This is the high point, literally, of the tour. The view from the eastern face of the mountain is magnificent and includes the stone with an angle that simulates an abyss. First we climb a steep slope using the jeep as far as possible. Then there are 1.5 km left in the woods, which is done in an average of 40 minutes.

Coming from previous work experience, he applies the total quality method (Toyota method) which means attention to the smallest details and the well-being of his guests as if we were his family ("We are a family"). Furthermore, Alvaro has a great culture (speaks fluent Spanish and English in addition to Portuguese) and knowledge of his country and answered a thousand curiosities and questions in a 360-degree way on many aspects of today's Brazil. So, starting from Alvaro's great expertise and enthusiasm, keeping in mind that the 18 beaches and Pedra do Telegrafo he showed us are world-class in beauty, the result was a truly pleasant experience, filled with wonderful emotions and a memory that will last a lifetime. This was truly one of the best experiences of my life. Saffo is a local expert who made our day exploring Rio absolutely unforgettable. Every detail was thoughtfully planned, and he made sure we not only had an amazing time but also truly learned about the history and soul of the city. This was an amazing tour with an even more amazing tour guide, Alvaro. Before the excursion, Alvaro messaged us with lunch/dinner suggestions, if the restaurants accepted credit card, what to bring to wear, a detailed itinerary and kept in touch several times before the tour. During the tour, he paid attention to all the little details- plenty of bathroom breaks, cover ups for our swim suits, hair tie for my hair, beach chairs, special treats and local snacks, go pro footage of the trip, walking poles, and lots of photo taking. Alvaro was one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had.

I was considering this Experience and couldn’t help but notice the hundreds of glowing reviews. Nothing about this was overhyped – Alvaro has earned his impeccable reputation. Frankly, this beach and hiking trip was what made my trip to Rio a success. I hadn't done a group tour with strangers before, but my nerves were gone within 30 seconds. Alvaro is a world class talent for planning, communication, and hospitality – you cannot help but notice that he has optimized every aspect of the experience – most especially our safety and comfort. His tireless energy (always with a huge smile on his face) made everything smooth the entire day; it never felt like a long day. The locations you get taken to are incredible value; to call them hidden gems is an understatement. Alvaro photos are exceptional. All the natural beauty and constant solitude was so memorable. Álvaro was an amazing guide. He was very insightful and very caring with each one of us. You MUST do this tour if available! There are no other tours like it because this is the only one run by Alvaro! He takes exceptional care of everything and goes out of his way to make sure things run the best possible. He even tries to control the weather 😆 although this one is a little out of his reach. The photos he takes and videos he provides during the tour are so special and a great touch to the whole experience. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Booked as a solo and there were four others in group. Saffo keeps it capped and as such this lends to a small family atmosphere. Despite my group being from all over we blended seamlessly and got along well. He is timely and as ever a professional yet maintaining the vibe of a good long time friend. Photography was amazing and would without hesitation recommend him should you choose to take this tour. The hike up while steep was not bad. Overall, Saffo is the best.
The best tour in Rio! Everything was perfectly planned out for us. We were a family of 5 and it felt like we were VIP guests. Alvaro was responsive, on time, and a wealth of knowledge. The day was everything we hoped and more. The beaches were stunning, the lunch (extra) delicious, and the hike totally worth it. Wow! This hike to Telegraph Rock was beyond incredible! From start to finish, it was an adventure filled with stunning scenery, exciting trails, and jaw-dropping views of Rio's coastline. Our guide was absolutely amazing, he just went above and beyond, super knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience so much more enjoyable with fun facts, snacks and great energy. The final reward? Standing on the famous rock with breathtaking panoramic views that felt like something out of a dream! Plus a lot of professional photos and beautiful sunsets in the end of the day. If you're in Rio, this is an absolute MUST-DO. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

I highly recommend Alvaro/SAFFO and his tour to the beaches and Telegrafo. Organisation and atmosphere were sublime and he managed to make us feel like good colleagues in no time. Lots of "surprises" on the ride, but first and foremost a fantastic glimpse of what "old Rio" was like.

Jeep Tour / Telegraph Hike with Saffo was one of the best tours I have been on by far. This tour takes you outside the tourist zone to enjoy local areas nearby. I really enjoyed his peaceful energy and thoughtful touches throughout the tour. He definitely prepares you in advance for the tour so you know what to expect. The small group size enhances the experience as well. We all arrived as strangers and left as a blended family. Book his tour in advance because if you wait until the last minute there may not be any availability.
