just my wife and i we got what felt like an extremely personalized tour! Every selection of wine was fantastic starting the evening off with lighter feeling prosecco and a light snack into the delicious suppli. The local bar, then the bruschetta and more wine, followed with some fantastic cacio e pepe and amatriciana. All the while learning about the history of trastevere and culture and specialty foods of rome! I couldn't have asked for a better experience or a better guide! Grazie ancora john paul!!!

Annamaria C was an incredible host! She showed us amazing gems of Travestere and it was an amazing night. I attended solo but the group was great and Annamaria was so warm and welcoming. Recommend to anyone visiting Rome!

This has been the best part of our trip so far. The food tour in Trastevere was so much fun! Our guide JP made the whole evening perfecto! He was not only knowledgeable about the history and food, he also brought the group together like we’d known each other for years! This is a MUST do tour if you visit Rome. Ask for the guide JP!!

This tour is SO worth the money, and Annamaria is the BEST guide we could possibly ask for!!! Don't get me wrong food was absolutely unbelievable (way more than what I have pictures of), and it was all authentic/not tourist-y, and we loved that it included a varitey of different things, from multiple types of aperitivos, to traditional street food (OMG, suppli is INCREDIBLE), to multiple types of local pasta dishes with multiple paired wines, and authentic gelato for dessert. Genuinely couldn't have asked for better food-wise. But Annamaria really made the tour a whole different level of experience, in the best way. She was just so knowledgeable, and we learned the history of the foods, the drinks, the places, and even the history of the names of each of those, as well as how different dishes are made and how the grapes for different wines were grown. She showed us the best local spots and educated us about the culture of the area and the cultures of the food. But the BEST part of the experience was how she brought everyone together. Annamaria is such a lovely person, and she made sure that everyone on the tour got to know each other immediately, and by the end of it we had made friends and shared Facebook info! She really went out of her way to make sure that our experience of sharing food together was also an experience of friendship and joy, because as she said, "Food is love." I absolutely cannot recommend this tour highly enough, and someone really needs to give Annamaria a raise!

JP was an excellent guide and great company. His knowledge was vast and his enthusiasm for his home town was obvious and infectious. The food and wine wasn’t all that bad too. We had a great time and would recommend the tour.

This might have been the best food tour we’ve ever experienced, and we’ve been on many! This is mainly thanks to our knowledgeable and passionate guide, Alessandro S. Yes, every food venue served local and special dishes, venues which were filled with soul, history, authenticity and pride of place. But Alessandro drew us all in and filled the evening with stories, anecdotes, and genuine heart. We were a group of 12 who all jelled very well. We all were so sad to see the evening end, all exchanging hugs and best wishes. A definite recommend. Thank you, Alessandro!
