Overall a decent tour, but the group was too large and the bikes were a bit old, none had bells. Guide was friendly and informative

Fantastic experience! The bike tour was a great way to see the sights of Rio de Janeiro, and the guide was excellent. The pace was relaxed, and we got to take in some really interesting spots. The guide seemed genuinely enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge, and it made the tour really enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing bike ride. The guide's expertise and passion for the area really added to the experience, and I would take it again in a heartbeat.
Not the easiest city for cycling but still a great way to cover some ground and get the lay of the land without only being stuck at the most touristy areas. Wish our guide had been a bit more attentive and not spent almost the whole time talking with just one participant. Also no water was provided on a very hot day (never had that before on a bike tour) and no thought of a bathroom stop.
Our guide was knowledgeable and positive. We always felt safe and we saw an amazing number of places throughout the city. highly recommend.
Had an awesome time with Marco. Great Dutch guide who has lived in rio for many years and has lots of useful information and perspectives. Would recommend!
Booked a 3 hour cycle tour. Enjoyed every minute. A really good positive way to familiarise yourself with the Urban landscape. Excellent English speaking guide. Our tour leader had moved from Holland to Brazil and had that extra understanding of what the city had to offer. A great route mostly on cycle paths. Good pace and lots of interesting and honest information. On their recommendation we also visited other areas via the metro. Great day. A easy way to see the immediate neighbourhood of Copacabana. Bikes worked well.
Myself and my partner are from Glasgow and we were delighted to meet a few guys that spoke perfect english (being from the Netherlands), as our Portuguese isn’t up to scratch! The bike tour with Zan was great, he really knew his stuff about Rio as he has been there for 6/7 years. We got to see all of the main parts of Flamengo and Botafogo etc which was great fun and Zan taught us a good bit about life in Rio. He took us to a few cool places for photographs which was a bonus. The bikes are easy to ride and most of the journey is flat apart from one hill, which isn’t very difficult. I would recommend that you do this either on a sunday or a public holiday as a lot of roads are closed to vehicles and it makes the trip a lot safer and easier! The tour lasted 4 hours which was plenty of time to get around and you don’t need to pay until the end of the tour. Also, if you did not like the tour, you do not need to pay - but I know you definitely will. I would thoroughly recommend you add this to your To Do list if you are visiting Rio, even for a couple of days. The next time I ride a dutch bike will be when I visit the Netherlands and sadly not Rio, but if I get the chance to go back to this awesome city I will be booking a Riobybike tour for sure! Have fun!
I loved this tour! This tour covers most interesting sightseeing attractions and history you need to know. Bicycles are very comfy and knowledge of Bruno about history are amazing.
I participated in the Urban Bike Tour with a friend - riding around Rio for 3 hours. Had a fabulous time; 3 hours of relaxed bike riding around the city was the ideal way to explore and have a safe introduction to the colourful city of Rio. The tour guide was super friendly and accommodating; shared information about Rio City and provided a fun/safe environment. Rio is a super easy city to ride around and lovely to be out in the sunshine experiencing all Rio has to offer. Would recommend to anyone wanting a fun activity!
Excellent tour with a knowledgeable and engaged guide (Ulysses!) who showed us parts of the city we wouldn’t have otherwise seen. He also had great recommendations for food/drinks/activities. The ride itself is really flat and on easy bike paths so even a novice rider will have a great time.
It was a very nice tour with a small group. The tourguide was very good and he was able to tell a lot about the city. The tour takes around 4 hours, before we knew the tour was over. It was my second time here and its still one of the best ways to discover Rio. The bikes are very nice and relaxt.
My husband and I chose to take a bike tour on our very first morning in Rio. Our guide was Matt who was so knowledgeable and an absolutely terrific and fun guide. The trails and neighbourhoods we explored were so much fun. It was just the perfect pace and it gave us a great overview of exactly the parts of Rio we were interested in checking out. We loved it so much that we rented bikes on another day and did much of the same route and also explored a few other areas. At the end of the week we both felt that biking along Copacabana and Ipenema was our favourite part of all our Rio excursions.
