Amazing Guided Tour of the Borghese Gallery woth Dimitri! We had an absolutely fantastic experience visiting the Borghese Gallery! Our guide Dimitri was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and engaging, bringing the masterpieces of Bernini, Caravaggio, and Raphael to life with fascinating stories and interesting details. The tour was perfectly organized, informative, and entertaining from beginning to end. We learned so much about the art, history, and secrets behind this extraordinary collection. The sculptures by Bernini were simply breathtaking, and our guide made the experience even more memorable. Highly recommended! A must-do experience when visiting Rome!
This Gallery contains some of my favourite statues in the whole world by Bernini, as well as many spectacular renaissance paintings. The tickets sell out weeks ahead and local late tickets are resold at eye watering prices. You may be asked for photo ID and can only take a tiny (A5 size) bag in, there is a luggage cloakroom to leave larger bags but queues for this can be a bit slow. Make sure you arrive on time ( you can go in from 10 minutes before your time slot) you have a 2 hour slot and coloured badge to match and are asked firmly to leave when your time is up. The 2 hour slot is just the right time to see the whole exhibition. Outside is a beautiful huge park with other museums and interesting features. It's a little bit remote in a housing/office part of town with very few cafes nearby so the Gallery café may be a good idea.
The Gallery houses stunning pieces of sculpture and paintings. The stories behind how they were obtained were very interesting. Our guide Victoria was well informed and engaging. She made the tour so worth the time. I don’t know if we would have appreciated the Gallery as much without her.
An interesting gallery. Remarkably well preserved art works and sculptures. They give you plenty of time to go through.
Great tour. The trip was last minute so we were booking quickly and took the last couple of spots on the guided tour. Dimitri was a fantastic tour guide — very warm and funny and enthusiastic about the art. The gallery was beautiful, as always, it’s one of two things we always see when we come to Rome. The meeting point was easy to find and the whole thing was very well-organized. Highly recommend!
Friendly, professional staff waiting to greet us and get us ready for the tour. Right size of group +/- 15. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide!!
Always love my time in the Borghese gallery. The art is breathtaking and overwhelming. The sculptures are perfection. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and made our experience seamless.
This was an amazing tour! Our guide did an excellent job of teaching the history and providing insights into the collection. We highly recommend it!
Our guide Monica was amazing and so knowledgeable about the collection. Reviewed the art as well as the history of how pieces were acquired. With some very amazing tidbits!
Our guide was knowledgeable, pleasant and enthusiastic about the artwork she showed us. She provided a high quality tour that was well paced and informative. I would recommend this tour for those who are interested in sculpture and art history.
Zenda was a great, knowledgeable guide who navigated us carefully through the Borghese, avoiding the crowds and returning to rooms to ensure we didn’t miss the best pieces. We saw & learnt far more than if we had visited unguided. She was happy to answer questions and her good energy kept all of the group enthused.
Exceptional value for the money. Our tour guide was the best...so sorry I cannot remember name. He was passionate and so informative. Please recognize him as a role model tour guide!
The tour and the museum were amazing. The guide was very knowledgeable as well. She explained at the paintings and statues of importance in the museum.
Our tour guide was absolutely fabulous. Wish I could remember his name. The value for the money was definitely worth it. Take this tour!
If you love art this would be the place for you, so many sculptures, paintings and frescoes by famous artists Worth a visit
Fabulous guide excellent gallery
Wonderfull Bernini sculptures, and other artworks in a superb setting. But we had an excellent guide (knowledgeable and humorous), who really made the visit stand out.
Only two hours, the guides rush you trough the gallery just to introduce you to some of main pieces. The management invites you out of the gallery two hours after your entry!!! 👎
I did not do the audio guide, amazing artwork, a must see in Rome in a lovely park. Does not take too long to see, one of the best ratio of time expenditure to important artwork you can find.
Taking this as a guide-led activity completely elevated our time at the Borghese Museum. Our guide, Frederica, was exceptional. She provided a deeply informative exploration of both the historical context and the artistic genius behind the collection. Rather than just pointing out the works, she explained the political climate of Baroque Rome and taught us exactly how to look at the art—highlighting the physical tension in Bernini’s marble and the mastery of light in Caravaggio's canvases. Frederica’s profound knowledge brought the history and art to life in a way only a great guide can. Highly recommended!
Artistically overwhelming experience; like trying to drink from a waterfall. Every square inch of the building and its contents is a historical marvel. One could stay here for days, perhaps weeks, and not sufficiently appreciate the works of the famous Italian masters displayed within Galleria Borghese.
Agnese was an excellent guide. So much knowledge about this subject in history and so well stated!,,,,
Our Guide was the most knowledgeable and personable tour guide I have ever met. He was truly amazing and patient, explaining the gallery art so well, you could almost imagine the minds of the artists. Our guide described these magnificent exhibits with clarity, understanding and insight into the history of the times, the artists, their materials, their backgrounds. I found this tour fascinating!
Found the entry to be confusing. Didn’t realize we needed to find someone to get our tickets before entry. The program for your phone was quite confusing and lacking on information.
Best museum we went to in Italy; much better than Vatican. Skip the middle man regarding ticketing
Monika was incredible! Our group was just six people, which made the tour feel especially engaging and personal. She guided us through the collection, highlighting key works and bringing them to life with fascinating historical context and relevant insights. Informative, enjoyable, and very well paced. Highly recommended!
