We had a wonderful visit with Camila. She introduced us to many different local delicacies and shared her passion for Rio. We were able to connect with artists in the Santa Teresa area and sample wonderful chocolates and coffee from northern Brazil. We learned about the history of açaí and how it’s used in so many different ways. Final treat was a wonderful filet mignon sandwich with cheese and pineapple in Copacabana that was one of the best things we ate during our visit. Highly recommend this excursion, particularly if you like to spend time in the neighborhoods and meet local people.

Our guide was knowledgeable and gave us lots of details of the places we visited. Really enjoyed the food tasting . A great way to get introduced to Brazil
Camilla was very knowledgeable and attentive and I got to see some amazing parts of Ria that I wouldn’t have if I wasn’t on my own. It was a great experience.
This was one of the highlights of our trip to Rio. Camila was an amazing guide friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing Rio’s culture and history. The food was delicious, authentic, and plentiful, with a great variety of local specialties. We learned so much while exploring different neighborhoods and tasting incredible Brazilian cuisine. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rio!
Camila was such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, showing us to a number of local spots in Rio de Janeiro. We tried so many different foods along the tour from some of the more well known and iconic items to more local delicacies as well. It was a wonderful jam packed tour, where we really got to see parts of Rio de Janeiro we wouldn't have had the opportunity to visit on our own.
Camila is an excellent guide. We felt safe walking around the city with her. She is funny, engaging and clearly loves Rio de Janeiro. We tasted fruits we had never heard of, had the best coxinhas in Rio, wonderful pão de queijo and tasty beer, all while talking and walking around her favorite spots in town.
Viana started on time and we kept a steady pace, starting in Cocabanoa area, going to center city, the historic district and returning to Cocabanoa. Carnival was going on so we saw a lot of local parades. We visited the main tourist sites. We had to make some changes in the food stops due to carnival and my wife’s lactose intolerance. Viana over came the obstacles and continued on with a positive attitude. Couldn’t not had a better guide.
We were so impressed with our tour guide Heloisa! She was super friendly, upbeat and very attentive and knowledgeable - and she totally made our day! Cannot say enough good things about her - her English was impeccable, she was a great listener as well and was able to answer all of our questions! This was a wonderful food tour for someone who does not want to feel “big and bloated” at the end - it was the perfect mix of sampling great Brazilian foods at all the local places while getting great exercise! Extra appreciation for Heloisa showing us how to use the subway, which was very useful! 10/10 will book with this company again!
Camila provided an exceptional food tour. Not just the food that locals eat and drink but a history of Rio that was entertaining. She adjusted the experience to meet our expectations. She made sure we saw the special areas of Rio. I highly recommend Camila to any person visiting Rio whether a foodie or not.
We had a great day in Rio and saw many areas of the city. E g many sights in the city center, Santa Teresa, Lapa and the famous stairs. We really appreciated the information about the culture and the daily life in Rio. We do food tours all over the world and this one comes long down the list when it comes to food (1 sandwich to share for 2, 1 acai smoothie shared with 4 People, 1 coffee per person, 1 icetea for 5 people, 1 empanada for 2 persons, 1 cake per person, beer, 1 new type of bread with ham and cheese inside, fejoada + arrancini for late lunch (see comment below), 1 caparina per person). Late in the afternoon we asked if we would stop for lunch - and the guide said there would be no lunch just small bites along the way. What we will give a big credit for is that our guide took our input and gave us a very late lunch (Fejoada + arrancini) at a really cosy restaurant in Santa Teresa. Therefore my recommendation is that you set your expectations right before you go on the tour - after all it was very expensive compared to the food we got. So go for the culture and walk around in Rio.
This was the best tour we’ve ever been on, thanks to our awesome tour guide, Camila. If you want to learn about the history, culture, and flavors of Rio, this tour is a must. It’s absolutely worth every penny. Camila was hilarious and such a joy to be around as we walked through Rio. I highly recommend booking this tour!
Camila was incredible. It was like spending a day with family. Well definitely the ones you like hanging out with. She brought us to the highlights. We enjoyed great food, history and the stories. She was an immediate friend and we spent the day laughing. If you are hesitant to book, don’t. She was incredible!! Ps she will modify for you. I have. A bad knee(need surgery) and she was open to adjusting for my needs with breaks and rests. Dont hesitate to book, just do it!!
