Great Day Trip seeing all the sites of Rio. Our guide was very helpful, polite and full of energy. He had to do the tour in 3 languages which I found very impressive. We were picked up 30mins late with no warning so this started the tour off in a bad way however I can not fault the rest of the tour. Good value for money and enough time allocated for all activities. The bus was clean and the driver drove us everywhere safely with the great tour. The lunch was a buffet with pasta, meat, chips etc which was nice. I really enjoyed the whole day and thought the trip was great value for money and a great way to see all the sites of rio in one day. We booked this trip through get your guide.

Itinerary
Copacabana Beach is the most famous beach in the city (maybe even in the country, or in the world) and is about 4 km long. Among the trademarks is its boardwalk with waves drawn in Portuguese stone, designed by famous brazilian landscaper Burle Max. In Copacabana you will testify why cariocas have such a beautiful tan. While you travel through these neighborhoods, you will hear a few tips on what to do around them and the interesting stories that took place in these streets.
You will pass through the historic Laranjeiras neighborhood, which hosts the Guanabara Palace, the ancient home of Princess Isabel who signed the Golden Law to free all slaves. Nowadays, the Palace is the official headquarters of the government of Rio de Janeiro.
Before reaching downtown you will pass next to the Sambodrome, where the Samba School Parade happens every year.
See from outside and get inside the iconic Metropolitan Cathedral which was built in a pyramidal form with an internal diameter of 96 meters and a height of 80 meters.
You will make your way to Urca through Aterro do Flamengo and its parks, designed by Burle Marx and hear all about Brazil’s participation in World War II as well as the founding of the city back in the late 1500s, just before arriving to Sugar Loaf.
Pass by the beautiful neighborhood that hosts one of the main sights of Rio de Janeiro, the Sugar Loaf Mountain.
The first cable car takes you to Urca Hill, a vantage point 215 meters high for which already grants beautiful views of Guanabara Bay and its islands, Flamengo and Botafogo beaches, Santos Dummont Airport, the Rio-Niterói Bridge, Urca’s neighborhood and Corcovado Mountain.
A second cable car takes you up to the top. When you get there, you will understand why Rio is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. At 395 meters you’ll enjoy breathtaking views from Copacabana beach, Niterói and the Santa Cruz fortress. From up there, you will have no trouble understanding why Rio is nicknamed “Wonderful City”.
After visiting Sugar Loaf Mountain, you will head down to an all-you-can-eat-style barbecue house. Brazilian Churrascarias (Barbecue places) offer a wide variety of sides and alternative options, in case you decide to stick with a vegetarian option, you will still leave delighted. Lunch is included only if option selected. If selecting an option without lunch, our guide will offer a variety of nearby suggestions that can fit any budget or taste!
Located between Arpoador and Jardim de Alah, it is one of the most famous beaches in the country (Have you ever heard "Girl from Ipanema"?) and one of the busiest in the city. About 2 km long, some areas of the beach have strong waves and currents, and can be used for sports.
Catch up nice views from the Leblon beach, where you can get a great perscpective of the Morro Dois Irmãos (Two Brothers Hill)
Pass by the famous Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. The lagoon is connected to the Atlantic Ocean, allowing sea water to enter by a canal along the edge of a park locally known as Jardim de Alah.
Take a lap around the stadium and have a short stop so you can appreciate the splendor of the two-time World Cup Finals host. There you will be able to imagine the amount of history that took place since its opening in 1950 when Brazil hosted its first World Cup. You will see the stadium from outside only.
Get to Cosme Velho train Station, where you will catch the train to reach the Corcovado Mountain. Skip the line with pre-reserved, so you won't waste your time with long lines!
Upon reaching Cosme Velho Station, sitting at the bottom of Corcovado Mountain, we will catch the train with pre-reserved tickets to save time and it will take you up to the top, through the dense Tijuca Rainforest to the 38m tall (125ft) Christ Redeemer Statue. The 20 minute ride up will give you a chance to thoroughly appreciate the Tijuca Forest, which is considered to be the largest urban forest in the whole world. It represents 7% of the whole city`s territory! It’s breath taking and that alone already makes the trip well worth it.
