Amalfi Coast And Pompei From Rome: Private Full-day Guided Tour

Our guide, Francesco, was extremely knowledgeable and showed a love and reverence for the people who had lived I. Pompeii. Assistant, JB, was funny and engaging and pointed out things along our journey. Driver, Fabio, was excellent. We had a terrific time and are so glad we decided to take this tour!

We had a wonderful experience. We felt like we were able to customize the day. Even though it was our second time going it was a completely different experience. The Pompei tour was very different as well as our time in Positano. Wonderful day we would definitely do again

What a wonderful and memorable experience! The visit to Pompeii was absolutely fantastic. Our guide, Ronaldo, brought the history of the place to life with his incredible knowledge, detailed explanations, and genuine passion. From there, we headed to the breathtaking town of Positano, with ample time to explore and soak in its beauty. The entire tour was exceptionally well organized. A special thanks to Ana and our driver for making the journey so smooth and comfortable. Their hard work, dedication, and attention to detail were evident throughout the day, ensuring everyone had a great experience. Highly recommend this tour and would definitely love to visit again!

We booked a private tour but had two other people with us. We spoke English and they spoke Portuguese so the tour guide had to say everything in both languages plus the tour guide spoke Italian with the driver. Most of the time the tour guide spoke to the Portuguese people because they were from the same town. They were not very attentive to the English speaking people and it made it very awkward. Because it ended up not being a private tour, we were crammed in the backseat, which was not very comfortable for a 12 hour tour. Viator should not list a tour as private if it is not. My expectations were not met . Lunch on the Amalfi Coast was a disappointment as well. It was not a good restaurant to enjoy the area. It was a local café that was poor. We thought we would have a nice lunch on the coast, but that was not the case. The driver drive so fast, it was not enjoyable to watch the scenery go by. It was an OK tour but not what I expected so we were very disappointed.

Ana was a delight and provided in every way for us! The Pompeii tour was fantastic! Our only complaint was our driver who coughed nonstop on the way back! He was a great driver but we were concerned about contracting whatever he had!

This trip is a long day but we knew in advance what we signed up for. It was a nice van and we stopped when needed. It was 60% driving, 20% time at Pompei, and 20% at Positano. However, it was worth it to see the beautiful Italian countryside during the drive. We stopped to stretch our legs and get breakfast, had an excellent guide at Pompei, and enjoyed a lovely seaside lunch and shopping in Positano. Our one complaint was that the driver made everyone feel unsafe with his high speed driving (not a single car passed us coming or going), texting while driving and talking on his phone. We gave him a modest tip, but probably shouldn't have.

Pompeii tour was rushed. Group asked him to repeat and slow down he stated that he only had two hours. Many group members never heard parts of tour because he moved on already. At least he spoke. The amalfi tour guide just said "amalfi beautiful". Our town stop was scheduled for 3 hours, the guide insisted on 90 minutes. Then we drove by the coast for two hours never stopping for pictures. They had to be taken from moving vehicle. If you were seated on drivers side of bus, your view was the hillside. This tour could have been much more, but it appeared the tour operator tried to schedule too much in a day and failed to provide a positive experience

The trip was great and the guides and driver terrific. The local guide at Pompeii was very knowledgeable and informative. Doha are the guide for the day as very nice and protective of us as a group and allusio the driver very kind and helpful to us. He was great at navigating the road along the Amalphi coast and getting us to where we needed efficiently

