It was a wonderful Trip from Rio to Petropolis. Very interesting facts about the history of the City and the former Empire of Brasil. The tour guide Flavio was very helpful and friendly.
Petropolis is a beautiful town well worth the trip.
We really enjoyed Flavio, and would do another tour with him. His English is very good due to living in New Zealand. He knows history and shares just the right amount of it. We felt very safe with him, even with our 4 suitcases in the car for the day. Petropolis was not a killer destination, but we’re glad we did it - different from Rio, and quite historic. Don’t hesitate using Flavio for Rio, Petropolis, or Buzios. BTW his new car had 345 total kilometers on it, and was comfortable.
Flavio was a great guide. Very knowledgeable, very nice personality, great driver. A joy to spend the day with!!
We enjoyed exploring the highlights of Petropolis especially the Royal Palace. But most of all we loved the conversations with our guide Flavio about life here in Brazil. He is a history buff and provides context for what we saw. He was also happy to answer our myriad of questions about life as a Brazilian. His English skills are excellent and he is easy to understand.
This was a wonderful experience. It was rainy and a few days before there had been terrible flooding in Petropolis. I was concerned and considered cancelling until our guide/owner of tour company showed up. He made me feel at ease with the rain situation. He has been a tour guide for over 20 years in New Zealand and now Brazil (where he is from). He speaks very good English so was easy to understand. I had some issues with my knee and he made accommodations for me. I would highly recommend this tour and any others by this company.
Spent the day on a private tour of Petrólopolis, learning more about Brazil's history and culture. Our guide, Flavio, was an excellent host and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend taking a part of a day to go on this tour!
Such an amazing tour and guide!! my son and l love this tour so much, better than Rio.. the place is old world, quaint and you can stroll around safely.. the old houses are grand.. and we have the best knowledgeable guide Favio.. l highly recommend him even for Rio tour..
We enjoyed a lively day teip to Petropolis. Guide was prompt, knowledgeable, very polite, great driver and spoke excellent English.
Our day trip from Rio to Petropolis was simply amazing! Our guide, Flavio, was prompt, courteous, and very friendly and knowledgeable. He shared a lot of information about day-to-day life, as well as interesting history about the places we visited. We saw some truly breathtaking places and stored wonderful pictures and memories. We highly recommend this experience!
It was great to see more than just Rio. To see the mountainous area of Petrópolis was a great accompaniment to our Rio tour. Great view into the history of colonialism in Brazil. Our guide was great to talk to and shared so much with us.
Our guide Flavio was suberb! So knowledgeable and charming! Excellent English! Learned a lot! A very fun outing.
A brilliant day with Flavio in Petropolis, he was brilliant at answering my questions and brought the various sites we visited to life including seeing the first ever telephone in Brazil! I had never heard of Santos Dumont before my trip and now I am a fan, I won't spoil the surprise but visiting his house was a real treat on the trip. Thank you for a brilliant day and it was definitely worth making the trip from Rio de Janeiro to see a different side to Brazil.
We had Flavio as our tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about Brazil’s history and culture. We had a great time with Flavio. Definitely recommended.
We had a great experience with our guide Flavio who is very knowledgeable, super nice and speaks perfect English! The city is beautiful and was worth the visit. We liked the imperial palace/museum, the house and story of Santos Dumont were also very interesting.
Nice day trip from Rio. Petropolis is definitely worth to visit. Our guide was nice, friendly and professional. Highly recommended
We had an outstanding private tour with Flavio that allowed to discover the wonderful city of Petropolis. Everyone stays and concentrates in Rio but this a great trip into the mountains outside the city and well worth your time. This is the imperial city and Emporer Pedro 2 and Theresa ruled from here ! On the scenic drive (1 hr) up the mountains Flavio explained the rich history of Brazil and the imperial family. It is a very nice drive with many picturesque overlooks. After visiting the former casino (huge bavarian style building) Flavio led us personally through the imperial museum and explained all the important exhibits. So much better than just reading place cards. We then saw the main cathedral de alcantara where the royal family is buried which is excellent gothic architecture and walked through the area seeing the different historic homes and parks. Petropolis is a city made for strolling. A complete surprise and to me one of the best reasons to see Petropolis was to visit the Santos Dumont home and learn about his life- he was actually the father of aviation (not the Wright Brothers!) and its a fascinating tour through his home. We had a buffet lunch at a very nice restaurant and saw the crystal palace - Flavio was passionate about sharing his knowledge and life experiences in Brazil with us - this made the tour so much more enjoyable and the fact that it was a private tour made it more personable. We give Flavio and the tour of Petropolis an enthusiastic recommendation. Its a special place and you will be really pleased you took the time to visit ...with Flavio !
We had a great private tour with Flavio. He is knowledgeable and outgoing and will tailor any tour to your interests. Flavio easily ranks as one of the best guides we ever had. I would not book anyone else.
Flavio was ab excellent tour guide. He tailored the tour to our interests. This is a highly recommended, personalized, experience. Its the best excursion we have booked on Viator.
Flavio was a joy to spend time with. He is knowledgeable and accommodating. We had a wonderful experience. I wish he could guide us throughout Brazil!

Flavio was very professional and knowledgeable. He picked us up on time at the cruise ship pier and made recommendations about other things to see and do in Rio, even though we had not booked additional tours with him. His English is excellent, he is friendly and an experienced guide. Highly recommended.

My trip to Petropolis was awesome. I was pickup up at my hotel. The tour guide spoke perfect English. He was very knowledgeable. From Rio to Petropolis, he answered so many questions about Brazil. The city tour was great. No wait at the palace. He offered historic facts about everything. Several other destinations during the Petropolis tour. Very efficient. Back to the hotel in great time. Great day. Highly recommend.

Excellent excursion, Flavio our guide was great, lots of explanations. Sites visited are packed with history. Very interesting walking tour of the charming city of Petropolis! A break in the mountains far from the hectic life of Rio, welcome during our trip. You have to do this excursion.
Beautiful tour on a sunny day in Petrópolis, the guide was very kind and professional serving us in the best way and helped us with his great knowledge of the place and history which provided a complete experience.
Very nice trip Petropolis beautiful, city I loved. Christine guide very professional, friendly and taught us the History of Petropolis and its beautiful museum, excellent food. I have been to several tours in Brazil and this was the best. I am from Chile and recommend it.
Excellent. Flávio was an excellent and very friendly guide. He introduced us to Petropolis. Thanks again to him for accompanying us. I recommend
We closed with Flavio a private tour from Rj to Petrópolis to get to know the city. He picked us up on time at the airport at the scheduled time. The trip was quiet, with no downtime. We adapted the route to our interest, Flavio made the tour pleasant, always bringing useful information about the places visited. We went to the Imperial Museum, Casa Stos Dumont, Cathedral and Crystal Palace. We prefer to stay more free for shopping on Tereza Street and making chocolates. Super recommend the tour, we saved time with the guide and the car, because we only had one Saturday available.
