Luigi was such an interesting guy and he really made our tour. I am so pleased we did the Underground, it was fascinating. Highly recommended tour.

You step onto the arena floor — one of the most exclusive areas of the Colosseum, accessible only to a small percentage of visitors. From here, the full scale of the amphitheater reveals itself before your eyes. The tour continues to the first and second tiers, offering a sweeping view over the arena and a deeper understanding of how this extraordinary monument was built and experienced by the Romans who filled it.
From the Colosseum, you make your way into the Roman Forum — the ancient heart of Rome's political and civic life. Walking among temples, basilicas, and triumphal arches, your guide traces the story of the Empire at its height, turning ruins into a vivid and memorable journey through history.

Our English guide was wonderful. Having the headsets really aided and being able to hear her. She was very knowledgeable. A fast paced tour with a lot of steps.
Great tour. Informative and friendly guide
Really amazing tour, our guide Valeria was so knowledgeable and had lots of details and stories to share throughout the tour. She was able to answer questions and gave us such a rich history of the sites. I really debated on doing a tour and which one, but am glad I did. I think there is tremendous value in doing this small group tour, it felt more intimate and personal. It was absolutely worth it for me in the end, despite the higher price tag.
It was an experience I’ll never forget. The images I saw and the things I learned will be etched in my mind until I am gone. It always helps to have a good tour guide and we had the best (Marina). She was as exceptional with her personality and her knowledge. I could listen to her talk all day. Her captivating blue eyes did t hurt either. She is the best. Ian
This tour was fantastic. Irene (Eyes of Rome) was so passionate about the history and in providing the information to us. This was one of my favorite tours I've ever done. I'm so glad we booked this tour. It was much better than doing it on our own. I learned so much about Rome and the history of the location. It was fantastic! Well done!
It ended up only being me and my wife and we thoroughly enjoyed Valerias knowledge on the tour. 5 stars
It was a lot of fun and our tour guide, Silvia, was very knowledgeable. The meeting point was easy to find. Our guide always checked to make sure everyone in our group stayed together. I would highly recommend using CityEyes as tour guides for the Colosseum and Roman Forum.
Great experience, there ended up only being 4 of us on this tour. Our guide was great, we could hear her well and she went out of her way to try to provide info and sights I hadn’t seen since I had visited before. Highly recommend
The Forum and Colosseum tour was great! Having skip the line access to the colosseum was very nice. The guide did a nice job explaining the history as well as what we were looking at in the forum and colosseum. Going down to the floor of the colosseum and then to the upper level gave great views and perspective. Our guide was friendly, engaging, interesting, and knowledgeable!
The small group tour is the way to go. Much more intimate and able to ask more questions throughout the tour. You see larger groups around so this felt like a much more private tour. Michaela was amazing and so knowledgeable.
Sariki our tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. We learned so much about the history behind the Forum.
My husband and I had a great experience. Our tour guide, Valeria, was very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour.
Alessandro was a wonderful guide, an archaeologist with encyclopedic knowledge of the sites and of Roman history. He was funny and engaging, kind and efficient with our time (and with our time spent in the sun). Highly recommend!
Changes were made to our tour but the Viator app didn’t apply those changes to our ticket that you have to download. The tour operator messaged us asking where we were but we were looking at a different time and meeting spot on our ticket and were late. Either way we lost the opportunity to visit the Colosseum after months of planning. Initially, it was reserved as the Colosseum Underground tour, but the tour provider messaged us a few months later saying there were no tickets available, even though it was reserved. The Viator representative did absolutely nothing to help us. I asked her to put us on another tour or give us back our money. None of that happened. If a tour company changes anything about your reservation or booking and you book it through Viator make sure the information from the tour company and Viator match. I still have an unused, 9:45 AM Colosseum underground ticket in my app. The tour company refused to reimburse me. On a positive note, everything else we have booked through Viator has been good. Just don’t call Customer Service for help.