Upon arriving at the Statue, you will have two options of reaching the top, by a lift and then an escalator, or the traditional way, by stairs, 222 Steps, but the prize makes it all worthwhile. Once up, the views and the imposing statue will take your mind off the walk up! Looking up you will feel blessed and protected by this beautiful monument of Christ with open arms, now one of the new Seven Wonders of the World! From up there you can see most of the city, all of the south zone and all the way to Niteroi. A unique view that will astound you. You will have about 40 minutes to get to know all the sides and views of Corcovado and take pictures.

We were picked up at the hotel in the morning the 3 of us (1 year old son). Good comfortable car with good air-conditioning. Warley the guide is part of Gray Line Brasil. He made us feel really like a first class service. . We did a lot of the visits (church, Sugar Loaf, Christ the redeemer, Arco da Lapa). we didnt queue anywhere, even though a lot of people did everywhere we went (thats probably why its called Jump the queue). Lunch stop was traditional Churrascao - Brazilian BBQ. Lots of various meats come at you after you have the biggest buffet of salads and entrees you have ever seen.
This tour takes the train to Christ the Redeemer which is what I wanted. We went on a Sunday which is busy but our guide knew the best times so we avoided any waiting. The pace was just right. We ate at the end to avoid queues and I am glad that we did, the buffet meal is really big and really good.
Perfect way to see it all in one day. Great guide and drive. Felt safe in a city that has a reputation to be overwise.
The views from Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf mountain are fantastic! Luciana was a very knowledgeable guide - with amazing fluency across three languages - and very friendly.
Everything went great from start to finish I love how everything was organized in time management the guy was very useful and knowledgeable of Brazilian culture history and food he was a very kind humble has lost a patience or recommend this tour I give it top five star
Mr Warley is very well behaved and jolly minded tour guid. Me and my brother are highly impressed by his narration of Rio city and his witty jokes. We both highly recommending him to attached to other foreign tourists so that he can serve more tourist and kept a positive impression of Rio in tourist mind. Thank you and god bless Warley. Take care welcome to Bangladesh..
Great tour, excellent lunch. Rained the whole day but was still fun I mucked up the start time but it was no big deal, they very kindly transferred us to the next day. The lunch was a highlight of my whole trip
Hassle free tour for first timer in Rio led by amazing Warley. The pace of the tour was perfect, allowing us to enjoy the atmosphere and capture some amazing photos. I appreciated the small group size of different people from around the world, and being a solo traveller, Warley was able to keep everyone engage. Overall, this tour was the highlight of my trip in Rio, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the tourist attractions
Excellent guide Warley and driver Amir. Warley explained the history of the city in an engaging and entertaining way. The trip was super smooth and the rodizio lunch brilliant. Highly recommended tour.
This was a quirky day for people to compare. First of all, it rained buckets. It was so cloudy that there were only occasional sightings of Christo in the clouds -- even on the platform. Second, we were looking forward to the train but for some reason it wasn't running. Now this MIGHT be a deal killer especially with the bad weather also. We had a small group with a comfortable van and a knowledgeable tour guide who was so very personable. He was very clear about identifying the neighborhoods we entered and points of interest. We made some additional stops not mentioned in the description. I don't know if we would have seen them if the train was running. It included the beautifully tiled Escalera and gift shops. We didn't take the lunch and the guide dropped us right at our hotel so we didn't need to find other transportation. This wasn't the tour we signed up for but it was absolutely worth it.
Excellent tour. Wonderful tour guide, Patricia, and the driver. Very knowledgable. Jan 27, 2024 was the day of our tour.
Luiz was such a wonderful guide! He did the tour in English and Spanish for different clients and no information was missed! Small group of 10 people, we never felt rushed and Luiz was attentive throughout the whole experience, so a big thanks to Luiz! Only negative is the restaurant felt a bit like a tourist trap and was super overpriced and food was rushed at you making it not an enjoyable experience.
Christ the Redeemer & Sugar Loaf Mountain. The lunch was excellent. Would strongly recommend this tour.
It’s not fair to book a 5 hour tour with two venues listed and end up doing more venues during a 12 hour tour! I lost another evening tour I had book elsewhere. What I booked was on a certain day and confirmed. The day before at 9pm I receive an email saying that the tour is fully booked and transferred to the day after! I had no choice but to accept. I lost a day! The day after I was collected and after half an hour I realised that the tour was not half a day which I booked but a full day! I had another tour booked in the late evening and so I had to choose which one to loose! Obviously after waiting two days to see Christ redeemer and sweet loaf mountain. I never book full day tours! They are exhausting and other people on the tour complained just the same!