We did the food tour with the lovely Camilla. She was absolutely fantastic and we had a great time discovering the tastes and sites of Rio. We would definitely recommend doing this tour!! 🦘
It was exactly the trip I was looking for and it turned out to be the most fruitful day in Rio. We (a group of 4) were guided by 2 wonderful tour guides, Camila and Michael, who are both very knowledgeable and helpful. Together, we explored the city on foot, tasted a variety of local foods, visited different buildings and local places, and even experienced a charming tram ride. Overall, it was an meaningful journey and a must-do for anyone who wishes to connect with the history, culture, and everyday life of the people in Rio.
We had an amazing tour with Camilla on our first full day in Rio. It was packed with unreal food and drink, and was conducted at a nice pace. We never felt rushed but more so treated like special guests. The tour was adapted by Camilla when she learned what else we were doing to ensure we didn't miss some must see sites that aren't in the standard plan. She went over and above. Highly recommend - excellent :-)
Our guide Heloisa was excellent and knowledgeable. She told us a lot about the places we visited and the food we tasted. She was very enthusiastic and willing to accommodate all our requests. She made sure at the end of the tour we were put in an Uber and dropped to our hotel. The food we tasted was very good. Will highly recommend this tour
We really enjoyed this tour. The food was delicious. The culture and history information was very interesting. Recommend this tour.
the Rio Gastronomy: Culture & History Through The Art Of Food – Walking Tour had an incredible experience. Our guide, Bruno, was fantastic—he not only explained the history and culture behind each dish, but also brought the city’s food traditions to life with his energy and knowledge. Every stop gave us the chance to taste something unique and delicious, and Bruno made sure we understood the stories behind what we were eating. It felt like a perfect blend of sightseeing, culture, and food exploration. Highly recommend this tour if you want to truly experience Rio through its flavors and history. Bruno made it memorable from start to finish!
This tour is no joke. Camille is a local and knows where to get the best culinary treats like açaí, cachaca, beer, croquettes, sandwiches, pastries, and more. Also learned a lot of the history behind them, the restaurants, neat places she takes you to, and the people of Rio. There was lots of walking over the course of the day and care needed to be taken when crossing the streets. Plus, it was great to hang out with her. Worth every penny and recommend to anyone, local or otherwise, with an appetite and eagerness to learn.
This walking tour was great. We tried so so many different foods and drinks and CAMILA was absolutely the most PERFECT guide!! She made so many adjustments for our dietary requirements and made sure we still had so many things to try. It was a fantastic combination of trying food and learning about Rio’s history and culture. Highly recommended to everyone!
I really liked this trip. As opposed to most tours, we went to small neighborhoods like downtown and Santa Teresa. I really enjoyed the Portuguese library and Confeitera Colomobo. Also enjoyed the guaranara and Brazilian cheese bread. Also got some fun history about confections like the brigadeiro. Would definitely recommend this tour. Lots of food and drink to sample, even with those with food restrictions like me (vegetarian)
We had a great time on the food tour with Camila! She was super friendly, knew a ton about the area, and even adjusted the itinerary to replace a location we have already seen. The tour felt personal and fun—highly recommend her!
We had a fantastic experience on the gastronomy walking tour with Camila! She was incredibly friendly, easygoing, and made us feel welcome right from the start. What really stood out was her flexibility—she adjusted the itinerary on the spot to accommodate something we hadn’t seen yet, since we had already visited one of the stops on a previous tour. Camila is extremely knowledgeable about the area and you can tell she has a lot of experience. Her insights and recommendations really enriched our experience. I would absolutely take another tour with her and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a fun and personalized experience!
