We had a wonderful stay at Grand Hotel del Gianicolo and were very happy with our choice. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. We were also lucky to have a room with an absolutely fantastic private terrace, which made our stay even more special. The pool area is a real highlight. During the day, you can have lunch at the restaurant right by the pool, and in the evening the area is transformed into a lovely dinner setting with a very nice menu. It creates a relaxed atmosphere and makes it tempting to simply stay at the hotel for the evening. The location is also excellent. We walked to most of the places we wanted to visit in Rome, including Trastevere and the historic centre. The hotel is located up on the Gianicolo hill, so after a long day of sightseeing, when you don’t feel like walking back uphill, it is very easy to take a taxi back to the hotel. Overall, a very enjoyable stay with great service, a beautiful setting and a location that worked perfectly for exploring Rome. We would happily stay here again.

I visited the hotel and ordered food during my stay. Unfortunately, when the meal arrived, the chicken appeared significantly undercooked, with clearly pink areas inside. I raised this politely with staff because, understandably, undercooked chicken is a food-safety concern. What was most disappointing, however, was the response from hotel management. Rather than engaging constructively with the complaint, apologising, investigating what had happened, or reassuring us about food-safety procedures, management refused to engage meaningfully. The situation then became unnecessarily confrontational. Members of management began filming us and, in my view, behaved in an aggressive and intimidating manner simply because a legitimate complaint had been raised. Mistakes can happen in any hotel or restaurant, and I would normally judge a business largely on how it responds when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, the handling of this complaint was considerably more concerning than the original issue itself. I would have expected a professional hotel to take an allegation of undercooked chicken seriously, deal with guests calmly and respectfully, and investigate the matter properly. Based on my experience, I was very disappointed by both the food and, particularly, the management response.
The worst nights sleep I've had in a long time. Ineffective windows do little to block the sound of traffic and the DOGS BARKING ACROSS THE STREET ALL NIGHT. The walls are also very thin so we could hear the conversation happening in the room next dois even thorough they were talking in low voices. Avoid this hotel
Beautiful hotel located on the very of top of Trestevere "hill". The walk up and down to the Tiber river, where many nice restaurants are located, it's more of a hike and may not be for everyone. Great breakfast buffet. Super friendly staff, like Sergio at the front desk whom I want to especially acknowledge. The downsides are: the steep hill and the hotel location at the intersection of very busy thruways where traffic is constant and super fast. There are also two hospitals in the area I believe, and ambulances with very noisy sirens run at all times. It's just too bad, it's not the hotel fault. I'm sure 100 years ago the place was a jewel on top of the historic hill of the lovely Trestevere neighborhood.
Fabulous location, quiet area and easy to get everywhere with bus stops close by. The room was smaller than expected but lovely decor and otherwise comfortable. The staff were great. Special mention to Paolo the waiter /bar tender who obviously takes a lot of pride in his work. His kindness and service contributed greatly to our time there. Also to Beatrice at front reception, who was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you! I would stay here again.
