The colosseum itself is an ancient and historic marvel. It’s so amazing to see in person and worth seeing once. Unfortunately our tour guide wasn’t great. She wasn’t very captivating or engaging and seemed like she didn’t want to be there. The colosseum is insanely busy with multiple tours at once. So it is a very touristy activity if you are looking to avoid, I wouldn’t recommend. Unfortunately, our tour guides English and vocabulary was a bit limited too so the same phrases were repeated and it was really hard to stay interested and pay attention. It didn’t help that it was insanely hot with a humidity of 89%, if you don’t fare well in extreme heat or humidity I’d also strongly reconsider doing the tour. This could be a really cool, interesting tour and learning experience if the guide is more engaging, captivating and passionate.

Could not find meeting place. No taxi driver knew where it was and it was not the same address and name as on the booking. I walked all over looking. For over an hour Disappointing for sure. My luck with Viator is about 50/50. I won’t book again
We purchased our tickets online a few days before the tour. We arrived at 9:55 to the location according to GPS. There was absolutely no tour group waiting, no restaurant to meet the guide, no white flag. We were in the exact right place according to the directions but were never able to find the group. Another couple arrived too with the same instructions. The 4 of us looked everywhere to find the group over the next 30 minutes. We spent over $100 for the tour we were never able to take. Customer service with Viator was unhelpful, telling us that we should have called within 10 minutes of not finding the group. It was an incredibly disappointing experience. I'm still not convinced there ever was a tour...it seemed like a scam.
Going up a hill my wife got dizzy and almost fainted We stopped for her to rest Guide got very rude and said that we needed to continue Explained to her that she needed to cool down Said she couldn’t continue unless we turned in our head sets and left the group. We gave her the sets and said we would continue on our own. She became even more upset I explained I did it want to continue the conversation and for her take her group on. She then started telling various location we could meet Explained that we didn’t want to work with due to Her attitude and for her to continue with her group
The tour of the colosseum was very basic. I had hoped for the cost it would have included more. The meeting location was at a closed restaurant . A specific address would have been helpful in giving directions to the taxi. It was overall good.
We absolutely recommend taking this guided tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable and made the excursion enjoyable. We went on a very hot day but our guide kept us all engaged and kept us moving along the way while we learned so much. Worth having a tour to see this historic sight.
Exceptional! Excellent tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. She added so much to the experience.
1-Not worth the prize for a small group. It wasn’t small. 2- Tour guide didn’t speak enough English. It was a lot of work trying to figure out what she was saying. 3- Tour was rushed and she was walking so fast that a lot of people could not keep up.
The short range radio usage was really useful. It allowed you to wander a bit and still stay connected to the group. Our guide had great visual aids too.
Appreciate the amount of time to seeing these historic sites. We did get lost from the tour guide a couple of times due to the rapid pace of the tour. Thought the tour guide should have allowed us to take the elevator on the way back. We weren't told either about needing our Passports to enter twice . All in all, it was a good tour and would let others know about this
Once we realized the tour was going to start with the Forum and Palatine , due to my restrictions of being on a cane, prevented me from going up and down uneven surfaces, we were not allowed to meet up with them for the coliseum part of the tour. Therefore we lost our money as there was no refund allowed. The woman in charge was very pleasant. The tour guide was as helpful as he could be but their hands were tied.
Our guide was amazing and was a wealth of information! He would share with us pictures of what things used to look like. He was so knowledgeable. We had a hard time finding the meeting point and messaged them and they were able to wait 2 extra minutes for us. So grateful
The tour guide was amazing, she had a background in archeology and was overall a very nice and fun person. Though it may be a good idea to read up on some important people before the tour because she didn’t go in depth about who those people were.
On the morning of the tour I received a text to say the tour was delayed and we would now be meeting 40 minutes later than planned. We were already on our way to the meeting point so stopped for a coffee. As we had another activity booked in the afternoon we had to rush off at the end of the tour. The tour itself was very informative and interesting.
This was a comprehensive tour of ancient Roman sites but it wasn't really a skip the line tour as we waited in the Colosseum line for about 30 minutes (maybe there should be a note that there will still be some waiting?). Also, there needs to be time worked into the tour to be able to stop and take photos or just take in the site for a minute or two as we moved on very quickly from each spot. But on the whole it was alright!
Guide was amazing and friendly, she told us some very interesting facts. Very pleasant and the skip the line was a blessing. Would definitely recommend.
Easy access tour and very informative. Guide was very knowledgeable about the colosseum and would highly recommend.
