Day Trip From Rome: Pompeii And Amalfi Coast Small Group

We had an amazing time! Our guide Antonella and our driver Massimo were amazing and punctual. We also met with a local tour guide in Pompeii, Antonio. He has clearly done this tour a million times and knows his stuff and all the other tour guides. He explained all the history and explained each exhibited area as we walked through. He was slightly difficult to understand at times but I found myself researching the information after for clarity, otherwise the tour was great. Amalfi and Positano were beautiful. The whole place is built on a cliff and cars and pedestrians travel along the same space...like I said, its a but crazy but both are very cool place to visit atl east once.

Max was the driver and Antonella the guide, I had great day out with them looking after the group. Seeing the sights at a relaxed pace, the trip was booked and planned with good communication and organisation, a lovely experience overall.

My daughter and I had an outstanding experience on this semi-private tour. We were picked up and brought home to our hotel. We only had to share our day with another small family of three who were a good fit. This was a very long day, but we were able to cover an unbelievable amount of territory that never could have happened if we tried to navigate this on our own. I booked the tour prior to my daughter fracturing her foot and she was mobile but the guides were very attentive to her needs at the locations. Our main guide Giuseppe was English speaking and patient. We spent time with another guide at Pompeii, who was a passionate archaeologist. Giuseppe was thoughtful to help with our lunch reservations, which in Positano was highly appreciated. Fabulous tour!

We just finished a full day excursion to Pompeii, Positano and Amalfi with Max and Ara. While a long day and drive from Rome, they teamed up to provide a vivid life memory. The vistas were amazing. Max is a maestro behind the wheel and Ara could not have been a more informed and lovely guide.

We had an amazing experience with Giuseppe and our driver Nicola! They created a beautiful day in the south of Italy for us, visiting Pompeii, Positano & Amalfi! They gave us tips on all the delicious foods and drinks to try including a limoncello tasting! They helped us on our shopping excursions and stopped to take pictures of our family for us at all their favorite scenic spots. They were so knowledgeable about the area and gave wonderful stories and highlighted all the regions and towns along our route. Thank you for a beautiful day! We cannot imagine our two week travels through Italy without this excursion! And another shoutout to Francesca for a great family-friendly tour of Pompeii! She knew everything and our Latin-studying teen had every question answered and every site he had pre-studied visited.

What an unforgettable experience! Ara and Max make an absolutely wonderful team. Max is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what he does. He is a great communicator, an excellent driver, and made us feel comfortable and well taken care of throughout the entire day. Ara is warm, personable, and a fantastic conversationalist. She has a wonderful way of making the experience feel both special and familiar, and her personality added so much to our time in Positano and Amalfi. A very special mention goes to Francesca, our guide in Pompeii. She is not only incredibly knowledgeable and engaging, but also an archaeologist, which made the experience even more fascinating. Her expertise, enthusiasm, and ability to explain the history and details of Pompeii brought the ancient city to life for us in a truly memorable way. Ara, Max, and Francesca made this day one of the highlights of our trip to Italy. They were professional, friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about giving us a wonderful experience. We cannot recommend them highly enough. Absolutely five stars!

This tour was a highlight of our trip. An easy way to get to both Pompeii and a bit of the Amalfi Coast. It is a lot of driving for one day, but after a few days touring Rome and walking 10+ miles a day, it was welcome! The guide in Pompeii (I forget her name) was very knowledgable. Max, the driver, kept us safe on the crazy twisty mountain roads. Antonia, the main guide, was so helpful shepherding us through the crowded streets of Amalfi and Positano so we could maximize our time.

We are so happy with our day trip that as a family we agree that it was the best part of our trip to Italy. Max and Antonella are one of a kind and picked us up right from our hotel. Max is a fantastic driver and Antonella was out incredible guide. Both made us feel comfortable, like we are old friends. We stopped at Pompeii where our private guide, Chiara, led us around the site and provided us with a personal experience, explaining each part of the site in detail. Later, we continued on to Portofino where we enjoyed an amazing lunch right on the beach and shopped for goods from local artisans. We ended the trip at the Amalfi Coast with limoncello tasting and browsed the small shops in the area. We had plenty of time for beautiful family photos. The views are absolutely breathtaking and worth seeing. I would recommend Max and Antonella today and everyday for your memorable Italian experience! Book this tour! Antonella and Max picked us up promptly at 6:30am and took us to Pompeii, where we met Anna our tour guide. Lunch in Amalfi was great and I was surprised by Antonella, as she arranged for birthday cake to be brought out to our table for my 50th birthday which I was celebrating that day. Positano was very busy but beautiful. We had about an hour in Positano so we had a drink at the seaside. Max is a very skilled driver. The coastline is very narrow and filled with hairpin turns, which Max navigated with confidence. Definitely a 5 star tour and I’d give it 6 stars if I could.

The visit was very comfortable and memorable for us. Our guide Ms Antonella was very friendly & courteous, and took us around explaining the places of Pompeii, Positano and Amalfi. In fact, the driver of the van, Marx turned out to be a guide too. He also pitched in with knowledge of the area and sightseeing and both of them kept on suggesting photography opportunities on the way. Their suggestion on having our lunch in a restaurant just beside the coast was a wonderful choice and we relished it. Overall a great experience.

We had an amazing day! My husband and I were picked up at our B&B right on schedule, and together with our driver, one other couple, and Giuseppe as our guide, we went on to Pompeii in a nicely air conditioned van. Even after a quick breakfast and bathroom break along the way, we arrived a little early for the Pompeii tour, but our Pompeii guide was already there and ready to take us. We enjoyed a terrific tour there with our small group of 4. Then we continued on to Positano, with overlook/photo stops along the way, and had plenty of time to walk around, enjoy lunch, and shop. Next, we went on to Amalfi, again with overlook/photo stops, where we enjoyed a limoncello tasting and had ample time to walk the town. On the way back, we stopped for an extra special view of Mt. Vesuvius. Everything about the trip was excellent - our driver, our tour guide, and the Pompeii tour guide. I 100% recommend this tour!

