Castel Sant’angelo Tour With Panoramic Views

A wonderful tour. Amazing history, a great site to experience and some of the best views of the city. Our guide, Charlie (City Wonders), was one of the best I’ve had on any tour. Highly recommend.

Interesting and a great way to get away from the crowds. They do accommodate with an elevator if you really need it. Tons of stairs and ramps. If you need the elevator ASK them.

We had a great experience touring Castel Sant’Angelo with our guide, Salvadore, through City Wonders. Salvadore was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging, and did a wonderful job explaining the history and stories behind the castle. It was an extremely hot day, and many of the rooms inside Castel Sant’Angelo don’t have air conditioning, which made the tour challenging at times. Despite the heat, Salvadore was patient and kept the tour interesting and enjoyable. He made the experience much more bearable and did a great job keeping everyone engaged and comfortable throughout.

Castel Sant Angelo is a can’t miss item! We had a great tour guide, Paula, and really enjoyed learning the history of the castle. The views from the top are spectacular! You can see the whole city all the way to the Colosseum, and then Saint Peter’s Basilica in the other direction.

I didn’t chose the guide option, which may have offered some further historical information about the castle. Either way, this is worth seeing.

Extremely engaging and Knowledgeable tour guide. I our questions were answered. Only down side was she waked for another person to join our group who didn’t show do we got a late start.

Having a the small group experience was great at this location. The tour guide was able to be heard, was a delight and full of great information. Though I wish I wrote her name down to be able to give her the credit she deserves. The site itself offers absolutely amazing views of the city. We had a minor miss cue as the app gave a different meet up location than TripAdvisor and the email confirms, but we were able to get it sorted.

We have used City Wonders to book tours on all of our 3 trips to Italy. They are always so organized and professional, and we have never had a bad experience with one of their guides. Silvia was our guide for Castel Sant’Angelo and it ended up just our family of 4 due to no one else booking the same time slot! She was so knowledgeable and engaging with my kids, especially my 10 year old who had a lot of questions. I will always recommend booking with City Wonders!!

This tour was an amazing hidden gem! The views from the top of Castel Sant Angelo were incredible! Sylvia, our tour guide was engaging and really made history come alive for us and for our teenage daughter! We would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to get a deeper understanding of ancient Roman history.

We booked the tour with city wonders and at the start I was a bit apprehensive about the duration, I didn't think it would be enough time... but I'm happy to report i was wrong, the guide was a living breathing encyclopedia, her knowledge was astounding. Covering even more than just the castle!! I brought my teenage daughter, who's attention span isnt the best, and even she never became bored! The best thing was that even though the tour was an hour, we were able to stay in the Castel at our leisure once it ended. Couldn't recommend the tour and city wonders enough, fantastic value for money!!

Perfect if you’re short on time. The tour was super easy to follow and the guide kept it moving, but we still got all the key history and stories. In just 1 hour you see the highlights, learn the main facts, and skip the overload. Great balance of quick + informative. Would recommend if you want the essentials without spending half a day.

It’s just a 2 hour tour and you can see without tour guide ,But you have the incredible history of this castle explained and it has Hundreds years of history. Our guide Agnes knew all of it and explained everything

Really great experience! I had already visited Castel Sant’Angelo, but this was the first time I did it as a guided tour, and honestly it’s really worth it. The guide taught me a lot and had plenty of interesting anecdotes that made the tour truly come alive. I highly recommend it!

The tour sounded really cool. Little did we know that you should have read the book or watched the movie. We had issues at every stop because of All Saints Day. Our poor guide was beside herself. She tried really hard to get is into everything otherwise she would show us pictures of what we missed. Any other day it would have been a 5 star

A must see for Amy fans of Angels and Demons (book or movie) walk through Italy as the story unfolds. Learn fact from fiction. See amazing sites of Rome in the comfort of a van. Our tour guide Rob made the story come to life as he portrayed the characters acting out events and having visual guides to help. It was like watching the movie, reading the book, but instead of seeing it in your mind or on the screen it is happening live right in front of you!

