Colosseum Game For Kids And Families

I heard about MariaClaudia tours on a Facebook group for families with children travelling Italy. There were only rave reviews! We did a tour of the Colosseum & the Roman Forum in July with Veronica. Our kids aged 16, 13 & 11 (as well as us parents) stayed engaged and learnt a lot about life in Rome thousands of years ago. We all learnt so much more than we would have if we had just visited the sites ourselves. It was also great to have someone purchase the tickets for us, as I saw there was a lot of stress with people purchasing their tickets. We actually did 4 separate tours with MariaClaudia during our time in Italy, each with a different guide. Each guide was quite different, but all were brilliant! Would highly recommend!

Our private family friendly tours at the Colosseum, Vatican City and Pompei was the best money we spent on our trip. Both our guides were great with our 7 year old and kept them engaged, and the parents learned alot too. We would book with them again.

We did two tours in Rome with MariaClaudia: the City Center treasure hunt and the Colosseum/Roman Forum. Our group included four adults and five kids ages 4–12, and everyone agreed that MariaClaudia was by far the best guide we’ve ever had, and we’ve taken many tours over the years. She was warm, funny, incredibly knowledgeable, and amazing at keeping the kids engaged without ever making the adults feel like the tour was “just for kids.” The pacing was perfect, the length was just right, and she made the history of Rome feel fun, memorable, and easy to follow for all ages. We also toured the Vatican with another company during the same trip, and it did not come close to the experience we had with MariaClaudia. She truly set the bar. On top of that, the value was excellent, especially compared with other tours we considered. We would recommend MariaClaudia without hesitation to anyone visiting Rome, especially families.

We booked a tour with Simona, a guide of Mariaclaudia's company. She was excellent and made the history of the colosseum come to life. I would really recommend this tour for families. Simona kept our 2 kids engaged throughout and taught us all so much!

We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Mariaclaudia Tours! Our guide, Veronica, was phenomenal with our three children, ages 11, 8, and 5. She brought ancient Rome to life in such an exciting and engaging way that the kids were literally jumping up and down with enthusiasm! Best tour we did in Italy. Alessandra was amazing and kept my kids ages 8 and 11 (and adults) engaged for the full 2 hours. We learned so much! Will definitely do this company again!!!

We worked with Mariaclaudia to book two private tours with our children during our visit to Italy (Colosseum and Pompeii). The booking process was seamless and communication leading up to our tours was great. I could not imagine visiting these sites with our children and not having a tour guide! The guides were very engaging and both the adults and kids learned a lot!

Our MariaClaudia tours were fabulous! Veronica was the best guide we have ever had in Rome! She was focused on the kids( which is what we wanted) , engaging, entertaining , patient, and informative. She kept the kids’ attention the whole time! They learned so much about history , Roman numerals,, architecture, etc without feeling like they were in school! We all loved it. We did the Treasure Hunt tour , the Colisseum tour, and the Mythology tour . The kids were asking for more!!

We had such a great time on our colosseum tour, the games were excellent and our 10 year old son with ADHD was so engaged, and Maria Claudia was so lovely with him. We all loved learning about the amazing history of the colosseum.

I highly recommend Mariaclaudia tours! We did both the Colosseum and Vatican tour with our three kids (ages 10, 10, 8) and we were amazed at how well the tour guides kept our the kids engaged. We learned as much as the kids about through the tour. The length of the visit was perfect. It was super easy to book and confirm. We had Veronica as our guide for the colosseum and the forum, and she was absolutely amazing with our 10 year old son. It was a very hot day, yet he was totally engaged with Veronica the entire time, and she was so gracious and accommodating answering his questions, and letting him go on tangents based on his interests while still moving us forward thorough the ancient monuments. The tour was well-paced, and it was clear that Veronica was a veteran of navigating the crowds. The tour was of course more expensive as it was just for my son, wife, and me, but it was worth every penny to have access to Veronica's experience and insights. The tour was truly a highlight of our trip, and one that my son mentions almost daily still, months after it happened. Thank you!

The most engaging, fun and informative tour we have ever been on. Simona our guide was so warm, engaging and knowledgeable. A historian her depth of knowledge was incredible. It was so professionally run with the parents v kids scavenger hunt game making it fun for the kids. We had this tour booked and sadly the colosseum was closed for the day due to a tragic death of a worker so we switched the tour to outside the colosseum - Simona did such a good job that we didn’t feel we missed out. Our kids are history buffs and love the colosseum and Simona was so patient answering all their questions. Best thing we did in Rome. Thank you!

We did three family friendly tours in three different cities and loved them all! Our kids were so engaged and learned a ton. The guides were all highly communicative and educational. As a busy mom responsible for planning everything, it was so nice to sit back and have someone else be in charge for once - and do it better than I ever could. If you’re on the fence just do it! You’ll be so glad you did.

One of the highlights of our trip was this tour. Veronica is an absolute gem and fantastic with kids, not only did they (and us) have so much fun, but they learnt so much and still tell family and friends all their fun facts. It was a ridiculously hot day and Veronica ensured we were all comfortable and still had an enjoyable time. Would 100% recommend and would definitely book again.