It was such a great experience to have the tour with Federica, Nicola and Max. Everything was well covered and Federica, Nicola and Max were so considerate and helpful. Travelling with a child is never easy and having people like Federica, Nicola and Max really makes it convenient. Absolutely recommend travelling with them 😔 Hope to have another trip soon 🤗

We had a wonderful day from start to finish. Our guide in Pompeii (Ali) was very interesting and considerate of our comfort. Well worth paying for a tour guide at the park. Our tour guide and our driver were both great. Guisseppi kindly made sure we enjoyed our tour throughout the day and our driver skilfully battled crazy traffic and narrow winding streets. I highly recommend!

This was an amazing day trip from Rome. Such a full day of beautiful views, rich history that you only really know a bit of coming in, and special time at the coast. Our driver Max with Mama Mia Italia tours was perfect. Patient, kind, informative, and helped deliver an experience that was beyond what I had even hoped for this trip. There is quite a bit of walking and it can be warm depending on the time of season you are visiting but if you have a full day to spend, you should hands down do this tour. The experience at the Pompeii archeological site was so enriching and fascinating. And the time in Positano may be my favorite time spent on this round in Italy for us. Amalfi was beautiful and a bit crowded but worth seeing. Absolutely thrilled we booked this.

This is a wonderful full day of awe. Our driver Max was so kind and knowledgeable and took care of our experience like we were family. The Pompeii tour was phenomenal with Francesca. The archeological site was so much more than I thought going in. We attended at the start of high season so it was a bit busy on the road and at the coast but worth it. We had lunch in Positano that was fabulous and time to shop and walk around. We spent a little bit of time in Amalfi but honestly that was enough, it was beautiful but very busy. Worth seeing. It was a special trip. It is a FULL day and lots of walking and everything I had ever hoped for. Our daughters said “Give Max 5 stars, he was amazing!”

We had an amazing day with Ali as our host and guide on this trip! We started at Pompeii and got a private tour, spending a couple hours seeing the amazing sites and learning the background of the history and culture from guide Francesca. Then, off to Positano for lunch and to Amalfi to explore. Throughout, Ali provided expert historical background and commentary. Massimo was a maestro on the roads - it’s an amazing drive up the coast and we had stops for pictures and views. It was a pretext day and highlight of our trip. A wonderful day trip and worth every penny!

The coastal views are breath taking, and be able to see and learn about Pompeii. To all readers, I encourage you to visit Pompeii and Amalfi coast.

This tour was incredible. Our guide had everything sorted for us and kept us on schedule. Our driver was incredible navigating traffic and crazy roads. The day was well planned and executed flawlessly. I couldn’t recommend it more. Worth so much more than the cost! There is no better way to see Italy especially if you only have a short stay.

We booked a private tour as we had limited time. This was perfect as we could see Pompeii, Amalfi Coast and Positano. Paola (Guide) & Roberto (Driver) were amazing. They ensured we got to see everything, they planned our rest stops, booked private Pompeii guide(Angeleno), helped with shopping, food, etc. It is a long day trip from Rome, but they made the trip seem seamless. Amazing experience, escaping Rome for a day and seeing some truly memorable places. Lots of diverse scenery and activities. And a well paced itinerary. Driver Max and guide Giulio looked after us exceptionally well, and it was fun listening to them banter in Italian. Comfy car helped keep us refreshed throughout the day, and we will treasure the photos for a lifetime.

We had an absolutely amazing experience on our semi private tour to Pompeii, Positano, and Amalfi. From start to finish, everything was seamless and thoughtfully arranged. Our driver, Max, picked us up directly from our hotel and made the 2.5-hour drive to Pompeii so enjoyable. He even stopped at a lovely café/rest stop so we could grab breakfast and stretch before the day began. Our guide, Federica, was wonderful — knowledgeable, warm, and so passionate about sharing the history and culture of the region. She and Max worked perfectly together, pointing out landmarks and interesting facts along the way so we didn’t miss a thing. At Pompeii, we had a private tour with a local guide who was absolutely fantastic and brought the ancient city to life for us. Afterward, we continued on to the Amalfi Coast, where Federica recommended an incredible restaurant in Positano and even made the reservation for us ahead of time. The food and views were unforgettable! Throughout the day, Max made several scenic stops for photos, and even though the weather was rainy at times, both Max and Federica went above and beyond to make it a wonderful experience. A special thank-you as well to Michela, who helped organize everything. She reached out a week before our trip to suggest moving our tour date to avoid large crowds — we trusted her advice, and it was the best decision! We nearly had Pompeii to ourselves, which made the day even more special. We can’t recommend this tour enough — it was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy!

We were very well served, the transfer was punctual both going and returning, the guide Giuseppe was very polite and helpful, he taught us the history of the places visited and gave good tips for food, he even made a reservation at a great restaurant facing the beach. Pompeii is an open-air museum, Positano beautiful for cinematic photos, and Amalfi with the typical charm of an Italian village facing the sea. We live special moments with this tour.

I read very good reviews of this tour, but believe me it surpasses it. Michaela at all times keeps you informed of your reservation, the tranquility of transport with the Massimo driver and the Giulio guide is aware of your needs, she chose a rich place for breakfast, the seaside meal (order the lemon fish), ending with a rich dessert in Amalfi. Our guide Lis in Pompeii finishing leads you to imagine with his story as they lived there, Positano and his lemons and Amalfi with its sea.It is a tour that you can not miss, I fall short with what I write, just excellence!