Pompeii & the Amalfi Coast – What a Double Act! 🇮🇹 Nari, our charismatic and incredibly knowledgeable guide, and Emmanuelle, our fabulous King of the Road driver — what a double act! These two made an already spectacular trip truly memorable, combining fascinating history, breathtaking scenery and an extraordinary amount of laughter. First, a little about our dynamic duo. Nari informed us that he was a prestigious King, whilst Emmanuelle was a feudal lord and part-time pirate. Nari, meanwhile, was also a part-time pirate, with connections to the infamous Barbarossa — although, disappointingly, no red beard! Their wonderfully colourful ancestral histories provided us with some fabulous stories throughout the day. 😂 Joking aside, Nari is a brilliant guide: knowledgeable, engaging, charismatic and blessed with a wonderful sense of humour. Emmanuelle deserves equal praise for his superb driving. Smooth, considered and reassuring throughout, he navigated the roads with such skill that we could simply sit back, relax and enjoy every moment of the journey. I was also bestowed with the prestigious title of BOSS for the entire trip, with Nari even offering me a red carpet for my arrival in Positano. Naturally, I embraced my VIP status with the dignity and humility befitting such an honour! Pompeii – A Journey into Another World Pompeii was utterly captivating and, in many ways, otherworldly. To walk through a city preserved by such a catastrophic moment in history was an extraordinary privilege. The ruins tell a story of an ancient civilisation, bringing its people, homes and everyday lives into startlingly vivid focus. I was fascinated by the ingenuity of Roman engineering, particularly the water fountains, plumbing and drainage systems. The way the infrastructure worked together was remarkable. I was especially intrigued by the pieces of reflective stone set into the cobbled streets, helping people navigate in the dark — an ingenious ancient precursor to our modern road cat's eyes! The beautifully preserved frescoes and sculptures were wonderful to see, and the sensitive preservation work in various areas helped bring the past to life without losing the authenticity of the place. Pompeii is a compelling reminder of how sophisticated ancient society could be, and how much its surviving streets and buildings can still teach us. The visit was long enough to give us a wonderful introduction to Pompeii and a real appreciation of what it has to offer, whilst leaving plenty to discover should we return for a more in-depth exploration. And, of course, the resident cats were an added delight! The Amalfi Coast – Breathtaking Beauty The scenic drive along the Amalfi Coast was simply breathtaking. The views were spectacular, and Nari's commentary added so much to the experience, blending fascinating information with amusing anecdotes that kept us entertained throughout. I was particularly struck by the sheer colossal scale of Vesuvius. Seeing this enormous volcanic presence dominating the landscape gave me a real sense of the power of nature. There was something almost humbling about its beauty, coupled with the knowledge that it remains an active volcano. A landscape of extraordinary beauty, with an unmistakable sense of nature's immense power. Positano was a real highlight. We had plenty of time to enjoy lunch, browse the shops and wander through the beautiful streets to see the church and soak up the atmosphere. Nari had thoughtfully phoned ahead to reserve us a table, which was much appreciated and made everything feel wonderfully organised. And then there was the complimentary limoncello! Nari clearly considers himself the official ambassador of limoncello for the region — and quite rightly, the God of Limoncello! Given his royal connections and pirate ancestry, I suspect he may also be related to Bacchus. What a rich and vibrant family tree! 🍋 Nari also shared some wonderful additional media and sent us links to fabulous Italian pasta, giving us a little more of Italy to enjoy long after the tour had ended. A Truly Memorable Experience This was so much more than a sightseeing tour. It was a wonderful blend of history, culture, scenery, storytelling and sheer good fun. Nari and Emmanuelle were the perfect team. Their knowledge, professionalism, humour and obvious rapport made the whole experience feel special from beginning to end. We felt thoroughly looked after, entertained and privileged to have visited such extraordinary places in their company. If you're considering a trip to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast, I would wholeheartedly recommend this experience. You'll discover fascinating history, breathtaking scenery and, if you're lucky, enjoy the company of a King, a feudal lord, a couple of part-time pirates and the undisputed God of Limoncello! We had three people that helped with our experience; our driver, our tour guide, and our guide at Pompei. All three were amazing. They were knowledgeable, kind, thoughtful, and accommodating. Pompei is super interesting and definitely worth a trip. Positano was beautiful and great to see. There is a lot of time in the van, and the road at the Amalfi Coast is very windy. We found the trip to be worth it, but some might find the length of the drive difficult.