Our travel guide (cannot remember her name exactly, Gio or Dio) was wonderful. She made the experience a top notch tour. She was informative, had a wonderful personality, and made sure that we had a good time as well as an educational time. I’m a believer in that the tour guide makes the tour and I would recommend this tour with Eyes of Rome to anyone who asks because of ours!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for Maria! She was such a great guide on this tour. My husband is a huge history buff, and we both really appreciated all of the thorough information we got during our tour through the Roman Forum & Colosseum. She always tried to make sure we were in the shade, if possible, or that we’d be positioned for the best photo spots. Additionally, I was thankful that we didn’t have a large group. Highly recommend this tour.
Eleanora was a fabulous guide. Touring with a small group (ours was 6-8 people) made it intimate… she was so informative, knowledgeable and also great fun! Highly recommend!!
We had an incredible experience because of Emanuel ‘Manny’. He was the best tour guide we have had on our trip! He made us feel like we were going back in time during the tour. He was incredibly knowledgeable of the history, and we enjoyed his personality very much! Regards. Danielle & Zach
We toured the coliseum and arena and the forum. Wow is all we can say. Our tour guide was amazing. So informative. We would highly recommend this tour
Very informative really good but strenuous as far as walking uneven and upstairs but other than that our guide was super informative very knowledgeable her name was Maria.
Luigi the guide was very knowledgeable, and provided information with humor and enthusiasm. It was really hot though, but that wasn’t Luigi’s fault. :-)
Tour guide was great, very knowledgeable and thorough and open to questions. He’s was clear and easy to understand.
Although the heat was unbearable, our guide Anna gave our small group of 4 a good rhythm with walking and resting under a shade while she explained. It made all the difference! And we were able to enjoy the sites and her explanation.
This tour is a perfect way to learn about the centuries of history in the Forum and the Colosseum. The meeting point was easy to find. Best of all, our guide Alessandro, was an archeologist and helped bring the history of the two landmarks to life. Definitely recommend this tour to see these two Roman icons.
Luigi was an excellent tour guide. His knowledge and excitement for the history made it so enjoyable. It was a great time!
A truly remarkable tour. Our guide Rosalba was highly knowledgeable and made sure our group member with physical restrictions was accommodated when needed. She was so informative that we rarely even needed to ask questions! I highly recommend this tour.
Emanuele was an amazing guide, he was great with our 10-year-olds and 6-year-old and really made the history of Rome come to life. Would definitely recommend this tour for a great overview of the Roman Forum and Colosseum.
My husband and I booked this kind of last-minute as an opportunity to leave our kids with grandparents to do our own thing. We appreciated the different options and ultimately picked the semi-private tour. We loved it and Luigi is so knowledgeable, his enthusiasm for his job was so apparent.
I highly recommend this tour. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and really brought the history to life. Exploring the Colosseum and Roman Forum in a small group made a huge difference because it felt so much more personalized.
Guide Lugi was very good and had a passion on what he was talking about. Maybe less time overall, but was very good.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and we were impressed. We also appreciated that when we stopped to learn about what we were looking at, we stopped in the shade and not in the sun.
We had a wonderful time today on our guided tour of the Roman Forum and Colosseum. Lina was our guide and she was fantastic. She expertly explained all of the sites and provided a ton of historical background. We definitely recommend taking this tour.
Luigi was the best! Having a small group with an actual archeologist is the greatest way to go!! Grazie!
Semi private tour with Serena was excellent. She was so knowledgeable and had great illustrations to help us compare the current and past structures. She gave us so much history and so many details to look for that we would have missed without such an experienced guide. She did her best to keep us out of the heat by speaking with us in the shade and then giving us as much time as we needed to observe the sites. She happily answered all our questions.
Michaela was great. The messages I was sent from vital had the wrong meet up site. Because of incorrect address I was sent several times via text and email, we could not find our group which cause unneeded stress. The guide called and gave correct meeting spot, waited for us and all was good. I would have give five stars except for this. Our guide Michela was great and would highly recommend her but question the apps information
Michela was fantastic! We started in the forum before heading over to the colosseum. We got so much information during our tour and got to see everything on our must see list for this tour. My kids were able to participate and enjoy the experience as well.