Disaster from start to end . Booked the trip and no one showed up .. then they told us was fully booked so we go next day but on trip advisor it was confirmed that I booked the tour for that particular date. Then when they picked us up ..15 mins late ..no problem... We spent 1.5 hr more to pick other ppl up ... At 10 am the tour started at places we did not book. A city tour. I asked the tour leader if we r on d right tour ... His reply Infront of a whole bus was... with or without u it's gonna be done ! We had done that d day before so we didn't want to do it but obviously we had no choice after we had paid more than 200 euro... At 1.30 pm one of the excursion started ... It's true that we skipped some ques but due to a big group we still had to wait a lot... Instead of a 5/6 hr tour this was a 12 HR tour becoming to an end after 7.30 that we got a taxi back home. Don't have words for this disaster.... All the ppl in d tour (some booked online or at a hotel desk) were told something different and at the end everyone had to do same thing!
Terrible. The tour guide left us at the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. We had to make our way down on our own and I fell and injured myself. There was little concern or attention to this matter. Also, the guide did not stop at all the sites listed in the itinerary. This was one of the worst tours I have ever taken. The guide provided very little information about the sites. Very poorly organized and executed, not to mention we spent 90 minutes in the van picking up other guests before starting the tour. Never again. Stay away!
Horrible experience. Lunch is scheduled for mid/late afternoon rather than noon which makes absolutely no sense. Guests are starving by that time. Even worse, they allow some guests to do off-the-cuff activities, holding up rest of the tour, making everyone else wait for them. For us this cause at least an hour delay to the tour, with us not reaching lunch location until almost 4pm. Horrendous experience, do not book this tour. Horrible operator. Would give 0 stars if possible.
We had an amazing tour with two Luises: a driver and a tour guide that were so helpful and very good at what they do. Luis driver mastered the mountain road making it such an adventure for us watching the bus “flying” on that narrow road like 3Dgame. And our lovely tour guide Louis was so good with people and their names but more over so knowledgeable on all the masterpieces we’ve got to see speaking absolutely fluent in five languages. I would highly recommend this tour. Just make sure you get both Louises and if you stand between them holding their arms you can make a wish that will certainly become true.:))
Amazing team! Proffesionals for sure. Beautiful explanation of spots and history. If I ever visit Rio de Janeiro again, I'll be more than happy booking with them again. Cheers fellas!
Our guide, Luis was a very nice person, spoke English very well. The pick-up was right on time. The lunch was an amazing one but for some reason, no drinks are included, not even water. The only downside was that the trip says its a train ride to the Christ The Redeemer but we were taken by an elevator probably because the queue for the train was a long one. But, I believe the Tour Organizers should anticipate this and promise only what they can deliver. Apart from this bummer, the tour went very well. They give you enough time to click pictures. :)
Great experience. Our tour guide and driver were amazing. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, funny and respectful.
Semi-private tour with very friendly guide and driver and one other couple - much easier than with a large van. Plenty of time at Sugar Loaf and Cristina Redentor. Did not see stadium (closed) but visited Selaron staircase.
Luis was great... well informed answered any questions and was right on time... I would use Grayling again.
Great experience. Gus was truly amazing. He picked us up, provided great facts about the city and country. He was professional, funny and overall a great tour guide. I would highly recommend.
This tour was booked by our travel company and was not as our given itinerary. We were picked up 30 mins late and as one of the last to be collected we had to sit at the back of the bus. The minibus had 2 steps up to these seats so our vision was of the luggage shelf only . When the guide began describing sights to the left or right we could crouch down to try and get a fleeting view of the building that was passing by the side windows. We stopped at the cathedral for 20 mins at which point the guide agreed the bus was inappropriate and let us sit in the front seats next to the driver . Much better views indeed. Then we started queuing for Sugar loaf mountain and as they had reduced the numbers in the cars because of Covid 19 this took some time. The guide later said he could have come here first to avoid the queuing ....however we did enjoy the views eventually. Consequently we were late for the very good included lunch which was rushed and then moved on to the Christ the Redeemer part of the trip with a different guide as the company had clearly put a morning tour together with an afternoon one . This was enjoyable and again the views were excellent . However 2 parts of the full day trip were missed out ;the market and the football ground. Don’t use this company if others with good reviews are available
Bus was an hour late picking us up to start with. Then tour guide / headphones were off for most of the guided tour so couldn't get pictures of the attractions that were described. Lunch was a cluster. The restaurant was not ready for us and we were rushed to eat by the time we got in. Instead of picking up additional guests for the afternoon tour while we were eating we had to go back to copacobana area to get them first and then to christ the redeemer. afternoon tour guide barely spoke at all - hardly any commentary in any language. we did NOT stop at all at the stadium as described but flew by it too fast to get any pictures. by the time we got to christ the redeemer, what had started as a bright and sunny day, had turned cloudy. the cloud cover had come in and we could not see it or get any pictures. We asked to stay a few minutes longer as it looked like the clouds were clearing and were not allowed. by the time we got town the mountain the clouds had cleared and everyone that stayed could get good pictures. It was very disappointing and frustrating. I've travelled around the world and this was the worst city tour I've been on. guides did not listen to the travelers or take into consideration this might be the only time we are in their city - make it a positive experience. I would never recommend this tour to anyone.