I booked as a solo traveller and I was worried about having to do this tour on my own, there turned out to be 2 of us on the tour but it would’ve been fantastic even if it had just been me. I cannot speak highly enough of the experience. Do not let the smaller number of reviews stop you from missing out. I cannot speak highly enough of our guide. Camila is an incredible guide, she is so passionate and knows so much about everything in Rio and explains everything in so much detail it really adds to the experience of Rio and your understanding of it. She puts a lot of effort into making sure everyone is safe and okay throughout the trip as well. The tour flows so well and it never feels like too much walking or food, everything feels at a correct pace. The visit to Santa Teresa was a highlight and an experience I’ll never forget and something I don’t think I would’ve done without this tour. It is great value for money even with the high price as there is so much food and drink to experience. You get to see so many things that are not part of the more typical tours and there is less of a rush and things are more relaxed if you want to stop and look at or buy something or take pictures. This has been the highlight of my trip so far and I doubt anything will top it. I experienced so much that I would not have without this and things that I will never forget. Truly a must do in Rio and something you will regret not doing. 5/5!! Obrigado!
The tour guide Camila was amazing! They should give her a Raise!! She was super energetic, informative and was constantly watching out for my safety. She asked me in the beginning what "I" wanted to see or do and even reached out to me personally on Whatsapp and sent me a greeting in the morning. I thought that was such a great touch where she allowed me to tell her what I was most interested in and how we could tailor the tour a bit better. This is a walking tour so be ready to walk but she did wait for us and Camila is very popular within the people along the route. Every time we were walking locals or random people she would know would say hi and everyone was really friendly and never did I feel unsafe walking around. We took the train, walked around, ate at different places, had friendly conversation, lots of laughs and also talked about different things that I saw that was similar to what I saw in Rio to my culture (Chinese). We got to see different restaurants, local stores, local people, local artwork, different areas, the history, the sites, and tourist areas. We also visited a local spot which had an amazing view and less crowded than the Christ de Remedeer. Camila was sooo accommodating, caring, and helpful in explaining things. I don't think that without this tour I would have been able to explore as many places and as many spots as I did that day. It was truly an amazing experience being my first time in Rio. If I had to do it again i would totally go on another tour with Camila. I did a solo tour which is a bit more expensive since I didn't come to Rio with anyone but well worth the money paying that extra. Some tips for the tour "Bring a map". Only Camila would get this joke. Seriously though, Bring a water bottle, fan, or towel because it can get hot but there are spots that we stop at that do have air conditioning. Make sure to bring walking shoes and a bag so that you can buy things back and carry what you need. Make sure you allocate enough time to get there and if you have anything planned after to plan accordingly as the tour will depend on you and your endurance when it ends. I was surprised by the amount of places that took card it was insane. From the local person selling coconuts to the vendors selling souvenirs. If you are thinking about exploring Rio, seeing the sites, exploring the culture, eating great food do not hesitate to book this trip. Btw Camila was super accommodating if you were specific about your diet or allegories to make sure what you tried was okay for you but keep that in mind when eating certain things. We also stopped to buy water or if someone wanted to stop at a stand to try something it was very flexible. I couldn't have imagined spending my day with anyone else. (I only had one full day for myself) Can there is a part II to this tour?
Camila led an amazing tour in Rio with me and my son in March 2025. We saw so many hidden corners and areas of Rio that you wouldn't normally get to. We tried a ton a fruits and flavors of Rio and met a ton of interesting people. This is a good tour early in your trip to Rio to get to know the city and how to get around. You can hit the big sights another day. Highly recommend. Fun and lots to learn!
Great food and sightseeing tour with Bruno Sergio! We have tasted great food and drinks and saw places like Royal Portuguese Cabinet of Reading and Parque das Ruinas. Bruno was a great guide and I recommend him and the tour to everyone visiting Rio.
Our tour with Camila was outstanding and we highly recommend! The tour has a great balance of food tastings, exploring different neighborhoods and learning about Rio and its culture. Camila is a fantastic tour guide - she has a wealth of knowledge that she shares with enthusiasm, and each place we stopped for food was selected for a reason, which Camila explained together with history of the business and the type of food or drink we were going to try. Camila was very attentive to our safety (taking care when crossing busy intersections, reminding us to keep our phones close when walking, etc), and adjusting for the weather. She was also very attentive to our food preferences and interests, which I really appreciated as a vegetarian. At one confectionary Camila saw me looking at the display case on the way out, and she immediately asked if I saw anything I was interested in and then extended our stop so that I could try the additional item. This tour is great for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike (we had both in our party). We make food tours a regular part of our travel, and Camila’s really stood out - it is rare to visit so many different neighborhoods and learn so much about a big city while also discovering the food. This tour is exceptional. It is a full day outing and we never felt rushed. The food sampling was well-paced throughout the day so we were never too full and never hungry. The tour operator was also very good at communicating in advance via WhatsApp, providing a photo of Camila and all of the details on the meeting time and place. Thank you Camila! And thank you GregTur company for having such an amazing guide and tour as part of your team!