We were picked up at 6:45 from our hotel with a driver and our tour guide Fabio and Malak. Wow what an adventure we had, Our first stop was Pompeii where we had an incredible local guide named Francesco. He walked and talked us through the history of Pompeii and his passionate knowledge was incredible. A true story teller. Our next stop with our amazing driver and guide was the Amalfi coast. The views were so stunning and incredible we couldn’t believe our eyes. They both made our day so much fun and so memorable for both of us. We didn’t get back to our hotel till 8 PM and the day just went so quickly. We are so impressed with the tour and would recommend it to anyone and everybody to do it and can’t recommend our amazing guide and driver enough. Absolutely loved it. This wasn’t just any trip to Italy. I’m newly widowed, and my dad just turned 75 after a miraculous heart transplant, so we decided that was more than enough reason for a father-daughter trip to celebrate LIFE. 🇮🇹❤️ By some magic (or by the power of the full moon!) we ended up with Ana and Emanuele as our tour assistant and driver. Some things are just written in the stars, and apparently these two being the dream team is one of them. ⭐️ We spent the day exploring Pompeii, driving the Amalfi Coast and visiting Positano, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about the experience. My dad has some trouble walking, and I was a little worried about how he would handle such a full day. Anna and Emanuele could not have been more patient or accommodating. They never once made us feel rushed, worked around what he was comfortable doing and took such good care of both of us. Somehow the whole day felt completely relaxed while also feeling like we were getting our own little VIP tour of Italy. Ana is an absolute gem. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, but she’s also just so much fun to spend a day with. By the end, it honestly felt like we were exploring Italy with a friend who just happens to know everything, rather than someone we had just met that morning. We talked about everything from Pompeii and Italian culture to family, life, astrology and why, apparently, two Tauruses are exactly who you want running the show. And if Ana ever encourages you to fully embrace the local coastal traditions…just trust her. 🍋😂 Emanuele was equally wonderful. He is kind, funny, patient, well-connected and an amazing driver (which you will especially appreciate once you see the roads along the Amalfi Coast!) He made everything feel easy and was somehow always exactly where we needed him to be. Of course Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast and Positano are spectacular, but what I’ll remember most about this day is how much fun we had and how genuinely cared for my dad and I felt. Ana and Emanuele turned what could have simply been a beautiful sightseeing day into one of my favorite memories from our entire trip. If you’re lucky enough to get these two together, consider it written in the stars. I have a feeling Italy hasn’t seen the last of me…I imagine Christmas might be rather nice there. But we’ll leave that prediction for another day. 😉 Thank you both for an unforgettable day. My dad and I will be laughing about this one for a very long time. ❤️

Absolutely worth the money! Our guide jazzy and our driver (sorry forgot his name) did a wonderful job taking us from Rome to Pompeii then on to Positano Amalfi coast. We enjoyed the history and the company. Yes it is a drive to get there, definitely worth the adventure.

Malak and Alessandro were amazing!! We had a great tour, we stopped for a quick bite to eat in the morning after they picked us from our hotel. Alessandro was a terrific driver, Malak was very knowledgeable and kind. We stopped in Pompei, the transition was seamless and the tour was incredible. The guide at the ruins truly was an expert in all the history. We then went to Positano and had lunch on the beach. The only thing I wish was if we could stay like 30-45 longer in positano to really explore all the shopping. But we understood why we could not time wise. We took a beautiful drive down the coast! We recommend this tour to anyone with a limited time but wanting to see it all !

Excellent “hostess/coordinator” for a spectacular day! Malik was exceptional- preparing us for the tour of Pompei and Amalfi coast, introducing us to a free guide in Pompei and wonderful and informative tour, making reservations at a great restaurant in Positano and pointing out goo shops/experiences in Positano. Leaving Positano and driving through towns on the Amalfi coast was a once in a lifetime time experience with our experienced driver ( Fernando i believe) and Malik as a tour guide. We had a wonderful tour today! Ana, our tour guide, and Emanuel, our driver, were phenomenal. They picked us up from our hotel on time and greeted us warmly. Throughout the day, they were organized, professional, friendly, and a pleasure to be with. We began with a two-hour guided tour of Pompeii with AnnaSophia, who was wonderful from start to finish. Her incredible knowledge and enthusiasm brought the ancient city to life and made our visit truly unforgettable. After Pompeii, we enjoyed a gorgeous drive along the Amalfi Coast, stopping several times to take photos and admire the spectacular scenery. Emanuel was an excellent driver and kept us feeling safe and comfortable along the narrow, winding roads. During our visit to Positano, Ana walked with us to a lovely restaurant overlooking the beach, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch with a beautiful view. She also recommended some of the best shops for souvenirs and clothing, which made our time in Positano even more enjoyable. Ana was warm, personable, and attentive, and she truly enhanced our wonderful day. We loved Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast and would definitely return for another visit. We highly recommend this tour! Our guide, Doha and our driver, were wonderful, and our guide at Pompei was as well. The van was clean and pristine. We never felt unsafe and they were very knowledgeable, making sure we didn’t miss a thing.