Trip was advertised as English but the tour guide spoke in Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese mainly. He barely spoke English and not very well. They picked us up almost an hour after our start time. After 7 hours on the tour we only saw 1 attraction. We left early and skipped the rest of the tour because of the delays and lack of leadership from the tour guide. Overall we were very disappointed with this experience and felt like it was a huge waste of our time and money. Would never recommend this to American tourists.
Great tour, we saw everything. Just wished it would have stop raining.Surgar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer statue was a bucket list thing for me. Magnificent
More than 2 hours wasted on waiting for the bus. Visit to Maracana was to outside gate. Arrival to Christ later on the day with clouds covering city. Next time skip the fake visit to stadium and go straight to the Christ. Bus too big and with too many people which makes the group hard to manage. Too crowded restaurant. Bad business from trip advisor. Quality price balance outrageous compared to local prices.
Booked indirectly by our travel agent as part of a fully inclusive trip. We were only in Rio for two nights and this was an all day trip between them. Picked up early and do obliged to sit whilst we visited several other hotels to fill the coach. The visit to Sugar loaf was marvelous, Leandro was clear, helpful and informative. At the puck up he announced he would only be with us for the morning, sad! The lunch, a Brazilian Barbecue was fantastic and very filling, then we had a twent minute gap and were advised to do some window shopping (!) This shouldn’t be part of our tour we thought. Then after regrouping we were split in two groups, some were returning On our coach to their hotel as they only had a half day, but the rest of us would be picked up on a new coach. But it didn’t come. We waited almost an hour in a busy shopping street until it arrived with a new guide, it was however the same coach, but with all different people. The drive across town at 4pm was dreadful with Friday traffic, but to be honest the visit to Christ the Redeemer and Corcovado was really worth the hassle. So all in all a great tour but really Gray Lines, you’re chasing the buck at the expense of your clients!!
Had a great time on this tour. It was very organized. There were only about 10 people on this tour which was really nice. It was rainy and cloudy so by the time we got to Christ the redeemer, we couldn’t see anything.
10,000 thanks to Simon Leo - our tour guide for the majority of the day - he was so very pleasant, funny, and helpful. He really made our day, which, by the way, was pretty spectacular!
The all day tour was well done despite the weather. Lenardo was a great tour guide, we was very personable and adjusted the tour at the beginning in hopes the weather would clear for the tram rides. He was very informative, and personable. I'm not sure why tour guides, and buses were changed at lunch. The tour guide after lunch was Joe, and he wasn't as personable or informative as Lenardo. All in all it was a good day.
We had to book this tour last minute as the other tour company we booked with pulled out. I’m glad they did cancel. Such a good tour. Our guide was really good, friendly and had good tips on where and where not to go. Plenty of time at each attraction to see it fully and get some good photos. My old advice is if you get car sick or motion sickness take something for it. Nothing to do with the drivers just the roads aren’t the best and the road up to Christ of Redeemer is really windy.
We had bad weather all day. Our tour guide for sugar loaf was nice and gave a lot of free time to enjoy the view. Our afternoon tour guide die the Chris redeemer was a little strange. He doesn’t interact with us. We can’t really understand him well.
