We absolutely loved our tour guide he was perfect. 2 hours flew by and we got so educated it was incredible. 15 person group was perfect. Our original time slot was cancelled but the Trip Advisor staff quickly arranged for a different time and it was all seemless. Trip Advisor support was really excellent above and beyond our expectations. It was worth every penny. Would use Trip Advisor again. THANK YOU FOR SUCH A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE!!!

The tour guide explained in more details the masterpieces of Bernini and Caravaggio and other prominent painters and sculptors as well. He told us about the history of this unique collection of objects of art. I am very satisfied with this visit to Borghese Gallery, my second in fact.
Very poor value add. The guide met us outside, showed us how to download a program for self tour, then said goodbye. We should have just bought entry tickets.
The Borghese limits how many people are visiting each hour. Therefore we had room to stand in awe as the art history was described to us by the best guide we have ever had. I’m an art history major and he took me back to my fabulous classes. I had experienced some difficulty with the tour operator (cancelled 6 days prior to visit). Viator agents on the phone and in the chat were very helpful. As I nervously hoped my reservation was indeed moved, the people who handed out the tickets said no problem and said my name. Viator came through as they promised making the event superb!
The guide (Matthias? sp) was amazing. Very knowledgeable and informative throughout the entire tour.
The Borghese Gallery itself was beautiful, particularly the Bernini sculptures and Roman mosaics. Unfortunately, the ticketing experience was disappointing, and I feel that the tour operator’s excessive markup and misleading advertising deserve to be called out. I strongly dislike tour operators that buy up tickets and resell them at enormous premiums, contributing to the very problem that forces visitors to book overpriced experiences in the first place. This experience was advertised as an audioguide tour with skip-the-line tickets, but both descriptions were misleading. Firstly, anyone with a pre-booked ticket, whether purchased directly from the gallery or through a third-party operator, can skip the queue. The queue is for visitors hoping to secure last-minute entry on the day. In other words, the supposed skip-the-line benefit is hardly an exclusive feature of this tour. Secondly, this was not an audioguide tour at all, but a group tour led by a guide. Having had disappointing experiences with tour guides elsewhere in Rome, I asked whether I could simply receive the standard entry tickets instead. To their credit, the ticket distributors waiting outside the gallery were very kind and accommodating. They promptly provided my tickets and confirmed that I did not have to join the tour. Unfortunately, the audioguide was another letdown. Rather than the official Borghese Gallery audioguide, it was a third-party guide that required downloading a dodgy app onto my phone. The content was poor, severely lacking in historical context and meaningful detail about the artworks. The gallery itself is absolutely worth visiting. However, the quality of the tour and audioguide did not justify the substantial premium charged for this experience, particularly given how misleadingly it was advertised. If, like me, you booked a last-minute trip to Rome and can afford to swallow the inflated ticket price, you may decide to bite the bullet. But if you have the opportunity, I would recommend looking into tickets directly through the gallery first. The art is magnificent; this tour operator’s offering, unfortunately, was not.
The Borghese is wonderful! The booking was confusing. We never saw the exact group name we had to look for, it was in such small print on a details page. Another tour guide helped us find it. Why can’t the group name be in the first part of the summary? Also, all the ticket groups were not at the bottom of the steps! They were in the area at the landing area of the steps.
I didn’t expect to enjoy this art to be so incredible. The sculptures were almost unbelievable! The museum is very efficient. They only allow a certain number of guests in each hour. So, it never felt crowded. Our guide was a wealth of information. So knowledgeable and funny!
Our guide, Dimitri, was excellent. He did a wonderful job of guiding us through the gallery and had a great knowledge of the artists and history.
We spent one hour on the 2nd floor with the art and one hour on the first floor with sculptures and paintings. The Borghese allows only 2 hours so if you are more interested in sculptures, like us, break away early to spend more time on the first floor. Our guide was very knowledgeable. It was convenient to be in a private tour.
The time change initiated by the tour group was never confirmed so we weren’t sure if the tour was actually going to happen on the new time.
Very beautiful and interesting gallery. The guide very knowledgeable. The work of art inside the museum it’s breathtaking. The memories I have last forever
Amazing museum, fantastic guide! The museum is incredible and our guide was knowledgeable and engaging. The time flew by.
This was an unusual experience and may not reflect Viator at all. We arrived in a rain storm the entrance to the gallery was crowded with wet people standing out of the rain. It was nearly impossible to enter. We could find no one from Viator. Hundreds of people were standing in lines. Someone identified themself as a tour operator, but she was wasn’t wearing anything which said Viator. She gathered up my family members, read my receipt, and issued us tickets our entry was at four o’clock. We arrived at 3:40. We finally made it into the gallery at 4:25. The entire experience was stressful, uncomfortable, and disorganized. Considering the cost of entry at nearly four hundred dollars, this was a very poor experience.
Beautiful gallery with so much to see. Dimitri was a great guide who was able to give us the context for the artists and their masterpieces in a way that was relatable and easy to follow.
Gallery is beautiful. Do your on own with museum audio. Guide talked so fast with such accent we understood nothing.
Im so glad we had a guide for this place! He was very knowledgeable about the art and its history. If you love art and want to see a priceless collection of it this is the tour for you!
The artwork is breathtaking and the tour guide was extremely knowledge. It was obvious he had a passion for the art and teaching those of us in the group, things we would never be aware of walking through on our own. I highly recommend going with a guide.
