Rio De Janeiro Hang Gliding Experience

The instructors were very knowledgeable and safe! There was fog at the take off area so we waited for 2 hours hoping it would clear. After waiting for the 2 hours we decided to head back down the mountain and try to reschedule. We got halfway down the mountain when our driver noticed it was clearing up, so we turned around and headed back up. We did get to hang glide! It was an awesome experience.

Experience was very fun. I give it 4/5 stars because of the incorrect fee amount communicated for insurance. It is a mandatory fee paid to the Rio Hanggliding Association which is fine! I was told it would be 100 reais but endd up being 150. When I asked the coordinator they said "yes the fee was updated by the association and we didn't update our email"

Ricardo and Rafael are the best instructors! They are knowledgeable and allow you to do different things with the hang glide experience! None of us fell during take-off or landing winch is huge! We also bought the video, great experience, would highly recommend!

This was a great experience!!!! So good I went back and did it again ! Twice hang gliding and one time para gliding. Everyone was very professional and chill.

The experience was absolutely amazing The instructor who I had was very knowledgeable friendly spoke English. Well just all around a good guy.

We had an airline delay, but I was able to communicate easily through WhatsApp with Rio Hang Gliding and they moved me to the very end of the day for the last flight. It was great and I had a terrific time. I would highly recommend this activity and this Rio Hang Gliding.

This is absolutely awesome and I can’t recommend it enough except for one part, I would recommend that you don’t buy the GoPro footage and instead by the $60 360 camera that they offer after the flight. It’ll save you 40 bucks but trust me, it’s worth it!

The experience was beautiful but they do not hand you your own dvd, it states getting a free Dvd and on top of the $260usd they take you somewhere to pay another $40usd for “insurance” upon getting to the top I had a 2 hour wait, instructor jumped down with someone else and I had to wait more than an hour and a half to jump. Time in the air is estimated about 7 minutes so who knows where he went. Getting to the bottom they hit you with to “buy the video” for an extra $67usd per video, 3 angles almost $200usd for a “free dvd” it’s a big tourist trap go to a ticket place getting here along the beach and you get the full experience for less than $150 with someone else!! They just want your money

Communication regarding a delay did not occur even after we called ahead to confirm. After waiting almost an hour to be picked up, we reached them and they said they forgot to call us. However, it was rescheduled for later in the day, and it was an amazing flight and very professional guides.

Everything was good up until the part of 35 euro charge (220 reais) just for the front camera. I would like to be informed beforehand.

The pick up to drive us to the location was easy and our driver friendly. However since we cannot both hanglide at the the same time, my husband went first and I second. I stood up there for over an hour waiting for my instructor to come back only to find out he was taking someone else instead and another person was going to take me down. It seemed they forgot about me? While my husband had a quick and fun experience, mine ended up being stressful and agitating.

The experience itself is great | 100% recomme nd doing it but Everything around that not so g ood, they schedule one ore but made us wait 40 minutes for the pick up, not for weather pro blems which happens yo so you have ti consid er for your schedule but for pick up we wait m ore than 40 minutes so consider that for your t ime in Rio, I pay for 2 people doing hang glidin g but when we arrive they say they are full and one of us have to do paragliding even we reser ved with good time for doing this, and the instr uctor with passive aggressive attitude since pi ck up. despite this I totally recommend doing t he jump!

It was a bit chaotic, possibly because we didn’t know what we were doing. We didn’t expect the 120 Reals insurance payment, nor did we realise that we needed passport numbers. Apart from that, it was scary, exhilarating and brilliant!

While I greatly enjoyed the experience, I was disappointed and a little ticked off to find out that I still had to pay more for the experience beyond the $230 I spent here. I had to pay for the club fees, which in all honesty should have been advertised as an extra cost and added to the total here. The real cost is around $260.

Nice. $15 insurance add on and $15 vid add on at the end for "side cam"... no test run, but was safe, beautiful and fun. I would do it again with them I just wish everything was paid when I booked.

It was delayed one day due to weather, but the next day was perfect. Pick me up at the hotel. I filled out the info they needed drove to the top and I was sailing through the air in roughly 1 hour from being picked up. An amazing experience. Very professional and friendly and of course I bought the videos lol. That was the last thing to check off on my original bucket list and it was definitely worth doing.! Now… Onto my second bucket list

What an amazing day, started out raining and low clouds. But thankfully, the wind, rain and clouds dissipated to make it an awesome experience. The guide (forgot his name), was the absolute best in making me feel comfortable. Would absolutely recommend to family and friends. A must do while in Rio de Janeiro.

Hang gliding in Rio de Janeiro was truly an incredible experience! From start to finish, the entire experience was professional, safe, and absolutely breathtaking. Manoel was friendly, highly experienced, and made me feel completely at ease—even though it was my first time flying. Launching off the cliff with a view of the mountains and gliding over the stunning coastline and iconic landmarks like Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer was surreal. The views were unbeatable, and the landing on the beach was smooth and exhilarating. If you're visiting Rio and looking for something unforgettable, I can't recommend this enough. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I’ll be talking about for years!

