Excellent experience and very well done. You are both leisurely and enjoying the scenery, but also enjoying an exciting day seeing the sites of Rome that are hard to see.

Itinerary
Leave Rome's city center in style, passing through the grand San Sebastiano gate in the 3rd century Aurelian Walls.
Start discovering the Ancient Appian Way, as it gradually transforms from a nearly anonymous Roman street into a uniquely preserved ancient thoroughfare, today set in the bucolic paradise that is the Appian Way Park.
In the 4-hour tour, a short pause to contemplate the massive burial underground, resting place to half a million souls. Please note: on Wednesdays, this stop is not included in the 4-hour tour. In the 6-hour tour, a 45-minute guided visit of these 2nd-century catacombs, in all their complexity and mystery! Note: On Wednesdays, the 6-hour tour will visit the Catacombs of San Sebastiano (instead of those of San Callixtus).
Admire the vestiges of an Imperial complex built in the 4th century A.D., consisting of a Villa, a Mausoleum and a Circus (a chariot racetrack venue).
One of the largest and best-preserved buildings on the Appian Way - this 1st century (A.D.) funerary monument was consecrated to the memory of a young girl from a patrician family.
A sprawling 2nd century private Villa complex that used to belong to two of the richest brothers in Roman Imperial history. THIS STOP IS ONLY INCLUDED IN THE 6-HOUR TOUR.
See the colossal aqueducts and hear all about the massive system of underground and arch-borne water supply built for the city of Rome in antiquity.
A wonderful 'pocket' of verdant valleys and hills in the suburbs of the Eternal city, the home of large sheep herds that graze on its pastures.
See the incredible Thermal baths of Caracalla from the best vantage point, and hear about the central importance that baths had for the social life of ancient Romans. THIS STOP IS ONLY INCLUDED IN THE 6-HOUR TOUR.

Super day, we thoroughly enjoyed our ride, our guide was great-a young Brazilian, trained as a civil engineer, in Rome with his wife’s UN job
Our family absolutely loved our day along the Appian Way. From the beginning, Top Tours was very professional and helpful for us. I came with my 7, 12, 14, and 18 year old children and each one of them had so much fun, while taking in the countryside and history. Our guide, Carmen, was fabulous- explaining everything along the way and keeping us safe in the city. I was apprehensive about city riding, but it was all okay, and my kids did well. My little guy was a little small for the electric bike so we had a trailer bike and he loved it. The Catacomb Tour was very interesting as well. We are thankful we made sure that was part of our trip.
Loved to fly over the Appian way with our e-mtb! Our guide Merob was fantastic! Good stories and a safe biker ! Recommend to everyone
The Appian Way tour was a walk (ride) back into Roman history. The e-bikes made it a fairly easy ride and the guide was exceptionally knowledgeable. Toured in late October with friends.
Biked the 6-hour tour which sounds like a lot of time, however, could easily have road for another 6 hours. Really enjoyed this tour!
We had an amazing day! What a fun way to see the sights and get out of the busy streets for a few hours. Our guide Maria Rosa, was full of information about all the history along the way and fun stories. This bike ride was a highlight of our trip.
The tour was amazing - we learned so much and the landscape was beautiful. Hard to believe we were right outside Rome. Everything was very organized and our tour guide Rob did an excellent job. He was so friendly and very knowledgeable.
Two adults and two 18 year olds. Such a different experience to all the usual stuff you might do in Rome. We spent the previous 2 days walking round all the sites but this was by far our favourite part! The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Made us feel cycling through the busier parts of Rome and then cycling out and seeing different parts and Roman history was brilliant. Would recommend to anyone visiting Rome especially if you have older children.
All good ... good top end well sorted emtb and a lovely guide ... best day of the Rome break
Our bike ride out to the aqueducts was one of the highlights of our trip to Rome. We are back home now and we are still talking about the bike ride. It was a beautiful day and the bikes worked well and our guide Bita was wonderful.
A thoroughly enjoyable morning exploring some amazing sites with wife and two daughters aged 14 & 11. Booking direct meant my 11 year old was able to ride her own bike ( which was not possible through third party booking sites). Bikes top quality, well maintained and great fun for all. Perfect for non-cyclists. Guide and staff at garage were all super friendly and knowledgeable.