Even my daughter who has not read the book but has seen the movie thought it was one of the best tours we took during our stay in Rome. Our guide was well excited about highlights in the book as well as knowledgeable on historic sights within the area of our tour. The minivans were a bonus as most tours are walking tours.

Do not book this tour on a Sunday morning. We were not able to go into any of the churches because of Sunday services. What a high dissatisfaction since the point was to see the works of Bernini as part of the tour. Our tour guide, Inti, did his best to make a bad situation as good as possible. I feel we should get compensation from Viator for allowing a tour on Sunday morning that was unable to fulfill its promise of the very thing we signed up for!

This was a really fun tour. We visited all the main monuments in the book and the guide was very good and engaging. I would recommend this tour to any Angels and Demons fan.

Did this tour today (9th Sept) and it was excellent!! There were only four of us on the tour which made it feel extra special! My boyfriend and I are huge fans of the book/film and we loved the tour just as much!! Our guide was very knowledgable, enthusiastic, and even helped us with recommendations on where to get the best tiramisu! I’d recommend the Angels and Demons tour to anyone!! A great way to spend the day, see so many sights, learn, and it’s worth every penny!!

I went on the Angels and Demons tour in Rome and it was absolutely incredible. Our tour guide, Rob, was fantastic – unbelievably knowledgeable about both the facts and the fiction behind the book and film. He explained every site with so much depth, passion, and humour that it genuinely felt like stepping into the story itself. This is hands down the best tour I’ve ever been on. If you love the Angels and Demons book or film, Rob will certainly bring it alive for you. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Rome!

Great way to see some sights , a bit of history and how Dan Brown linked history with a compelling tale.

We were extremely disappointed with this tour and would not recommend to anyone. Definitely did not get the experience or value for money. No less than three film locations did we get to see. Wish we had done on our own and saved our money

Our angels and Demons tour experience was the worst tour we’ve ever taken… It was our tour operators/directors fault—they should’ve known that the new Pope was speaking so we could not go to the Vatican although she drove us there and we walked over 2.5 miles & did not get in the actual area where the tour was supposed to be. Also, it was a Sunday morning and we couldn’t get in the Santa Maria de Popolo church, & could not get to the San Angelo castle in time for our entry tickets, And finally, had to skip Plaza de Navona. The only place we got to was one church Santa Maria Vittoria. The hardest part of a “did not go to places the tour described”- —you waste precious little time that you’re in Rome and we were 6 hours on this tour not 3 1/2 as it was advertised. And tour was dropped midway in the middle nowhere with a tour guide, trying to get answers from the tour company about what to do next. After an hour of texting and waiting We finally just gave up. We were next to the last guests to leave the trip. Everyone else was gone. No entrance into Castel Sant’Angelo, and no snacks as offered, no access to 4 of 5 places on the tour. Finally, Viator offered to repay us $10 each for our lack of a tour when we had paid over $200 for the tour. We have taken several tours, but this will be the last one if we don’t get our money back.

We had a great morning gaining fascinating insights into the historical sites included in the book. We were lucky to be the only ones on the tour, so the experience was all the more unique. Our guide, Inti, was awesome! Besides his thorough knowledge of the ancient sites, he also brought the experience to life by adding some dramatic effect and humour. We’re really glad we did this tour and would recommend it to fans of the book and those interested in seeing some of the not so obvious sites too.

Being in Rome just days after the passing of the Pope made this Angels and Demons tour even more poignant. However, the highlight of the tour was our guide, Inta. He made this tour fun and informative. He weaved drama, history and his own unique brand of excitement to entertain us all.

