Maracanã is a classic. The pick up from the hotel was very convenient and entry passes were inlcuded. The Viator tour guide shared lots of info that we would have missed if we had just bought tickets at the stadium. He knew a lot about local teams in addition to the national team. My soccer-obsessed son was very satisfied.
Great experience redeeming the ticket. The tour of the stadium is at your own pace but you can stay as much as you can in each section. Highly recommend! Once there you can add the penalty kicks which was amazing.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke good English. the private tour was very accommodating to our schedule. Pick up and drop off from hotel very smooth.
This was described as a guided tour with an expert guide, when in reality you could walk in and join any group, and the “guide” didn’t give you any information. All he did was introduce himself and press play on a 3 minute long video. Then you were just left to walk through the tour path on your own and read the plaques on your own. There was no guide, and no one to explain any of the history or facts of the stadium. You are way better off just arriving to the stadium and buying your own ticket there. Very disappointed that this was advertised as a behind the scenes guided tour, and there was no guide.
Excellent Guide, Louis, told us everything there was to know about the history of this world famous stadium. In perfect English too.
Louis and Patricia were fantastic. We had a great tours with the GreyLine company. The communication and customer service is better when you book directly with them.
The tour was fine, nothing particularly exciting about it. Was cool to get to go field level and some of the displays inside were nice.
It's worth the price, you get to go through the museum and the grass on the side and see all the historic events that happened here from concerts to championships to world cups. Pele's 1009th goal ball
I’m a futbol lover and this was in my bucket list since I was a kid. It’s an awesome experience to be inside in one of the most mystical places in futbol history. The pictures, the locker rooms, the press conference room and being on the pitch is an amazing experience. It’s too bad I couldn’t do the Flamengo game that you can also buy here in Viator, it’s actually cheaper than buying it at the box office
What a morning we had at the world famous Maracana football stadium. Lots to see and do including a full history football shirts and foot pronts of all the famous and iconic players to have worn the gold and green. From the iconic 3 time winning team, after which they were able to keep the trophy and a new one made, players such as Garincha and Dida, who played just before, Rivelino, Jairzhino, Gerson, Carlos Alberto and of course the great Pele. Also great footballers such Socrates and Zico. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was also nice to re learn the fact that in 1950 the Maracana played host to the world cup final and although Brazil lost against Uruguay in front of a mind boggling 200000 crowd. The highlight of the tour was the penalty shoot out which my wife and I signed up for. Although I was not feeling 100⁵% I was not going to miss out on the opportunity of scoring a penalty at the Maracana. The penalty shoot out went well with my wife being able to say she scored a penalty at the Maracana 1 and myself who scored 3 and that was with knee leg and hip issues.Fantastic experience finished off with pitch side interviews and press conference. Would most definitely recommend for all ages and a must for any true football game. VAMOS Fernando Nieto scoring a Catterick of penalties at the Maracana visiting from London.
This is an excellent tour and i loved the football history of Brazil especially Pelé. My only issue is the photographs. Luckily you get real printed off photos as the digital photos that were Whatsapp,d to you are blurred. I also never received the emailed version either so im confused why the digital images were poor but the prints good. Luckily. All in all a great morning out.
There was nothing particularly bad about this tour. I mostly rated it a 4 because I'm not really a futbol (soccer fan), but I felt I would have been doing myself a disservice of not stopping by to take a look at such a famous Rio attraction. The stadium was historic, and we got to view and take pictures of some cool things. Our tour guide did a great job of giving me details about what his team had experienced in the past, since I don't really follow the sport. Great family experience, especially for those who love/appreciate sporting events aka soccer.
This was an excellent guided tour with a wonderful host Louis, very knowledgeable and made this tour extremely enjoyable and interesting! Would recommend this tour to anyone lucky enough to visit this incredible city!
Was definitely on our to do list whilst in Rio, we had a fantastic guide called Louis who knew a lot about the stadium and who was very clearly passionate about his football.
Iconic stadium, excellent trip if you love your football. Guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour.
Our private tour guide Maiko turned out to be a great find - a true football enthusiast whose local knowledge of all things related to Brazilian football was excellent! He provided a fascinating and insightful tour of the Maracana Stadium, which was probably the highlight of our holiday. He spoke very good English and was great company. Would not hesitate to highly recommend!
It was a miracle of memories to meet all the old icons again on film and pictures and to see this temple of football! As I am a swede it was interesting to learn that 138 000 people whatched the match between Brazil and Sweden in 1950 World Cup which was one of the first matches ever played in this stadium! Our guide was entusiastic and knowledgeable and made a very good job!
The tour itself lasted about an hour but it's really only four stops -- the entrance hall, a locker room, the stadium, and then a press room. The guides provided a little history, but for the most part, we were left on our own. This is not like stadium tours in the US where you would generally receive a lot of narration and stops on the tour. Still, if you are a sports fan, this checks off one more item on your bucket list.

