My wife’s parents lived in Rio in 1945 and 1946. He was there as a US military liaison and they were sent there right after they were married. They reminisced often but never made it back. Our trip this year included Rio so we contacted Bruno based on reviews here. Through papers and diaries we were able to reconstruct places they lived and frequented. Due to housing shortages they moved frequently. Bruno customized a day trip that covered all of it, and he helped reconcile differences due to the 80 year gap. He interacted with locals to help get clarity. He found places to reconstruct photos they had taken. He found time to show us other tourist attractions. His driver Thio was outstanding and very patient. Any we were delivered back to our ship with plenty of time.

I did a 7 hour tour with Bruno (and a driver). It was excellent!!!!! Bruno does a great job of telling you interesting information, without overwhelming you. The tour is at a great pace - and a very fair price. I saw all the things I wanted to see - and even some things I didn’t know I wanted to see (but am happy that I did!!) From a stressful start when our original guide had a very last minute emergency, Bruno stepped in to help his friend and saved our day by completely taking us under his wing. He gave us an amazing day and introduction to Rio. We didn't really have a set itinerary in mind when we hopped into a cab with him, but within minutes he had everything under control, laid out a plan for the day and we were off. From there on we in his hands and he didn't disappoint. The morning had been stressful and I joked about needing a drink. We sped off from the cruise ship terminal and within minutes were sitting in the middle of a gritty favela bus terminal having ice cold beers at local beer stand. It was a perfect start and was our first indication that Bruno was in the know and we were in good hands. The day was a combination of driving and walking. On foot, Bruno took us to several sights in central Rio - churches and library of Portuguese literature. We climbed the Escadaria Selaron and rested up at local cafe before heading off to the San Sebastian cathedral. We finished up with Bruno escorting us up to the top of Sugar Loaf. To end the day Bruno and our cab driver navigated Rio's fierce traffic and drove us out to our hotel. An important key to the day was that we had a cab driver. This allowed Bruno to be our guide and we were able to hop in and out of the cab in order to see things while the cab waited or drove on to another meeting place. We didn't waste time looking for parking, or have a guide who was distracted by being the driver as well. Bruno is well connected to staff at just about every location we stopped at. He's a long time resident of the city and knows its ins and outs, and as a guide he takes full advantage of those connections to get his guests the best access and experiences. We were so happy and impressed with Bruno's knowledge, organization and passion for his work that we signed up for another day with him to tour Corcovado and walk through one of the favelas. The Christ statue is an obvious place visitors want to see and Bruno and his connections made getting up and down the mountain quick and easy. Where Corcovado is on everyone's list - a favela walking tour is not ... but perhaps should be. Bruno arranged for us to spend a couple of hours walking through the Rochina favela and it was a great experience. Again, using his connections and local knowledge we got to see a part of Rio that most visitors wouldn't immediately think about and it was well worth the steps. Bruno is passionate about his work and wants to show his Rio off to visitors. You won't go wrong taking one of his tours or letting him craft a day exploring Rio.

A wonderful experience with a guide who truly loves Rio and its people. We traveled to Rio de Janeiro Nov 19-26 and Bruno made our family vacation extra special and headache free. He was so helpful with restaurant and Uber tips before my arrival in Rio and helpful after the tour when I needed to ship some items home- so much more than a tour guide!!

Bruno was fantastic. I strongly recommend you take a tour with him. He is extremely passionate about the history of Rio and so knowledgeable. Bruno designed a two day itinerary for me that included walking through the city , travelling and walking through favalas, visiting Christ the redeemer, sugar loaf mountain , copapana beach plus all the lovely church’s and historic buildings. He included pick up and drop off from airport and hotel for me. The trip was flawless , everything ran to perfect time. He has so full of energy and enthusiasm. As a lone female traveller I felt completely safe (along with his driver who was like my own personal bodyguard)! Bruno uses a driver so he can’t dedicate all his time and effort on the tourist and provided me with a 5 star service. His driver was always waiting for us. The whole trip ran like clockwork. Bruno also knew all the perfect spots to take great photos to help me relive this holiday - my own personal tour guide and photographer!. My mind is filled with knowledge and facts about a great city and my heart is filled with love of the fantastic people I met in these two days. Bruno knows everyone!