I went on this Ride after being in Rio De Janeiro for one day. The guide Ivan was fluent in English as well as other launguages to accomodate all the nationalitys that where on the ride. Any questions along the way he was more than willing to answer and made sure even if you where the only English speaking person on the tour took time to repaeat everything in your launguage to you. We covered allot of the history and sights along the way with Ivan having a vast knowledge of current events and acctivities as well as an accurate knowldge of History of Rio. I found on another tour that I did the guide was not as well informed of the history and when I looked into its Ivan's accounts where accurate. The ride did go over time and there was no rush to get us back to complete the tour.
Such a great way to see the City of Rio. Gisele was an excellent tour guide. She knew her way around perfectly, was very informative and fun. Our bike tour lasted 3 hrs and spanned approximately 25km. It was very manageable, we could have gone for much longer! We were able to see and learn so much in such a short time. My favorite aspect of the tour was biking through areas and neighborhoods one would rarely see as a tourist and feeling comfortable throughout. Booking was simple and quick. The bikes were ready upon our arrival, the tour was explained and off we went. Would recommend Rio by Bike Tours to everyone, such an excellent way to experience a new city.
It is very easy to contact the guys via phone or their website and they respond very fast. Payment is possible at the day of your tour and saves you the hassle of sending money online. The tour itself is fun and especially in Rio's summer, it is way nicer to take a tour by bike and getting a bit of a breeze rather than walking. Several stops are made on the way and lots of information are provided. I learned a lot about the histrory of the different neighbourhoods and Brazil in general. My guide Philip (who is also one of the two founders) spoke perfect English, but I reckon other languages are available (e.g. a french group was doing the tour with a french-speaking guide on the same morning). The bikes are in very condition and it was easy to drive around following Philip's advices on shifting gears and on traffic in Rio. Make sure to make a stop somewhere to grab a refreshing coconut!
Took the Panorama tour on a Sunday; Julie was our French and English speaking guide. Group of seven cyclists, mixed ages. Very relaxed, well-informed, friendly way to get a feel for city sights and sounds. You have to be comfortable maneuvering in some patches of traffic and around pedestrians on the more or less crowded stretches of beachside biking paths, but we had no real problems and Julie was obviously experienced and capable. Would have been hard to figure out the route or follow it without her, and her commentary was great. Would certainly recommend!
We take urban bike tours quite a bit on vacation. I'd put this in the top % in terms of strenuousness - almost 30 kilometers, moving at a clip even a sport California family found (too) brisk. Super hot too (but we expected that). Our guide, a Frenchwoman by birth, was super sporty and well fit and at times it felt more like a workout for her than an experience for us. She did not turn around nearly enough and would have lost us near completely a few times if we did not sprint to catch up to her. It was a shame, because otherwise it was a tremendous way to see the city of Rio. So I'd recommend you connect with the service in advance and make sure the tour guide arranged for you is suited to your wishes.
Marco was an excellent guide with great inside knowledge of Rio. I enjoyed getting out on the bikes rather than sitting in a bus. It was a great way of getting a feel for the city and the general layout. I would highly recommend this tour.
It was my first day in Rio and a great way to get a first impression of Rio de Janeiro..and at the same time very relaxing, because you do not have to worry where to go and it were comfortable bikes.......we passed over surprising special biking paths the highlights of the city .....and our guide gave a very interesting introduction of the all different aspect of Brazilian life, including its very tumultuous history, its music, sports and social economic issues. It was very worthwhile and stimulated me very much to explore the city further on my own...
After traveling solo for a bit in Rio, it was great to get in on a small, active group and see the city and learn about it! Marco gave great insight to the past, present, and future of Rio. The stops were unique and it was great to see some new spots in Rio without having to plan or figure out transportation. Nice easy ride with good breaks planned in.
This bike tour was a great way to see Rio, and our guide Julie had lots of insights into the city. The meeting pace was near Copa Cobana, and then we road around the city, stopping to see Sugar Loaf, the Lagoon, Ipanema and more. Great picture taking. It was a nice long ride but not too strenuous either. Bring water as it gets very hot!
A great way to see Cococabana and surrounds - excellent tour guide who took time to sell the history and set out what was a good way to see and feel the experience of RIO. Well thought out route and good bikes.

