The Racina favela walking tour was amazing. The area is very interesting, the residents were very friendly, and the sights were breath taking. My guide RAFAEL was the best. He knew so much about the area and was polite and professional. He arrived on time and waited with me for return ride. Priceless. Highly recommended!

Itinerary
To get to know the reality of the favela up close walking down the alleys of Rocinha and experience the day-to-day life of the community, knowing the way people live.
As the favela is very widespread, to order to access some amazing viewpoints, take a moto-taxi ride uphill to have an overview of Rocinha experiencing an incredible adrenaline through the narrow alleys.
Tourists visit community centers for the production of handicrafts and take a walk through the shopping area reaching the handcraft fair. Residents sell jewelries, decorative objects and souvenirs that enchants visitors.
Visit the Laboriaux viewpoint, the highest point in the favela, from where you have a privileged view of the beaches and slopes of the Tijuca Forest.
Visit the studio of one of the greatest graffiti artists in Rio de Janeiro. Native from Rocinha, Wark was a pioneer in the graffiti movement in the largest favela in Brazil, which attracted the attention and handshakes of prominent Brazilian leaders, including Lula da Silva, former president of Brazil. Wark also promotes frequent exhibitions in the city and receives hundreds of reais for his works. Wark also founded the Wark Institute, a school for young people in Rocinha to learn and practice art.
One of the main attractions of Rocinha is the visit to the home of Mrs.Maria, who has lived in the favela for 32 years. There is stunning view of São Conrado beach and the favela itself from the slab of her house.

My 73-year-old mother and I went on this tour today and was a day we will never forget!! Two women from the US completely out of our element, yet we were never concerned for our safety, The tour guide spoke very good English, and was extremely knowledgeable about the area because grew up there and still lives there. He treated us like family introducing us to his sister and many friends as we passed by. I have no words to describe how grateful we are to be able to go all the way to the top, be welcomed into actual homes, and learn so much along the way. Absolutely amazing experience!!
We spent a fun and informative few hours in the company of our excellent guide Carlos exploring the favela. We learned so much and saw places we could never have seen on our own. Highly recommended and very safe. Thanks Carlos!
Erik is one of the most communicative and interesting person I've met. His view of Rocinha is extremely deep and reliable, since he was born and raised in the Rocinha favela and is very engaged in the social issues of his community. He is an excellent guide to show you the favela walking through the alleys and offer an afternoon with lots of learning, listening to the stories of the place and interacting with the residents. Visiting Rocinha is one of the best experiences in Rio, where you can take excellent photos and eat the best savory snacks at the lowest price in the city. He is also the best person to show you Rocinha at night, where you can find restaurants serving northeastern and Japanese food at an excellent price, as well as endless bar options. And on this tour you will discover how Rocinha at night is one of the most lively places in the city. I definitely recommend the tour with Erik, he is an amazing and fun person to be with.
From the moment we met our guide Eric, we knew we were in for a special tour. As a local whose family has lived in Rocinha for generations we were given a unique perspective of how life is lived in the largest favela in Brazil. A thrilling motorbike ride took us through the incredibly steep and winding narrow road to the very top. Taking in breathtaking views of Rio, we stroll our way down. Along the way Eric described the social history and culture of the place, we learned about important community initiatives in health and education. Saw amazing unique buildings, and homes, as well as the bustling shops and markets. We ended at a fantastic local restaurant for lunch. It was our most special day in Rio - thanks Eric!
Incredible place, and quiet! And the guide was very caring, thoughtful all the way through. Eric tour is the best!
Erik was fantastic. I took my partner to Rocinha for the first time and wanted him to see rocinha with a local, and have a full experience: eat loca food, walk the alleys, learn about the history of Rocinha etc. we had it all with Erik, and it was a great and memorable experience for both of us. Highly recommend.
Rocinha is a great place to visit. You will find fantastic viewpoints where you can see beautiful landscapes. Erik, the tour guide, shows you the best places inside the favela and tells you about the culture and history of the area. During the visit, you have the opportunity to eat and buy stuff that will remind you of this ride. Go for it! I recommend!
Erik was a gracious host and represents rocinha authentically! The mototaxi was an adventure to start but a quick way to get to the top and work out way thru the favela. Visiting Sam and Jeana’s home was quite the treat! Wonderful people
I called for this tour at the last minute. Renardo was awesome and found a guide. My guide Roberto was a very nice young man. A gentleman at this age is not so easy to come by. We took the motorcycle ride almost to the top of the Favela which I really enjoyed. Roberto was very knowledgeable. He had lots of little tidbits about daily life, nightlife, schools and shopping. There is a hospital in the Favela that transfers patients to larger facilities when needed like any other small town would. This was a wonderful tour. I loved it!!
A must see adventure. Our guide Erik absolutely makes it with such passion for his home. See the real everyday life of people in the favela and a different side to Rio whilst still experiencing incredible views
The Mystery of the Rocinha tour also known as the largest Favela in Rio De Janeiro. One must take this tour to really understand the word Favela and how the community of people living there interact and survive on a daily bases. My wife and I begin this private tour with Bruno, our very skilled driver from the excellent tour company Gregtours. Bruno retrieved us from our hotel and drove us to meet Erik who gave us the guided tour of Rocinha. Bruno is a master driver as he skillfully navigated through the very busy and steep roads leading to the highest point of Rocinha in which we began our walking tour. Upon arriving at the highest point we made contact with little arm who is the well known all over that city. Erik introduced us to Little Arm who greeted us in his own way and we provided Little Arm with a small token of our appreciation ( a banana as little arm is the town’s small little monkey) we said our goodbye to Little Arm and Erik began loading us with information about the largest known Favela in Rio. My wife and I hint Erik with a load of questions and he answered each and everyone of them in great detail. Because Erik is also an English teacher and knows a lot about the United States, we were able to compare and contrast life in Rocinha to various cities in the United States as my wife and I live in the US. The tour was awesome, safe and well structured. I labeled this review as the Mystery of the Rocinha tour as what appears on the tour may not be what it seems and one must experience the tour, observe the people and ask the right questions. We loaded Erik with questions as were we amazed at what we were seeing. We learned that the folks at the highest point of the Rocinha live a little bit differently than the ones further down the mountain. We were taken through small alleys and various shorts cuts to reach the bottom of the hill while gaining knowledge of the people and areas were we passing through. IT WAS AWESOME!! My wife is a hard person to please and even she did not want the tour to end. She was very engaged and loaded Erik with questions. Once we got to the bottom of the hill we entered into my wife’s favorite activity ( shopping). Erik went from tour guide to translator as he begin helping us negotiate with the local merchants as we don’t speak Portuguese and Erik speaks perfect English. Erik escorted us back to Bruno who drove us back to our hotel. Before reaching back to our hotel, Bruno briefly stopped by the city called LeBlon which has the most scenic view of the ocean and small eating areas with awesome food ( my wife and I returned later of lunch) We were given contact numbers and advised if we needed anything while still in Rio give them a call and they would assist. Thank- You Bruno, Erik and Gregtours from making our vacation that much more special. Your professionalism, your devotion to job and compassion speaks for itself and reflects positively on the company and your work ethics JOB WELL DONE!!!
This was the highlight of our holiday. Erik our guide was superb. The Favela had a real community spirit feel about it. We stopped in a café and a bar and the locals were welcoming and friendly. Forget what you have read about Favela's. Go and see for yourself
Choose this tour and never regret! The tour is amazing, Erik is best guide you can find into the favela tour, as he is living there. Very informative tour , I’m very happy with my choice. Recommend to buy this one particular if you are looking for interesting favela tour
My favorite part of the Trip is actually being in a Fevela ,and actually seeing it in action , Camila was so kind and able to ask Any needed Questions.

