Rio De Janeiro: Shared Speedboat Tour With Beer Included!

This was one of the most stressful experiences I’ve had while traveling. I originally booked a shared boat tour, and everything seemed fine at first. But after I paid through Viator, the operator tried to push me into switching to a private tour, then demanded a much higher price than what was originally agreed upon. When I questioned the new amount, they tried to charge me even more by manipulating exchange rates and adding hidden fees through PayPal. I showed clear proof of what I had already paid and what was actually due, based on their own pricing. Instead of correcting it, they became aggressive, dismissive, and even accused me of fraud simply for doing the math and for clarity and making sure they don’t cheat me. They also threatened to charge a “captain fee” after canceling — even though I had clearly stated I was willing to pay the correct remaining balance. Their tone turned threatening and rude, trying to intimidate me into paying more than I owed. Fortunately, I saved the entire chat and submitted everything to Viator for review. Do not book with this operator. They are dishonest, unprofessional, and use pressure tactics to push customers into paying more after booking. I do not recommend this tour or company to anyone. Save your money and avoid the stress.

We didn't have the best experience. The tour is advertised as an English tour but there is no commentary regarding the sights nor did the guide engage in any way with the travellers. Basically, the boat takes you around the bay and stops in two places for everyone to have a swim but that's pretty much it. The tour was also advertised as three hours - but we started half an hour late and ended half an hour early. It was nice to see Rio from the water but I wouldn't recommend this particular tour - especially if you are looking for a guided tour.

My family and I had a great time during this tour, the captain of the boat was extremely friendly and pleasant, drinks were cold and refreshing. Perfect experience and deeply recommend it.

We wanted a “view from the water” perspective of Rio and this trip was exactly that. Our driver was Thiago. He was kind, friendly and knowledgeable. It was clear he wanted us to have a wonderful experience and he did everything to make that possible. Three hours was a perfect amount of time to be on the water and we covered a lot of territory during that time. It was fun to swim in the waters off of Ipanema Beach. There were 7 guests on the boat and plenty of room for all. Would highly recommend this trip if you want to get out on the water to see Rio de Janeiro.

Captain antonio was super friendly, i loved the speed boat trip, we stopped at 2 spots and had a nice swim and we had a chance to take amazing photos as the boat moved in different angles revealing the magical beauty of rio de janeiro.

We spent some time browsing but finally settled with Rio Island. It was indeed a Great experience. Captain Jorge Bueno was tremendously friendly and it was well noticed he is a very experienced seaman. Throughout the journey, he shared information about each spot; dropped anchor at nice locations and gave us enough time to enjoy the warm waters. The high point was the sunset: from Niterói, looking straight to the west; what a joy. Besides, plenty of beer and water available. Safety was kept in mind at all times. Smooth communication (WhatsApp) before boarding. Definitely recommend.

Great views of Rio de Janeiro from the water. Swimming was fun out by the islands. Good opportunity to meet and chat with other travelers. Cold beers included on the tour were a nice bonus too.

The boat trip was relaxing, informative, and quite pleasant. Our skipper, Ricardo, was great. He had the right balance of telling us what we were looking at, and staying quiet so we could enjoy the ride. I saw no info that indicated we could swim from the boat if we wore a suit, so we were unprepared. (Not a big problem as we're not big swimmers; just a point for other travelers.) I was amused that the beer we were offered was Budweiser. As an American, it made me laugh because I expected a local brew. We enjoyed the ride, and the unique perspective of Rio from the water.

We booked this trip last minute for the final morning of our holiday! Best decision ever, really was a fun way to finish. The weather was grey and cloudy, the sea was a bit rough, then the rain came... but it was the best day!! Our guide André was brilliant. Good fun and let us take lots of photos, and told us all about the sights and landmarks. The weather wasn’t great and the sea was rough in bits but we felt totally safe in his hands. We laughed and screamed our heads off!! Thoroughly recommend this to anyone!!

All the comments about the views etc are true - Rio is beautiful and it was wonderful to see familiar sites from a new angle and to visit the islands we've gazed at from the beach at Ipanema. However, at nearly 50 euros I expected something slicker. The company changed the day and then they changed the time and we were out for quite a bit less than the expected 3 hours. We also had to specifically request to go to the islands we'd booked to go to, as our guide had a different itinerary in mind. On arrival I assumed that the diving we were there to do meant masks etc would be included. I was mistaken! Also we were not offered any snacks and something would have been welcome. So I'd say yes, it's a great morning out - but overpriced and overpromised.

This turned out to be another perfect half day tour. Ricardo was a great host and his little motorboat (with a shaded area) was fun. The views are spectacular and you get a different perspective on the area. He took us all the way over to Niteroi. Just super gorgeous vistas. Motoring meant cool breezes too! We enjoyed it very much. I would not plan on swimming although some of the little covers are inviting, they’re also very dirty as is the water. Rio should really invest in cleaning the bay and the beaches-all of them. But take the cruise, definitely a good deal!

