It was awesome! We saw Rome on our own terms at our own pace. Our tour guide, Stephano, was considerate, accommodating and knowledgeable.

Alex was a fantastic driver - he far exceeded our expectations. From meeting us just off the cruise ship, to smooth and professional driving, to adjusting our itinerary on the fly, he made our day in Rome exceptional. He communicated clearly and efficiently, gave excellent suggestions on places to see, and managed to drive us closer to places than we thought possible. Alex was the most professional and kind driver. He met us early at the port and navigated smoothly through all the traffic. We had the best experience A+++ our driver Alex Paolini was very knowledgeable, professional, friendly and since he grew up in Rome he knew the city very well. Maneuvering through the narrow streets was impressive. I highly recommend this tour and Alex. He makes sure you hit every major spot and gives you as much time as you need at each spot. He even got us tickets to the Trevi Fountain! We came off of our week cruise from Barcelona at 8 am and took the time to see Rome before getting dropped off at our hotel since check in is at 4pm. Alex Paolini was excellent he was very knowledgeable. We had a great time in Rome. The Trevi fountain was very crowded but worth a look. He was able to customize the tour to our needs. Don’t be afraid to make a request. The price was reasonable for the 6 of us. It started at around 7:30am and ended around 3:30. Alex picked us up right outside of the ship and dropped us in the same place.

Alex paolini was our driver He took us to Rome. He showed us the Colosseum a Fountain and some stairs that were Spanish was an excellent driver very good personality took us to a nice restaurant. Probably one of the best tours we have ever been on. Alex Paolini was our guide and he was phenomenal. He confirmed the night before, showed up early the day of and had a sign with our name which made it a breeze as we walked off the cruise ship. He was full of knowledge and accommodating throughout the entire trip. He took us to everywhere we wanted to go and also went out of his way to make sure we had tickets to the Trevi Fountain. Not only did he suggest a great place for lunch but he also made sure we had reservations. Stress free day in Rome (I cannot imagine doing it any other way), I would highly recommend this tour!

We booked a private day tour with Alex Paolini in Rome and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Alex took us everywhere on our list and never once made us feel rushed. He’s incredibly personable — within an hour it felt like we were traveling with a friend rather than a guide. His knowledge is outrageous. No matter what we asked, history, architecture, local customs, food, he had a real answer, and usually a good story to go with it. He also knows every back road, so while other groups sat in traffic, we were already at the next stop. Lunch was a standout. He’d made reservations ahead of time at a fantastic local spot, and we walked straight into a packed restaurant with no wait. Authentic food, excellent service, exactly the kind of place you’d never find on your own. Alex made us feel right at home in Italy. If you’re considering a private tour, book him.

This was fantastic! Our driver, Alex Paolini, couldn’t have been better. He texted us the night before to greet us and then again the morning of our tour. He sent us detailed instructions on where to find him when we got off of the ship. He stopped on the way to Rome to let us use the restroom and then continued our journey. He took us to the Vatican (where we got to see the Pope!!), the Trevor Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and the Colosseum. He answered all of our questions along the way, gave us fun facts, and even taught us some Italian slang. We couldn’t find the last pickup point (despite him sending us coordinates - we are all directionally challenged), so I sent him our location and within 2 minutes he picked us up. We would definitely use Alex again, no question!

Perfect day in Rome. Our driver Paolo was fun, friendly, informative, and professional. We gave him our priorities of where to visit, and he managed it flawlessly. Kept the pace one that was enjoyable and didn’t feel rushed. Even threw in some hidden gems that were off the tourist maps. Couldn’t have asked for a better taste of Rome.

We had a very good day visiting Rome from the cruise port of Cividavecchia.The driver Paolo was waiting off the cruise gangway when we walked out, following our names on the sign he held. No need for shuttle bus. We started the day being chauffeured around in a large Mercedes minivan with all the expected comforts. The AC was in full blast to counter the early morning heat in late August weather. Paolo explained all interesting local and historical tidbits when we’re on the way to Rome. Small van tour is the best way to visit Rome in a day. We didn’t have to walk too far at all. Paolo literally dropped us off right in front of the places we wanted to visit, and we were on our own way. We summoned him back with a text and he’s ready at the rendezvous point to pick us up to the next destinations. I’ve heard horror stories from others that they had to walk 30-40 minutes to a destination when taking a trip on large full-size bus, as large bus has to use designated parking spaces far from any destinations, 30-40 minutes walk one-way, not to mention the heat of the summer. Paolo took us to 9 places around Rome, which obviously we cannot do it ourselves without the intimate local knowledge to get around. The cost of a private tour is more than a shared large tour, but it was so worth it considering all the walking one has to do in a large shared tour. For us, it was a very well-spent trip. We would not hesitate to do it again. Not sure if you can ask for a particular driver, but Paolo is the one to get if possible. At the end of the day, Paolo dropped us off a few steps from the gangway, and we’re back to the cruise ship before 4:30PM, in time to hit the buffet for some afternoon snacks.

I spent the day with Beatrice who was the most wonderful driver and aficionado of all things Rome. She was friendly and kind as well. What a joy to have been so lucky to have her help me see all things Roma.

Booked a private day tour with Best Rome Driver as we were there as part of a cruise stop. TL;DR LOVED OUR TOUR AND OUR GUIDE, PLANNING TO BOOK WITH ANDREA AGAIN WHEN WE RETURN! The booking process was online, easy, and extremely customizable. We were able to make changes to the listed itinerary, in order to allow more time at certain stops, while cutting down at other places that were lower priority for us personally. For reference, my partner and I were able to secure Colosseum attic and underground/arena tickets independently, so we requested to allot more time there; the request was accepted, and the team also gave us details on realistic timeframes that would ensure we returned to the ship on time. Thank you Giulia! On the day of the tour, our guide and driver Andrea came to pick us up on-time and promptly; we were able to communicate through WhatsApp to coordinate the initial pick-up, as well as throughout the day during stops. We had time to cover all of our requested stops, and then some! Spontaneous add-ons included dropping in at a pastry shop to try maritozzo and coffee, as well as sightseeing at some of the spots we had originally cut out of the itinerary since we did not think we would have time. As for Andrea himself, we wanted to give a huge thank you for providing us with such a terrific experience, and making us feel like our time was too short and wishing we had more time in Rome. Andrea is highly knowledgeable about each of the stops, as well spots we passed by along the way. He also made casual conversation flow so easily throughout the day, making the experience even more comfortable for us. Thank you again Andrea, and see you next time!

Our group of 9 arranged for Best Rome Driver Tours to pick us up at our final cruise port (Civitacchia) for transport to Rome with our large amount of luggage and for a tour and then drop off at our Rome Hotel. We had two new vans with great air conditioning and Alex and Stefano were our tour guides. They were excellent at navigating the roads and getting us close to the sites. They were prompt and professional. I use a rollator and was in Alex’s van. He was very attentive to making sure I was able to get around and get in and out of the van. They even provided a wheelchair for my tour of the Vatican. At the last minute 4 of our group decided not to see the Vatican and so Alex and Stefano designed a tour for them so they could see other things in Rome during the time the others were in the Vatican. They even coordinated so that both groups could eat lunch together. Also, my sister and I took wheelchair accessible tour of the Vatican with Eleonora as our guide. She was wonderful too! Very informative and entertaining and she navigated the tour so well, making sure I got to see everything despite using a wheelchair. Overall, a great tour for a reasonable price.
