Our guide Laura was knowledgeable and provided a great tour of each location. She explained things with detail and expertise. She allowed plenty of time for questions and made the experience truly enjoyable. We had skip the line access to each area which I highly recommend as line here can be quite long. Would recommend any tour that Laura does and hands down have had the best experience and 3 tours with the company so far on our trip.

Itinerary
Enjoy our specially designed route showing you all the famous works along with our favorite lesser-known sights.
Entering the peaceful Pinecone Courtyard, you'll pass a large bronze statue symbolizing the emergence of the new world from the old designed for the Vatican by well-known Italian artist Arnaldo Pomodoro.
Your stops include the Belvedere Courtyard with Apollo Belvedere & Laocoön & His Sons, the Pinecone Courtyard, the Gallery of the Candelabra, the Gallery of the Maps, and the Gallery of the Tapestries and amazing views of St Peter's Basilica all in one incredibly planned itinerary.
Visit the Raphael Rooms, widely considered to be among the most beautifully-frescoed interiors on earth.
Guided tour & Photo Stop
Step inside the Sistine Chapel to marvel at Michelangelo’s frescoes. Your guide can’t speak inside, but before they take you in they’ll tell you what to look for and give you the surprisingly acrimonious story behind the famous room. Soak up the little details like Michelangelo’s self-portrait and hidden insults in the Last Judgement.
Skip-the-line into St. Peter's using a special, group-only door. Listen to your guide explain the story behind the church's 120-year construction and learn about the precious art and treasures inside. Please Note: Access to the Basilica is not included in the Vatican Express option.

Julia was very knowledgeable and you could tell she really enjoyed passing on information about the Vatican. She provided insights on things I wasn't aware of despite being an art history major myself.
Julia was our guide, and she was wonderful! Her art history degrees clearly came into play, her knowledge and expertise made this tour very special. She made sure we saw the most important works of art in the museums, curating each with clear and understandable narration. To see more than the highlights, would have been impossible! And yet there was a very difficult couple on our tour who felt that we needed to look at each piece of art, which is ridiculous-and Julia handled them with a respectful professionalism which was laudatory. I could never have been so calm with this couple! Sadly, St Peter’s was closed to everyone that day (can’t argue with the Pope!), and Julia made sure we saw other aspects of the museum we would not have otherwise seen to make sure our time was productively filled, including extra time in the Sistine Chapel.
The tour was great. Our tour guide added humor and covered the Vatican very well. He went into details as needed but just stay there on tiny details.
Our tour was excellent and would recommend it to everyone! The three-and-a-half hour length was ideal for us with plenty of time spent in each location. The majority or the time was in the Vatican Museum, which was amazing but VERY crowded...so be prepared for it. Our tour guide, Vincenzo (Enzo), was excellent with historical knowledge and context that brought what we were seeing to life. Thank you Enzo! We highly recommend him to everyone. Time in the Sistine Chapel was limited to 15 minutes by the Vatican (applied to all tourists) and no pictures were allowed. St. Peter's Basilica was huge, beautiful, and amazing. The tour ended there but are able to stay and explore as long as you want. Great tour, about half a day, and strongly recommend to all!
No where in any of the literature does it state no walkers. Our tour guide allowed me & my husband to only view the Vatican museum then told us we couldn't go any further due to my walker. He said I would slow down the tour for the others. He decided my capabilities & denied us the tour. I have since written to request two thirds of our money back & was denied. This is a terrible way to do business. We did not get to see the Sistine Chapel or St. Peters Basilica. Yet they kept our money. I do not recommend this tour company (WALKS).
Vincenzo A was absolutely brilliant, very knowledgable, highly recommend.
Marta was fabulous! We had private tour for our group of 6. She was So knowledgeable! Spoke English very well and was very accommodating to what we were interested in and set a good pace. Highly recommended!
Walks of Italy Pristine Sistine Early Entrance Small Group Vatican Tour. Skip the line is not really true. You skip some of the line but still wait in lines. The Vatican is amazing. Unfortunately it is so crowded it makes it hard to enjoy. Not much can be done about that unless you can afford the truly private tour. The guide was passionate and had a lot of insight but the only times we could get this info was if we were next to her - headsets were bad. They cut in and out if you were more than 15-20 feet from her. Tried different headsets and no improvement. We were both disappointed with that part of the tour. As others have said - "Met at 7:15am, but waited 45 minutes to enter with the general opening. There is no “early” access. By the time we reached the Sistine Chapel at 9:45am, it was shoulder-to-shoulder crowded. It’s not “pristine”. We wouldn't do this tour again. It gets 4 stars because of the sites, not the tour. The tour gets 3 stars.