Our guide was very knowledgable about both the region and it's history. He was also very personable, making the whole thing more like a conversation. We also had a rare treat of getting a private tour since the rest of the group we were assigned to had cancelled. There was one wrinkle in the whole thing. We'd originally signed up for an underground tour but were later contacted when the tour company couldn't secure the underground tickets. By then it was too late for us to go with a different company. Fortunately, they refunded the extra cost for the different tour type, but we still lost out on that experience.
This was truly a small group tour- only 6 of us. The guide was an experienced archeologist and his expertise and knowledge of all things in the area was impressive.
Our guide was incredibly personable and definitely knew which direction to guide and which entrance to use, but I don’t think her historical knowledge stacked up. I’ll say that she definitely had some interesting small stories but there wasn’t a good explanation of the overarching history of the sites. Was she helpful? Absolutely. I was just expecting a little bit more history-telling for the price paid. It was also incredibly hot and I was a single traveler placed with a group of five traveling together (that’s not a problem — I’m just saying she may have been trying to gauge their interest). I’ll end by saying that I definitely had a much more pleasurable experience by using this tour; I just don’t know if the price reflects the actual value.
We just completed our fully custom “Rome in a Day” organized by City Eyes. They picked us up at the port in two vans, as we were 9 people and whisked us on our way to Rome. The goal was to try to get to all the main sites as we were only here for a day on a cruise stop. Our driver Tiziano and Tour Guide Gianluca navigated the city with ease. We were able to visit the Basilica Square, Colosseum(inside access), Trevi Fountain(ticketed access), Spanish Steps, Pantheon Square, Piazza Navona, and Aventine Hill(Garden). We also had time for a stop for lunch at a great Pizza Bakery and Gelato later. A lot to do in a day, but we got it all done thanks to City Eyes, Tiziano and Gianluca. This also worked out great because we were two families with 5 kids 12 and under. The only way you can survive with children. I would encourage anyone trying to navigate Rome in a day to hire a guide and City Eyes helped get that done for us. Friendly people. Knowledgeable guides. Don’t pass up a chance to see one of the great ancient cities in the world.
Lena was very informative and patient. We had six people in our group and it was amazing. The Forum was the highlight for us. We really appreciated her knowledge and comparisons of before and after. Highly recommended.
Mirta was the best! This was actually my third time doing a tour of the Colosseum (I keep taking different friends lol) and it was the best one. The Forum tour was especially good as she gave us so much info other tours didn’t. Even though we were in the middle of a heat wave, she made sure to keep us as cool and comfortable as possible. Very funny and informative, and having a small group was perfect. Definitely book with this company as they are actually authorized tour guides with the Colosseum and can go with you inside!
Valeria was a very informative guide, extremely knowledgeable and made the tour very interesting. Without her everything would not have meant half as much. The whole tour ran on time and it was easy to find the meeting place. Comfort breaks were offered. Great value for trip.
Great experience. Alex, our guide, was awesome. He is very knowledgeable, accommodating, helpful, and fun. Being that we were a small group tour with a large age range made it a much more personal experience.
This was a truly amazing experience. Our tour guide, Maurizio was very knowledgable and went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. His command of the topic of was very clear to see and answered every single question we all had. Given our group all moved through the tour at a reasonable pace he was able to show us an extensive look on the Palatine Hill. We would certainly love to come back to Rome and ask for Maurizio by name - this is a truly great professional!
As busy as it was, our guide Valentina was great! She maneuvered us through the crowds and kept us on time without feeling rushed. Her knowledge was amazing, and it was easy to follow along. We couldn’t be more pleased with the company and their communication along with the guide. I would give them six stars if I could.!
We had a wonderful time on this tour and learned a lot of history! Our tour guide, Valentina, was a gem and full of knowledge. Would definitely recommend! Bring a water bottle when traveling in the summer, there are many clean, cold public fountains to refill from.
Great time! Marina was our guide and she was absolutely fantastic. My wife and I enjoyed hearing about all the history and Marina really knows her stuff and is very personable. If you’re looking for a tour look no further.
Bring an umbrella, fan, water bottle, & sunscreen if you go in the summer because it’s hella hot. Our tour guide was alright. She did wait a little while for us as we were in the wrong line. Also, make sure to bring an ID.