The art is extraordinary so many beautiful paintings, sculptures, objects and surfaces. But the most impressive thing was our guide, unfortunately she, pink haired, only shared name once, 3:00 Sept. 29. Her knowledge and joy in sharing it was incredible. She was so inclusive of each and every member of the we felt speciall. She was a delight of our vacation. One difficulty we have had twice , locating the group leader, if tour group is switched from Viator, we should be told, which one. She did however call me, which was very polite!
Meeting our VIATOR tour guide was seamlessly easy. He was very friendly and filled with wonderfully detailed information laced with humor. A joyous 2 hour adventure at the Villa!
Borghese Gallery is filled with amazing works of art and our tour guide made it very interesting with his knowledge of the artists and the family that collected this art.
Great guide. 2 hours barely scratched the surface, but it was an amazin experience.
Wonderful tour. Lots of history by Matteo. He was kind to allow me to sit when seating was available.
Our guide meet us at the Galatia and he was very knowledgeable in arts and sculpture. Though he had an accent, some people may had understanding; but I understood him very well. It was approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Very nice
It was a wonderful experience. I had time to wander through the rooms without being pressed with crowds. Unfortunately it was raining heavily so couldn’t visit the gardens.
I am not an artist and have an untrained eye. However, there was no denying the magnificence of the pieces of art that I got to see at the Borghesi gallery. Absolutely a good call to go.
Dimitri the guide was fantastic —so so knowledgeable and enthusiastic ..made the whole experience .
I think places like this are best toured very early in the morning and or late at night as there are often too many visitors, including other tour companies giving tours and its often not a good mix. The Borghese is filled with great art, but with too many people, especially when those people act like they're the only ones there and oblivious to common courtesy, it can be too much. We had a great tour guide, but sometimes, other tour guides would come too close and I was hearing two conversations at once. Also, certainly there are times I wish to have more details, but the majority of the time, I just want the highlights and not the full history lesson because it can make an hour tour extend into tomorrow.
This was the best museum tour I have been on. Well explained and clear … and I am not a museum person.
Our guide was so informative. This tour was more than anticipated. Definitely recommend booking this for your next trip!
This was expensive for only being a 2 hour tour. In saying that our guide Matthia was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a wonderful experience
The museum is exceptional. I only gave 3 stars to this tour by audioguide because no audioguide was provided. I was told my options was to use an audioguide app on my phone. Unfortunately my phone was not sufficiently charged to use it for the full tour. There was an option for a tour with an audioguide app. I did not pay for that option. Using the free QR codes on the individual placards was sufficient.
Agnes was a wonderful guide, full of drama, intelligence and information. The tour was insightful and thoughtful. Started and ended punctually.
My small tour group was blessed to have a wonderful guide named Agnes who was the BEST. She struck a perfect balance of being informative and knowledgeable and engaging and funny and charming. I would gladly have paid for another 3 hours to listen to her explain more about the many many pieces of art that we did not have time for. She made the whole thing come alive. Very impressed and would recommend here to anyone. Give this woman a raise. She deserves it, you could feel her passion for the art in her voice and expressions. One of the highlights of my Italy trip.
Great tour! Our guide put the various sculptures and paintings in perspective of the period. I learned a lot about the artists including Bernini and Caravaggio!
A pace where we could reflect on what we were visualizing and with a guide who loved what he was sharing. We enjoyed ourselves.
Great, informative tour of probably the best gallery in Rome. Phenomenal sculptures and paintings. Dimitri, our guide, was very passionate, informative with a good sense of humour- highly recommend.
Beautiful gallery, not too big/overwhelming, knowledgeable guide. We did the 4:30 pm tour and it wasn’t too crowded.
Very informative, relaxed tour. Reciever and ear piece provided for excellent hearing of guide. Was impressed with guides passion and knowledge!!
Definitely a must see museum that houses masterpieces from Italian artists . Many Caravaggio paintings as well and Statues, Sculptures by Bernini.
Absolutely wonderful guide! Very insightful and thoroughly enjoyed!!!
Very interesting and varied art works that have a story behind each of them via the audio guide. If you like historical art, this is the tour for you.
Loved our tour of the Borghese. Our tour guide was fantastic! He was passionate about the art and very knowledgeable. It was the best way to start our visit in Rome!
Brilliant guide who clearly knew everything there was to know and was excited to share with us !
An unforgettable experience! Galleria Borghese exceeded all our expectations. Bernini’s sculptures are simply breathtaking - the level of detail, movement, and emotion carved into marble is almost impossible to believe. The Metamorphosis exhibition was fascinating and beautifully curated, adding a contemporary perspective to the visit. Our guide, Alicia, was outstanding. Her knowledge, enthusiasm, and engaging storytelling brought every masterpiece to life and made the visit truly memorable. We highly recommend booking a guided tour. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Rome.
Save your money and buy tickets at the museum. We paid $233 for the tour for 2, cost 16 euros per person at the gallery. This was supposed to be a guided tour with a live tour guide, however, it turned out to be an audio phone tour. When we found our guide outside, we were given a scan code for our cell phones. I explained that we could not use our phones due to a low battery, she just shrugged her shoulders. We wound up buying an audio guide at the museum. Very disappointed with Viator!
WHAT EVER YOU DO DON’T BOOK WITH VIATOR! It’s a scam and they up charge 90 Percent, just book through the website of the actual place if you can, I couldn’t get it translated unfortunately so I booked it through this website. I’ve been trying so hard to get a refund with no luck.
Our guide was excellent and engaging. He made the tour more interesting.
Fabulous! Knowledgeable and entertaining guide! She was pleasant and helpful to all. She really knew the art and brought it to life.
Guide was very knowledgeable taught a great deal but with a very fun and engaging way! Learned a lot!!! Thank you