We did “complete Vatican: museum, Sistine chapel and St. Peter’s.” We met at the meeting point and were given our entry ticket abd headset for the tour. Our tour guide Julia was incredible story teller and a wealth of knowledge about the art and history. She was accommodating to our kids and so fun! Loved her! We still had to wait in line with the other tour groups to get through security, but it wasn’t too bad as they have timed entry. We started in the courtyard discussing the history/ Sistine chapel since you can’t talk in the chapel. Moved to the museum. We definitely needed a tour guide or you would spend time looking at interesting things that aren’t the most important. We bypassed a lot of the rooms where there were restorations and not original artwork. We got redirected to some upper rooms that extended our tour by at least 45 min and wish we didn’t have to do that. Raphael rooms were HOT and crowded. Sistine chapel does have benches on the sides if you can claim a spot. Otherwise there is no places to sit. 2 bathrooms the whole 4 hour tour (at the beginning and in the basement before going in the Sistine chapel). Tour included the direct entrance from the Sistine chapel to St. Peter’s. Worth it to not have to go around and wait in line, especially with kids. Brief tour of St Peter’s (about 30 min). The whole tour was LONG-4 hours total (with the detour) by the time we got to St. Peter’s, we were exhausted and starving. Then we were able to roam the basilica and square as long as we wanted. It was incredible tour! I would go with a shorter tour for young kids, but ours did great and Julia was super accommodating to our kids.
Involves a lot of walking and stairs. Guides are not allowed to stop in Vatican so only "break" is 15 minutes while inside the Sistine Chapel. That said, amazing once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Vatican! Guide was very knowledgeable and sweet.
This wasn’t my favourite experience, but I think the tour guide did his job well. It was extremely hot weather and he did his best to keep us out of the sun and comfortable. I don’t like the ear-piece they provide for the audio, it’s very hard to wear and kept falling off my ear. Instead I wish they provided over-the-head headphones so they are more comfortable to wear. If you choose a tour like this, expect it to be extremely busy, apparently there are 30,000 people who visit the Vatican every day. Again, this isn’t the tour company’s fault - just something to keep in mind if you’re not expecting it. You do have to keep a close eye on your guide because there are many tour groups in the same space at the same time.
Vincenzo it's very knowledgeable and knows the history but the science as well
Best tour of the Vatican. Our guide knew everything about everything which made the day interesting rather than looking at the history without the background. Strongly recommend.
Enzo was very knowledgeable and engaging as a guide. We had two eleven year olds with us who insisted we give him 5 stars as we all really enjoyed the tour. Even with 100 degree weather and the crowds, it was still worth it.
Vincenzo gave a very energetic and thorough tour. We enjoyed every minute
It was a very interesting tour. Ilaria was very knowledgeable and informative. She was interested in what her group wanted to see and know. Would recommend highly.
Enzo was a fantastic tour guide, patient and very well informed
Great tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable.
Tour guide was amazing his name was Enzo. Very informative and made it a very fun experience!
Such a great time. She went over everything and the tour was a perfect length. Covered all the essentials.
Poor communication with company and missed the tour and didn't get a refund. Can't contact anyone to help you.
Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable. So much to see, but with some guidance we got to focus on the most relevant artifacts.
Lisa was informative and kept us as cool as possible. loved the experience. More about the art and architecture than my last visit Enjoyed very much
We had a great guide on our visit to museums and the basilica which made it very interesting and memorable
The guide Fabricio was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Rome. He also did his best to get us a good viewing point.
I highly recommended doing a tour when you go to visit the Vatican museums/Sistine chapel/St.Peter’s Basilica to get the most out of your experience and this tour was a great choice! The gentleman that did our tour was great, efficient and very knowledgeable! I learned more than I ever thought that I would in a few hour tour. He also made sure we made it through the line as fast as possible, kept us organized but also gave us time to spend time admiring the art especially in the Sistine chapel. It can get very very busy and crowded at these locations but with him I always knew where I needed to be and where we were going! Regardless of all of this we got to skip the lines which were insanely long so at the very least book a tour for this reason!
Really good guided tour. We avoided the big entry queues which helped. Elisabetta was an excellent guide - extremely knowledgeable but didn't overwhelm us with too much information. We packed a lot in but there was no feeling of being rushed through. Felt as though I'd seen all the important items/rooms/pictures and was pleasantly surprised at the time allotted for the Sistine Chapel. A very worthwhile guided tour.
The tour was very good. The guide was fantastic with a lot of historical information. However for some reason it felt it was stopped abruptly before the Sistine chapel. However it did not take anything away from the experience. Great company and great guide
Our guide Julia was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining with her information. She kept us moving through the crowds and stopping where less busy. Very informative and the experience was great.
Highly recommend. Would have missed out on a lot if we didn’t have our tour guide. Definitely necessary to book a tour for this otherwise you’ll wait in line forever and may not get in. This ticket skips the lines. Length of time was perfect
It involves a bit of walking and many steps in an extremely crowded place but the guide was very good and informative. We were very satisfied with our guide and the tour.
