Our tour begins at the Vatican with the Basilica of St Peter built over the place where St Peter's body still lies. Once you have entered into St Peters, our expert Catholic guide will give you a tour of the interior of the Basilica including Michelangelo's Pietà, the relics and altars of the major saints of the Catholic Church and the history involved and of course the body of St Peter buried underneath the High Altar here.
The Basilica of St Paul outside the Walls is where the remains of the great Apostle of the Gentiles, St Paul, are to this day. Pilgrims will see the chains that bound St Paul during his incarceration and house arrest here in Rome before also viewing his newly excavated Sarcophagus before being given a tour of the rest of this ancient Theodosian Basilica.
Arch-Basilica of St John Lateran (San Giovanni) - the Cathedral of Rome. Here, you will again receive a detailed tour of the interior and its history including the story of the ancient mosaics, and stand before the heads of Saints Peter & Paul, brought into the Basilica and placed above the altar in the year 1300.
St Mary Major (Santa Maria Maggiore) - perhaps the oldest church dedicated to Mary in Rome, but certainly the most important - to once more marvel at it's golden interior and learn all about the fascinating features including the different popes buried here, the relics of the crib of the nativity of Christ, the miraculous icon of Salus Populi Romani and countless other stunning features.

We had no idea how difficult it would be to communicate with Roman Vacations and how unresponsive they were when we had concerns about the time for meeting for the 4 Basilicas tour. This was an important highlight to us and the biggest problem was the incorrect meeting time provided to us on the emailed confirmation form. What was provided to us via email was different from what their records provided. When we followed up with Roman Vacations, there was no open communication; according to them, we were the problem and they did not reimburse a cent of money for having missed the 4 Basilica tour. They were not truthful, which makes this company unethical and opportunistic to scamming tourists. I would NOT recommend using Roman Vacations to anyone who is thinking of traveling to Rome in the future. Beware! Do NOT employ this company!
Our tour guide Paul was amazing. Very knowledgeable of the Basilicas, Rome, the Jubilee and the Catholic Church. He encouraged questions and we had some great conversations. So much more than your typical tour that is just filled with text book facts

We did pilgrimage of the 4 Holy doors for Jubilee 2025. Paul was an OUTSTANDING tour guide. His knowledge was encyclopedic. We have raved to all our friends. If we return to room would Definitely seek out Paul as our guide.
We followed instructions to look for the guide with the orange flag in the meeting point but couldn’t find him. We had to call the operator to ask where/who the guide was. The guide was knowledgeable about art which was his focus during the tour. However we were expecting more information about the holy doors/jubilee given that we booked a holy door tour and the merchant even suggested booking the time slots for the jubilee pilgrimage. Also it was very tiring for our elderly companion given all the walking to and from the churches. As it we could have brought a wheelchair since the van could accommodate it.
Paul by far was the best person for this tour. From the historical information about the beginnings of the Vatican church to the religious explanations behind the smallest item within each basilica you could never appreciate, Paul inspired our spiritual enrichment with his time spent with us. If I could give 10 stars I would.
Paul has extensive knowledge about Catholicism and Roman Empire, and was able to share his knowledge in a way that is easily understood by laymen. I leave the tour recharged and fulfilled and cannot recommend him enough. He is also understanding and wait for us to take pictures, get souvenirs, etc.
The tour that Paul organized for us was a unique experience. Paul approached the tour from an academic perspective offering not just a historical perspective but also sharing philosophical/theological insights as well. His grasp of information was most impressive. The level of detail with which he discussed each site was beyond what we expected. Paul also made sure to be cognizant of our backgrounds and customized our tour agenda to focus on our interests and priorities. The agenda that Paul prepared for us made for a very unique cerebral and very enriching experience.
Paul is an extremely knowledgeable guide from both a historical and a religious point of view. The tour was titled Celebrate Ancient Jubilee in Rome in the 4 Papal Basilicas. I thought it had the words Holy Doors in the description because that is what we were seeking and this tour was right on target. It should also have had the word VIP in its title because the guide and the vehicle made us feel like VIPs.
If Paul is your guide you literally have an expert at your disposal. There was not a single question he was unable to answer immediately and with complete certainty. He knows everything from both perspectives, history and religion.