One of our favorite memories of Rome. Road was interesting and the aqueducts even more impressive.
We did the 6hr group tour which included, the Appian, Aqueduct Park and the Catecombs as well as many other stops along the way. We had a group of 10. We stopped at a local restaurant for lunch which was great. Our guide Tom was the best. So knowledgeable and was a great explainer of the history of all our stops. He was a really great guy. I highly recommend doing this tour.
I did the version of this trip without the catacombs -- it was an excellent several hour ride, tour - with thoughtful attention to safety, navigating roads, to stops or breaks (not too many or too long), and the bikes are nice, in great condition. Our guide was friendly, warm and a fountain of information on place and history. Rome was so busy and this particular ride took you out of the frenzy and into another perspective on the rich history of the Roman Empire. The pre-trip communications were spot on. I very much appreciated the personal aspect and friendliness of everyone working at Top Bike Rentals and Tours. Would definitely book with them again.
Well organised and very comfortable bikes - everyone very friendly and helpful. Would definitely use again
We did a self guided tour of the Appian Way with the support of excellent map app provided by Top Bike. Rates as one of the best days in Rome. Service and product was exceptional!
Fun way to see Rome. We took the Appian way and aqueduct tour. Got us out of the hustle and bustle of central Rome and out into countryside. Were able to see things that you would not easily see walking. I felt safe biking on the route they selected and our guide looked out for everyone.
We really enjoyed this experience and highly recommend Maria as a guide! She was extremely knowledgeable of the historical sites and route, and was very engaged with the group. This was the best activity we did while in Rome!
Aaliyah was our guide through TopBikes. This was an awesome choice. Aaliyah was patient, helpful and had great explanations for the sites we visited. The e-bikes were a must, because it made traveling everywhere super easy. The four hours flew by. What we liked most is that the tour took us out of the city and into parks and more mellow country settings. A nice break from the busyness and we toured an area that we wouldn't have visited otherwise. The history was amazing! Thanks, Aaliyah!
Worth every penny! The guide was excellent! Instructed us how to ride in Rome’s traffic and be safe. The ride was amazing—catacombs, the Appian Way, and aqueduct park. An experience I’ll not forget.
I cannot say enough great things about this tour company...Top Bike rentals and tours...our guide Alicia was so knowledgeable...so concerns about traffic were unnecessary as she was so safe. She checked on us at all times...she would stop to let us know the history of the Appian Way and the aquaducts. The bikes were fantastic and in great shape. We rode through parks...traffic...a marathon all very safely. This was the highlight of our 17 day trip around Europe.
Excellent cycling tour. Staff were very professional, friendly and welcoming. The bikes provided were very good Cannondale e bikes, in excellent condition and no reliability issues. Great tour with guide, Sina, who was very friendly and full of information regarding all the areas seen and stopped at.
Fantastic experience, our guide Paola was super knowledgeable and friendly. The bikes are easy to use and a nice break after walking so much the other days of our trip. We learned a ton of history about lesser visited historic places and monuments, and biking through the city gave us a new perspective on other neighborhoods of Rome outside the city center. The tour in the catacombs was definitely worth it. And the 6-hour tour included 30 minutes where we all stopped to buy lunch at a local pizzeria. Definitely book this!
This was a great way to learn and experience a part of Rome’s history! Highly recommended
Riding on bike allowed us to a number of sites not reachable walking. Biking gave a slow enjoyable way to experience minor sites along the route. Great way to see sites.
The landscape covered exceeded my expectations. I used my phone to capture video while I rode. Carmen helped me get my best photos of trip for which I am very appreciative. She was safety conscious re traffic which was reassuring. The trek was something even a novice could do and it was not tiring at all. In fact, it was so exciting it was energizing. This is worth noting since tourism in Rome can be tiring if you're not used to walking for several hours every day.
Best tour ever. Book it. Stop questioning and book it. The e-bikes were so much fun and now I will be getting one for home. To go from a crowded city to lots of space and country side was so amazing. I learned so much and honestly, made my trip!