Sev was an amazing tour guide. He was knowledgeable and shared great insights that we would have missed without a guide. Sev knew exactly where to take us to limit time waiting in line and the St Peter’s bypass is definitely worth the price. If you take a taxi, the driver might drop you off at the wrong spot among the other tours by a cafe even if you give them the correct address, just walk up the hill from the cafe to the meeting point.
Our guide Carolina was awesome. She explained so much about the beautiful things we were seeing. Our group was small and enjoyable
We did the Vatican museums and St. Peter’s Basilica tour with Antonietta with a group of 16. She guided us through the various queues to enter the museum and provided lots of information on the building and various pieces of art. The tour moved at a decent pace to allow us time to take in the artwork and beautiful Sistine Chapel. This tour allowed us to access St. Peter’s Basilica without having to exit and line up. The Basilica was stunning and we were able to remain after the tour ended to take a more detailed look at certain areas. Antonietta was excellent and the tour allowed us to skip lines. Would recommend.
Finding the tour guide was very easy and as expected with the directions provided. Our tour guide was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and attentive to make sure we all stayed together. There was a lot to see and our guide was helpful in focusing our attention on certain details and explaining what we were looking at. A tour is definitely the way to go when visiting Vatican City for the first time.
Our guide Massimo was amazing! Friendly, fun, had a lot of knowledge, he simply made our day better!😀
Unbelievable experience. Really enjoyed this tour. Guide was personable and knowledgeable. Could tell she had a lot of experience!
The guide talked too fast and the sound was not good. Given that this was Vatican express, it , was too much information, lack of structure and not according to expectations
Astonishing art throughout the Vatican expertly explained by our guide, wonderful experience all round but Rome morning traffic horrific
I scheduled this tour for 4:15,no one showed up and I had to go through the trip advisor app to see that the tour was changed to 1:15. I received no email to this change, I had to completely change the entire schedule of my Italy trip because of this. NOT HAPPY!!!!!!
The tour with Walks of Italy was fantastic! Paola our guide has been so nice knowledgeble and professional that at the end we did not want to leave. The Vatican is a place to visit at least once in life, the richness of unique works, its beauty and history make it fascinating also for those who are not interested in art. The tour was perfectly organized, we could skip the line and even if the museum is huge we could focus the attention on the masterpieces without missing anything. We warmly suggest the visit and thank again Paola for the extraordinary experience.
It was a fantastic morning in the Vatican. Our Walks guide, Paola F., was amazing! Knowledgeable, kind and with a great sense of humour. Really enjoyed her commentary! The Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and S. Peter's Basilica are spectacular and, thanks to Paola and Walks, I had a most wonderful experience. Thank you!
I was expecting a guided tour and this was not. Although we had a giude - it was if she was giving the tour for herself- just kept walking without any concern for the participants. At one point I had to catch up to her tap her and let her know the rest of group was way back. She was so far ahead that we couldn’t even hear about the sites. It was expensive and a waste because we basically walked through ourself. Custom service also horrible, I emailed them my concerns and it has not been addressed in 2 months. We wasted lots of money to try to chase a tour guide that we couldn’t even hear on the headphones cause she was so far away.
Great tour with a wonderful guide! Would highly recommend this group tour. Our guide seamlessly guided us through the crowds, ensuring a smooth tour from start to finish. He was very knowledgeable and gave an informative description of all the many beautiful pieces of the Vatican.
This was a great tour of the museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. Even though we booked the 7:15 am tour it was still extremely crowded by the time we reached St. Peter's; I can't imagine going any later in the day. It was great being able to use the direct walkway to get to St. Peter's so we didn't have to go through security again. Our guide was very knowledgeable and she did a good job of covering all the main sites and she was good at keeping our group all together
It’s a whirlwind of information expertly delivered. You don’t get to see st marks square. Best time of day for the tour was a the last one in the day.
Very informative, but very crowded. Our guide Paola was very good. Many parts were closed last minute as the Pope was having a special service/meeting, so we weren't able to go to St. Peter's Basilica or the square. While disappointing, we did see a lot. Due to the closures there was overcrowding in many areas with multiple tour groups and regular patrons. If you have walking handicaps, this may be too difficult to navigate.
The tour was great. So much history and great art to see and learn about. Our guide (apologies for not remembering her name) was FANTASTIC. She was SOOOO knowledgeable, had a great understanding of what happened and why, good sense of humor. I learned so much not about just the Vatican, but about Rome & Italy as well. Well done. The next time I want a tour this company is the first (& only) place I will use.
Tour was thoroughly enjoyable and filled with great history and information. Exactly as advertised and exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Vita, was simply great! Definitely would recommend this tour.