As a big football enthusiast, this was the first tour I booked when I planned my holiday to Brazil.
Even after watching a game at the stadium the day before I had the tour booked, I was still excited to see all the facilities and stadium from another perspective.

Our guide spoke perfect English, was very accommodating and friendly throughout, gave us plenty of time for photos, and knew his stuff about the history of Brazilian football.

Overall, I am very pleased with what I saw and would recommend this tour to any avid football enthusiast.

Only book this tour if you absolutely don't want to take cheaper options such as the subway or a taxi. This tour is nothing more than a transportation service to/from hotel/stadium. Once you're at the stadium, your tour guide is an employee of the stadium. There's not much information shared by the Viator tour guide. You get no special access compared to those that arrive by subway and pay for the tour at the stadium.
We decided to use Viator because we thought the lines to get into the stadium would be long with tourists due to Carnaval. However, at 9 am there was a total of 50 people total touring the stadium. Absolutely NO LINES! The tour lasted less than one hour.
I highly recommend doing this tour on your own unless you fear public transportation and don't mind over paying for this service.
In all, the stadium is definitely a MUST SEE!

The bus for the tour was huge causing the tour itself to be very late to arrive at the stadium. I did expect more things to see at Maracana, it's no where close to be the museum some of the other prestigious stadiums in the world are. JB was very nice but began sweating profusely and therefore penetrated the front of the bus with his strong body odor, but he was very kind and meant well. If I had to do this tour again, I would've taken a taxi there and bought the ticket at the door. It's way cheaper and faster. But Maracana is definitely worth seeing.

Overall it was good. Only saw the basics of the stadium e.g. Pitch side, changing room area not including showers/baths. Compared to other stadium tours this was very little

Our guide was full of great information, spoke great English, and was friendly. The tour was interesting. I felt we saw a lot. I would recommend this tour.

Great way to see the Maracana Stadium in a short amount of time. We hit all the high points and it only took a couple of hours including transport to and from. Walking out to the field through the players tunnel was a really cool experience.

Very good! Worth the cost benefit!
Lucho was a very attentive guide; it was clear that he is passionate about soccer and he always offered to take our photos. It is a short tour, but we enjoyed it with him.
Dommage.
Luis Wanderley was our guide, perfect for the occasion, the tour is also highly recommended, the stadium is beautiful
Mythical stadium. Amazing view. Many photos. very exciting and engaging. To try again why not.
I bought tickets for the tour for my family and car. On the way out they charged me for the car again. Careful.
the stadium is a must-see during a stay in Rio. However, it is advertised as a guided tour which is completely false. a guide speaks for 2 minutes at the beginning and it is autonomous.
Très bon guide Luis, très bonnes explications., chaleureux et souriant. Visite très intéressante, sur place c est encore mieux, merci à l équipe Viator car pour avoir à l étranger un guide qui parle français ce n est pas toujours évident.
Beautiful football stadium with lots of history. Mandatory stop for any footballer visiting Rio is to visit. The cost of the tour is 65 R$ with guide (they tell the story of the stadium in Portuguese, Spanish and English) and 55 R$ without guide, but it is not worth doing it with guide. I loved the stadium itself, but I wanted to know more because the tour is only about the mixed zone, the C locker room (which is not the same going to the locker room where Germany or Argentina was in the 2014 World Cup finals), in the press room that Brazilian teams use in local tournaments (it is not the auditorium type press room that was used in the World Cup or Brazil national team matches) and a part of the stand that is behind the bench of the substitutes, do not take you through the VIP boxes.
As we were next door we took the opportunity to make a jump to the famous stadium. It’s pretty nicely done even me who doesn’t follow too much football fan I enjoyed enough to be able to visit the backstage of the stadium in peace.
We visited Maracana Stadium on May 3, 2019. Although it was absolutely remodeled and is in perfect condition, for Uruguayans to visit it is to relive the match of the World Cup final in 1950 where Uruguay beat Brazil to be crowned World Champion.
The visit did not surprise me as I expected, it is my second time in Rio and I was dying to go to Maracana Stadium, the first one I could not because I was in maintenance or something and they did not allow admission. The route is very simple, short and you can not take a picture from the top because they only allow you to climb up to half the grandstands. You don't need to be with a guide because you don't have much to see.
Interesting but expensive tour! Costing R$ 50.00 (non-guided) and R$ 60.00 (guided). Unlike a while ago, the visits were limited, leaving some places (camarote, tribune...). For the gringos the visit can be interesting yes, and always prefer the guides, because a positive point are professionals who tell the history of the stadium and some clubs and players super well, in addition to answering all questions in a cordial and friendly way. Besides the guides speak other languages.
It is advisable to hire one of the guides inside the stadium, for very few real differences, you have a guide (in my case a guide) who spoke very well in Spanish, and told you the whole story of the great classics of Brazilian football...super recommended!!!
