Amalfi Coast With Wine Tasting - Private Driving Tour From Rome

We booked this tour and others with Rome Private Excursions. This tour was magnificent. Picked up at our hotel in Sorrento and driven along the Amalfi coast and to Positano for the day. The scenery is spectacular. After walking down to the water and visiting shops along the way, our guide Rafi, took us to a restaurant up in the mountain for a great lunch. Our table overlooked the Positano coastline with an unbelievable view and the food and service was great.

Valentino was an absolute pleasure to spend time with during my day trips to the Amalfi Coast and Florence. From the moment I met him, he was professional, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable. His passion for Italy’s history and culture was evident in every conversation, and he truly enriched my experience with his wealth of knowledge. What I appreciated most was that Valentino didn’t just drive me from place to place—he helped me experience Italy. He took me off the beaten path to enjoy some of the best food and espresso I’ve had on this trip, and he knew exactly where to find wonderful shopping opportunities, which was high on my list. Those personal touches made all the difference. Most importantly, I felt completely comfortable with him. By the end of our time together, it felt less like I was traveling with a driver and more like I was spending time with an old friend. His kindness, professionalism, and genuine care for his guests made these two days some of the highlights of my trip. I highly recommend Valentino to anyone visiting Italy. He is truly exceptional.

We had an amazing experience with our driver, Michael. He was very humorous and checked in with us regularly when we were in Sorrento since we unfortunately hit heavy rains while we were shopping. Then we went to a lovely family owned winery near the Vesuvius Mountain and had a delicious lunch and amazing wines at Tenuta Le Lune del Vesuvio. Even though we knew we would spend the majority of the time in the vehicle, it was well worth the trip!

Omg this was one of the best days of our trip. SAL was an absolute hero. He never stopped entertaining us for 13 hours. This was absolutely perfect for a mixed age group short on time. I love how could customize the day we wanted. Of note, do not book this day on a Wednesday as the famous restaurant is closed. If we every come back to Italy would want Sal as our driver, such wicked cool man, and if possible an even better driver

Valentino provided a 5 star service! He was very knowledgeable and an excellent driver. I would highly recommend this service for anyone looking for a day trip from Rome to the Amalfi Coast.

Our Best of Rome & Vatican tour was amazing!!! Ricardo was a perfect driver. We felt very safe. In addition, he was so informative and knowledgeable. He was very flexible with what we wanted to do. We decided on a sit down lunch at a restaurant. He made us a reservation at an incredible place! When we got tired towards the end of our tour he took us to the hotel at our convenience. Monik our Vatican tour guide was also incredible! She was so informative. Having a guided Vatican tour with just the two of us was definitely the way to go. We were able to see so much and could hear and understand everything she said. Please extend our gratitude and appreciation to both! We will recommend Rome Private Excursions to all of our friends and plan to use you again in the future!

We absolutely LOVED our trip and our driver! Each day Dominico was on time, pleasant and prepared. He was knowledgeable and took us to "local" spots that we would have never found on our own. I would recommend this group to anyone visiting the area.

Tour operator Luca was great, responsive and made great suggestions to customize the trip. Good English-speaking driver. Would recommend research the places well in advance so that you can spend the few hours in each stop wisely and also plan well the steep walking involved.

Christiano picked us up bright and early to have plenty of time to enjoy the coast and excursions. We visited the Almalfi Coast and were given options of things to do between lunch overlooking Positano or walking the shores of Sorrento. Then we visited Pompeii. Beware that the day trip is pricey- You pay the initial fee plus extra for guide, food, drinks, etc. We spent over $1300. But it was very nice to make choices and have expert guidance if you don't know the area. My only struggle was we were in the car for a long period of time and the coastal roads are quite swervy, so I recommend bringing Dramamine and requesting breaks if you have car sickness! (Christiano was very helpful and drove safely). It is almost 7 hours of driving and 4 hours of excursions, so bring entertainment for the road. In hindsight, I realize we should have stayed near the coast instead of doing such a long day trip. Was pretty tiring!

This was our first trip to Italy and we came with a group of people (14 total). We started in Rome and traveled around to several different destinations around Italy and each of our drivers were absolutely incredible with everything! These guys all started out as strangers but very early on into our journey I will say these guys are now family. Luca, Johnny and Manning were our guides and they each had a very comfortable and very clean Mercedes van we traveled in. They had great relationships with all the restaurants where we had our special meals. They were very attentive to everyone’s needs and they went out of their way to accommodate for everyone’s needs.. They were all very knowledgeable about everything! No joke, they all know their history but trust me they aren’t boring. They have great personalities and speak perfect English. They had incredible connections and we were able to skip lines. I felt like a celebrity! I can’t thank these guys enough for their time away from their families to make sure we were taken care of. Our trip was for 10 days and that’s a long time to be away from your family. We parted ways with hugs and I would venture to say you will too if you book with this amazing company. Well we didn't do any wine tasting but our driver Alisanro was GREAT! Better than great, he was awesome. The four of us thought it would be a rough drive but it was fairly easy getting out of the city of Rome at 7AM and took a nice drive down the to the Almafi Coast, which was gorgeous. Be fair warned though, this isn't a very beach friendly spot, I mean there are beaches but there aren't as many as one would think. Alisanro was on time and got us there early and we got back early as well. Instead of taking us to where the heavy touristy areas are, he took us to Sorrento and then on to the TOP of Positano to a dope restaurant at the top of the mountain to where we got an amazing view. It was great learning all about the history and just the nuances of what goes on down there from our driver and guide. Def book them and enjoy!!!

Loved everything but the highlight of the trip was the people!! Luca and his crew (Johnny) gave us the ultimate Italian experience!

Absolutely magnificent tour guides!! Truly seems like they know everything and they care so much for their clients!! As for tips, come with your humor and your questions. Theses guys are the best, like an extended family almost!!

Our cruise ship was stopping at Florence, Rome and Naples. We booked full day tours with Rome Private Excursions for each day. It was wonderful. They picked us up at the ship each morning in MB van with an english speaking driver. He took us to all the key sites while giving us an overview of the area. They were super friendly and informative, helped us avoid lines and crowds and got us back to the ship right on time. Much better than the cruise line tours and less expensive. Would recommend to everyone.

We were a group of 6 people who booked 3 tours in Italy with Rome Private Excursions. Each tour was unbelievable, and we can’t say enough about our tour operators. Thanks to Rafaele, Antonio and Valerio we will remember fondly our time in Italy.

Our final day in Italy was spent on a private driving tour from Rome to Pompeii and Positano booked through Rome Private Excursions. Our trip included a tour of Pompeii, followed by an amazing family style lunch at a lovely restaurant overlooking the town of Positano that included wine, dessert and limoncello! Lunch was absolutely delicious and the view was breathtaking! We then had some free time in the town of Positano. Our driver, Fausto, was great! He was informative, and even serenaded us, which we all enjoyed. All in all, a wonderful day. I highly recommend Rome Private Excursions.

We had the pleasure of using this tour on both of our visits to Italy. This company is simply AMAZING!!! The were ready to get the day started as soon as we got off the ship. They were so knowledgeable about their beautiful country. We had sing-a-longs in our van and fun stops to have some delicious gelato. I look forward to using them again when traveling to Italy.
