Private Rio Tour: Christ The Redeemer & Sugar Loaf Essentials

Nathaly and Felipe helped make a rainy morning in Rio unforgettable. We were among the first visitors to Christ the Redeemer and got to experience the beauty of that statue without huge throngs of people. We had a great visit to Sugar Loaf and walk through the downtown area, seeing several beautiful museums and learning more about the City’s rich history. We loved Nathaly’s ability to flex our itinerary to see things that might not normally be on the standard tour.

This was a lovely personalised tour. We set a start time and the tour was very accommodating with pick up time and itinerary. We only wanted to see christ the redeemer and sugarloaf mountain, and the rest of the itinerary we requested to see local food/markets which was fabulously are aged by Faby our tour guide. She was a lovely, welcoming guide and was knowledgeable about Rio. We were also dropped off at the airport in time for our flight which was much appreciated. I was highly recommend.

Flavio was excellent, spoke clear English. We saw and learned so much. He went out of his way to show us what we requested. Would definitely do again!

Did a private tour led by an incredible guide, Higor. Very well versed in English, extremely knowledgeable about local history and culture and incrediblly “connected” with the workers at each site. He was greeted at every location like he was the local mayor! I purchased skip the line tickets and “skipping lines” was an understatement! Higor escorted me past other groups with guides and right into the heads of the lines up and back Sugar Loaf. He also is an excellent photographer and could use not only my iPhone to take pics of me but also my pro Canon DSLR. It was such a wonderful experience and I always felt safe and looked after. Due to large crowds, one should have a tour guide like Ana Maria to make the most of their time. She navigated the crowds with ease! Ana Maria and the driver, Valdemar, were punctual picking us up. they continued the punctuality as he dropped us off and picked us up at the different locations.

We booked the private tour for a party of 4 people. Our tour guide was Fabi and we also had a private vehicle with a driver. For starters having our own private vehicle made the experience that much more comfortable, it also allowed us to do the tour at our own pace and to customize it based on what we wanted to see. Our tour guide was Fabi and she was amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable. She knew where to go and what to do to maximize our experience at the different locations we visited. From where to go to take amazing pictures to things to try at each location we visited. The day was well planned as we managed to see all the sights we wanted to see including some we were not even aware of. We visited Christ the Redeemer, the Sugar Loaf Mountains, Escadaria Selaron, the Cathedral of San Sebastian and a few other sights along the way. I would highly recommend doing a private tour like this, as we got to see a lot more than we would have if we did a group tour. It also helped to have our own private vehicle which made it easier to get around as we were able to leave our bags and shopping in the vehicle if we needed to. The tour doesn't include lunch but you do have the opportunity to stop for lunch. Overall I would highly recommend this tour, Fabi was amazing and really made the experience that much more enjoyable. I would recommend her and this tour to anyone visiting Rio, especially if you only have a few days there and want to make the most of it.

Amazing Rio tour with Nathaly - everything went smoothly as she knew the best routes to take, best views, saved time at the busy sites and had great knowledge of Rio with many recommendations. Our driver was also great, navigating the Rio traffic with ease and also very friendly. The car is comfortable and air conditioned. Would 100% recommend this tour. The time just flew by.

Gabrielle was super friendly and accommodating of our needs. Our father just broke his foot and needed to walk slowly as he is recovering. She adjusted the group’s pace accordingly. She also shown us good photo spots. The driver and tour guide both helped us find ATMs around the city, which was really appreciated because our bank card did not work in some machines. Thank you!

We had a fantastic private tour with Higor. My mother uses a walker, and Higor did an excellent job finding accessible bathrooms, navigating step-free access, and making sure she was comfortable and safe. We saw Christ the Redeemer, an interesting Brutalist-style church, the bottom of the Selaron Steps, and took the cable car to Sugarloaf Mountain. Our lunch stop was delicious too. My only regret was that I didn’t think to ask for a stop at the Holocaust Memorial! We will go another day. Notes for anyone with access needs: The Sugarloaf Mountain cable car was set up well for accessibility, aside from a small gap between the platform and the cable car. There was an extensive network of lifts providing step-free access. Christ the Redeemer was more challenging. There were steep inclines and broken-down escalators. Even worse, people on the small viewing platform repeatedly pushed my mother’s walker, and one woman even shouted at my mother to move it so she could take a photo. Overall, it was a wonderful tour around Rio!

What an experience to see Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf just being there was amazing and the views from both overlooking the beautiful Rio de Janiero were breathtaking. Be free tours sent us a luxury sprinter van and driver which were great and our private guide Higor was the best a one of a kind and not only showed us a great time but we were really treated like VIP’s we had skip the line passes but with Higor who is like a celebrity guide we were passing all the lines in a minute. We had such a great experience we booked another tour with them. I would definitely recommend befreetours.com and Higor is a must!!

It was a great day with Higor. Go early to Christ the Redeemer so that it isn’t crazy busy. It was amazing. Sugarloaf story was interesting but was really crowded. Higor took us around the city and explained some of Rios history which was great. We got cheesy bread and had a great experience. Our driver Jonny was great too!

Honestly best part of our entire trip! I highly recommend Ana Maria! She was the best. She made touring Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer a breeze and almost effortless. We learned so much on the way!

We really enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Gabrielle, was very informative, punctual and friendly. We saw all the points that were included in the package, including Christ the Redeemer, the Sugar Loaf Mountain and the old town. We started at 7:00 am, which safed us time by avoiding the city traffic and the lineups to the main attractions. We highly recommend Gabrielle and her driver Romerus who was also very helpful and attentive. His car was very clean and comfortable.