Hands down this was the best tour guide I’ve ever had! Camilla was friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. And the delicious food… I think I gained five pounds! Not only did we eat out way through Rio, but we saw so much along the way, too. We went to so many places. We took walks, taxis and a ride on the subway. A full day of food and fun. I highly recommend Camilla and this tour!
Camila was a great host, spent the day together trying different foods from local shops whilst getting all sorts of history about Rio
I’ve done a handful of tours over the years (in Japan, India, Hong Kong, Singapore) and while many of them were great and very memorable, this was far and away the best one I’ve done. Camila was so warm and open and I felt like I got to actually learn about her life in Rio—it went way beyond food (although everything was delicious too and not things I would have found on my own.) I cannot recommend this tour highly enough as a way to experience Rio. I felt so taken care of the entire day. Camila is truly wonderful and taking this tour has made my trip to Rio immeasurably better.
This food tour was amazing. Bruno was our guide and he was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable about Rio de Janeiro, the culture, the food, the history, and Brazil . He took great care of us. I highly recommend this tour to everyone.
I cannot say enough about how fantastic our food tour was with Camila! We were lucky and it it was only two of us on the tour, and Camila had Julio assisting her since he was learning the tour himself. Starting with our tour guide, Camila was so friendly and energetic, and shared so many fun details and facts about the places we stopped in or walked by and saw, as welll as the food and culture. We joked that it seemed everywhere we went everyone knew Camila. She made sure we were comfortable and had a good time. We ate and drank SO MANY THINGS! Açaí, both traditional and sweetened, fried bread cheese, fried chicken with traditional sauces, a beef sandwich with cheese and pineapple, cashew fruit juice, a coconut cream liquor, a chicken and cream cheese-like fried snack (coxinha), pastries of our choice at a famous bakery, cheese bread, a local beer, local candies, and a caipirinha cocktail. All while walking through sights in Copacabana, then subway to downtown to see the library, theater, cathedral view, aqueduct view, and other beautiful sights, then tram/taxi to Santa Teresa area with many more great sights including a great vantage point at a park, the Selina stairs and another great vantage point at the top floor of a very nice hostel. It was a jam-packed, super fun and filling 6 hours. Absolute best tour in Brazil that we went on and one of the top food tours across the world we’ve booked (we have been on dozens all over). Thank you Camila!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Fantastic experience with Camila who not only had us try foods the locals eat, but gave us tidbits of history in between bites to help give us a chance to digest the food. And all the food was different surprising and delicious! A true gem of a tour!!
Holy moly! Delectable, stupendous, delicious! Chefs kiss! Seriously! Took this tour with Camila and she was GREAT! Never took a tour like this. We walked the neighborhood, took the subway, and ubered. All to try foods the locals (that she called “Karyokes” the spelling is wrong I’m sure but that’s what it sounded like) meaning local folk from Rio, ate. My absolute fave was a sandwich with filet mignon, cheese and pineapple. Yes, pineapple. It was DELICIOUS!!! I’ve got to try it out at home. Anyhoo, between bites she told us tons of history bits (giving us time to digest on our way to our next spot). And we saw places not on the tourist agenda, like the library with 4 stories of books on the wall, the opera house, the selaron steps - from the back way. Plus we toured the Saint Theresa neighborhood and got to visit shops and buy gifts. This tour was so much more than I thought it would be and would happily pay to do it again when I return to Rio. Ask for Camila if you do the tour. She’s literally the BEST!
Camila was an awesome guide. I loved all the stops for food and drink as well as sightseeing along the way, especially in the Santa Teresa neighborhood. I highly recommend this tour.
