Luiza was a great guide, explaining the history and nature with perfect English as we travelled to several sites outside Rio. The first few stops at viewpoints and waterfalls were great, while short stops at a wetland and beach later on didn't have a lot of interest. It turned out to be a private tour with just me - as a solo traveller, I appreciate that they didn't have minimum numbers to run it. We stopped for lunch at a place with nice healthy options (salads, sandwiches, juice, acai). I would book with Jungle Me again, perhaps choosing a hiking tour in one location next time.

Itinerary
We'll visit the Penhasco Dois Irmãos Park, a cute nature park that is the limit between the beach area and the rainforest and mountains. You'll be a bit higher up with great views to Ipanema and Leblon beaches and also to Lagoon and Christ Redeemer. (there´s some walking but not hiking up the Dois Irmãos hills).
The Chinese View summit has one of the best views in Rio and is one of the very few places where you can see and capture Sugar Loaf and Christ Redeemer in the same frame. The scenic spot also has a pagoda built with chinese style to honor a group of chinese farmers who immigrated in the beginning of the 1900s.
Taunay Waterfall is the highestin the Tijuca Forest National Park and really loved by locals. We'll stop close to the falls to admire its beauty, feel its drops and also visit an old bridge built in 1860 that is now mixed and composed with the tropical ranforest around. Amazing spot for pictures and to feel "inside the forest' and away from the city.
Stopping by this summit, we'll be able to see Pedra da Gavea, the highest monolith close to the ocean in the world, and Pedra Bonita, the mountain where the hang-gliders take off. These 2 beautiful mountains are part of the amazing and unique Rio de Janeiro landscape and you'll have a very close angle view with the mountains, the forest and the ocean. After this attraction, we'll stop for a lunch break.
After the break for lunch, we'll visit Marapendi Park, a mangrove and lagoon area. On this park, we'll take a 10 min. walk (it´s flat terrain - no hiking up). On the lagoon, it´s possible to see capybaras and caimans and also some more wildliefe like birds, lizards and more. This stop reveals how much different the eco-systems can change within Rio limits.
Prainha is a small, protected and secluded beach on the West Zone of Rio, considered the best surfing spot in the city. It's very scenic, with rainforest, mountains and rocks all around. We'll have the chance to visit it, take some pictures and maybe drink some coconut water enjoying the lush of this area.
Viewpoint on the West RIo, inside Prainha Nature Park with amazing view to the 'Sleeping Giant', the mountain rage of Rio that is also a local legend.

Great Day through all the nature parks and along the atlantic beaches of Rio d. J. with the best guide ever, multilingual teaching us in history, culture, botanics, flora and fauna, nature the whole day long so that the group ( we: a german couple of more than 60 years old and two young men from middle and south America ) had so much fun in accompanying him to the most beautiful Prainia beach and having a most delicious meal and a nice swimming in the sea there.
A truly wonderful experience; perfectly consistent with what was described on the website. Gustavo was an exceptional guide: knowledgeable, kind, and very friendly! He explained so much about Rio, its history, and the local flora and fauna. My daughter and I felt very safe; we saw beautiful places and enjoyed the day effortlessly and without worries. Thank you, Jungle Me! Guide Gustavo Highly recommended!
I went on this tour with biologist guide Louiza. The tour was incredible! The forest and park was magical! Our guide was a true expert about the plants, animals and history of the park. We saw fantastic plants, waterfalls and ruins. A wonderful day - I highly recommend this tour and Louiza is the best!
Great day with Luiza, we visited a lot of Beautiful spots and she gave a lot of interesting information and it was a lot of fun!
For nature lovers this is a must. The forest, the mountains, the waterfalls and stunning views, you have it all.The tour guide was very knowledgeable and did very best to show what the other side of Rio is. It was a wonderful experience. I would recommend it to everybody who wants to experience nature at its best.
The guide is very knowledgeable and friendly and the information provided was interesting. One downside (which I was not expecting) was that the tour involves quite a few hours of sitting in the car in order to drive between the stops.
We had a fantastic day with Ricardo; His explanations were very detailed and clear; We would definitely take another trip with Jungle Me!
