After pick up at designated hotels/meeting points in South Rio, you'll be driven to Tijuca Forest Park and learn with the tour guide about its history and geography. You'll then start the ascending hike, inside the tropical rainforest, with nice views on the way and maybe seeing some wildlife like monkeys and birds. In aprox. 50 min, you'll reach the top of Pedra Bonita where you get stunning and incredible views of Rio. The ocean, the beaches in the South and West part of Rio and also Christ Redeemer are some of the elements on this 360o view but the most impressing is Pedra da Gavea, the highest monolith close to the ocean in the world, with 842m (2742ft). You'll have some time to enjoy, relax and get pictures on the top before hiking down. The trails has an easy to moderate difficulty level, going up and down hill, and is suitable to children 6+. On the way in or out to the Tijuca Forest, the tour stops by Vista Chinesa, one of the most famous summits of the park, that reveals a great view to Rio and one of the very few places where is possible to capture Christ Redeemer and Sugar Loaf in the same frame, together with the green hills of Rio... a great picture opportunity.
Our hike through the Tijuca Forest was handled by Jungle Me. It was a wonderful experience. Our guide, Renata, was very personable and knowledgeable of the area. She took time to talk with us about the history of the area and the forest. As we hiked, she shared points of interest and background information. The hike and information helped make this a wonderful experience. I would definitely use them again.

it was a beautiful half-day Hikking shared with Renata in the Tijuca forest. She took the time to explain us the history and the different biospheres of the country before the hike. we visited the Bat cave, and we saw beautiful waterfalls and beautiful panoramas, notably the view of the Chinese pagoda. we were lucky enough to see a lemur and a few birds. Renata likes sharing her experience of living in Rio and the fauna and flora of Tijuca. It’s a very beautiful experience that I recommend.
We had a fantastic time on a private 1/2 day hike in Tijuca National Park. Although we were limited on time, Anna was incredibly helpful with arranging a 1/2 day hike providing flexibility with pickup/drop off times. We were fortunate enough to have Luiza as our guide. Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable about the park, but also about some of the history of Brazil. She was friendly, easy to talk to, and wonderful company on trail! Our guide, Luiza was amazing. Friendly, polite, excellent English speaker and very knowledgeable. The weather was misty but nonetheless we really enjoyed our hike in the forest and up to Pedro do Bonita and did get some good views of Rio at times. We saw an interesting variety of birds and a very special view of a sloth with her baby.
Renata was very knowledgeable and friendly. The views from the end of the hike were amazing, but I would have preferred a few more stops along the way to appreciate the forest. The ground, of course, was very uneven and I had to spend the majority of the time looking down so as not to trip. We did stop briefly a few times, but I did feel a little rushed.
We had an excellent guide, Vinicius, for this adventure in an urban rainforest. He was knowledgeable about the history and ecology of the region and he was able to gage the ability of his clients. He took us on a hike that challenged and excited us. We saw monkeys, coati and lots of birds. The views were stunning! Vini was also able to take creative photos of us inside a cave. Jungle Me contacted us about the time of our pick up and they were very efficient. I would definitely recommend this company and this guide!

What an amazing trip! We had such a wonderful day with Luíza, her intern and the driver. She was incredibly enthusiastic and told us so much about the history of Rio. Thanks to her background as a biologist, she also had so much knowledge about the fascinating plants and animals that live here. She really took the time to answer all our questions and spoke excellent English, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. They were all so kind. The viewpoints were absolutely breathtaking, and the hike was just the right length. Everything was very well organized, and we felt comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire day. Our forest guide Gustavo was absolutely wonderful! He had rich knowledge about this forest’s local plants, wildlife and history. He spoke clear English and patiently told us many interesting stories and facts. He was observant and pointed out lots of small animals and beautiful scenery that we would have missed by ourselves. He was friendly, attentive and kept a relaxed pace for our group. He cared about our safety all the time and made our walk in the forest fun and unforgettable. We really enjoyed the tour with him and highly recommend this guide!
We did the "Best of Tijuca Forest" hike with Luiza and Jungle Me, and it was hands-down the best tour of our Rio trip! Luiza was incredibly knowledgeable — she wove in local history and nature facts throughout the hike to the peak and made sure we felt safe while having a blast the whole way. We didn’t have a lot of time in Rio so booked this activity which included a relatively easy hike to an amazing viewpoint, and a second stop to another equally amazing viewpoint. What really made this an incredible experience was our guide Luiza. Very knowledgeable, and incredibly enthusiastic. She was engaging the whole time, willing to answer questions and genuinely has pride in what she does and her home city of Rio.