Our private tour of the sites of Rio was great. Our guide Iza, met us at our ship after 2+ hour delay. (By ship). Even with a shorten time, we got to go to Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer. As it as Carnivale, Iza and our driver Leo found a Carnivale street party for us to join for a while. Later, we saw some parties downtown. It was nice to have a private tour with flexibility with the schedule.

We did the Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf tour and Flavio was our personal guide. He was fantastic and kind. His suggestion was to start at Sugarloaf first, and he was right. We beat the crowds and had very little waiting. Afterwards our driver Junior drove us to the famous tile stairs of Brazil. We happened to be here during Brazils carnival and saw lots of colorful people in costume celebrating along with some of the parade floats. Then we were off to see Christ the Redeemer. We learned so much information from Flavio and couldn't imagine doing this tour without him. He is well experienced and loves his job. Thank you Flavio & Junior for a great and memorable experience.

It was awesome! Our guide was wonderful and could tell what worked best for our group! I would highly recommend this tour guide! We went with children and he was very good taking us to where it was good for them to go!

We have booked dozens of tours in our travels, always opting for the best and highest ranked options. This unfortunately ranked as the poorest tour we have done. The guide was likeable enough, but not very knowledgable about the the city when we asked him specific questions. The cost of this private tour was substantial, so we would expect a great vehicle. However, it was an old vehicle, in poor condition with lots of rattles, and heavily tinted windows that were poor for viewing and taking pictures through. In addition, the driver was unsafe and travelled too fast in wet and rainy conditions at times. This tour does not match up to the price we paid or what we have known to be provided by Viator.

Our guide Higor was very nice and knowledgeable, showed us everything we wanted to see and gave us an excellent recommendation for traditional Brazilian dinner restaurant, that we really enjoyed.

We only had one full day in Rio de Janeiro at the end of our cruise and wanted to see as much of the city as possible in our short time there. Flavio arranged an amazing tour of all the places we wanted to see and then some! He organized and planned everything so well that we were able to see and experience so much more of Rio than we expected. Flavio is very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. We learned so much during our time with him. Flavio’s English is also excellent! Language was an unexpected challenge in Brazil where few speak English and everything – signs, maps, menus – are in Portuguese, even at the airport! In our travels, we’ve found very basic English to be a common form of communication among world travelers especially in tourist areas, but there was quite a language barrier in Brazil. Flavio’s articulate English was a tremendous help in overcoming that barrier. A very heartfelt thank you to Flavio for our wonderful experience in Rio de Janeiro.

Izabelle was wonderful! By the end of our private tour, my husband and I felt like we had a new friend. She was kind, thorough, thoughtful, knowledgeable and patient! She took us to every place on our wish list and embellished it with some of her own ideas. By the end of a very rainy day, we felt amazingly satisfied and pampered. Gabrielle was an amazing tour guide and so knowledgeable. Johnny was our driver and they were both so welcoming! This private tour was perfect to cover off all the highlights we wanted to see. Christ the Redeemer, Selaron Steps and the Metropolitan Church. Unfortunately it was a slight rain on and off all day which did not allow us to see Sugarloaf Mountain. We made it to the first level but very clouded over so did not go to the top. Had a delicious traditional Brazilian lunch and finished off with a drive along the beaches from LeBron to Copacabana which we requested. An awesome day.

Nataly was excellent! She arranged a spectacular day. Weather was raining on and off all day but she was amazing adjusting to keep us as dry as possible. Our driver was also very good!

The car was really nice, Junior was an excellent driver We had fast-pass access for Sugarloaf, which made the entry so smooth and easy, allowing more time for other things. Our family had a fantastic experience and full day excursion in Rio. Flavio, our guide for the day, was terrific in every respect - he met us at our hotel, provided wonderful details about all the places we visited and made the day completely seamless. In between some of the major sights we planned for such as Christ The Redeemer and Sugar Loaf he took us to other places such as the modern Cathedral in the center of town. Everything about the day was lovely and memorable. We would love to take another trip with this company and Flavio.

We had already seen Sugar Loaf the day before so Gabrielle changed the tour for us. Loved having this flexibility. Made for a wonderful day. Gabrielle spoke outstanding English and was very knowledgeable. She took us to sites that were very interesting that we knew nothing about in advance. Would highly recommend.

Our private tour was custom. The statue is very crowded try to book an early or weekday one. It is very hot as well recommend water only one stand. The rest of the tour is smooth and they adapted to us.

What a great experience, our tour guide Gabrielle was friendly, patient and knowledgeable and our driver got us to all the locations safely. We visited Sugarloaf mountain, Christ the Reedemer and the Selaron Steps and we also had time to visit Copacabana and have lunch with Gabrielle at a place she recommended. All in all, a great private tour, definitely worth the price!

Rio is very congested so half of the time was spent driving. There were 4 of us (adults) and a driver and guide. Vehicle wasn't big enough for that many people so we were crammed like sardines which damped what could have been a great tour. The guide did not offer much commentary or suggestions unfortunately on things and never having been to rio we were relying on him. They offered to get a larger vehicle but we were worried about time as we did this off a cruise ship. They knew how many people we had so it was very disappointing. Lack of commentary was highly disappointing. We asked for a local place for lunch and that was the highlight.

Iza, our tour guide was very competent, pleasant and easy to understand. She adjusted the itinerary to include all the places we were interested in and made our visit to Rio a great experience. Also, our communication with the agency before the tour was excellent, replies were prompt and the activity was well organized. We would not hesitate to recommend them to our friends and family!

Higor was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and perfect English. Our driver was very skilled and the vehicle was clean and comfortable. Being able to fine tune our itinerary meant we saw the maximum number of sites in Rio that interested us.