Very knowledgeable and accommodating tour guide. We enjoyed and learned about Rio & around through this tour. Also, meeting and getting to know others in our tour. Highly recommend!!
Incredible experience with an exceptional, attentive, passionate, dynamic and friendly guide, Ricardo. Excellent value for money. We recommend for a personalized and unforgettable excursion.
We are a group of 6 and Renata is our tour guide. She speaks English very well and she is fantastic. She is very charming and easy to talk. She took us to many different places. At each stop, she explained very well and she even brought a history map to tell us abut Brazil's history. The tour from 8 am to 5pm, we all really enjoyed the tour. I am strongly recommend Reneta for your tour guide, you will not regret to choose her and the jungle tour. Very worthest the money.
A great day out with Renate and Thomas. They are both very friendly and knowledgeable about Rio and the plants and animals. It was so nice to see all the beautiful places that are close by. The day that I went, we were lucky enough to see a capybara up close as well as other animals and birds. They fitted in so much and it was always at a comfortable pace. I would definitely recommend to anyone that loves nature.
As a family group with 3 small children we had booked the Rio Eco Secrets tour. Discovering some off the track spots of Rio was wonderful. Our guide Tito made it an amazing experience sharing generously his knowledge and insights. Thank you very much for a fantastic day! We can truly recommend JungleMe if you want to explore Rio the other way.
We got to see many beautiful places that we could not think of beeing this close to the city. Forest, beaches and great views. The guide Riccardo was nice and had great knowledge about history and nature. All 5 in our family thought that this was the best tour
Great Tour conducted by Renata from Jungle Me. She picked us at the hotel on time and drove us to all the wonderful places which lasted a full day. Her on going commentary was very fascinating and we were amazed at her depth of knowledge and how easily we got on with her. Thank You Renata and Jungle Me.
Renata was an excellent guide. She is knowledgeable about Brazil's history, geography and ecosystems. Fluent in English, she shared her passion and love of Rio with us. We learned alot about Rio's culture. It's like exploring Rio with an old friend. Her recommendations of food places in Rio were spot-on. Our tour took us to spots known mostly to locals. We covered beach, forest, parks, waterfalls, lagoon ... Jungle Me kindly opened up a day for us when we had only one day available. Communication was fast & responsive. Highly recommend Jungle Me and thank you Renata for a day well spend.
Enjoyed the tour to the beach, mountains and forest. Very relaxing. Guide from Jungle Me was good and accommodating (sorry I forgot her name).
Our guide Roberto took us on the fascinating "Rio Nature Secrets" tour. Not only did we see beautiful waterfalls and remote beaches, but we also discovered the hidden resting spot of the native caimans and learned a ton about Brazil's turbulent history and diverse geographical regions. This was definitely time and money very well invested!
I recently visited Brazil and undertook two tours with JungleMe one a full day excursion called Rio’s natural Gems as well as a half day excursion Tijuca National Park and hike to Pedra Bonita. They were both amazing and I would highly recommend both tours for anyone wanting to experience Rio’s beautiful nature and wildlife. My guide for both trips was Renata who is totally fluent in English. Renata is an amazing photographer and showed me lots of tricks with my camera which I did not know about. Renata is extremely friendly as well as enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about Brazil’s history and specifically about Rio de Janeiro’s history and natural environment. On the full day trip, I got to see the full extent of Rio and all the amazing mountains and parks around Rio. The hike to Pedra Bonita was fantastic with amazing views from the top over Rio. The views were far superior to those from either Sugar Load Mountain or from the Statue of Christ the Redeemer.
The excursion was just amazing. Spectacular panoramic views of Rio, impressive natural landscapes, unforgettable impressions of Rio's surroundings, lots of interesting additional information to Rio and a very nice and experienced tour guide who showed us Rio from a completely different perspective! Absolutely recommended!
We saw a lot in a fairly short period of time! Tito was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable, and friendly.