The Borghese Gallery with its great statues and art, is well worth a visit. The building is set in nice, park-like grounds. For me, the 2 hours allotted were ample. There is a cafe in the basement with a range of food and drink. The only negative for me was that we downloaded an app, which I thought would provide information on the various exhibits as I walked about. All it played were 3 interesting stories on the history of the family and the museum. However, one could get information on exhibits using a QR code but that was a little cumbersome.
Our guide was excellent and gave us alot of detailed information about the beautiful works of art. U would highly recommend.
Our guide was phenomenal and the Borghese didn't disappoint! She had a degree in art history and shared so much information about the artists and their techniques, as well as the stories surrounding the estate and Borghese family. To see Bernini's work up close was truly a treat.
We were amazed at the beauty of this museum. Each room had so much in it, not just the artwork which was stunning, but the walls and the ceilings were exquisite. Highly recommend.
The gallery and the tour were both wonderful. Our guide Fred/Federico made the experience absolutely wonderful. He was deeply knowledgable about the art and history of the gallery, and his care and insights made the experience truly memorable.
Very informative and interesting. We loved this tour. Our guide Dimitri was really good at explaining everything.
We’ve done a lot of sightseeing in Rome the Galleria Borghese has been my favorite if you appreciate art in any fashion I highly recommend you don’t skip this 2 hour experience. Get your tickets in advance this always sells out. Our check-in and tickets were fast and instructions were clear. If you are coming in summer months this is more close mate controlled than most so entry time is not a factor if you go during the afternoon.
Dimitri was superb- wonderful knowledge, passion and sense of humour.
Frederico our guide kept us fascinated for the whole 2hrs with amazing stories and details on the statues, paintings and history. We wouldn’t call ourselves art lovers so that was a real skill grabbing our attention the whole time. There’s opportunity to break off if you need to.
The museum was beautiful and the tour guide was very informative. He was great at explaining many pieces of artwork we saw.
This is a beautiful museum and we had a fantastic guide. She was so knowledgeable and passionate about the art. I came away feeling like I learned so much in a short amount of time. Our group was small and that was also lucky. Highly recommend!
The Borghese Gallery was fantastic! We had the most amazing tour guide. I have a minor in Art History, so I already knew some about the art that we saw, but our guide must have an advanced degree or be a professor as his knowledge was encyclopedic. He was able to guide us around in a different order than many of the other timed ticket tours, so our group was often alone in a room and able to see the art up close. This tour was one of the highlights of our 16-day trip to Italy and I cannot recommend it enough.
This was a fabulous tour if you want to learn about the best pieces in the gallery. Our guide was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable, giving us so much interesting and helpful information about so many works. She made the most of our two hour time slot.
This beautiful place exceeded my expectations with its incredible art. The only letdown was the audio guide. It’s a two-floor gallery with the ground and first floors but the app confusingly labels them as first and second. Plus the two-hour time limit wasted time trying to figure out my location on the app. We eventually gave up and simply wandered around admiring the art. There were Caravaggio, Bernini, Rubens and many others, along with sculptures and masterpieces by the masters. Is it worth a visit? Absolutely! PS don't forget to look up.
Great option for a break from the Rome heat. Every room is gorgeous. Our guide was super knowledgeable and passionate! If you don’t love art, probably not the tour for you. But you do get to hear about history in this time period in general, and learn about the Borghese family and their influence in Italy.
Terrific guide. His presentation was knowledgeable and meaningful giving great insights of the painters or sculptures intention of each piece.
We did a last minute guided tour with Gabrielle. He was the most well informed and educated guide we have ever experienced. He knew the complete history of literally everything in the gallery. A genius and I don’t use that word very often. He made thr art come alive and made it thr best experience of our vacation if you are fortunate enough to get hi e you will not be disappointed.
Mattelli was amazing with wonderful information and anecdotes that connected us with the art in new and exciting ways
The tour was a nice overview of the offerings at the museum. There is so much to see and this tour highlighted the important works and provided a good understanding of the art work you were viewing as well as the museum itself. The tour left you enough time in your time slot to circle back and see more of the art
Agnes gave us an exceptional tour of the Galleria Borghese. She is incredibly knowledgeable about art history, from the major artistic periods to the lives of the artists, as well as the symbolism, stories, and techniques behind each work. Just as importantly, she presents everything with incredible enthusiasm. Her passion for the artwork is infectious, and her explanations are clear, engaging, and easy to follow. The tour lasted about two hours, and Agnes maintained an impressive level of energy and engagement from beginning to end. Rather than rushing through every room, she carefully selected a few masterpieces in each gallery and explored them in depth, helping us appreciate details and meanings that we never would have noticed on our own. At the end of the tour, we had time to revisit the galleries independently, which was the perfect opportunity to look at everything else with a much deeper understanding. I had visited the Galleria Borghese several years ago, but this experience was on an entirely different level because of Agnes. The museum labels provide only brief descriptions, while Agnes brought each work to life with historical context, artistic analysis, and fascinating stories that simply aren’t available otherwise. If you’re visiting the Galleria Borghese, I highly recommend booking a tour with Agnes. She transformed what would have been a beautiful museum visit into one of the highlights of our trip to Rome.
Easy to find where tickets were. Much cheaper to book in advance on your own but this was a great option when we found out tickets were sold out
Tour guide was great, very knowledgeable nice man.
Lovely, small museum that you can easily get through in the two hours you have for the tour. Our guide was an our history person and her insights into the paintings and sculptures were phenomenal. Highlight of our trip to Rome!
