Capuchin Crypts Tour With Dark History Walk (Small Group)

You meet outside the crypt 10 mins before. Your guide takes you in and you get an audio guide and go round the museum and crypts . You meet your guide back outside after around an hour and they walk you round different sites in Rome telling you interesting stories about murderous things that happened in Rome. Our guide Alitia was very knowledgeable. Whole thing lasts around a hours. I don’t think you’ll see anything like the crypts anywhere else

Amazing time with Alethea our guide in a small group of 4 guests. Although guides are not allowed in the crypts anymore, Alethea absolutely picked right up after we left with some incredible stories about the history of Rome people aren't as aware of. She gave an excellent, unfiltered series of stories that made visiting these places feel so special.

We loved this tour! Our guide Arielle was very knowledgeable and friendly. The Capuchin Crypts were spectacular, followed by a walk around Rome highlighting some very interesting areas along the way that you would otherwise miss or other tours wouldn't mention. Plus we got a great restaurant recommendation for dinner at the end. Highly recommend!

Very interesting walking tour, learning unique vignettes about portions of Rome after seeing the Capuchin monks museum and crypts. Our guide was Ariel, who was a great storyteller and friendly guide. If you aren’t familiar with central Rome, the walking tour hit a few of the key highlights to give a general orientation of the city. Since we had to do the audio-guided tour of the museum and crypts, it might be worth doing that portion on your own, and separately book one of the group’s ghost/dark walking tours instead. More fun time with the guide and her storytelling that way!

Ben was a great tour guide. The stories he shared are not ones you would learn by walking around on your own or taking a traditional tour. The crypt was interesting and the tour to other landmarks was wonderful.

This was a great tour especially if you love the strange and crime. The crypts can be a bit scary but you get a lot of history and the mystery of the unknown. Alethea was my guide; she was professional, funny, kind and knowledgeable about the area, history and made the facts come alive. I would recommend this tour with her and rebook.

Awesome experience, first to visit the Capuchin's cript, that gives you an extrange sensation of calm but chills at the same time. Then, the guide let us to some places and told us some obscure historys about Rome, it was a great experience. Besides, the guide, Alethea, tells the stories in such a way that you could vizualize it at the moment.

Alethea was great, we really enjoyed her humorous spin on everything and her energetic personality. A little bummed she wasn't able to join us in the actual crypts but I felt like she adequately prepared us for the experience. It was also a great way to get a hang out navigating Rome.

This tour was great for lovers of the spooky and macabre side of things! The Capuchin Crypts were wild and unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Our guide (a lovely Canadian woman) was kind, professional, and so knowledgeable. After the Capuchin museum and crypts we strolled about hitting some not so known spots and learned about some dark historical moments that was very interesting!

First, I’m a solo traveler, and also the only one on this particular tour. I so appreciate that the tour went forward and my guide, Ariel, gave me the best attention, filled with facts as well as her own valuable personal insights. The displays were moving and so otherworldly. I also got to see a lot of other sites in Rome, much to my surprise; who knew they were linked with other dark secrets of this ancient capital? The evening was exhilarating, informative, and very different from any other tour of Rome. A must see.

Ariel was an incredible tour guide! She was knowledgeable, warm, funny, and brought us on a tour of interesting places with fantastic history and lore that made us understand her Roman experience. I can’t wait to go back for her other tours! And learning about the fascinating practices of the Cappuccini monks was so fantastic.

We again had the pleasure of having Arielle as our guide. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and very helpful in pointing you towards the best gelato if you feel like having a snack. We had a wonderful time and cannot recommend this tour enough.

Loved the tour! Time flew and lots of knowledge and cool stories were heard. Alethia (our guide) was a witty, well spoken, and knowledgeable guide who ensured the whole group stayed together. It has a good selection of stories, but we went too fast in the crypt. Not too much to walk. Is nice to do something differenti.

Very interesting and informative tour. Ariel who was our guide was very knowledgeable and welcoming. My 2 girls (10 and 15) enjoyed the tour aswell as there is just enough dark history that kept them entertained without a sleepless night!

The tour was excellent—both informative and enjoyable. With only three of us in the group, Yvana was able to answer all our questions and tailor the experience to our interests. She was professional and thorough, yet kept the atmosphere fun and relaxed. At the end of the tour, she even shared her personal recommendations for great restaurants and gelato spots in Rome, which was a thoughtful touch.

The tour of the crypts was fascinating. Our guide, Arielle, was super friendly and really knew her history about the Capuchins. She told some great stories about beheadings and executions in the Pantheon Square and the Piazza Navona as well. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Thanks Arielle!

Tour guide was awesome! She was personable and knowledgeable. My kids adored the tour. My kids are always interested in ghost walks and jumped at the opportunity to tour the crypt. Very much well worth it.

Arielle was excellent! Navigated us around Rome with fascinating dark history stories, and capuchin crypts. She was able to keep our group together weaving through crowds on a busy national holiday. My husband and I enjoyed every moment of this tour. Highly recommended.

Simply awesome :) Major shout out to Alethea, our incredible tour guide. She was clearly passionate about history, the city and her job. She was super well informed and had the perfect relaxed, animated and humorous delivery. The combination of her and the tour's content made it perfect. If you love history, spooky stuff and seeing unique stuff a little off the beaten track (that still hits up the tourist hot spots), look no further. We covered a lot of ground and learnt so much interesting stuff - the kind of facts so interesting you'll never forget them. ivana was brilliant! tours are always so much better when the guide has a real passion for what they are talking about, best parts were seeing the crypts and hearing of the dark stories around the centre which were really interesting, well organised, definitely recommend

Unfortunately, we were unable to make the tour due to transportation issues with Uber and taxis in Rome. The group did try to contact us but because of Internet access unable to receive messages. I was able to respond back to their email and they responded quickly. I gave the tour five stars because of them. Suggestion for anyone going on this give yourself plenty of time to get to the location. Otherwise you’re going to miss the tour and be out $50!

Learning the history of Capuchin’s was interesting. Not what I expected when seeing the word catacombs in the description of the tour. The history of the other events could have been more descriptive.

Ivana was an absolutely amazing guide!! We ended up with a private tour as the weather kept the other attendees away, and she was so kind with her time and knowledge my 10 year old bent her ear for the better part of the tour!! She brought us for the best gelato we had during our two weeks touring around Italy and my son was entertained and continues to tell the stories Ivana shared with us. We define recommend this tour, and we wholeheartedly recommend spending it with Ivana!! 😊

This tour was a highlight of my time spent in Rome. Our guide Ben was exceptional, from the timely meetup through the entirety of the tour making sure all of our questions were answered and that we stayed informed and hydrated. It's clear that he's passionate about the history and deeply knowledgable about each site we visited as evidenced with his fantastic story telling, this tour is a must. I really appreciated the lesser-known significance behind some of these famous sites in Rome.