We were a small group of three people and went on our hike with Ricardo. Everything went perfect regarding communication, pick-up and timing (from 8 to 13 o'clock). He provided very interesting information on the national park and its history. And since we were a rather young and fit group, Ricardo took us to two more waterfalls and the "Chinese view" after Pedra Bonita. We encountered monkeys and sloths 🤩 Ricardo created a releaxxed and humorous atmosphere and even helped with taking photos of the great views. Overall, great experience, highly recommended!

We spent a fantastic moment with Riccardo hiking to Pedra Bonita, admiring the view from the top, seeing a sloth on the way and chatting about the forest and the life in Rio. Riccardo also nicely showed us waterfalls and the Chinese view which were not necessarily initially planned. He also helped us to rent a bike at the end of the tour when we changed our plans. If you’re wondering how to fill your days in Rio, think no more and book a Tijuca Forest tour and if possible with Riccardo!!! This half-day trip was the highlight of our time in Rio. The forest is absolutely stunning, but it was our friendly guide Riccardo who made it unforgettable. He is a walking encyclopaedia and so funny too. We learnt a lot about Rio & Brasil history & why the jungle is there in the first place. He made everyone feel at ease and genuinely special. It felt personal, relaxed, and full of great energy from start to finish. Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed the tour!! Gustavo was very kind, also teaching us some precious history and recommending restaurants which we tried and were very good. The hike was easy and took less than one hour on the way up. We got to see monkeys and even a sloth. The view at the top was amazing! We had time to take pictures and enjoy some snacks. We were guided by Riccardo, an excellent guide. Knowledgeable, patient, responsive and friendly. He picked us up from our accommodation and we hiked in a small group in Tijuca NP just outside Rio de Janiero. We walked through temperate rainforest, visited old coffee plantation ruins, a cave and had a waterfall shower. We saw a snake (at a safe distance), birds and capuchin monkeys. It felt a million miles away from the city. Recommend.

Our guide Pietro was incredible! He was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the forest and its history. He also gave very nice recommendations for places to visit around Rio. The hike itself was a nice pace with many photo opportunities and we ended with a waterfall shower! Pickup and drop-off was very easy and convenient. Would definitely do it again

Went with Luiza and had a great experience! She is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The hike itself is not that difficult and I even saw people not wearing sneakers but would still recommend sneakers! We were in a small group of 4 people total and felt that the hike and experience were just as promised.
Had a great little hike with Renata up to Pedro Bonita mountain top. We were picked up on time from our hotel, expertly guided, with lots of info about Brazil and it's regions and the Rio area. Nice easy hike and fantastic views from the top. On the way back we saw monkeys on the trail, so an added bonus. There's a nice little cafe at the end for a drink or snack. A brief photo stop at Vista Chinesa and then Renata dropped us off at the Botanic Gardens as we requested. Lovely way to spend a half day. Easy company to book with and efficient. Highly recommend!
Very nice hike in the forrest located in the city. Interesting guide, who gave us facts about Rio,history of Brasil and facts about life in Brasil and Rio. We visited caves, waterfalls and wievpoints. We highly recommend this tour
We would have liked a longer hike, but with limited time in Rio, we opted for a half day outing, but we seemed pack a lot in. Pietro was a brilliant guide, so informative, interesting and interested in us and our lifestyles / culture in the UK. Brilliant views from the top that provided a completely different perspective of Rio. Would definitely recommend.
This tour was a highlight of our family trip to Rio. Arrangements were simple to make ahead of time and our guide arrived in the tour vehicle on time/early at the hotel pickup point - we were staying nearby. Our journey to the park was safe, scenic and enjoyable. We saw the large waterfall then got out at the next stop to start our hike. The big spray or wearing jeans is a good idea but the bugs were not very active that morning. We had a nice time hiking in the park going up a couple steep sections but nothing too crazy. And we had our lunch/snacks during a short stop at the last waterfall. This was a cool hike in the jungle / forest area of the park with nice mountain views and well maintained trails. It was a fun outing for the family that required some preparation and was easy to enjoy!
Fantastic half day trek. Luiza our guide was knowledgable and friendly and weaved in history with nature and a sloth sighting! Challenging in places the trek was still child friendly. Would recommend without hesitation.