It was super fun! It was very easy for me to learn what I needed to do and it was an amazing and a once in a lifetime experience.

The guide was amazing. My wife was terrified and he did such a good job making her feel comfortable and confident. 10/10 would recommend.

All flights went well, but Very disappointed with the communication experience. The provider messaged us just a day before to change the pick-up time to 8:00 AM, with no prior notice. We were also told last minute that insurance would cost nearly $20 USD per person, despite the listing saying $15 USD. They don’t accept USD cash, only Brazilian Real or card , card with a 10% card fee none of which was disclosed until I asked repeatedly. Two of our group were forced into paragliding, even though they were within the weight limit for the activity they booked. We paid over $1,000 USD for six people, communication needs big improvement.

It was a good experience, the coach was very helpful. The videos were great. The flight duration was a bit short but everything was ok.

Hang gliding over Rio is epic and the company alleviates all safety concerns through their professionalism & dedicated approach to a safe and memorable experience.

The hang gliding experience was awesome; we felt very safe the whole time, and the guides were very personable. Be ready to be flexible since this experience is dependent on specific weather conditions. The guides were super helpful to make a reschedule work for us after weather prevented us from going on our original day/time outing. No experience necessary, and really not much training was done/needed either.

This was an amazing experience. I was terrified but my instructor kept reassuring me. 10 out of 10 for everything. I can’t wait to come back.

I give a 5 out of 5 because my guide made sure i was going to experience the hang gliding! At first the weather wasn't favorable for the day I scheduled but my guide didn't give up on me. When we finally got to the site the wait was long due to the wind, he kept assuring me we was gonna go. When we flew in the air it was an experience like no other. I'd definitely do it again.

I had made a reservation for 2 people at 1:00 pm & when we arrived and messaged the guy on what’s up he messaged us back saying the activity was cancelled . Also there were a group of women waiting and they had just cancelled on them as well . He said they cancelled due to strong winds but it’s a lie because people were paragliding . I believe they just got overbooked

The flight experience was wonderful The directions to the location were not precise. The Uber would have dropped me at the location mentioned….a fruit store The instructions should say on the Beach across from the large building with numerous flags…“the Rio Air Club” Also, it seems as as though they take last minute call ins. I got bumped 1.5 hours.

Konrad made arranging this excursion so easy! Pickup from hotel was effortless. Our hang gliding pilot was very professional and kind…Wonderful experience!

This is a fun and relaxing experience. Everyone should try it at least once. The value was great. The instructors made you feel comfortable.

The views and experience was amazing. But having my booking at 8am and then flying at 10am was very frustrating. My girlfriend flew at 9am and I assumed I would be the next person in line. 1 hour after waiting I then flew. Great experience but very poor organisation.

The hang-gliding was awesome. It lasted about 7-8 mins from take off to landing. The views of the beach from the air were stunning. My guide, Konrad was a fluent English speaker and very skilled at what he does. Only 1 problem - I paid for the 360 camera, which sadly didn't record anything on the flight. Konrad was very efficient though and within a couple of hours, organised my refund direct to my credit card. Highly recommended.

Best experience of my entire life I couldn’t have had a better time please don’t skip this very scary to do but very much worth it

This was one incredible adventure. We took an Uber to a market, where we were picked up by our instructor, Konrad. When we got to the top, we had to wait quite a while (but that was ok, because you get to take in astounding views and watch others hang glide as well as paraglide), and then we were introduced to other instructors with whom we would fly tandem. Of course, the flight was incredible. My two main criticisms: 1) I wish the people my wife and I individually had flying with us had a bit more "oomph," if you know what I mean. I felt in some ways like just another person that they have to take on a hang-gliding adventure, something I had never ever done in my life since I'm acrophobic ... don't get me wrong, they were both friendly and provided great opportunities to take great pictures with all three cameras attached, but I just wish they had focused on us more as people ... 2) It was too short! I couldn't believe how fast it went by. I wish they had an option to double your time in the air for an extra charge. However, overall, this is an experience I highly, indubitably recommend!!!

Great instructors and very patient with new-timers. Great with children too. Highly recommend. Great scenery when flying high above the beach and city.

The flying experience itself was thrilling, but the lack of proper safety and preparation made it far from enjoyable. My hand got caught between the ropes during the flight, and for what felt like ages, I thought it might break. With no thorough safety check or clear instructions beforehand, we had to struggle mid-air to free my arm, and it’s still swollen and painful. On top of that, no one warned us about the sandflies at the takeoff zone, which left me covered in more than 20 bites that have been itching relentlessly. While the instructor knows how to glide, his attention to safety and communication needs serious improvement. If you plan to try this, I’d recommend looking for a more professional operator and bringing insect repellent.