There were 4 of us and our guide Nari and drivers Alessio were wonderful. It was a long day, but they broke it up with history facts, restaurant recommendations and professionalism.

It is a bit of a drive but both Pompeii and Positano were amazing!!! Malak and Fabio were great in getting us to and from our destination and taking care of all of the logistics. I would highly recommend!

A wonderful day! Pompeii was very interesting and our guide was full of information. We also especially enjoyed taking a ferry from Amalfi to Pasotinio and the restaurant our guide and driver recommended. Ellen and Luigi were very friendly, full of information and helpful.

This was very good tour. JB was very good and a tour group was amazing. We were picked up from our hotel which was seamless. We visited Pompei and our tour guide was great. (It was very hot so we recommend taking an umbrella). We then visited the Amalfi Coast and the views were stunning. We had lunch in a lovely restaurant which was recommended by JB. The star of the show was Artur who was our driver. He navigated the roads with ease and was a gentleman throughout.

I highly recommend this private tour of Pompeii and Positano/Amalfi coast. My husband and I and our 2 friends really enjoyed day and it was well worth the price to have a private tour. Our guide for the day, Nariman and our driver Emanuele picked us up at our Airbnb in Rome, we stopped for a quick breakfast and were off to Pompeii. Nariman and driver Emanuele were top-notch as well as our guide for the 1 1/2 hour tour in Pompeii. Pompeii was absolutely fascinating. We stopped in Positano for 3 hours and had a lovely lunch on the beach followed by a tour the rest of the coast with stunning views.

Elizabeth was amazing and the driver (Manuel) is a hero! We had a great day, exploring the Pompeii ruins and the Almafi Coast. The tour guide in Pompeii (Francisco)was beyond knowledgeable and so excited to have us there! He was from Pompeii and did an amazing job as well. Five stars does not do it justice. Highly recommend

Well organised with great hosts throughout. Communication with the team was really good, collection times were advised in advance and pick up was punctual. Fantastic day at Pompei with a really nice and knowledgeable guide. Would highly recommend this trip.

Our driver giordano and guide iman were terrific. Our guide in pompei Carolina did a great job and really spent time explaining the history. Both adventures were awesome, just remember lots of walking and positano has a lot of steps. But both are worth it.

This tour was fantastic. It is a full 12 hour day but worth every minute on the road. Pompeii was spectacular even though the 2 hours at the site is not nearly long enough. you really got to see how the city was and how the people moved about. The drive to and visit in Positano was so scenic and views just can’t be beat. The town was a great place for lunch and shopping before continuing the drive in the Amalfi Coast. It was a Iong drive back to Rome, approximately 4 hours, but everything was worth seeing and experiencing that I would not change a thing. The guide and driver were fabulous, especially considering the crazy traffic, our driver was terrific!! Also to enjoy this trip make sure everyone is physically fit to walk A LOT and do lots of stairs and walking on steep hills.

While we were in Rome we booked several trips. This was by far the best one of all. We were picked up at our location by Maria and our driver and escorted to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. Both of them were very attentive and knowledgeable. There was an excellent guide provided in Pompeii and then Maria and our driver (so sorry I can't remember his name) guided us through the coast, recommended places for lunch and where to shop, and took pictures for us. It was a small group and we traveled with another couple who were also delightful. Can't say enough about what a great experience this was.