Thank you for the tour in Rio. We appreciated this tour and liked the comments of the guide.
Moreover, a map of the city at the beginning of the tour to show us the itinerary could help to understand the structure of the city, especially for travelers who just arrived.
For the security of bikers, it could be perhaps appreciated to wear a life jacket and a bike helmet.
It would be also appreciated if the guide look more often behind him to make sure all bikers follow him.
We haven't been lucky with the weather unfortunately, as it was raining a lot. It happens rarely in Rio.
Otherwise, it was a good tour. We saw the quarters of Copacabana, Ipanema, Botafogo and the Lago. We stopped for a snack in a backery. I recommend the tour.

Great tour, the bikes are in good condition, the people who work there are super friendly and the places you visit are amazing. I would definitely take this tour again.

I would definitely recommend this tour, and the staff are very very professional, and courteous! I had an amazing time!

Simply sensational, of all the tours I did this was without a doubt the best. The guide extremely attentive and careful with the group. I absurdly recommend patience, I was 5 minutes late because I was not meeting Uber and they were very attentive and understanding. EXCELLENT WALK, DO IT.
Great tour and guide. Enthusiastic and good stories about the city. Great cycling and doable for everyone. Good way to explore city.
The trip was perfect, the super attentive and careful guide, a beautiful tour on the banks of Rio de Janeiro, amazing. One of the most beautiful tours I have ever done, super recommend especially for bicycle lovers.
We made a super fun bike ride with Marco, Dutch guide in Rio. Small group, and because of that we were able to adjust the tour a bit to places we hadn't been yet. Marco told about Rio and the Brazilian society in an authentic way. We have cycled in many cities around the world and this was one of the most personal. Thank you, Marco!
Great experience I really recommend! A great way to discover rio! Guide to the Top Not too physical
We took the bike tour and loved it! It was a different and entertaining way to tour the city, Zan our guide was very friendly and attentive, made us have an amazing time! We recommend this walk do not miss it! It's worth it.
Excellent alternative to know the heart of Rio de Janeiro. A fascinating experience. Far from the best of our stay.
We did the 3-hour city tour with my sister. We took a walk in which we met streets, avenues, places that only by bike you can admire. Our guide was 10!!! Friendly, warm, explained everything and the best, in excellent Spanish. I would do it again for sure!!!
Nice to discover the city by bike. Our bike tour took about 4 hours and went from the Copacobana to the old town center. Along the impressive cemetery and the tiled stairs. Tour is about 27 kilometers
great to get a tour of the city with a "local" ( dutchman ( san ) who has lived in Rio for 4 years). Beautiful stories and a super bike ride with all the highlights of Rio and more. This was a really great experience and I can really recommend this to everyone! This was the reason for us to stay longer in Rio!! what a great city. we did the bike ride with our family ( three kids )
We were in Rio with a tour company with several families with teenagers. We wanted to explore the city of Rio by bike and ended up at Rio by Bike. We split the group into 2, the teenagers and the parents. Jan Willem has guided the teenagers which is quite an achievement. And he did a great job. Nothing but compliments heard. And Philip showed the parents around. Both men know how to give a lot of background information and pay close attention to the info needs of the group. So praise for both men and definitely recommended!!! Jan Willem also accompanied our city tour (via bus) and visited a football match in the evening. So the name Rio by bike does not cover the load, they can do much more!
The Rio by Bike Tours team is very friendly and knowledgeable about the city and country. Highly recommended. Friendly team with good knowledge of city and country. Strongly recommended
We did the Ultimate Rio tour of 7 hours with the Dutch guide Jan. He has lived in Rio de Janeiro for years, and therefore had a lot of fun stories to tell. Meanwhile, you cycle through the main districts of the city, along the famous beaches (Ipanema, Copacabana, Flamengo). It was very relaxed cycling, because this city has many bike paths. It's really the best way to explore the city. Just do it!
We were in Rio to run the marathon and decided to join the bike tour on the 1st morning: what a good plan. It was really lovely to cycle and we got a lot of information and tips about Rio: a piece of history, what is it like to live in Rio as a Dutchman, a good restaurant, a nice Samba bar etc. We have enjoyed it all week: THANKS!
I got the bike tour recommended by acquaintances. It was a really great experience, the 25km bike tour flew by and was a great highlight of my journey to get to know the city in a different way. Gisely was our tour guide, likeable, open-minded and brought you even closer to the feeling of Rio. Thanks for that.:)
Discovering Rio under the inspiring guidance of our guide Jan Willem was a great experience. He has shared his extensive knowledge of the city and the country with us in an inspiring way. A truly wonderful experience that we think back on with great pleasure. Next to Rio we also went to Petropolis for a day with Jan Willem (by car though). Also taken care of by him completely fine, in short: highly recommended!
Together with my husband we did this bike tour, of more than 3 hours, accompanied by the Dutch guide Jan Willem. It was a super fun trip and along the way we stopped several times and were told nice stories. The bikes were perfectly fine, and that is not always the case when you go cycling abroad. We cycled along the lake, Ipanema and Copacabana. Highly recommended in my opinion.