We chose the private boat trip and had lovely tour of the coast in Rio. Ricardo was a wonderful host and showed us some cool spots in the area. Excellent value.

I found the experiment proposal simply brilliant. Because once shared, it becomes much more affordable and economical than renting an entire boat to yourself. And that makes all the difference. The boat I used was 24 feet long, with a capacity for 10 people, but we were only 7 passengers. That is, plenty of space, no overcrowding, everything below maximum capacity, which ensures comfort, well-being and, above all, safety — something that I consider essential. It's not a giant yacht, of the many-foot, super-luxury ones. It's a simple boat. And yet I will say without exaggeration: it was, without a doubt, the best tour I have ever made aboard a boat on the coast of Rio de Janeiro. And I'll explain why. The great glory of the experience has a name: Rafael, the commander of the boat. A young boy, always smiling, clearly passionate about what he does, acquainted with the city, giving information all the time, but to the right extent — without being tiring or invasive. Interage, tell stories, guide, have fun. A real star. The script I will not reveal, to not give spoilers, but I can guarantee that it is simply charming. I also had a lot of luck with the group: everyone I knew, dear people, fun, which made everything even more special. Anyway, it was magnificent. I would do it again as many times as possible and I recommend without the slightest hesitation. The brilliance of this experience has a name: Rafael.

We love the boat ride. Pilot Hugo was very friendly, took us on the whale route and we were able to see a beautiful show in the day. The landscape is lush. It's worth it.

Just to remember, they sell speedboat/boat trips and not the Sun! So they don't control the weather. I hired my tour through the MORAIS agency and when I got there it was this Rio Island, I didn't understand, but ok. This MORAIS agency gave me a time of 2:30 pm for the tour, which would be a 3-hour tour and would catch the sunset (it was cloudy on the day, there was no sunset and at the end there was a drizzle, but they are not to blame for the weather forecast). When I got there, the guy from Rio Island informed me that the tour was at 3:30 pm, I had to wait for 1 hour, terrified of being canceled because the weather was getting closer and closer. Anyway, there were 3 groups for this tour, about 12-14 people in each group, my group's boat was the only one that had a bathroom and HOW DISGUSTING, the bathroom was a puddle of piss, it looked chemical and it didn't flush (??) I know There's not even that possibility, with each wave the piss overflowed more. Other than that, it was a nice and incredible trip, the weather didn't help but it was worth the experience because Rio is beautiful in itself, in the description there were 3 stops for diving, we only had 2. And the description also mentioned each region we would pass through (I didn't have a guide so we went through them all like this (??) it was all the same in the middle of the sea), but it was delicious, apart from those “troubles”. I took a close-up and then changed the sky in Photoshop, everything was fine. But I think they should have a little more contact with the contractor, have more assertive and detailed communication.

Não foi agradável ter que insistir em fazer o passeio comprado pois o capitão descartou logo a ida às ilhas cagarras. E não foi pelas condições do mar e clima que estavam perfeitas para o passeio. Ele não pode mudar a seu gosto a rota. Ainda mais que o pacote é ILHAS CAGARRAS! Mas ele aceitou a minha colocação e finalmente fomos até as ilhas. Mas me pareceu muito suspeito . Também não tem aquela prancha azul que está na foto, nem guia que fale inglês.

The places are incredible, the staff attentive, an experience that we definitely want to repeat, as it was a shared tour, we made friends with other people who were also there for the first time, and everything went smoothly.

When I arrived at the agreed place (bar urca) there was no one to receive us, we waited 30 min and asked a boat that looked like the one in the photos, it tells me that my reservation was not made, therefore I could not take us and that they would contact me to relearn for another day. They did not contact me that day and I had to resort to all means to get an answer, they still do not reimburse me for not having performed the Service.

The trip bought went to the Cagarras Islands but we stayed roaming in the bay pq the sea was not good. A shipping Enterprise shouldn't have seen this before leaving?No life jacket on board.

Very good but could be better! We did a shared tour (which fortunately was almost private with only 3 people, and still good! Because more people there unconditionally). At the beginning it was already half-wrapped, the manager had no control over the situation, make the customers wait beyond the time for the other customers who are late.Cool route, impeccable look, wonderful city, but I felt that something was missing. Tour does not meet 3h. If he did not ask the captain, he would not stop for a diving. We bought a beer combo the part that was not delivered, we had a refund. Then you see that these details make a difference. They have the capacity to be 5 stars, but unfortunately they do not exceed a maximum of 3.

We really had beer, coke and water at hand... missed information from the sailor, about what that place was, where we were going, how long we would be standing, what would be the stops.. There were foreign tourists on the boat and they didn't know where they were going... but we left at 12:45 and returned at 15:00. The hired were 3 hours walk no 2:15, there was only one stop for diving, had understood that they would be 2, we did not pass in Mac and Adam and Eve. I was disappointed.

The walk was indescribable. Rio de Janeiro itself already has beautiful landscapes, but seen in the panorama of the snack I managed to get even more amazing. I thank the attention and care of all the staff I had contact with.