Pickup at hotel and drive was great. Tour guide in Pompeii spoke fast and walked faster, he was a bit hard to keep up with given the crowds of people in August. Information provided was good and when he stopped to show us areas he explained well. Drive was long, but the scenic parts were stunning! With the crowds at both Pompeii and Postitano, suggest going in off season. Trip guide was excellent and informative, Anna gave great information, kept an eye on group, and directed us to the best lemon candies and soaps that I brought home.

Phenomenal! Wonderful experience from start to finish. Our guide, Juliana, was very informative, communicative, prompt, and friendly. The tour length made for a perfect day trip from Rome without having to navigate trains, buses, or driving ourselves! Our driver (I don’t recall his name) deftly navigated the Almafi coast roads and traffic!!! I’m thankful to not have done it. Romero, our guide in Pompeii, was so knowledgeable and friendly. Time flew by! Don’t expect to see all of the ruins in this trip. That would take days. Do expect to hit the highlights and still be overwhelmed. Overall, this was a very nice day trip that took all the logistical stress off of us!

This was a great trip and my family of 5 (two adults, three teenagers) really enjoyed it. We lucked out and had the van to ourselves, so it turned out to be a private trip which made it even better. Pompeii was awesome, despite the insane heat. Our guide in Pompeii was very knowledgeable and gave us a great overview of the site. Positano and the drive along the coast was beautiful. I would probably have skipped the long lunch for a shorter meal with more time to explore/shop, but you still a good amount of time to get a feel for Positano. Our guide Doha was so friendly, and we really enjoyed spending the day with her. She gave us some great recommendations on restaurants and some cool places to visit when we returned to Rome.

Our tour guide, Nariman, was truly exceptional and made the entire experience unforgettable for my teens and I. From the very beginning, he was beyond kind, welcoming, and incredibly attentive, always anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. Nariman’s flexibility and patience kept everything running smoothly, . What really set Nariman apart was his sense of humor combined with an incredible depth of knowledge. He brought every location and story to life in such an engaging way that even the teenagers in our group were completely interested and involved the entire time. No small accomplishment! Learning felt effortless because Nariman made history, culture, and local insights entertaining, relatable, and memorable. We also want to recognize our driver, Luigi, who was absolutely fantastic throughout the trip. He was responsible, intuitive, and always seemed to know exactly where to stop for the most beautiful photo opportunities. Luigi made every ride comfortable and stress-free, and his local knowledge helped us discover some truly incredible picture-perfect spots that we would have otherwise missed. We felt safe at all times and was able to relax and enjoy the views. Nariman’s passion for what he does was obvious in every detail, and together with Luigi, they turned what could have been just another tour into one of the highlights of our trip. We left not only with wonderful memories, but also with so much new knowledge and appreciation for the places we visited. We cannot recommend Nariman and Luigi highly enough and would happily tour with them again anytime. Always ask for Nariman and Luigi. A dynamic duo.

We had a wonderful day with Doha - she made everything smooth and seamless and we enjoyed every bit of it except for the heat, which of course we could do nothing about! The air conditioned van was welcome relief for sure. The stops on the coast were perfect and it was a great time, even a bit of shopping! Would definitely recommend!!

What a wonderful Trip. JB, our tour assistant, was kind, friendly and so helpful. He made sure we were comfortable and safe. He even made reservations for us at a beautiful sea side restaurant where we had an absolutely wonderful meal. Then…get this, he prepared a stop for us where we got to sample 3 different kinds of limoncello and a pistachio cello. Forgive my spelling :). After, on the way home, he arranged a stop at a beautiful spot and played photographer for us so we could take a great romantic picture together. I couldn’t recommend doing a private tour with this group higher. Money absolutely well spent!

An exceptional experience! Jazzy and Walter were terrific, and made a very fun trip for us.

Driver was excellent. He is accompanied by a translator. You stop for breakfast on the road. Then arrive at Pompeii and a local guide takes over. After Pompeii, you drive to positano for lunch on the beach. Then you take the coastline back, stop for brief pictures at Naples and then return to Rome. There is no talking during the ride, meaning, the translator is not giving you information as you drive, so a .good chance to sleep.if you need to catch up.
