Had a fantastic visit to the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. Our Dutch guide did excellently.
Great experience. Punctual on appointment. The guide was very well informed about all facets of the Roman era. Bring it to life with humor. Also very attractive for older children. We enjoyed ourselves and secretly gained knowledge about cattle!
Very nice and very educational, and afterwards a cool local bar as a tip
Despite the circumstances of a trachea accident in the Colosseum, for whom a lot of strength to family and friends colleagues... and we couldn't have them inside, they did their utmost to show and explain all the explanations from the outside, for thick mercy 🤛
With a guide in Rome is a very good choice. Friendly guide and much told. Sometimes it was a bit less audible, but it could also be down to me.
Nice interesting tour; guide was very enthusiastic and children could ask plenty of questions
Very well explained tour, Monique was our guide both on the vatican tour and the collosseum tour. She explained everything clearly, took her time and was actually very funny. Captivated listened despite the heat Was very clear that she has a passion for all things history
Booked through Wouter and everything arranged to perfection. The tour itself was very interesting and very well explained by our guide (EVI). She took time to explain everything clearly the walk itself was at a leisurely pace. We did not have to queue anywhere nor in the Forum of Colosseum everything was well arranged. A very nice and fun experience...
We got a very enthusiastic guide for our group. We enjoyed the fun facts and the blissful weather of course 😍 It was a smooth organization where you received confirmation the day before. That's comforting too;)
A very pleasant guide who sucked you back in time. This made the Forum the highlight of my Rome trip for me.
Very good guide. Knows a lot to tell and it is nice in Dutch. You'll get more if it's in English.
Celine was our tour guide and she was really nice. Very educational and they also answer all questions very well. I personally wanted to take a lot of pictures and there was plenty of room for this.
Super arranged. Well received at the reception point plus a very nice guide. (Irene?). We got an earpiece in so we could follow everything. The guide knew a lot to tell. Our group also included some elementary school children. She was also able to explain it at their level without making it bothersome for the adults in the group. Nice woman. The administrative side of the excursion was also well arranged.
Really a nice educational experience. Everything went extremely smoothly. The guide was top notch. She told well, knew the beautiful and shady spots and had an eye for the whole group. Also for the children who were with us. Even our 5-year-old son who was sick, but if gladiator did join the tour is still totally excited about that the guide who called him the gladiator. It's in the little things. Definitely value for money!
Had a great experience! Guide Monique guided us through the various highlights at the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill before arriving at the Colosseum. Not too much and not too little information. Just a joke once in a while. Skip the line was very nice! Our daughter of 9 also enjoyed!
Guide Evi brought ancient Rome to life on a three-hour tour that didn’t bore for a minute and was over before we knew it. She expertly guided us through the hustle and bustle - and there was on that sunny Wednesday in March - of the forum, the Palatine Hill and the Colloseum, sharing facts, facts and jokes. It's also handy that we could listen to them in our ears. My wife and our daughter - also an Evi by the way - who were a little skeptical about the usefulness of this 'guidance' beforehand, were furious enough afterwards to call it perhaps the highlight of our Rome trip. An absolute must, so much is clear
We had a wonderful and very educational tour with Monique. She was able to share a lot of interesting background information that allowed us to get to know the Colosseum well. It was a nice, well organized tour that we really enjoyed. In addition, we also did a tour of the Vatican with Frank. That was also a great experience. He told beautiful stories and knew all about history. As a nice ending he even played on his harmonica. All in all a fantastic experience. Definitely recommended!
Gidse Monique took us past the Roman Forum, up the Palatine Hill and of course into the Colosseum. Especially at the Roman Forum, a guide is indispensable, otherwise you cannot imagine the huge forums that have been built. Monique also brought a booklet that depicted what it might have looked like in the past. Then everything really comes alive. On the Palatine Hill you had a beautiful view of Rome with recognizable points. Monique has lived in Rome for years so knows exactly what is and is not recommended. To conclude, the Colosseum, strategically as a last stop because then it is also a bit quieter. Here too, Monique really brings the building to life, what it looked like in its completeness and how unimaginable it must have been at the time. A tip for after the visit: at the Metro station they also have some statues in front of the gates and a before/after presentation of the forums. After Monique's explanation, you could see exactly which forum was which and what the Colosseum with the statues would have looked like. I had already been to Rome twice but never to the Forum or the Colosseum, it really gives an added value to the already beautiful city.