Excellent tour and bike ride through Rome. Learned a lot with a wonderful guide.
It was a fun, beautiful, educational and challenging (at times) experience. The catacombs were quite the sight to see. The aqueducts were something else and amazing to see. The scenery was beautiful in many places. I would forewarn you that if it’s rainy the bike tour will be a bit more challenging and your shoes will get dirty. But overall it was worth it!
Carmen was superfriendly, professional, educated, multilingual, and safety conscious Road was bumpy but no effort/athleticism required just be careful crossing the street. Great photos and video. I was appreciative at the end.
100% recommend. Wonderful experience
Our guide, Maria Rosa was exceptional!! She was professional, safe, respectful and really knew her history!! Her English eas great too!!
Lolo was an exceptional guide. He did a great job bringing Roman history to life while also making sure everyone felt safe and comfortable throughout the e-bike tour. One of my favorite parts was having lunch by the aqueducts, which was a memorable setting and a nice break during the ride. I also really enjoyed getting beyond the usual tourist areas and seeing parts of Rome that felt much more local and authentic. The combination of the Appian Way, catacombs, aqueducts, history, and biking made this one of the more unique experiences we had in Rome. Highly recommended, especially with Lolo as your guide.
My family and I did the 6 hr tour. An hour was spent at the Catacombs and another hour at lunch. Lunch at a cute little place, half way through the trip. Try the lasagna! Really good. Our guide, Maria Rosa was excellent, very knowledgeable about Roman and European history, and super sweet and funny. I would highly recommend her!!
Great time, really enjoyed the tour. Easily the best tour we did in Rome!
Awesome!!! Wonderful sights! Some crazy hills, but everything was easily manageable with the e-bikes. Our guide Chris was funny, knowledgeable, and really made the experience great!
Wow. What an amazing experience. Lolo our guide was exceptional and kept us safe at all times guiding down the appian way and through aqueduct park. First time doing a bike tour and would certainly recommend.
Tommas was an excellent tour guide with great knowledge and language skills and made us feel very safe whilst also providing interesting knowledge on our surroundings whilst doing so
Awesome tour! One of the best ones I did while in Rome. Our tour guide Davide was very knowledgable and considerate. We rode through the streets of Rome for a portion of the tour which was a bit scary but Davide made sure we were okay. Definitely recommend this to anyone going to Rome!
Tour was excellent. Though I cycle regularly, I did opt for an e-bike. Highly recommend that. It would have been a lot harder with a regular bike, especially if the group is mixed.
Everything was great! It was so nice to see places and sights that we would have missed if we had stayed in the area of the Coliseum. The countryside was beautiful and the catacombs were amazing. Our guide, Paola, was friendly and knowledgeable.
Lolo was an excellent guide and the itinerary was great. Loved it
Great fun and so easy to operate the e-bikes with Irina an excellent guide for a very age mixed group of 8 ranging from 10 to 70ish. Everyone felt very safe under her guidance and so nice to do a tour away from the hustle and bustle of Rome centre with a great route taking you out along the ancient Appian way and through parks with as much effort as you wanted to exert ( or not!). Time for stops and photo ops and a good workout rather than endless Rome walking. Can thoroughly recommend
Loved biking the Appian Way with TopBike. Was a great with historical and archeological sites. Would highly recommend.
Highly recommended tour, bikes were excellent, tour guide was an excellent communicator with facts and figures on all that we saw on our tour. This was a highlight of our visit to Rome
Brilliant afternoon cycling in the sunshine - Icaro was a great guide and kept us safe throughout the tour, the aqueducts and the appliance way were amazing- then the scenery in between the sights was lovely- the plateau where you could see the mountains and horses and families playing in the parks was lovely- a great trip, thankyou
Amazing experience ! We’ve been so well informed by our guide Rossella . A great tour to do.
Was a highlight of our stay in Rome. Loved being out along the Appian way. It was a beautiful experience and a nice change from the crowds. It also was nice to do on a Sunday morning as the roads were calmer.
A great way to see the countryside. The bikes were comfortable and easy to use. The electric assist made the ride easy while barely pedaling. The aquaduct park was so cool!