We booked this experience with Grayline through our hotel - and it seemed to be a mashup of events not a coordinated tour. We received a Sugarloaf, Christ the redeemer and limited city tour with "Football" and Samba stadiums. We expected to pick up and drop off fellow travelers at their hotels - but not multiple times during the day (morning pickups, drop offs before lunch, pick ups after lunch and drop offs after tour). The result is we started the tour with about 20 people and finished with over 30 people - over half new from when we started. In all we experienced over 2 hours of logistics waiting for the bus and driving to the hotels. Additionally each section had a new guide - the first was excellent with great English as well as Spanish and German. The 2nd was very quiet. And the third prioritized Spanish as his main explanation voice. The actual stops were good and lunch was well done. Good on Paper - Poor execution.
Great tour, great people, JB is the best ...! They picked me up a little late but after that was fine. The stake house for lunch, delicious food.
We booked through our hotel. Unfortunately the reception had to call the company after we waited for 20 minutes after pickup time. Not sure if mistake was hotel or tour operator! This meant we were included in a trip to Corcovado and then had to include Sugarloaf with guide on our own, which really turned into a private tour. 😆 Great locations, chaotic crowds, interesting bus ride but wouldn’t miss it. Guide was not very good on first part of tour but, once we were on our own with her, she became very attentive and informative.
We did the full day trip as recommended by our hotel. We only did the sugar loaf and christ the redeemer and it took us the whole day from 8am to 6pm. We spent most of our time in the bus collecting people and then for lunch we sat it the restaurant for 1hr and 30 mins. Very disappointed with this tour. I expected they would also take us to Saint Theresa to see the mosaic steps but we had to do that the next day on our own. Very disappointed as we had very little time in Rio.
Excellent tour! Friendly and knowledgeable guides and very well organized. Beautiful scenery and delicious lunch.
It is a landmark for any traveler. There is a lot of steps to climb and the platform is busy with every visitor trying to catch the best picture but it worse it
Great half day trip with no time wasted. The tour guide was engaging and helped us get through all the lines quickly!
It looks a lot higher from the cable car than it does from the mountain top , fantastic views all over RIO, Well organised operation but did seem a bit expensive compared to the visit to the redeemer . Lots of things to do at the top besides the view, plenty of places to eat and drink . Two rides on the cable car to get to the top, would not have missed it great day .
Any pictures you see of the Mountain and a statue cannot even do it justice compared to what you see in real life! It is truly magnificent, incredible, and amazingly beautiful to see Rio down below. Any money that you might tend to just go up there is so well worth it! This is truly an experience of a lifetime!
This s a must, but you need to go on a clear day, it can get very foggy up there , you won't see a thing, but if the weather is clear, then it will be a view, of a life time, that will stick in your memories, it's a Must
I was visiting Rio for a work trip, but was on my own for site seeing. I booked the afternoon tour (which starts around 2:00) just after noon. They picked me up at my hotel in Copacabana shortly after 2:00. I was greeted in the lobby by Carlos, our tour guide, who immediately put me at ease about my solo adventure. We drove around for about 45 more minutes picking up other travelers at their various hotels. Carlos was great at introducing the travelers to people they shared things in common with. I ended up befriending two other solo travelers who were also there on business. We had a great time. One note about the afternoon tour, when you get to Christ the Redeemer, the sun is behind the statue. So it makes it difficult to get good pictures. But then when you get to Sugarloaf, you should catch the view just after sunset, before last light.
A great tour. Good pace and interesting. Both guides were good. Loved both the cog train up to Christ the redeemer and cable car to the sugar loaf. Would definitely recommend the tour.
Our trip began with an on time pick up at our hotel and we had a very comfortable cool bus throughout the day. It was over 90 degrees outside. What made the morning part of the tour so special was our guide, Luciana. She is a warm learned guide who is also a college history professor and speaks several languages. Like a good guide, she looks empathetically at you when speaking and is able to handle a tour in English and Spanish, easily moving from one language to the other. Her enthusiasm about Rio is contagious. Together we went to Sugar Loaf Mountain, visited central Rio visited the cathedral, and went to lunch at a good Brazilian churrascaria. The afternoon guide was OK and accompanied us to the red cog train that goes through the Tijuca Rainforest to reach the Christ the Redeemer statute atop Corcovado Mountain. It was quite a full day!
The tour & the guide itself was ok as far as tours go, but the sheer number of tourists 90% being Brazilians themselves over shadowed the true beuaty of the sights. These sights have become so commercialised that one is not even able to enjoy the beauty of them as u cant even get to stand against the balistrade and enjoy the view.