Excellent tour. The guide guides us safely and objectively. It tells the story of the places we visit and presents us with a side of the community that the newspapers don't show. It's very worth it.
It was an incredible day. I was off work and it gave me new friends, culture and knowledge on the tour we took around Rocinha.
Interesting excursion to discover the Rocinha favela (the largest in South America) accompanied by an expert guide Erick who introduced us to the place in absolute safety. Don't miss a stop at Laboriux rocinha with an exceptional view of Rio de Janeiro. I will be back as soon as possible!!!
Great tour, I got to know Rocinha well, we went to great places to take photos. I found Erik to be super nice and lively, he communicates well. Know everything there
The welcome and security I felt were incredible, truly a unique experience, with those who throughout the journey brought real stories and made my moment unique.
Fantastic tour! Erik can place buildings, streets and architecture over time. He makes a chronological order of events as we go along. It's really worth it to get to know the largest in Latin America and demystify many pre-existing concepts. Erik, in addition to being an excellent guide, is a messenger. I highly recommend the experience!
The landscapes are incredible, we took lots of photos! Tour guide Erik gave us maximum attention when requested, beautiful view on the hill of Dois Irmãos, with lots of fun and healthy conversations.
Beautiful view, very pleasant walk, with lots of photos that will be treasured forever! and a great guide!
Erik is a great guide and knows a lot about the city of Rio and Rocinha. A tour full of learning. I highly recommend it, because in addition to the friendliness of the guide, he shows you places and tells stories that only local residents know and in complete safety.
Erik is a wonderful guide! Throughout the entire tour, he was attentive and always concerned about our well-being. and offering the best experience possible. Furthermore, Erik is knowledgeable about the historical aspects of the community, which made me admire his work. I really had an excellent experience with this dear local guide. It was a wonderful day! Erik, always attentive and polite, took me to places with the best views in addition to giving us a mega lesson on the history of Rocinha. We even went on a trail which I was enchanted by the view. Certainly one of the most incredible days! Thank you for this experience.
It's super worth it!! In addition to being a cool and unmissable activity, it is worth highlighting the wonderful reception shown by our illustrious Erik Martins. I highly recommend it!

I've lived in Rocinha for years and this experience gave me a new perspective on the place where I live, in addition to all the charisma and education, our guide Erik Martins, who is very attentive and knows everything "mexxxxmo" was perfect, I highly recommend it 😍
Great guide, very intelligent, polite, patient and fun! Family trip and at the end we still ate a lot together at a local restaurant
We took the tour with Erik, already confident because he had recommendations from two friends who loved it!! He has a very artistic view of the community. I say it was exciting, seeing so much poetry present through the eyes of a local resident. Thanks! We want to go back
It was a great experience where I met incredible people, the guide is very competent and attentive, as well as knowing the place very well, the tour was safe and pleasant, I recommend it.

The tour was incredible, super immersive and in addition to the tourist attractions, I had the opportunity to learn about the history of the favela in a very humanized way! I highly recommend taking this tour! The guide is very charismatic and attentive, he answered all the questions and did an incredible job!
Power transits the place with a much clearer idea of its history and the confidence that the guide belongs to the place.
A great experience! The view from the terrace that Carlos takes you to is spectacular!!! Highly recommended!
