I cannot leave a review as this tour did not happen. After receiving a confirmation of the trip 48 hours before I waited for 40 mins outside my hotel. When nobody arrived I contacted the company running the trip and they told me that no-one else had booked so it wasn't running with absolutely no apology. No message to tell me though even though they had my money. I hope that I get a refund. I suggest Viator don't use this company.

Itinerary
Founded in 1808 by King John VI of Portugal, The Botanical Garden shows the diversity of Brazilian and foreign flora. The 140-hectare park lies at the foot of the Corcovado Mountain, far below the right arm of the statue of Christ the Redeemer and contains more than 6,000 different species of tropical and subtropical plants and trees, including 900 varieties of palm trees. The Garden also houses monuments of historical, artistic and archaeological significance. The Botanical Garden has an important research institute, which develops a wide range of botanical studies in Brazil.

We had an excellent tour of the garden with ChiChi who showed us lots of intresting things and explained the history of the park. We spent about 2 hours here and is seemed to go so fast! The orchid house is amazing
Awesome park to visit while visiting the area. Guide was very informative! Seen a bunch of wild monkeys close by. Highly recommended!
Excellent private tour. Our guide was very well informed and passed the information on to us. She was an absolute delight who was as enthusiastic about plants and flowers as me.
We had the best time touring the Botanical Garden. Our tour Lucia was phenomenal!!! She was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. Highly recommend her and Gray Line.
Beautiful garden. Our tour guide (Lucia) was very knowledgeable and was able to provide so much more to our experience with her passion for the garden. Ask for her!
I was alone on this guided tour through the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Gardens. My guide was “Milene” who spoke perfect English. She was very knowledgeable and helpful with explaining the history of the gardens and the various wonderful trees and plants inside the gardens. We walked at a leasurely pace so I could enjoy the beauty of the gardens. Milene helped me by taking many photos of me standing in front (or inside) many of the lovely plants and structures. Do you want to get away from the fast pace of central Rio? Yes, then go do this peaceful and beautiful tour of the incredibly diverse plants in the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Gardens!!

It was wonderful and our guide spoke many languages and was very personable. I highly recommend the experience. It is better to go with someone that knows the area than to do it on your own.
We enjoy the tour of the Garden with a knowledgeable guide with a perfect command of the English language. The well maintain garden and the greenery was a cherry on top of the tour.
Wow! I give this tour 10 stars out of 5! Our Botanical Gardens tour finished early and we went onto the vibrant historical Pedra do Sal district. So much rich and poignant history about the Afro-Brazilian culture. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and thorough. It was my favorite tour of my visit, the tour guide made it special! Thank you
Our guide George was charming, funny and very knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna around us. We thoroughly enjoyed the day out and it would not have been the same if we have gone alone without our guide George.
Great way to spend an afternoon. Took my mom and daughter and we loved the orchids and the trees and got to see toucans and marmosets
Excellent tour of the beautiful botanical garden ! Erica was an awesome guide she narrated the history and other information in great detail. Highly recommended this tour when visiting Rio.
Had a private tour with Luis. He was knowledgeable about all aspects of the garden. I have never seen trees that were so tall! Great place to visit.
Guide knew nothing about the plants in the garden— nothing. He was not informed AT ALL & took time to spout conspiracy theories about vaccines being sugar and water.
Our guide was great, but the organization of the trip was terrible. Our guide doesn't own a car, so the tour company was supposed to send one, but couldn't get an Uber to come since it was a Carnival day. We wound up sitting in the hotel lobby for 45 minutes until one of the hotel employees drove us and the guide to the gardens. Luckily we were able to get an Uber quickly for the return to the hotel. The activity price doesn't include tickets, so that wasn't great either since the venue doesn't take credit cards or foreign currency.
I spent a grest Sunday afternoon at the botanical garden. Enjoyed the serene waterfall. There is also a place near the restaurant on Tom Jobim. Just take the Uber and bring cash for entrance tickets purchase. An oasis in the middle of the city.
Saw some beautiful and unique flowers and trees. Never expected to find a tree that was noted as a favourite spot of Antônio Carlos Jobim.
Luis was amazing! Very friendly and knowledgeable. We had such a good tour with him at the jardim botanica! He is also a wonderful photographer. I would highly suggest doing a tour with Luis!
It takes a very special guide to make a tour interesting on a very rainy day & JB managed to accomplish this! The garden is wonderful & JB is very knowledgeable & enthusiastic.
Excellent overview of the creation of the garden and of the plant types, where they come from and what they were used for. Really enjoyed it.
This is a very easy walking garden. Didn’t see as many orchids as I expected but they did have some unusual varieties. A little confusing on how to follow the paths.
I enjoyed this tour for one reason. Our guide JP was delightful - informed, gentlemanly and very amusing. His knowledge of the plants and history of Rio de Janeiro was encyclopaedic. The garden is very beautiful and well worth the visit - the avenues of gigantic palm trees alone are breath taking but there is an orchidarium, bromelario and many things in between. My only disappointment was the fact I had to find my way to Copacobana palace and back after the ticket said hotel pick up.
Beautiful gardens with an excellent guide. Carlos was fantastic, kept us informed and has perfect English. He kept us engaged and gave us useful tips on visiting Rio. We ended up having a private tour with just the 2 of us as there was nobody else booked on the trip which made our experience even more personal.