Highly recommend doing this tour early in your Rio trip. Camilla took us to multiple locations where we sampled many items. Come hungry! Our tour ended up being just my husband and me. Camilla became a fast friend and answered all our questions. She learned about us and our interests so she could point out things we would be interested in. She very patiently taught us some Portuguese phrases we could use. We received a phenomenal overview of Rio and Brazilian culture, saw so many areas of the city, and ate and drank our way through a glorious day.
We had an epic tour with Camila from Gregtur. From local cuisine to hidden local treasures, she thoroughly engaged us with her knowledge of Brazilian history, how the locals actually live, and got us out of the major tourist traps that, while fun, do not give you a close up view as to how wonderful life can be in Rio. I highly recommend her. I have two young adult children - who can be hard to please- and they absolutely loved her. If you want an engaging thoughtful tour guide Camila will teach you a lot while sharing tasty local cuisine spots for you to enjoy.
Our tour guide was amazing! Camila was friendly and knowledgeable, giving us an authentic glimpse into local culture by showing us her favorite places to frequent and giving her hilarious and honest opinions. The tour was a great blend of sightseeing, food tasting, and learning facts about the area. Camila even kindly accommodated an unexpected change in plans after illness interrupted our original tour date. It was a fantastic experience—highly recommend!
We were confused by the tour since it got such good reviews and kind of wonder if we were scammed by booking this. This tour is not worth the cost and was a huge disappointment. Our guide was lovely, but the tour was not engaging, and he was on his cell phone much of the time. One stop was out of the food we went for, and at another he did not know where one of the restaurants was located, so asked a person on the street who then followed us to the restaurant asking for money. Many of the foods we tried were very good, but there was no description of what it is or why we were trying it in several instances. He took photos and said he'd send, never recieved them. There are so many great ways to see the city and experience it, but this was not it. We've done food tours in other countries that were the highlight of our trip, and this was definitely not that.
This tour was so much more than a food tour! We saw SO much of the city today! I would recommend this tour to anyone in the city, we went into the business district and saw the beautiful library, we went on the tram to Santa Teresa. We ate a delicious filet mignon sadwhich, açaí, many deserts and many drinks. Camila is an amazing tour guide, and super knowledgable about the city.
Camila Was amazing. She was so friendly and welcoming. She was very knowledgeable and took us to great sightseeing events and great places to try local food I can’t wait to book another tour with her. She rocks.
Camilla’s food tour was the best in my life!!!!!! Ask for her!!!!! She’s so kind knowledgeable and genuine. Truly the best guide of all time.
Excellent day trip... well organised from start to finish. did exactly what was promised, Train was good, food OK and driver pickup drop off very easy. Our guide Zohaib was excellent and knowledgeable given plenty of insights and getting us into all he right locations and in front of the queues. Overall perfect trip and well worth little bit extra for private tour and service....
Several hour long tour exploring Rio’s history and food. Really informative and customizable. Camilia is a fabulous guide and her hospitality is outstanding.
Amazing tour! The company was able to accommodate our party and changing to a ride tour with wheelchair due to a foot injury.
The food tour was definitely a highlight. This was not only a food tour but a combination of food and seeing historic sites in Rio de Janeiro. So make sure to wear your comfortable shoes because you’ll be walking a lot. The fry cheese, Brazilian coffee, chocolate and farofa was so delicious. I learned so much of the culture by visiting different historic sites. Camila was very knowledgeable and we experienced the life of CaRiocas! It’s a great tour, I would recommend it! Muito Obrigada Camila!!
I enjoyed the food and history tour with Camila. She was friendly and very knowledgeable about Rio. This was my first time in Rio and it was a good way to experience some of the different neighborhoods and foods and drinks that Rio is famous for. In particular I enjoyed the steak, cheese, and pineapple sandwich and different desserts we had at some highly rated shops. I enjoyed the Portuguese Library, the Selaron steps, and the tram ride to St. Theresa’s the most.
We had an amazing time with Camilla, she took us to great spots throughout the city, we had wonderful food and could not have enjoyed ourselves more!
The Rio Gastronomy tour was fantastic! Camila was so friendly, professional and fun! I would highly recommend this trip to anyone. What a great way to spend a day experiencing Rio!