This tour is incredible! There are so many highlights in Rio that not many travelers get to visit, despite being extremely beautiful. This Rio Nature Secrets Tour will allow you to visit 7 of these, with each stop barely having any other visitors as well. My favourites were Prainha Beach and Chinese Viewpoint. Thiago and the Jungle Me team were amazing guides, knowledgeable and just friendly people in general. Thank you so much!!
We had the most wonderful time as a group of 7 friends. the tour was so relaxing to be in the rain forest, see the incredible waterfalls, go to the remarkable Chinese lookout , see alligators , and relax on a very private beach. Perfect day.
Having taken a city sites tour the day before we were keen to experience Rios green areas so booked the Nature Secrets tour. We were really very fortunate in being the only participants, probably down to time of year so we ended up with a private tour guides by Alex and Ricardo. We began with a spectacular viewing point about the city and enjoyed a history lesson complete with diagrams of how Rio came to be since the 1700s which was emailed to is afterwards. From there we drove to the Tijuca forest in the heart of Rio to see the waterfalls, visited a national park where we met our first Capybara and Capuchin monkeys, and later round to the secret surf beach which was unspoilt and very beautiful Alex was a mine of information and happy to answer our many questions, he demonstrated a real passion for what he does and is a genuine environmentalist I’d recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see an alternative side of Rio
The tour was really informative and the guide was really knowledgeable and passionate about her job. Saw some really good sites and was well worth the money! Would most definitely recommend Jungle Me!
We got a lovely tour of Rios National Park with a personal, knowledgeable and professional guide. In addition to nature, animals and beautiful views, we got a great and educational history lesson about Brazil's contemporary history. Good and safe driver and safe car.
We want to share that this tour has been one of the best we have done. The experience was truly enriching, largely thanks to Mr Gustavo, who served as an exceptional guide. His knowledge, charisma and way of explaining every detail made the tour something very special. The tour includes a visit to several natural parks, allowing us to appreciate the different ecosystems that make up them. This is a small group, which creates a very familiar and close Mood. The combination of the landscape with the guide’s explanations makes the experience truly unforgettable — even more so if you are lucky enough to have a guide like Gustavo.
We spent a wonderful day with our guide Gustavo who was great. Every stop was an opportunity to learn a little bit about the history of Brazil, Gustavo is a passionate guide and we spent one of our best days in Rio with him. Prainha's favorite. Nothing to change for this day, it was perfect, thank you Gustavo
We did the Eco Citytour Rio with Gustavo and it was an amazing experience to discover the most natural and little known side of Rio de Janeiro. This tour took us to spectacular places within the city, away from mass tourism, which made each stop feel special. Gustavo was an exceptional guide, not only for his knowledge of the places we visited, but also for how he shared with us part of the history and culture of Brazil in a very pleasant way. Being a small group, the tour was very personalized and allowed us to enjoy it calmly and attentively to every detail. Fully recommended!
That was very exciting. To be shown both the cultural background and the ecology of the great city of Rio. Very quick guided tour with sensitive attention to the questions as well as needs of the visitor. And - respect for the driver's calmness in this chaotic traffic. Thanks to Renata and Co
I recommend this visit. It is general mut, visiting several distant points that are not known in a classic city tour and in a small group that makes it more enjoyable and dynamic.
Excellent experience with JungleMe, our guide Ricardo was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of Rio and the Parks and beaches we visited. Attending in small groups becomes much more enjoyable for leisurely walks and conversations, as well as for a time to enjoy beautiful beaches such as Prainha, good company and the unerring caipirinhas. Fully recommended.
I had the possibility of having a super personalized tour. Tito was very friendly the entire time, and shared a lot of information with me about the most beautiful reserves in Rio and his entire experience. I really enjoyed the tour. I recommend it without hesitation!
Excellent tour! We took the tour of national parks and prahinia with my sister. Super punctual and the Guide Renata is a genius! We had a very nice time
It was a beautiful walk, very well organized, all as advertised. The guide (Renata) does a fantastic job, combining her in-depth knowledge with sympathy, kindness and great taste when performing the task. We had a fantastic day, we met amazing natural places of Rio, with beautiful views. Very low difficulty level, as advertised. Highly recommended.