Guide Monique guided us through the area. Due to a typo in the name on the ticket, there was uncertainty whether we would be able to enter the Colosseum. So that was exciting, but Monique arranged that well at the entrance. To do so, visit the Forum. In itself very interesting but perhaps a little too rushed because we had to get to the Colosseum in time because of the tickets on hour. The guide himself can't help but we had the feeling that there was a lot more to tell. Everything that was told was very interesting. The earpieces didn't work very well but it could get through. Definitely recommended if you are in Rome!
Although it was very busy we had a nice tour Very impressed by the history and the pomp and circumstance we were all served The guide we could hardly hear Little voice, little dialect and that together with the crowds was not ideal. Furthermore, the guide was very enthusiastic Although the guide of mine could tell it a bit more exciting but I personally find that Well enjoyed and a more than sufficient for that!
The tour is much more than just "visiting the Colosseum". There is a storyline that is told about history of Rome (and of course the Colosseum) without getting boring. Plenty of time is taken to enjoy the sights, to ask questions. Both tours (Colosseum and Vatican) are highly recommended; personally I experienced the "Colosseum, Forum & Palatine" as the most pleasant. Maybe not the cheapest provider, but definitely worth the (small) extra cost to experience the tour in Dutch in a personal and cordial Mood. Only minor minus (as a Tinitus/ringing in the ears patient): the quality of the ears on the Colosseum tour.
Pleasant communication. Nice reception. Nice bikes. Guide knew a lot. Personal presentation. You really get to know Rome on a tour like that. It was the highlight of our Rome week!
A beautiful, but especially pleasant tour with guide Monique. No years that fly around your ears, but visual stories with a touch of humor. We had a great afternoon!
Loes the guide had our attention from the first moment. Her knowledge and fascinating stories took us all the way to history. And a touch of humour! Fantastic and highly recommended!
We had so nice guide! She has lived in Italy for a long time and could tell so much about everything we saw. She used humor and didn't dwell too much on a spot. She also had a folder with pictures of certain places what it would have looked like in the past. This gave you a much more vivid picture.
We booked a private tour and it was really worth it! The explanation was very haunting, it was told so well that we have a lot of it oh getting married.
Recommended to book excursions with ‘Guide in Rome’! Everything is top arranged! Under Loes’ inspiring direction, he visited the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill. Although she has been doing it for many years, she still tells history passionately and with humor. Had a great day!!
Guide in Rome by Wouter Vercruysse we can only recommend !! Easy to book online - very good communication via email & whatsapp. We had 3 guides for our different tours, each with their own experience and inspiring stories! They're tops.
Our Guide (Irene) knew a lot to tell and was also very friendly. She involved our children during the tour and made real contact. She also discussed with us what a nice route through the Roman Forum would be and was open for input. The pace was good and she thought carefully about shade spots (to explain) and water stopping points (to fill your bottle). It was 37 degrees during our visit so we were glad we had gone in the morning. We were still in the stress at the beginning to get to the meeting point on time (my husband was even late because of finding a parking space) but she took it smoothly. She has been waiting for my husband (despite the fact that it says at the Reservation that if you are late, they leave because of the time slot). So take enough time to come to the meeting point, so you are not already in the stress beforehand. Definitely recommended to hear this tour in your own language, then you will get more of it. It is a bit of an expense, especially if you are with a family, but hey, we are in a metropolis eh;) personally I would make the costs for children a bit lower although I also understand that with tickets you are bound to entrance prices.
This was a top experience. Everything went as agreed. Clear agreements and a top guide (Monique) A Dutch guide who always gave a good explanation in Dutch this was an added value for our 13-year-old daughter. The tour took about 3 hours but flies by. Guide in Rome is definitely recommended
Best, We would like to express our sincere thanks for organizing our fantastic excursions in Rome. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this beautiful city. The two guides who showed us around in Dutch were extremely impressive. They made us stand in admiration for hours at the most beautiful places in Italy. Their pleasant and friendly personalities, combined with vast expertise, made our trip truly unforgettable. Thank you very much for this wonderful experience and the excellent service. Yours sincerely, Ossieur & De Baene
Very interesting to get an idea of ancient Roman life. Despite the queues, everything went very smoothly. Recommended
Great Dutch guide who only guides occasionally. As a result, she spoke very passionately. Highly recommended. We would have liked to have looked around the colseum itself for a little longer. So maybe say goodbye in the coluseum instead of outside.