Even if you didn't like the movie or book this is an excellent tour. Mauro, our guide, did an outstanding job describing and touring us through the churches, piazzas, St Peters Square and Castel Sant'Angelo. Part of the trip was on foot, a ride was provided between most stops. Excellent views of Rome from the castel top. We even stoped for Rome's most iconic pastry, (Maritozzi) it was delicious. Thanks Mauro for a great day!

Our guide was very knowledgeable, however, the stops were a bit disappointing. Santa Maria del Popolo, the first church, has been closed for almost a year and is still advertised as a stop on the itinerary. The Pantheon, confirmed in our booking, mysteriously disappeared from the itinerary. The other locations were terrific and our guide gave them adequate attention. As a fan of the book, Angels and Demons, visiting some of the locations gave me an appreciation of how Dan Brown put the story together.

Rob was a phenomenal tour guide. Balanced the details of the book well with the history of Rome. Highly recommend!

So disappointed! Our guide was unenthusiastic and most of the sites we were supposed to see (ie churches and fountains) were either closed or under construction and have been for some time. This should be made known before booking… we would never have booked at present if we had been told. Also the microphone on the bus was not working and so the guide gave no information at all when we were travelling between locations which he would have normally. Additionally, he gave us some incorrect information!! We feel like we have learnt nothing new at all from the tour, complete waste of time and money.

If you are hoping to see the sights described in the book Angels and Demons you will be disappointed. Two of the 5 are closed for renovations. If you go on a Wednesday you cannot go to St. Peter's Square because the Pope has audiences in the square. Be prepared for lots of stairs at the Castel. They do have an elevator, but that does not go to the terrace (viewing opportunity of the city). Our guide did not share there was an elevator so 4 members of my party left. Overall, very disappointing.

The *Angels and Demons* tour was an outstanding, immersive experience from start to finish. Theatrical in every sense, the tour brought the intrigue of the book to life with dramatic storytelling, engaging guides, and captivating stops at iconic locations. The blending of history, art, and suspense kept us enthralled throughout. It was well-paced, with plenty of opportunities to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the detailed narratives. The perfect balance of mystery and exploration made it a 5-star experience I would highly recommend!

This was a wonderful tour. Rob is an amazing tour guide. He's extremely knowledgeable about Roman history and Dan Brown's Langdon Series. He took us on a highly entertaining journey through Rome's sites retracing Langdon's steps through the book. The motorcoach ride with it's comfy seats and AC was a treat given the stifling heat in Rome in June. Bravo to CityWonders for a fantastic tour.

Excellent tour with an extremely knowledgeable guide. We saw several important sites in Rome and learned a great deal of the history in addition to details related to the book and movie. Well worth the time and cost.

Rob was unbelievable! He did such a wonderful job. He was entertaining and combined fact and fiction in such a meaningful way. If you have time and a fan of the book this is a must!

Perhaps the "excursion/trip", would have been better if the ANGELS AND DEMONS tour had been more accurately described as being based on Dan Brown's novel/film! If you are not familiar with it I would save your money and time!

The tour was really interesting - a combination of Rome history and stories from the book! Our tour guide, Rob, was PHENOMENAL - I can’t say enough about how amazing he was. He had a depth of knowledge about both the book and Rome to make the entire experience very worthwhile. Definitely encourage anyone whether you know much about the book to go on this tour!

A fabulous 4-hour tour delving into the Angels & Demons book balanced with history. Our guide, Rob, was fantastic at bringing the experience to life with just the right amount of humour and storytelling (and guide flag carrying! ;-) ) This is a great way to see the sights and also see the Castle. I was 70% interested in this book, and our tour guide Rob brought the story to life! He mixed the book's storyline with history of Roman culture, Italian language, and Italian history. Rob was engaged with every ember of the tour and prepared and enthusiastic for the tour. We were so impressed with his knowledge of the book vs the films vs the truth. We loved this tour so much, we booked another tour he told us he was guiding later that day. We are musicians who love history and would recommend this tour to all our family and friends.