Our guide Karla was friendly and knowledgeable of the gardens. It is a lovely and relaxing tour as the gardens are well maintained.

There were only 3 of us on this tour, so we got a lot of personalized attention. A hot day made for a nice, leisurely walk among some beautiful scenery. Also a nice escape from city traffic!

Very nice, but certainly there are periods with better flowering, The orchids pavilion turned out a little disappointing (probably better at other times). Our guide, Tania, despite her age turned out to be surprisingly arzilla, nice and funny as well as very well prepared.
The Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden is a real feeling. The diversity of trees and plants is simply unique. It is possible to sit for hours on the benches, in the shade of the trees, just watching and enjoying the environment. From the pau-brasil, the tree that gave the country its name, through medicinal plants, trees of all kinds, orchid cultivation, carnivorous plants, herbs and even the breeding of bees without straw, there is much more to discover. We will definitely be back.
The experience was very bad, the guide very slow, with very little information, spoke regular Spanish and you could tell that he wanted the tour to end. The duration said 3 hours 30 and lasted 2 hours. I think it's too expensive for what they offer because apart you have to pay admission to the botanical park. I paid $196 for 4 and I wouldn't have paid more than 30. Really disappointed. PS: The place is wonderful, the Service extremely overrated
The guide didn't really speak Spanish and although it put a lot of interest it was very difficult to understand it and it's a shame because the place is wonderful and beautiful. The transfer was by Uber so in the end we could have done it for free since we have no advantage when doing it as an organized visit
Le prestataire local n’est pas venu. Attente d’une heure pour rien. Aucun message ni pour prévenir ni pour s’excuser. Non recommandé
Very beautiful place in the center of Rio where you can walk for at least 3 hours to discover a large number of plants and trees, very natural layout sometimes basic, a nice quiet stroll a stone's throw from the hustle and bustle of the city, full price entry 70 reals.
The botanical garden is inside a large park with very tall palm trees and some gigantic trees. The orchid and cactus garden are also beautiful.
A small green lung in the city. I didn't find a queue to enter. There are no indications to follow a path, everything is delegated to improvisation. Better to take a guide. The route can be done on foot, or with a golf car with driver, or, but I discovered this in the end, by renting a bicycle inside. The park is worth seeing for the many plants present. You can see monkeys, toucan
Fantastic garden, huge trees with div. other plants growing on them admirable atmosphere, amazing way it all over time had been planted on Lots of birds, we saw little monkeys hanging in the trees, a really lovely atmosphere.
Very beautiful place in the middle of the city with a lot of green and history The entrance is charged a value, has half entrance for student and elderly For those who like to photograph birds is a full plate The view to the corcovado is beautiful
It really is an enticing place. You have to go in time, you can get to change hours. It has beautiful specimens, jungle paths, watercourses, ponds, a meditation space, a Japanese garden, a sensory garden... I will return safely
Place where it shows us, part of our ancient history, where it shows a very rich flora, implanted since the colonialism and imperialism, from the 19th century, the access to the JB and very good fast, because the park is very extensive, the walk and long. I recommend you get ready for a good walk. We were guided, by a gentleman (JB), very friendly, wise, extroverted, of an unparalleled historical knowledge. we were satisfied, with the tour, exceeded our expectations...
The Botanical Garden of Rio is truly a beautiful and unique place. 33 hectares of exotic plants from all over the world. Not to mention the giant fish toucans, monkeys, lizards, parrots.... Jean Bernard, an excellent French-speaking guide, introduced us to this garden in every corner and the history that goes with it. A remarkable man of knowledge and kindness who was our private guide during this visit. A real magic moment. Undoubtedly to be done
I wasn't on a tour, I was on my own. Beautiful place, but need to go with time and disposition to walk, the place is huge.
Excellent panorama for all ages, a magical corner in the middle of the city. Highly recommended