Mariaclaudia was wonderful! First, I had to change my dates and she patiently helped me rearrange the tour, Second, she guided us to the 4:00 because it would be cooler and by the time we got to Rome, it was during a heatwave. Third, she bought us waters from a vendor because we had no cash. On top of all that, she gave us a great tour and even engaged my cranky teenager and made him like it. We highly recommend Mariaclaudia tours. She is a really great person and guide and a private tour is worth the money.

We loved our Vatican tour with Simona. We had ages 11 up to 69 in our group of 8 and she made it very fun and interactive with a competition between us. It was helpful to have her navigating us through the Vatican museums. Learned much more than we would on our own. Simona was delightful!

This was an absolute highlight of our time in Rome! We are a family of a four: 6, 16 and two adults and through the kids tour we all learned *so much* and had a blast with our tour guide - Veronica! She’s a pro, a wealth of knowledge and can beautifully explain history. I could have talked hours with her! She knows all the great photo spots too :) Don’t hesitate to book her, she is a pro and so fun!

I cannot say enough good things about the tour we had with Mariaclaudia Tours of the Colosseum. It was myself (mom), my adult son (age 23), and two younger sons (ages 7 & 8). We met our amazing guide, Simona, easily at the meet up spot. We were early and she was too so we started the tour early with ease. She brought a tablet that helped show what the Colosseum and surrounding area would have looked like back in the past which truly helped bring everything "to life" with my younger boys. She captured and held the attention of two VERY active boys the entire tour and they claimed it was the best thing we did all trip. It was one of the highlights of our 3-week vacation for sure! She navigated the admission entrance for us easily, gave the boys breaks when she could tell they needed to sit away from the crowd for a few minutes, and made part of it into a game of adults vs kids that could not have been a better fit for our competitive crew. The Colosseum kids tour was amazing! Our kids age 6 and 8 were engaged the whole time! They learned so much the Romans and gladiators that until now, they still rave about the experience. Mariaclaudia tours is highly recommended! We will book with them again next time.

We did a tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum with Mariaclaudia tours, and it was the best tour we did in our two weeks in Italy and Greece. While we didn't get to have Mariaclaudia as our tour guide, Veronica was excellent and so engaging. We had a group of 17 (8 kids/teens and 9 adults including a 70+ year old), and we all had a blast. She somehow kept everyone's attention, and the all the kids said this was their favorite tour of the trip (and we took several). If you have the opportunity to tour with Mariaclaudia and her team, go for it. Make sure to book early because we had wanted to add another tour with them (of the Vatican) but she had no more availability.

A great tour for the kids - Alessandra made it a lot of fun and all the kids in the tour (3 kids around 6 years old and one kid a few years older) were very engaged, asking and answering questions to earn points to win against the adults!)

Mariaclaudia tours were the best tours we did on our trip. We booked the Colosseum with the Arena floor and the Roman Forum tour in Rome and the Florence with Accademia Tour through Maria and met her colleague Giulia when we arrived in Florence. I wanted a tour that the kids would learn from and remember and not be bored standing in a big group of adults, so based on reviews I booked Mariaclaudia tours. Both tours were fantastic. My girls 7 and 8 years old learnt so much and could tell people about what they learned. Maria and Giulia made the tours a lot of fun and very engaging for both the kids and the adults. We would definitely book MariaClaudia tours again when we go back. It's a unique and memorable tour and a very clever way to teach history.

We booked a 1.5-hour Colosseum walking tour with Mariaclaudia, and it was one of the highlights of our time in Rome! From the very beginning, communication was excellent. Booking by email was seamless, and we received clear instructions about the meeting location, time, and what to expect. We booked a tour for 2 families last June 2025 (7 people total), and it was so memorable that even all these months later I wanted to be sure to come back and leave a positive review! I was very hesitant to take four kids 10 & under to the Colosseum in late June, but Simona blew us away. She did an amazing job engaging the kids -- and adults -- in fun ways and made the entire visit not only bearable but truly enjoyable. Communication, booking, payment, and meet-up was all very clear and seamless, too. Absolutely worth the money for the ease and richness of the entire experience. WOW! We are a group of 7 (two families) that has traveled abroad together a couple of times, and we have teens/preteens. As such, I tend to hesitate to book tours that might be geared towards younger kids. That being said, MariaClaudia’s Colosseum tour was absolutely perfect for ALL ages. Easily the best the seven of us have taken, and we have been raving about it for days. MariaClaudia is very engaging and knowledgeable. She paced the tour so well, and kept everyone laughing and smiling throughout despite crowds and pretty intense heat. We enjoyed that it felt like a competition between adults and kids to answer and ask questions, and so many interesting facts were shared. Highly, highly recommend. This tour is worth every penny (and also reasonably priced!)

We were highly recommended Maruaclaudia Tour from a friend in New zealand. Our guide was Simona and she was so friendly and knowledgeable and great with our kids. Our kids are 14 and 15, we didn't end up having any more in our group so was just our family. It didn't take long to get into the Colluseum and being April the crowds weren't huge but still alot of people when trying to get a photo. We really enjoyed the tour but I would say its aimed more towards younger kids, probably 12 and under. Great communication from Mariaclaudia when booking and I would highly recommend this for young families.

We were very happy with this tour. Found it through a deep online search which took me to Mama Loves Italy and funny enough, ended up on a tour with another family from our town. Our tour guide was great - we were with her again the next day for the Vatican Tour. A really great tour for our 8 year old daughter and family.