Professionally guided by a motivated Dutch-speaking guide, informative and pleasant. Loes was clear and shared a lot of information without it becoming too overwhelming. Tour in group, but thanks to the earphones and the attentive eye of the guide, this was not a problem and everyone could follow well. Definitely recommended to understand more of what you see and to be able to place everything better. Moreover, you don't have to worry about the queues yourself.
Irene was very pleasant and provided a lot of information. We walked quietly past all the sights. The Roman Forum, the Palatine Hill with beautiful views and the Colosseum were all very fascinating. It was amazing.
The organization was great. Working with earphones so that you can hear the guide well even from a distance. It is necessary in very busy times. Communication with the organizer before the trip also went very smoothly. The guide was clearly experienced verbally and provided information about the Colosseum smoothly and knowledgeably during the 3-hour tour. Moreover, in our native language, which is of course an added value.
Very nice tour. Beautifully told! Loes was fantastic. We did a similar tour about ten years ago. But it couldn't match what Loes showed us.
We did the tour with Loes, a nice woman, the tour was okay, clear but perhaps too long at times. Perhaps in need of rejuvenation.
Activity was cancelled at the last minute while we were already on the road/present my wife, myself and our son (with autism) are very disappointed
We are very disappointed in Wouter's office. We gave our son a city break Rome gift because of his passed exam. Visiting the Colosseum was his greatest wish. Prior to that, it was already very difficult to get in touch with Wouter’s office from the Netherlands. After a dozen calls and emails, our tour for 3 people was confirmed. On the appointed day, well in time we were waiting there. Now you should know that our son was born with a brain haemorrhage and that this brings considerable limitations. The tension increased too much and after more than half an hour we accidentally found out that by mail 1 hour before the start of the tour it had been cancelled, for no reason. How?!?!?! We cannot comprehend that Wouter treats his customers like this. You can't imagine how great the grief and disappointment was for our son. Our trust in Wouter's office is so betrayed. The wound is still fresh and it left a huge mark on the day. So be warned that this is how Wouter treats customers!
Interesting. Frank knows a lot and tells in an entertaining and humorous way. Stopped at the right times. As an example, the Pope's impressive reception gallery of guests. When you walk down the stairs you can't see it. If you gathered halfway at the point indicated by Frank you could see the grandeur over your shoulder.
The Dutch guided tour Roman Forum and Coliseum followed and can only recommend it. You'll learn so much more about the place than visiting it without a guide. The guide was super enthusiastic and knew a lot about the Forum and Colosseum.
The tour taught me a lot of news, I was also already aware of a lot. And the guiding went very smoothly, partly because of the use of a hearing aid that you get so that you always hear the guide well.
The Colosseum Tour with Guide in Rome, the team of Wouter Vercruysse, is an absolute added value for your visit to Rome, just like their Vatican tour. You will get a lot of explanations in your own national language at a correct price.
Together with my daughter of 19 years Rome visited the end of April and booked everything in advance with Guide in Rome with a Dutch speaking guide so we would get everything with us. Can recommend it wholeheartedly especially the bike ride on our 1st day we found super very much seen and been to places we would not otherwise go Thank you!
Very nice experience. Our guide, Loes, could tell very fascinating stories. Not only about what we saw but also how it used to be and interesting facts and ... Definitely recommended
Beautiful and interesting tour with a guide who could explain and explain everything in a fascinating and entertaining way.
We just want to let you know that we had a wonderful tour. Mario was our guide and he did such a great job. It was extremely interesting. Marcio is an incredibly engaging guide who can tell very vividly, with the necessary humor. We'd like to thank him for the great afternoon. On a next visit to Rome we will certainly call on Wouter's services again.
Both the organization and the guide were top notch. The quote went in smoothly and they were very reactive and flexible when we had problems with Mario's airline tour
